Bob is a super nice guy and an extremely knowledgeable arborist. They removed a dying tree from my front yard and trimmed a large tree in the back yard. They did a fantastic job, worked fast and cleaned everything up very well. Highly impressed. I will definitely use them again.

I didn't use them after getting the estimate. in the estimate they talked about trimming a crepe myrtle tree off of my outdoor shed. It is not a crepe myrtle, it is just an overgrown shrub. I figure if they didn't know the difference between shrubs and an actual crepe myrtle they obviously did not know what they were doing.

Response from Piedmont Tree Experts
We appreciate the review. Good or bad it helps us understand the client better. Unfortunately I feel its a little undeserved. Please let me explain. We were told all contact was to be through texting. Sometimes it's best to call or email direct. A simple typo resulted in this horrible review. The Certified Arborist that came out for free, accidently typed the wrong specimen name in his text. He properly identified everything else. He had it written right in his notes but accidently texted the wrong plant name. To be fair it was two one inch limbs that needed to come off and pruning would have been the same for either plant. He had a large Creape Myrtle project he looked at that day and mistook the Lagustrum for a Creape in his text. He tried to reach out but the client had changed phones that day so he couldnt reach anyone. I reached out too and stopped by and explained this was his first mistake in 8 years at the company. He has a stellar record with fully explaining proper tree care on every specimen tree in our region..and he's human. I feel as if this review is undeserved because I was told we were the only company out of 3 that called back and actually looked at the trees, at the time of this review. We apologized many times to no avail. Simple misprint that we tryed to correct, is not worthy in my opinion of a D rating. We got everything else right with 0 credit for it. Tree care would have been the same for either a Creape Myrtle or a Lagustrum. Same size and leaf pattern. Exact same type of tree care. We strive for perfection in every facet of the company. Definently dropped the ball on this one, no matter how small the ball was. Thanks for reading our response. Bob Lubbers, founder and owner.

Excellent. We learned what type of tree it was and the growth structure. Even though the trees should not have been planted in the location and close to the house, it was recommended that the trees not be cut down. We can makeover our yard by adding top soil to cover the roots (Bob told us how much top soil to use) and reseed and decorate as we choose. We also learned that these trees are not mature and in two years will need to call them back to access and probably do some maintenance like trimming. I was quite pleased and my husband was overjoyed that the trees didn't have to come down. My neighbors had the same issues but chose to cut them down. I know how important trees and plants are so it was important to me to get a professional analysis of my situation. To everyone - please, before you cut a tree down, get a certified arborist to look at your situation so you may have options and make the best decision for the environment. These trees were about 20 years old and still growing. Can you imagine the age of the trees that get cut down everyday without any thought of their benefit and the environment? I was quite pleased and will call them back. I will also recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: I chose Piedmont Tree Experts because they were certified arborists which I was looking for to access my front yard in particular. You see, the builder planted two trees whose root system is enormous and complex and it took over my yard. It was two trees in close proximity of each other and close to the house. Now, so far, our foundation has not been compromised. But I needed a specialist to tell me if the trees needed to be removed (which my husband didn't want to do because it provided us with shade and minimized the effects of the direct sunlight). So, Piedmont Tree Experts came out to access my dilemma. I didn't have to be home for them to do this. They just called me when they were on the way and then followed up with another phone call to give me the results of their findings.

Great job removing one large tree, two small trees, and pruning several others in my yard. Piedmont Tree Experts are just that--experts. Bob Lubbers knows his trees and what they need to grow best. They also have the big bucket truck to take the trees down safely, not only for themselves, but for your property. He took great care to show me how the trees would be pruned to best be improved and be in better shape to grow in the future. My trees look fantastic! I think the job improved the value of my home more than the cost of the job. He said my yard would look just like it did before they started--but it looked better because they cleaned up everything and hauled off all the debris. He did a job just down the road from my house. I had noticed for a long time that this business was practically hidden by all the trees. After Piedmont got through, the trees looked great and you could actually tell there was an office there. I would highly recommend Piedmont Tree Experts and would use them again the next time I need tree work.

These guys were amazing! They showed up on time and knocked out the work very quickly. They found that one of my trees needed to be removed (which I suspected already because we lost a large portion of it during the hurricane last fall) and I will be hiring them to come do that next. The owner was very knowledgeable and honest. I would recommend them to my friends and family without hesitation.

Excellent service done with strict safety guidelines for not only their own team members but also the homeowners. They took their time to ensure no damage was done to a structure that was directly under where the tree would have fallen if not for coming to rest on surrounding trees. Due to the nature of this tree uprooting it required a bucket truck to do the dismantling of the tree. They also put down boards to ensure the truck didn’t destroy our yard and cleaned up after the job was done.

We needed 2 trees removed, 1 was a very large oak and close to the power line. We received several estimates, they all involved rolling back the power line - which meant we would be without power for the duration of the job. Piedmont said it wasn't necessary, and they removed both trees without a problem. The job took a little longer than originally quoted, but we were very satisfied with the job they did.

Very well. Work was expected to take a day and a half, but morphed into 4 days due to inclement weather. Team was easy to get along with. They leave some of the heavy equipment onsite overnight, which was not a problem with us. They even negotiated with a somewhat hard-to-get-along-with neighbor to use her driveway for access to some backyard trees, a real coup.

The job went VERY well. Took two working days, finished areund lunchtime the 2nd day. Cleaned up after the first day so we could function areund the house, and cleaned up completely once the job was complete. Ground all debris and hauled it away. Bob, the owner, is quite knowledgeable, humorous and, with his crew, is focused on doing the work safely and efficiently.
Description of Work: Removed two med-large (+/-60' tall x 24" caliper) mature but diseased trees, one w/in 20' of ghe house. Ground the stump completely of the one that was in the lawn area. Limbed-up several other healthy trees, and identified (at my request) several more as candidates for possible removal at a later date.

Bob Lubbars is a true professional. He is very knowledgeable, and I had complete confidence in his work. He responded promptly to my call for an estimate and came by the next day. I had two trees that were growing onto the house, and two others that needed minor pruning. Bob explained what he would do and gave me a reasonable price estimate. He said it would be about three weeks before he could do the work. It turned out to be four weeks, but I am very satisfied with the result. Bob and his associate cleaned up very nicely when they were done. I should not need additional tree pruning or several years, but I know whom I will call when I do.

Bob came out promptly to give an estimate. We had gotten several quotes, and his wasn't the lowest or the highest, but in reading the reviews online, his experience with taking trees down in tricky locations was appealing to me. When he gave the estimate he said that he would be able to do it in the next two weeks. In under two weeks, I got a call that he was going to be able to come that day and work on the tree. I wasn't home, but I had pointed out a bush that was special to me at the time of the estimate, so I immediately came home to make sure that plant was protected. I got home just in time to see the truck's wheel roll onto my special plant. As soon as I made Bob aware of this, he immediately worked to save the plant, shoveling it out from it's place to be returned once the work was completed. He had remembered that I had asked for him to watch out for a certain plant, but he was mistaken on which plant I was so concerned about. (The one he thought was the one was not touched.) He was very apologetic. Had I had further warning of when he was coming, I would have tagged the plant for him. I actually waited to write this review to see if the plant survived. It is not as good as before, but it is alive. His care to try to save it is appreciated, and I do think that over time it will return to it's previous health. (And for those wondering why he would hurt a bush at all, I will say that when we had talked about the special bush, I had acknowledged that it was a tricky spot to get the truck to, and I understood that there were a couple bushes that may get damaged. The problem was which one he protected.) Even with the misunderstanding about which bush to protect, I would still be willing to hire this company again. The rest of the experience was very positive. He worked as a two man team. He was able to climb the tree, cut it piece by piece, and lower it with ropes. At no point was I concerned for my house, even though the large pieces were only a couple feet from my roof. The thinning of the trees in the front yard was excellent. He did such a good job that anyone else wouldn't have thought they were done - they were not butchered, they were thinned, which is exactly what we wanted. They took two days to complete the job, which was very reasonable, and I was pleased at how well they cleaned up the yard (and blew off the roof). Bob clearly has a passion for trees. He was very easy to work with, reasonable priced, and I would hire him again.
Description of Work: We needed a large hardwood right next to our house that had died removed. The tree's trunk was only a couple feet from our roof and it was located in a spot that was difficult to get a truck to. We also had him thin out the trees in our front yard and remove a large branch from one of them that was over the house.

Bob Lubbers came out to give us an estimate - he was very personable and agreeable when he first came out. He stated that he was last year's champion tree climber, and mentioned zero impact. He said no problem to climb trees, and would only take truck in yard only as far as large poplar directly below house. Called to hire on 5/26 and confirmed the price of $5200 and that he wouldn't take truck into lower area of yard as we had discussed on day of estimate. When he came out with one other worker to take down our trees, he was planning on taking truck to all locations - not what we agreed to - stated one tree unsafe to climb - when previously it did not appear to be a problem. Asked him about lowering pieces of tree with rope - but it seemed that he planned to let the pieces drop. Our agreement was for him to cut hardwood up for firewood & haul away pine - when we mentioned length for firewood - he said he wasn't cutting it up. Told him we had hired him instead of someone else that hadn't planned to cut up firewood as part of price. He said he sensed 'hostility' - due to our concerns over honoring agreement & not damaging yard & plants. He said he was going to pack up & let us hire someone else. Had thought we should email to confirm job - but he lists no email on card and doesn't appear to have a website. I tried repeatedly to go over details on phone on 5/26 - confirming price and where we had agreed on truck being used, but he seemed in a hurry to hang up. We cancelled a trip in order to be here the days he wanted to work - had worked in near 100 degree weather the day before removing part of a fence, because we had told Bob we would & wanted to live up to our part of agreement. To be fair he did not say it had to be that date but had mentioned that it was dry and opportune time to do the work. We were very disappointed that we waited 3 weeks to fit into his schedule and then work was not done as agreed upon. We felt dumb that we trusted someone to do what they promised - should have gotten some type of confirmation. On a positive note - he probably did us a favor in leaving before he started. We were able to hire someone who actually climbed all trees involved, lowered limbs by rope, protected all our plants & yard, and only drove dump truck in our driveway - not yard!
Description of Work: We had approximately a dozen trees that we wanted removed, most stumps ground, and the hardwoods cut up into firewood. Needed someone to climb trees in part of the yard because there was not room to take a truck between weeping cherry and gazebo, and due to soft turf in yard.
