United Flooring is phenomenal. Their team is very hardworking, efficient, and clearly experienced. I have used them for two jobs now. The first was on a hardwood floor with water damage located in a difficult area -- right under two HVAC units that had leaked. The hardwood was glued down to cement or concrete, and several other companies that came to do an estimate were either not interested in how small the job was, or did not know how to deal with the glued hardwood. United Flooring took on the job, did everything on time, and their work was impeccable. They seemed expensive at the time, but the next job proved to me that they are competitive. I moved to a new home and wanted all the hardwood flooring refinished. The upstairs had carpeting I wanted removed and the hardwood underneath buffed and polished. United Flooring had to discarded the rugs and refinish a huge amount of square footage in a matter of three days. The floors are probably 5-7 years old, but they looked beautiful and new when he was done. United Flooring gave me a very good price for what was a larger but more straightforward and traditional hardwood project. Equal to other quotes I obtained. The lady at the office was very responsive with phone calls... always returns calls reliably. I will use United Flooring again in the future when I need anything hardwood related done. Highly recommend!!

I own a older home in Huntersville, which I am renovating. A major part of the project is to replace the old worn out carpets with new hardwood floors and LVT. A friend at the gym highly recommended United Flooring Group to me, after looking them up on Angie?s List I called and spoke to Nicole. She sent out Carlo to give me a free estimate. He came out to my home with plenty of samples to accomplish my goal. Carlo explained, in detail, about the different thicknesses, wear surfaces and coatings available and helped me choose a flooring that not only looked great but was of great quality and value. The information Carlo gave me is highly appreciated! The crew completed my flooring project on time. They were easy to work with, and even cleaned up well when finished. I could tell right away that these guys are seasoned craftsmen. In short I am very satisfied and would highly recommend United Flooring Group to anyone needing floors.

United Flooring team were fantastic. We had a h*** of a time getting anyone to call us back regarding refinishing our kitchen floors, but United Flooring was all over it. They sent out Carlo (salesman) out within 24 hrs to check out what we wanted done and gave us an estimate the same day. Integrity and punctuality are tough to come by in the home repair/remodeling scene, it seems, so Carlo's promptness were greatly appreciated. He didn't give us any run-around or big talk trying to inflate the difficulty of the job. His team were no less conscientious, returning calls and arriving as promised at every occasion. My wife and I both work basically every day and can't usually take time off without a lot of notice, so we (somewhat reluctantly) left keys for them to work on our floors during the day. In retrospect, I had no need to worry. They are completely trustworthy and treated our house respectfully. That's all well and good, you may say, but personal qualities only get you so far. Well, United Flooring team rocked our floors. I mean, the floors and trim look AMAZING.

Couple of years ago we contacted United flooring Group to scheduled a free quote. Carlo arrived on time and was very honest about what could and couldn't not be done to repair our vintage hardwood floors. He was knowledgeable about our vintage floors and gave us the best advice. It turned out that his advice was to live with the squeaky and uneven floors until we are ready to completely tear them out because spot repair would not fix our problems and would cost too much for unsatisfactory results. He gave us this advice knowing that we were not in a position to install new floors and that he would not get any sale or work from this home estimate. He was very professional and honest which my husband and I appreciate. About a month ago we were ready to replace our vintage floors with something more modern, we called UFG back and schedule another free quote, This time Carlo showed up with lots of hardwood samples (pre select from their website) and explain the difference between all of them. At the day of the installation the crew showed up on time and was very friendly, Julio and his team worked very hard and they were very detail orientated. The whole installation took only one day! Im so happy with my new floors that Im thinking about doing the second floor next year!

United Flooring Group did a wonderful job! Last year we hired them to replace our flooring in a home we were trying to sell, this time they install new flooring in a home we just finished building. United Flooring installed bamboo flooring throughout and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen areas. The installation process went very smooth and the results are great! Their crew was fast, hardwood working, professional and courteous. I strong recommend them for your flooring needs.

The work seemed to go well initially. The floors looked great when they were installed. Carlo's firm glued down the floors. Because of the height difference between the tile and hardwoods, an additional layer of plywood was used to raise the level of the hardwoods. Shortly after the house was completed, there were several areas where the floors squeaked and popped significantly. At the time of construction, the framing of the floor has some issues in one area where it was warped so the assumption was that the noise in that area was due to the subfloor being warped and not the installation of the hardwoods. Carlo came out several times under warranty to inject additional glue and then use nails. To be clear, the work described was done by Charlotte Flooring. It's now four years later and there are several additional areas of noise and pops, unrelated to the area where the warping had occurred. As Carlo knows the installation history in detail, I called United to ask him to come out and talk to us about options. His assistant called me back and advised me to call my builder. I explained it had been four years and I was not making a warranty claim but wanted to hire him to look at and address the issues. He refused to call me and didn't return messages to his cell number. I found this to be disappointing and unprofessional. He is in the best position to understand the issues and his unwillingness to come out and help fix issues with flooring he installed on a big job is something Angie's List members should be aware of. I don't know if Carlo is an owner in United Flooring but I felt the unwillingness to even take my phone call was unwarranted and should be reported. This review does not address the quality of work United Flooring does as I have not done business with them and they declined to do business with me.
Description of Work: My house was built four years ago and the builder used Carlo Garcia of Charlotte Flooring which I assume is unrelated to United Flooring. Carlo supervised a team that installed approx 3000 sq feet of hardwood flooring and also tile in several areas of the home.

This is the third time we reached out to United Flooring Group, once again they scheduled the consultation very quickly and Carlo the sales consultant was able to provide a quote to replace our flooring the very same day. We also had a damaged side board in the kitchen and Carlo said that if we supplied a baseboard, he would install it at no additional cost. Carlo and his team showed up right on time and when promised, and everything was completed in the time frame he specified in the quote. This time we were actually going out of the country the day the job started, so when he was finished Carlo took pictures of everything and emailed them to us so we could see how everything turned out. It was a great benefit of working with Carlo to know that everything was done and to see the finished product while we were out of town so we knew we had nothing to worry about. The floors look fantastic and the new baseboard flows perfectly to the rest of the room. We are very happy with United Flooring Group and will definitely keep using them whenever we have any flooring needs!

This is the third time I use Carlo and United Flooring to do my flooring upgrades. This time I dealt mostly with Nick, the sales associate. Nick was equally knowledgeable of the products, polite, and respectful of my time and schedule. We chose a light color tile 24 by 24 which turned out absolutely stunning. The wood flooring followed the same color scheme and really gave our house a wow effect. We have received many compliments from friends and family on both floors. We will continue to use United Flooring in the future due to their incredible attention to detail, friendliness, product knowledge, and competitive prices.

From the receptionist Nicole to the sales professional Nick to the installers that were sent to our property we felt that United Flooring did a professional job in every aspect. I scheduled the initial consult with Nicole and Nick was sent out to our house within 48 hours of us requesting the estimate. Nick went over every aspect of our project with us and gave us a realistic view of what to expect once the demo/install was started. Everything was accurately measured and our estimate ended up being right on with what the final project cost. The installers did a great job and left everything clean and our floors look amazing! I would and have recommended United Flooring to all our neighbors and friends/coworkers and am so happy with the way the floors look and how much value they added to our home. We will definitely use United Flooring again in the future and are now considering installing tile in our kitchen on the second level of our home with them again!

We contracted with United Flooring and they did the work and were paid 12/8/2014. They applied 2 coats of varnish and we requested a third coat as the floor lacked the sheen we knew would be obtained with a third coat. They had to do some repairs before the third coat was applied as some of the varnish turned white and flaky so those areas had to be resanded and varnished before the overall third coat could be applied. They were not happy in having to come back and fix those areas although they did do it. Then they came back and did the third coat. Shortly after the third coat was applied, some areas started turning white and flaky just as it had before. Many of the areas were the same places where there had been a problem before. We have called and called to get them to come back and now they won't even answer the phone.. On the final call, we just asked for a quart of the varnish so that we could get someone else to refinished the defective areas and they will not answer our call nor supply the varnish so that we can get it fixed. I would not recommend this company and would never use them again

I waited a bit to amend this review to make sure I had all the information in hand. It originally started out as a higher star rating (immediately after our job), but my opinion of this company has changed considerably. Here is why - Carlo and his team provided excellent service initially. They showed up on time and returned calls promptly at first. While we were generally satisfied with the work, problems have been noted. One major problem had to do with water damage caused by the moving company they recommended. I will not explain this in too much detail because it was not United Flooring's fault and was eventually remedied through a claim with that company's insurance. Unfortunately, we also had problems with United Flooring. There was an outlet in our floor that was supposed to be covered with hardwoods, but it was not. This was clearly explained to Carlo and we even left a note on the outlet saying to cover it with hardwoods, but we arrived home to find that the outlet was cut out and not capped and covered as we had requested. At first, Carlo seemed very responsive to this problem and did have the boards replaced to cover the outlet. Unfortunately, when the new board was refinished, they tried to do a touch up refinish just on that board. This wasn't effective the first time, so they came out again but still only addressed that one board, and it never matched the rest of the floors. We also had another small spot in our living room that was finished in a touch up fashion. The rest of the floor had two coats applied on different days, but on this spot, the first time they fixed it they simply caulked it. The second time, they replaced the board and tried to apply two coats of finish on the same day, only addressing a very small area and using a blow dryer in between coats. After two attempts to fix it, it looks rough and unprofessionally finished. Eventually, Carlo said he would refinish the entire living room to correct the problem, but we were inconvenienced twice before he offered that solution and his plan was to refinish the living room, not the other floors. Our house is open concept so that would mean the other floors did not match the living room (this is something that four other professional flooring companies have now told us), making the problem even more noticeable in the end. Going back to the water damage we experienced in the kitchen, Carlo's plan was to come out and fix the living room floor at the same time that they assisted us with the kitchen floor problems (replacing that wood and refinishing the wood once the insurance claim was resolved). This made sense because it would mean that the insurance claim paid to replace the boards and sand and refinish the kitchen floors and Carlo's team was only responsible for the costs associated with sanding and refinishing the other half of the house (even he seemed to realize when we originally discussed this plan that the only way to get the floors right was to sand and refinish the whole house). Here's the problem we had with that - when we saw the estimate for the kitchen floors, it was the SAME cost as we originally paid to have our entire downstairs done. The original project included pulling up carpet in the living room and putting down hardwoods, putting down hardwoods throughout the entire kitchen and sanding and refinishing the entire downstairs with the exception of the office. Certainly replacing some boards in the kitchen and sanding and refinishing that portion of the floors should not have cost the same as completing all that work throughout our entire downstairs. The only thing we could figure was that United Flooring was trying to get away with having someone else pay to fix their mistake in our living room along with the hardwoods in the kitchen. If they stand behind their work, then fixing the floors in the living room right should not have been something that we or an insurance company claim were paying for. In addition to all this, Carlo's communication became worse and worse. My opinion is that if your install goes well, this company is great to use. They're prompt in communicating when they're trying to get your business and immediately after the job. If there are problems though, they try to take shortcuts and their communication suffers too. As a result, we won't use them again and would not recommend them. We are going with another company to have our kitchen floors fixed and at the same time, they will fix the problems that United Flooring never resolved in our living room.

I just purchased a 2200 sq ft home in the suburbs of Charlotte and decided to rip out the current carpet in the house except the bedrooms. United Flooring Group installed floors in approximately 950 sq ft of area. This included Foyer, Living Room, Dining Room, and Family Room. We also wanted new tiles by the main door and by the garage door. The tile jobs were very small. We wanted the rustic look, however with the amount of wood needed for this job, we wanted to be price conscious as well. Carlo recommended using unfinished Oak flooring for the job. He showed me few samples. My wife and really like the samples and decided to proceed with the job. We had a few questions along the way and Carlo answered every question with a smile. He is very patient and works late if necessary to complete the job. We are very happy with the floors and they look awesome. I would highly recommend him and United Flooring Group for any type of hardwood and tile floor job!

My husband and I bought our place in 2014. One of the selling features of the condo unit was the hardwood floors in the living areas and hallway (the bedrooms were carpeted and the kitchen had vinyl). We really wanted to have all solid hardwoods in our bedroom and tile in our kitchen floor. Finally we decided that it's time to get the old flooring out! We had 4 different bids from highly rated companies. Not only were all the prices so different, the options they gave us were different as well! We liked the competitive pricing that United Flooring Group gave us and the options as well. We didn't have to only get one type of flooring (we were told by one contractor that we could ONLY get engineered wood floors in the bedrooms due to the concrete underlayment) so we had options. It was so nice to know we could get solid hardwood if we wanted or we could go a different route if we chose. We ultimately went with solid hardwood to match the rest of our place in our bedroom and heated porcelain tile in the kitchen! United Flooring started on a Tuesday morning and were done by Friday evening!! Everything got in fast. The guys that came in and worked were professional and knowledgeable. Our floors look fantastic! I couldn't be happier with the results! My only complaint? The hardwood floors that United Flooring put in our bedroom look so much better than our original hardwood floors in our living areas and hallway! I highly recommend them!

I worked with Carlo from United Flooring Group recently on a home we purchased in Charlotte, NC. I was optimistic about meeting him after reading all the reviews on Angie?s List and was not disappointed. He arrived on time for his appointment to assess the project and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. It was a large project, consisting of installing, sanding and refinishing 6,000 square feet of hardwood floor in our new home and 300 square feet of tile installation. One of the challenging aspects of the project was a large living room of herringbone wood, inset every few feet with tile squares. United Flooring team did a fantastic job of sanding the herringbone and hand-sanding around the tile pieces. A few things I look for in every contractor are: punctuality, communication, experience, personality, high standards, and a good value. United Flooring met all these criteria in spades. Carlo was always reachable by cell phone, started and ended the project right on time, has a decade of experience in the field, was always pleasant to work with, was only happy with the highest quality product, and was a tremendous value. I should have heeded his warning about the dust, though. He said we would need a cleaning crew to come in after he was finished, and he was right. While the floors were clean and beautiful, the walls and everything else needed a good dusting. Take his advice and get a cleaning crew in!

These guys are THE BEST OF THE BEST I wanted to get our hardwood floors refinished (sanded down then stained). I contacted 3 different flooring contractors. United Flooring Group quote was BY FAR the most competitive, their prices were about 30% better than the nearest competitor. What I liked most was that their price was $/sqft as opposed to some arbitrary fixed rate that other companies were quoting. This was particularly helpful for us because while we had a 3 bedroom unit, our bedrooms were carpeted so it was only the living/dining/kitchen/common areas that needed to be worked upon. I spoke to Carlo over the phone and he's a super friendly guy. He gave me thorough description of the work that would be done (#coats of stain, #coats of finish, oil based polyurethane vs water based) and the type/variety of stains he had available. We mentioned we wanted the stain to be darker to match our kitchen cabinets. He let me know that he would send on of his technicians to sand a section of our kitchen floor and lay down few different stain samples so we could choose based on our preference. Fabricio were the one who did the samples. He arrived right on time with all the necessary equipment. He also provided us very useful information - He told us what our current stain was, and suggested what darker stains they had, and the most popular choices. He quickly sanded down a patch of floor and applied two dark stains for us to choose from (he did say they could provide additional samples if necessary). But we loved the Jacobean stain and picked it. He answered all our questions thoroughly - what type of gloss, how long the work would take, how long the polyurethane smell would last, how long we should leave the air conditioner on vs window open etc. And everything matched their timeline perfectly! Finally, the cherry on top....THE FINISH WAS INCREDIBLE. The floors looked brand new and perfectly complemented our cabinetry as we wanted. With the sun coming down, we could barely notice any blemishes even though the floors themselves were almost 7 years old. I was so pleased with United Flooring Group I had Carlo comeback and give me an estimate to install tile in our bathroom floor. This time they sent out a different installer (Oscar) but his work was just as good a Fabricio! All in all - we could not have been more satisfied with their work, and we cannot recommend them any higher if you have any wood flooring needs!

Our floors were beat up! They weren't beyond repair, but they were scraped, scratched, dinged and dull everywhere you look. We decided it was time to take the leap and get them refinished. Luckily our neighbors had recently had a great experience with United Flooring and we saw the beautiful results they got from him - so we knew they were reliable, exacting in details and provided an excellent finished product. Well, we got all that and more. United Flooring replaced half of the floor in our powder room due to some water damage, and you cannot see a difference in the new and the old floor. Carlo (the sales rep) talked us through stains and finishes, and we wound up going from scratched amber floors to gorgeous dark floors with a lovely satin water base finish. And our place was left in a remarkably clean condition! Of course some dust is unavoidable, but the crew left our place tidy every night and as spotless as reasonably possible upon completion of the job. We could not be happier with the results, and at a very fair price. Could you find cheaper? Maybe. Can you find cheaper and better or comparable quality? I doubt it. Go with United Flooring and you'll get a company who cares about your floors as much as you do, and you'll wind up wishing you'd hired him years ago.
Description of Work: Hardwood Installation - Hardwood Refinishing
We had started remodeling the bathroom on our own and had become limited in our availability to work on it so we decided to hire somebody to lay the tile. We search Angie's list and decided to call United flooring because they state that they do not subcontract, they work with natural stone (we used slate) and they had great reviews. Carlo came to our house to give us a quote. He was helpful during this initial interaction. We decided to use the company and they sent a contract over to us. We had to modify the contract a bit because it's wording had the potential to negatively affect the homeowner if there was a work stoppage for any reason. Having removed that, we signed the contract and paid half the amount upfront. On the morning on 5/6 Oscar showed up to perform the work. My husband met with him and he was quite frazzled because he realized he needed his tile saw (which he stated Carlo never told him he would need). So, as my husband was trying to walk through how we wanted things done, Oscar was much more focused on figuring out how to get his tile saw. My husband went to work and I came home a couple of hours later. Initially it looked like Oscar was doing a fine job, until I noticed that (as per the contract) he never did any waterproofing underneath the tiles that he put up. Again, Oscar stated that Carlo never told him that he needed to waterproof. I made Oscar stop working at this point. I immediately called United Flooring and spoke with Nicole. She called Carlo. The initial solution they gave me was to waterproof the rest except of the area that they had already put up. Wrong answer! This is a shower area, that would be an incredibly stupid idea. I asked Oscar to see if he could start pulling the tiles down at this point before the thinset began to harden too much. He was able to and began removing tiles. In the meantime, I am speaking with Nicole about how we are going to resolve this. At this point she tells me that they will refund our money and will no longer be able to complete the work. The reason is because they just fired Oscar (and he was their only tile guy). Really, you just fired a man who is still in my house right now? Nicole was the one informing me of this, and to her credit, she was very nice and was just as confused as I was. However, Carlo who was making all of these decisions would not call me. I believe Nicole could attest to the fact that while I was concerned and this was a challenging moment, I was in no way disrespectful or out of control. Carlo was becoming more and more unprofessional at this point and despite my requests would not call. So as Oscar is removing tiles I confirm with Nicole that: 1.he has been fired and 2. that he was informed of this. She told me yes to both of these things. Finally, after way too much effort, I finally talked to Carlo. He also confirmed that Oscar had been fired. Oscar was still trying to get tiles down from my wall at this point so it seemed odd to me that if he was just fired, why would he still be doing work? Nevertheless, I told Carlo that if he no longer works for United Flooring, then he needs to be out of my house. Carlo got quite testy at this point, which was appalling to me. He ask me if I really wanted to do that considering Oscar was doing me a favor by getting the tiles down for me. However, if this man was just fired by Carlo then I am no longer aware of his insurance/bonding/licensing etc. If anything happened to Oscar at this point, it could be a legal nightmare for me. Carlo could not seem to grasp this. Reluctantly, Carlo called Oscar and asked him to leave the premise. I told Oscar that it was not personal but since Carlo just fired him he could not be in my house. Oscar told me he was not fired! Pretty shady there, Carlo. So Oscar left, we have thinset drying on our walls (even though Oscar got a lot of it off), tiles that have thinset on them and we are now in a worse position then before we began thanks to United Flooring. We send an email to Carlo and spoke with him the next day. We told him that many of the tiles that were removed are now unusable and his humble response was that they could have cleaned them better if I had not kicked Oscar out. Unbelievable. Carlo fired him, of course we kicked him out. We have had to purchase about 50 square feet of new tiles (which unfortunately are not an exact match to the old ones). United Flooring paid for this. Luckily for them the materials we bought were being discontinued and were quite inexpensive at this point. The other bright side is that we ended up finding another company, Argentile and Marble. They ended up doing more work than United Flooring was going to do for us (and it was less expensive). Lazaro and Franklin were incredible and HONEST! They did beautiful work. I highly recommend them!!

United Flooring Group did an excellent job installing my new hardwood floors. The crew was very polite and on time! Everyone in the office was a joy to work with.
Description of Work: Replaced our vinyl flooring with hardwood floors.
They were as good as many other prior reviewers have already indicated. We were contacted with 24 hours and scheduled an appointment several days later to obtain an estimate. Nick was very cordial and professional when he met with us to discuss the work we wanted to have done. He provided two estimates before he ever left our house. Nick was very clear in explaining that the difference between the two estimates was related to the choice in the quality of the flooring materials. We chose to go with the more expensive estimate because we are planning to stay in our house for the foreseeable future. Nick was able to accommodate our requested date for installation. On the day of the installation the crew showed up a little later than scheduled but this wasn't a big issue since I work at home. The crew was very professional and efficient and completed the installation in approximately 7 hours. They cleaned the floors and their outside work area to the point that it was difficult to tell they had ever been here. I highly recommend United Flooring Group for those considering installing new hardwood flooring.
Description of Work: Replace carpet in two average-sized bedrooms and closets with hardwood flooring.
I did my homework before hiring these guys and I am so glad I did. My friend and I were both having our homes done at the same time and he hired another local flooring company and was given the run around and excuse after excuse for every little thing that came up. The sales person that came out to my home was very helpful and personable, not pushy at all! He had lots of flooring samples with him and he was also able to give me an estimate on the spot that was right in line with most of the other quotes I've been given. The girl at the office that scheduled my installation were professional and pleasant to deal with on the phone, and my installers that put in my new flooring did a fantastic job and cleaned up after themselves. My friend across the street went through a rough experience compared to what I went through and I am so happy I chose United Flooring Group.

Carlo came out on 3/27 to provide an estimate for what I wanted. He was prompt and very professional, providing samples and explaining the different types of flooring. We settled on something that would match some wooden fixtures already in my house and then he went out to his truck and wrote up an estimate in about 15 minutes. The estimate was way below what I was expecting so I happily agreed to schedule a time. On the installation date, the guys arrived right on time and moved the larger pieces of furniture to the garage and got started while I went to work. The whole process was done by the time I got home and the house looks amazing! I could not be happier and will most definitely use United Flooring again for future projects. They were courteous, professional and economical while still providing a top notch floor. Kudos.

Great quality of bamboo and tile. The installation performed by United Flooring was efficient and done to perfection. The bamboo flooring was a great price and unique, we were unable to find that bamboo anywhere else. We were so pleased with the service we purchased tile for our laundry as well. Overall a fantastic experience.
