The office staff was very helpful (I had a lot of questions). The technician, Trey, was very professional and knowledgeable. I think he may have talked me into upgrading from the Standard Plan (2 unit check ups per year) to the Deluxe Plan to include (2) accessory check ups as well (for me the dryer vent and water heater). Looking forward to having them back out in the spring to check my A/C.

seem concerned at all and no one contacted me. I hired another heating repair company. They fix it and it's been good to go ever since. One note, I'd have to go back through my records, but I believe when I purchased the HUD home the A/C heating system was replaced in 2008. The house was built in in 2004. I would never use tis company again ever.
Description of Work: The heat went off in a rental property in Dec. 2013 Horne Heating went out did a fix. They wanted to replace parts and the whole system, etc. due to age and stated this on the invoice: RECOMMENDATION: Ignitor(s) showing signs of weakness and should be Replaced to ensure your system remains operational ($250-$300 ) RECOMMENDATION: System replacement due to age or condition of existing equipment. Any service repairs (less the system assessment fee) will be credited towards a system replacement within 45 days of service. Then the heat went out for a second time in January 2014. They went out Jan 6, 2014 and fixed again. I was charged me $374.and on that invoice stated the following:: Non-PEP System Assessment: Normal Hours Found hot surface igniter reading very high ohms replaced hsi. And cleaned flame sensor. Running normal at this time. 1.00 022537 Trane-American Standard Ignitor 257.00 257.00 RECOMMENDATION: If the same thing happens again, may need to replace the flame sensor and control. Removed old limit and installed new one. Tested heat to make sure it stayed on. It did. System is heating. 1.00 022435 York-Coleman Limit Control Then approx. a week later the heat went out again...at this point I'm starting to see a pattern. I called and let them know it was broke again. I said it was a courtesy/notification call that it had broke again. I stated I would use them again. No call back from anyone at Horne

He put in Stop Leak and refrigerant. I plan to sign for routine maintenance. Meant to do it sooner but forgot until now.
Description of Work: My air conditioner wasn't working. I used a Big Deal AC Tune-up for the job. Cleaned it up, found a leaky coil, and that it was low on refrigerant.

Initial install went very well. i thought they were generous in agreeing to take out an old heat pump that was sitting in the attic. It was done a few hours earlier than they had estimated. After they left the AC seemed to be working fine. when they time came for the heat portion to function we were not happy with the way it was working. We called Horne and within a few days the issue was tracked down, the problems were solved, and we are now very happy with this company, the product they sold us, and the services they provide. Good, professional, polite people. I will continue to use and recommend them.

The furnace stopped working in my rental property the first cold spell of they year. Since it was the first cold spell, every heating company was busy. Horne was prompt in assessing the situation and was great dealing with the tenant as well as providing the information directly to me. I had two other companies also look at the problem and did a little internet research to understand the problem. I did not tell Horne that I already knew what the problem was. They came to the same conclusion of the problem as the first two companies but gave me multiple options to fix the problem. Apparently, it's very common to be told you have to replace the entire system when it's not essential that you do. The first company told me I had to do that. Horne went through various options for me and were so honest and reasonably priced (they gave me a big discount on the entire replacement) that I decided to go ahead and replace the whole system for about the price that the first company wanted for just the furnace. They even sent me cookies for Christmas!

I contacted Horne Heating and Air and they got back to me quickly. Bill was on site not long after. Bill was very professional and took the time to go over what the problem was and my options. He had my heat working in no time.
Description of Work: Water was frozen in the drain line causing the unit to shut down. He cut the line and set it up so that the water would drain into the drip pan if the drain line to the outside was frozen.

We moved into this house early summer of 2013. In the Fall, I saw on Angie's List that Horne had a special for servicing heating unit. We scheduled Horne to come out to service and check the unit before winter. While at the house, the technician said the thermostat we had didn't go with the 2-stage unit and we were not getting the benefits we should from the 2-stage unit. Since I did not like the thermostat, we had Horne install the correct one for our Trane unit. Horne was offering a special in November. The technician came back and installed the new unit and explained how it worked. It is a thermostate I had at the old house. All is running great. We will continue to stay with Horne.

Mr Price called me several times to let me know how far away he was and when he would be arriving. I already had my filters and these were changed. My furnace is in the attic so unfortunately I don't have an easy time going up there to see the work that is done. I got a detailed invoice listing the work done and the recommendations all which was told to me when Mr Price was done. He explained everything I asked about. What was done: Gas Furnace Tune Up: heat rise, indoor ambient temp,condensate drain & pump inspection, amps, blower motor inspected, gas connections, manifold gas pressure, verified gas valve operation, check burner operation, test therocouple, test igniter, t-stat, exhaust venting, safeties checked, ductwork inspection

not such a happy experience, and the second call that took three hoirs also cost additional...so we were not happy customers, but did not want to take a third chance on them...thus the call to anothe provider who diagnosed the problem in less than 30 minutes.
Description of Work: They came out to do a tune up, and completed that, but a week later the air conditioner froze up...they returned, spent three hours trying to diagnose the problem, and told us to open up one vent that was partially closed upstairs...a week later, the system froze again, and we called another provider, who added refrigerant, and the system has worked properly since...the original call, the tech said that the level of refrigerant was just fine...

Thank you for your feedback on Angie's List. I was able to review the history of our July 22, 2013 Big Deal Tune-up and follow-up call on August 5, 2013; and would like to point out a few details that were not mentioned in your report. We completed the tune-up as per the terms and conditions specified on the coupon. A that time the refrigerant pressures were checked and found to be sufficient on the system, and it was cooling properly after the service. 2 weeks after the Big Deal tune-up we received a call about a cooling concern at the home. We responded the same day and diagnosed the problem. Refrigerant pressures checked ok during the second visit an our technician found several vents closed on the zone system, restrictive air filters installed, and set points too far apart for a single-stage, bypass zone system. Only our standard system assessment was charged for the second visit, during which the technician took extra time to discuss recommended operation and set points of the zone system, as well as the importance of proper airflow for the bypass zoning. The system began cooling properly after the supply vents were opened and the set points were adjusted for the zoning system. Again, refrigerant pressures were spot on per manufacturer’s specification. If another contractor added refrigerant to the system, it may well be overcharged and could lead to additional problems with the major components. We are indeed sorry to read 5 months after the service that you were not satisfied. Our team would have been happy to review the services again in person, in an effort to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. Again, we are thankful for the feedback but would have also liked the opportunity to address your concern in July or August, not 5 months post-service, and not after receiving an “F” on Angie’s List. The service man was quick and diagnosed the problem. He explained the problem to us and showed us the part that needed replacement. It was a part that thankfully was in stock. The service man stayed while someone brought the part. Once the service man got the part he efficiently worked his magic and then he checked all the registers to make sure we had heat. We felt that we were treated with courtesy and fairness and recommend this company to our friends. Mr. Horne followed up to make sure we had good service.
Description of Work: A+ The day before a really cold snap our young renters reported that they had no heat in the house. We quickly gave them Horne Heating as the only service we used and asked them to call because the weather was going to take a nose dive. We thought that they could set up a good time to meet the service man. The next morning we called the renters to find out they had not made the call. The temperature had dropped into freezing range and I felt we had no chance getting service that day. The company agreed to meet us that afternoon and called before coming!

They are on Angie's List. I selected them after I saw 10 or 15 companies. I'm pleased with them. They do good work, they are on time, their prices are competitive, and I like them. They work only with Trane which is a good product. It's a good company. They are reasonably priced, they come out on time, and they are straightforward. Their price was very good and their warranty was far and away the best. It's a 10-year warranty. Their quality is excellent.

The company is very responsive throughout the process. I purchased a Big Deal for the fall HVAC check. We just moved in and I didn't realized I'd need two coupons to have both systems checked out. I appreciated that I was able to purchase the additional service on the spot at the Big Deal price. The technician was very professional and communicative. During the course of the service he helped me learn about our system and provided some valuable advice. I will consider using them on a regular basis. However, I will get a few more estimates from other Angie's List providers first. The price was very high compared to a similar contract I had with a provider in DC before we moved. I paid $134 for a yearly contract which included twice yearly service calls. So the $230 annually I'd pay for comparable service up North (for two HVAC units), only covers one seasonal service in NC!
