+ -1 moreI came to know of them through Angie?s List. They had come on time and had done the job that I had asked them to do. They were very courteous and quick. They hadn?t played around either and were very careful. I had spent $190 for the job.

+ -1 moreThey were very up front and let me know what everything would cost. They tried to help me get referrals for what I actually needed. They were very prompt and courteous, and gave great customer service. I wouldn?t hesitate to use them if I ever needed to move to another home. I was surprised at how friendly and considerate they were with me. Their services were just more than I needed.
Description of Work: I needed someone to help me move some things from my attic to my outdoor shed.

+ -1 moreYou have read the story above. This is a horrible corporate moving company called ATLAS. Paxton is the local company who did a good job. If you are moving to the Washington, DC area or New York, THEN DO NOT USE ATLAS. Their local companies in this area are NOT depandable and will lose your personal items. BE CAREFUL BE CAREFUL.....I am not a crack pot guy by the way. I am reputable CEO for a Wall Street Company. I spent countless hours of my busy personal day trying to deal with the Atlas Corporate group in processing my claim. They want to play monkey business like this incident was my fault. People need to hear about my horror story so they can find a better moving company. If you have a bad story with Atlas, then please email it to nedwards1965@gmail.com or call me at 703 309 7217. Description of Work: I recently selected Atlas World Group (Paxton Moving) in Charlotte, NC to move my personal goods to Manhattan. I selected them because they were at top moving company in Charlotte on Angie's list. I must tell you that companies associated with Atlas Van Lines are an accident waiting to happen. Suzanne at Paxton did a great job getting my move prepared for pickup and convinced me on Paxton. They did a good job picking up my furniture. Then, the furniture shipped and overnighted at a Baltimore, Maryland Atlas "secure" location in route to Manhattan. The truck lock was cut on the "secure" over night factility and about half of my boxes were stolen. A police report was filed where the officer informed me that this was not the first incident that occurred. In fact, many thefts have occurred at Atlas locations from what I am finding from my research with consumer advocacy groups. I had about $21,000 worth of personal items stolen. I only moved a 1 bedroom apartment and a bedroom suite. What happened next has been a nightmare. The Baltimore dispatcher called me to inform me that my load had been broken into the night before they arrived to New York. I had no call or apology from anyone at Atlas. One would think that the local general manager would be all over handling the situation personally. Not with Atlas. Suzanne was the only employee who displayed any sort of sympathy for the situation. Then, came the process to file my claim. They made me feel like the criminal in the process of asking for money and made it like a negotiation. I supposedly had the full coverage insurance. Their offer was one third of the policy because one third of my weight was lost. I had $21,000 worth of personal merchandise stolen including personal papers. I have already had identity theft from the information on the papers being used. The police officer filing the report told me that this has happen numerous times at the Baltimore location. I am letting my lawyer handle the situation and am going to sue them in civil court to get the value of my personal effects. I am not a person who sues a company, but this company has treated me wrong from the time that the incident occurred. They are like the abuser who admits NO wrong, but wants to pay a little bit of cash to make an unhappy customer go away. PLEASE DO NOT USE ATLAS TO MOVE YOUR PERSONAL GOODS anywhere in the USA. THEY WILL LOSE THEM OR DESTROY THEM. If you have any questions, then please call me directly at 703 309 7217. I am very happy to tell you my night mare story about this horrid moving company. + -1 moreWe did have two things break, but Atlas was responsive and either replaced or repaired the items. I like that the boxes were included in the cost. I feel that the service differs from location to location. It was easy to use this company.
Description of Work: We had them pack large breakable items. They moved the furniture to a storage unit. They stored the items for five months. They then moved the furniture to another state, and moved it into our new house.

+ -1 moreThe 4 men were friendly and polite, although the younger ones often stood around chatting. (We paid by the hour) After they left, I discovered our washer and dryer were damaged. The dryer door knob was torn off. I found it a few days later in the back of a cabinet in another room. The control panel of the washer was detached from the washer base. When I called to report the damage, I did get an apology, and a half-hearted promise to file a claim. I haven't heard any more from the guy after 3 weeks. My husband explained to me the insurance only covers $.60 per lb. So, any compensation would be minimal anyway.
Description of Work: They moved 7 rooms of furniture 5 miles away to our new home.

+ -1 moreEveryone from Steve who provided me the estimate, to Joy, my move coordinator, were great. The gentlemen, Chris, Emmett and Chris, who actually did the move, were a pleasure to work with - very careful and efficient. I also was able to pick up used moving boxes at no charge. This is a professional moving company that knows what they are doing with employees that make it happen with outstanding customer service.
Description of Work: The Paxton Van Lines Company was very responsive and professional in handling my move from Raleigh to Charlotte. This was a rather small move of 2500 lbs. but they provided me great service just the same and all in one day.

+ -1 moreThe entire Paxton team did an excellent job from the relocation specialist that was assigned, to the estimator and the moving crew. They took great care in protecting the hardwood floors, carpeting and walls in both homes. Some of the stairway walls did get marred (nothing that touch up paint couldn't take care of), but it was expected from some of the oversized pieces that had to come up or go down the stairs. We didn't have any damaged furniture as they took care in wrapping/padding all the furniture before it went on the truck.
Description of Work: My wife and I boxed everything up and Paxton did all the heavy lifting. The company provided us with some free used boxes a week before the move to help us keep our packing costs down. They moved boxes and furniture from a 3-story home into a new 3-story home (local move). There were two days between the time that we moved out of our house and the time we could move into our new house. Unlike some of the other estimates I received, Paxton did not charge us any "storage fees" to hold it on their trucks for those 2 days.

+ -1 moreOur sales person, Mike Degnan, came out for an initial estimate. He was one of the only people we interviewed to truly look at the amount of stuff we had to ensure an accurate estimate. When we finally decided on a move date, Mike brought us as many boxes (used, but FREE!!!) that we needed. What a money-saver! On the move day, we had four men come out. They arrived on time, were careful with our items, and worked until very late at night just to make sure we could complete our move in one day (which I desperately wanted, but was difficult considering the amount of stuff we had). The total cost was very close to the estimate and I didn't feel that they overcharged me for anything. Great movers and very professional! Thanks a bunch Roosevelt, Chavis, Charles and William!

THE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WHO PACKED AND ACTUALLY MOVED US WERE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH OUR BELONGINGS. ACTUALLY, WE HAVE MANY ANTIQUES AND I WAS AMAZED BY THE CARE SHOWN WHEN HANDLING EACH PIECE. IF I MOVE AGAIN I WOULD ONLY USE PAXTON VAN LINES AND WOULD LOOK FORWARD TO THE PROCESS.
