March 2018 Kevin from Muskrat took away my old styrofoam floats and replaced them with Formex, encapsulated ones. Wolf decking replaced the wooden surface. Kevin was prompt, I visited a site where he was working with the same decking. He sent me a quote and a few days later he was working on my dock! He sent pictures of the progress. And made a gate for my deck to keep my dog out of the lake occasionally! Totally delighted with his work, and he is a nice guy!

The new dock looks great, and we are really pleased with the final product and quality of construction. Kevin and Pete were on time and on budget using top grade marine quality products through-out with steel reinforced corners and innovative below-water bracing to stabilize the three floating pier fingers. Final appearance features included premium bumper rubber, new rope rails, new pilings & post caps.

I'd recommend Kevin for anything dock related. ?He was the only company that told me what should be replaced rather than just telling me everything had to be replaced. ?By doing this he probably saved me $3000 worth of unnecessary repairs. ?He and his crew were prompt both for the quote and the work. ?Professional, friendly service. ?Would not hesitate to call them again. ?

Excellent job on installing new boat lift. Kevin was great to work with and he was extremely well educated on the issues i was having with my old lift.

Excellent! The team was on time, professional, and quick. All work was completed in 1/2 day. I was walked through the process, given suggestions on what I can do myself in the future, and given a run down of everything repaired, replaced, and looked after. They had a very busy schedule but they were able to work me into there schedule between other jobs and weather. They will have my future business!!

Muskrat/Kevin converted my boatlift from V-hull to pontoon 5 years ago when I bought the house, and replaced the cables last year. One of the cables had come off its pulley and was wedged where it kept one corner of the boat up out of the water. I called Kevin and he arrived an hour or so later with his tools, rigged a come-along to lift the boat's weight off the cable, jumped in the water to get to the pulley and pried it loose (the water is so far down it was only chest deep). While I suspect I caught him on a slow day, it's still amazing service - 2 1/2 hours after my first call it was fixed, and that included 30 minutes driving time! And even more amazing: NO CHARGE!

Very pleased with Kevin and his service. I made first contact after finding his company on Angie's List. He promptly responded to my inquiry, scheduled a service call, arrived on time, and preformed the annual cable boat lift service requested. During that service call, he identified a structural failure on my floating dock (built by another contractor). Thereafter he graciously agreed to work my small repair into his pending job commitments. Within a couple of weeks, he scheduled another service call, arrived on time and performed the needed repair efficiently and effectively. In both instances, the charges were as quoted and in my opinion fair and reasonable. I have no hesitancy in recommending Kevin and Muskrat Construction to others.

Pete and Kevin (father and son) have been the best experience I've had with a contractor in a decade where we've owned 3 different homes. They arrive on time to both pre-job appointments and daily work. They stuck to the original price and timeline (both start date and time to completion). They were courteous, kept me informed, and willing to answer questions I had. They cleaned up their mess and the dock looked fantastic. Two years in and no issues. If you live on Lake Wylie and specifically Tega Cay you are pretty limited to dock builders due to the City's stringent permit process. Easy advice: hire Muskrat and don't look back.

The cable broke on a Friday. It took me a while to remember Muskrat's name - I had used them 4 years ago - but I called them on Saturday and was surprised to get a call back later that day. I explained the problem. He offered to price 1/4and quot; and 5/16and quot; cable (the heavier would last longer), and said he would call back on Monday with a quote and schedule. He did so, fit me in between other jobs, and they came later in the week as scheduled, and did the work. No drama - just a good job done.

They were fair and the prices were competitive. They were very friendly and came out very punctually. They were quick to offer to come out to our house for the project at no charge and there are very few people who offer that. They were prompt.

It turned out very well. Their price was very reasonable. I purchased the brackets myself as I had a contact. Muskrat was excellent as they were able to use those brackets without complaints.

I called and made an appointment with Kevin for an estimate for Fri Sep 6th. He never showed and never called.

They exceeded my expectations with their professionalism and responsiveness. They came to me the next day after my contact and fixed it on the spot. I know this is not always possible, but they knew what they are doing. What was most impressive was their honesty as they said I did not need to do more than this. They also looked at the flotation devices on the dock and probably will replace them for me. I was so delighted with their work that I know I will use them in the future and will refer them to friends. Classy, classy workmanship and business handling. I think their responsiveness is a critical success factor in their business.

Asked have them come out and give a bid. Came out looked at the job, sent me an email and said he would be back to me with a bid. Never followed up or sent any further information. Must be so busy they don't need the business.

We had first contacted a different builder to get a quote for building our dock. The representative for that company visited our property and we spent an hour going over what we wanted. That representative came to the appointment empty-handed. He took no notes, and didn't have any pictures or references. He also promised to bring us pictures of other work they had done the next day, but never showed up. When we finally got the specs, it looked nothing like what we said we wanted. Then we contacted Muskrat Construction. They came prepared! Kevin brought his laptop with pictures of other work they had done, gave us references of other docks we could look at and talk with the owners, he took notes about what we discussed and gave us detailed drawings that represented exactly what we had said we wanted. We received a detailed, professional proposal that outlined exactly what work would be done, exactly how much it would cost, and at what points during the process payments would be expected. We went into the project with a very clear picture of what to expect. Muskrat did everything they said they would and more! They spent extra time to help guide us through the process of getting the permits we needed to get started. They started work when they said they would and did everything just the way we wanted it throughout the project. The workmanship was first-rate. We had asked for special pickets in the railing to match the stair railing and sitting area that already existed on the property. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Muskrat even finished the handrails and placed the pickets so that the new part they constructed was a perfect match to what was already on our property. Their attention to little details like that plus the overall care and craftmanship that is evident in the work they did gave us a first-class job. Plus they are just plain NICE people to do business with. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of our dock and boat lift. Our entire experience with Muskrat Construction was outstanding!

I had a verbal contract on a minor portion of the work which was done in short order and I paid them on the day of the work around $900. The minor work was done satisfactorily. The majority of the work was much more extensive and estimated around $13,000. I was asked to pay over half of the estimate at the time of signing the contract with no defined start date. I was able to find another builder who did not ask me to pay anything until the materials and workmen were on the job.

I called Muskrat on a Saturday and Kevin answered my call. I explained the problems I was having and we made an appointment for him to come look at it the next Friday at 8:30 am. He showed up promptly at 8:30 am that Friday. He looked at my dock, agreed with what I wanted done and provided an estimate to me via e-mail that same day. I accepted his estimate and he said he could be out the following Thursday and Friday to do the work. Kevin and Peter showed up about 9:00 am that Thursday and was able to complete the work that day. The work was done on time and cleanly. Kevin and Peter answered any and all questions I had. I would definitely recommend them and I would use them again.

We had our shore line restored and about 45' of rip-rap added to avoid any future erosion issues. We also had Kevin remove an old rotting roof and sun deck along with a rusted out boat lift off of our floating dock. The floating dock was fixed up where the roof post originally connected so that it looked like new. Kevin and his crew at Muskrat did an exceptional job and did it quickly; they completed the job in a few days. They were very careful not to disturb the rest of the property while hauling in rocks for the rip-rap. Since I was out of town at the time, Kevin kept me up-to-date via e-mail with pictures of the progress. Kevin was great to work with. He was always quick to get back with me on whatever questions I had. He gave me some realistic options regarding how to best fix up my water front in a cost effective manner. I will use Muskrat Construction again in the future if I ever need any further dock work done.

I called Muskratconstruction twice and both times Kevin called me back the same day. We had just moved and I had to many list going. He took the time to chat with me about our lift problem-I explained to him that we were new boat/boat lift owners. He was so nice both times and he told me that he spoke with me last week. Kevin could not do exactly what we needed to do at that time but he gave me the name of a guy that could. I think that is pretty remarkable that he would take the time to call me back twice knowing that he could not help me.. I would call them back if I needed anything regarding our boat lift. The guy he sent me to is awesome as well. Thanks Kevin for you help.

There were multiple changes made in the plans for the stationary pier and ramp. Pete and Kevin worked with me to give us the best product and design that would fit our needs. The day the contract was signed, they started on the project and finished it promptly ( weather permitting). Material that was torn down was removed by them was removed completely in an efficient manner. Pete Allen was a pleasure to deal during all discussions and responded to my calls and emails in a timely manner. We will have them return to repair other structures and highly recommend them.
