Response from Noosa Pest Management LLC
Member- Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves here at Noosa Pest on treating others as we ourselves like to be treated. When clients feel as though we have not met their expectations, we certainly like to hear about the issues and work diligently to resolve them. In this case, we have discussed this at length with the member. The member has a chimney that has separated from the home at the roofline. This separation was caused from incorrect construction by the builder (major flashing install error). Moisture ran down the inside of the chimney, behind the siding and inside a void that was inaccessible. When Noosa Pest performed the initial inspection before the property was treated for termite activity, this area was inaccessible. The termite treatment was performed by Noosa Pest. A few years after the treatment, the siding was removed from the chimney and termite activity was observed. Noosa Pest sent their owner to the property and it was found that this area was not going to be covered under the termite service agreement because there was a substantial conducive condition (conditions favorable) for termite activity. Water damage and wood rot was evident from the top of the chimney to the bottom. This construction defect/maintenance oversight is not the responsibility of Noosa Pest. The construction defect was inspected by a professional roofing contractor (Angie's List Vendor) and this contractor's findings were consistent with Noosa Pest's. Noosa Pest advises homeowners to have their roof and gutters inspected every 12 or 24 months. Proper maintenance of the structure is ultimately the responsibility of the homeowner. The termite service agreement does not cover conducive conditions that are not corrected by the homeowner. Termites must have two elements to survive: Food (wood or cellulose) and water. Anytime water is entering a structure and causing wood rot, it is only a matter of time before termites will find this area. This is why proper maintenance of the home is paramount in defending against termite activity and damage. In the termite service agreement that the member authorized, it states that termite damage that occurs where conducive conditions are evident, will not be covered. Again, we strive to treat others as we ourselves wish to be treated. The responsibility of properly maintaining one's home is not the responsibility of the termite service provider.
