The advertisement for the product says "waterproofs, prevents wood deterioration" so we paid for the service. Our home was built in 2003 and coated in 2006. We spoke at length with Tom Barnett who assured us that the paint is guaranteed for 25 years and the caulk that they use is guaranteed for 60 years. He boasted that we "would never have to paint or caulk again". We were initially concerned with the timing of the coating. It was very hot the day they coated our windows, which concerned us for the product effectiveness. We didn't push to reschedule and allowed them to finish the job. After a couple of years, we needed to have a molding replaced on one window due to wood deterioration, which PPC assisted us with and did not charge us. Also, we had a window break and they coated the new window without a charge, that's where the great customer service stopped.Fast forward 6 years to 4/2012. We noticed more moldings had deteriorated wood so we called Rhinoshield for assistance. They forwarded our call to our local dealer, Piedmont Permanent Coatings, Inc. Tom Barnett said he would have his team take a look. After 3 months, on 7/24/12 his team finally arrived and began fixing the issues, for an additional charge. We were upset that we had so many rotten window frames after he claimed the product would "waterproof and prevent wood deterioration" and we were upset that we were being charged for the wood work needing to be replaced (after all, that's why we bought the service in the first place). The moldings that were deteriorating are on the second floor and third floor of our home and not exposed to sprinkler heads, etc. My husband repeatedly expressed his concerns to Tom. Tom said the failure wasn't in his product but must have been the wood the home was built with. He repeatedly said he warrants his product but not the wood. After an impass, he pulled his workers off the job before they were able to complete replacing the wood moldings completely. So, I am writing ths review today as I have window moldings that were left unfinished and now exposed to the elements until I can get some resolution. This certainly was not worth $5700. My complaint with Piedmont Permanent Coatings, Inc. is that their advertising is misleading and that they walked off the job. Their "limited warranty" does state in no uncertain terms that they do not warrant against structural defects which even if your house is brand spanking new, they will claim you have structural defects and that their product is not the problem. So, if you are planning to coat your external wood or stucco with this product, be careful. His product won't fail but your wood, stucco, etc will. If you pay him to replace your wood, etc then he will happily coat your home with his product for free (after he charges you $5700 to do the initial coat).
Description of Work: We have a brick house with wooden windows/trim. We paid Piedmont Permanent Coatings to apply Rhinoshield Ceramic Coating to all of the external wood surfaces.
