They were quite anxious to take my name and credit card number! Called them first thing in the morning for needing air conditioner repair. They were happy to take my name, credit card number and let me know that it was $99 for them to show up. By 2:00, no call, no communication! I CALLED THEM - they could not give an estimated time to even show up. That morning they said "some time today." At 2 when I initiated communication, they said maybe today or tomorrow. I initiated ANOTHER call at 5:15 (got answering service - which is misleading as they publicize their "hours"). When they called back, they said it would be tomorrow to get repair. I asked if it would be morning, afternoon? They would only say "sometime before 5 tomorrow." I tried to ask why and she repeated that again. Very disappointed - and will be putting experience on my neighborhood "Nextdoor" and web page. Will also be recommending the GREAT person that did come out, fixed it, and did not ask any info until work was completed (in an efficient manner) and showed up EARLY and within his verbalized time frame. (All Phase Heating and Air)

In an effort to clarify for other members, please let it be known you were CLEARLY made aware of the work-in status of your service appointment and the required credit card within 45 seconds of the initial phone call to our company. At that point in time you were also reluctant to provide the credit card to our staff as a placeholder for new clients. This only further delayed our response time as calls were flooding into our office. Yes the follow-up communications to/from our office did further confirm your work-in status, but our team was doing their best to provide service to all clients that needed attention that day. We're sorry you decided to cancel the service and we were not given an opportunity to prove our high marks on Angie's List... but this degrading review is simply unfair and appears to be posted out of sheer frustration, even though you were explained of the delays from the get go. Okay, hands down Horne Heating and Air Conditioning is the BEST service we have EVER received from a heating and Air Conditioning Company. Just to keep this short and sweet: Originally I called BROTHERS because they are the ones that installed the Heating/AC system, BROTHER'S estimate was $1416.00 because "the Evaporator Coil needed to be replace." Hearing the estimate I literally laughed out loud and told the tech "I'm not giving you $1,400 at which point the technician says "Okay, well how about half a charge of refrigerant? What is this...Let's Make A Deal?" I to the guy to get out my driveway and I'd would NEVER use Brother's services again. How can you go from $1416.00 for an Evaporator Coil to $265.00 for "half" a charge of refrigerant. Not a good sign, so I told the guy to get out of my driveway and I'd NEVER need BROTHER'S services again. But this is about HORNE Heating and Air Conditioning. The tech was friendly and professional, he checked my system out and told me right away that I needed to have refrigerant added to the system and a couple of my Schrader Valve Cores needed to be replaced...I asked him how much that would cost and he told me around $270.00.....Okay, $270 were do I sign. Air Conditioner is up and running, my wife is happy and I'm happy. My ONLY complaint is I wish they could schedule their appointment's better. Having a technician call you 15 minutes before they come out can waste a whole day, which was the case for me. Thank you SO very much HORNE for your straight forward and HONEST professionalism. BROTHERS could learn a lot from your company. If you or your families heating and air conditioning unit stops working give HORNE a call, you will not be disappointed!

Tech arrived and we explained that we had turned off the A/C unit after finding coil frozen up. He performed leak search, but was unable to find anything. He thought it could be in the coil or in the supply line to the outside unit. He said he would send someone out on 5/14 to provide quotes on repairing or replacing existing unit. Mike Proctor came out on 5/14, and immediately suggested a whole brand new Trane system, inside and out, changing from R22 to 410A. I told him that we told two days earlier that he would be coming out to bid on repairing the existing unit, and he stated that our current model was a poor quality brand and we needed to update the entire system from R22 to 410A. He left his card and said he would call or email with three different quotes for three different priced brand new Trane systems. He never called or emailed. We found another company that replaced only the coil. Based on our experience, we will not use or refer Horne to anyone.

I'd highly recommend Horne. I had a very old system downstairs that needed to be replaced. They provided proposals for different systems, allowing me to choose which best fit my needs. They gave me plenty of options (A/C with or without furnace, different levels of effeciency). They made it easy to pick which would be best for my house, and were able to start installation in under a week. The installation crew was wonderful, they spent two days working in my house and were very respectful. I have a young child, and they were constantly checking his nap schedule before they began any loud work. There were some very tricky issues with my house because it is 90 years old. They managed to install the new system without any issues, and had it up and running within the timeframe they promised. I am very pleased with their service. While I doubt they are the cheapest option on the market, you get what you pay for. When dealing with A/C or heat, you want the best service, and you need someone you can trust. I would definitely use Horne again.

I put in a service request to Horne Heating and Air through their website on Sunday 5/18/2014. Within an hour I had an e-mail from a gentleman advising me to call first thing Monday am to get the service scheduled. They beat me to it and called me first thing Monday morning and had someone at my home at 2:00pm Monday afternoon. Lee was great. It was very obvious that the capacitor was the problem as it had exploded inside the area where it was mounted (it actually blew one of the wires off of the top of it). he replaced it and tested the system for proper coolant levels explaining explaining everything. He added some refrigerant and the upstairs is cool again. The only thing better than the service was the quickness in which it was scheduled and performed.
Description of Work: Lee from Horne Heating and Air replaced a capacitor that had blown up (literally) on one of my AC units as well as added 1lb of refrigerant to the unit.

They did a great job. I was having some issues with the furnace and was able to use this as both a diagnosis and tune up, and paid the additional cost for the repairs that were needed (don't recall the cost of those offhand). They were very professional and explained exactly what the issues were and what was needed, and were able to make the repair fairly inexpensively when they probably could have tried to upcharge for something more detailed that ultimately wasn't needed. I would definitely recommend them.

We are in the process of selling our home and needed to clarify some things on the inspection report regarding HVAC. Horne had replaced three systems in our home less than two years ago and we have had no problems at all with their work. After reviewing the inspection report, Horne quickly took the time to clarify the work they had done and even provided us with an inspection report from the county, verifying that their work was up to code and quality. Dean and Courtney were great to work with during a busy time for us!
Description of Work: Horne reviewed some items on an inspection report for new buyers at our home. Less than two years ago, they installed three new HVAC systems and all new duct work.

It's Horne all they way. Their service people are beyond reproach.
Description of Work: They performed the spring service on my Trane SER air conditioner. I pay monthly and within that monthly fee I receive a clothes dryer duct cleaning (every other year) and filters that come with the service. They are the ones who replaced the air conditioner, furnace and duct work to correct flow about six years ago. They also installed the water heater.

Our heat pump (like an AC but cost somewhat less) stopped working (4-5 yr old). Contacted Horne Heating and Air Conditioning. Was told the diagnostic fee would be $90, regardless any further work. Their technician Trey Kerr came, and found the motor capacitor was bad. The replacement cost would be $190 for the capacitor. We agreed to have it replaced. After the capacitor was replaced, the fan worked. But Trey found the compressor still didn?t work. He removed the top cover and checked the compressor, and confirmed the compressor was bad. Called the office and got a quote for replacing the compressor total $2500, plus $190 for the motor capacitor. We were not sure if it would be a good idea to spend ~$2700 to get it repaired or simply get a new one. At the end, we paid $90 diagnostic fee plus additional $124 for checking the compressor, for total about 1 hr?s work. After taken off $30 Angies? list coupon, the net cost was $184. We didn?t keep the capacitor, because not certain what to do about the system. Appreciate any suggestion.

Our technician followed proper procedure to test through the AC unit and determined the compressor had indeed failed. Unfortunately that is an expensive component to replace and is at times not worth the investment based on the age of the equipment. The capacitor was changed as a first step to diagnose the problem and as you mentioned, was removed after your decision was made to hold off on any further repairs. The additional charges were related to our technician's time spent further troubleshooting the equipment in an effort to identify the problem, and we did honor the current Angie's List service incentive. I purchased a Big Deal, and when I called to schedule the appointment a few months later, the man on the phone was very extemely friendly and courteous. He scheduled an appointment for me for the technician to come out. The technician did an excellent job. I did have some concerns about punctuality, and I followed up with the company because of the delay. The receptionist did not follow up with the technician like she said she would, but when the technician arrived we discussed it, and he recommended that I call the office to follow up. I received several follow up phone calls inquiring about customer service. I would highly recommend this company.

We've used Horne several times with issues we've had with our heating and air. We've had a great experience with the technicians. They've always been able to get out there the same day. The technicians always call when close. They service the unit as we need and they always give us tips and tricks of things to try if we have ongoing issues. I sincerely appreciate that they share their knowledge with us versus trying to up sell us with expensive services. This makes me feel like they are not trying to take advantage of us and will make me a loyal customer.

We tried to run the air to cool the house down this spring only to find that it the AC was not functioning. Called Horne and had an appointment scheduled for the next day. Upon diagnosis it was determined that the AC had failed and that a new one was needed. The technician immediately called scheduling and within 2 hours Jim Richards arrived at our home to discuss the options. Upon evaluation it turns out that the AC was 15 years old and that the furnace was 10 years old, and that there were many flaws in the way the system had been installed. Jim's approach to selling was absolutely fantastic, with zero pressure to buy, but rather he offered us multiple options to choose from based on our needs and budget. We chose the Trane xv20i AC and and XC80 gas furnace and we couldn't be happier. While this system was a premium price, we are also getting premium results and efficiency, and to boot the AC is whisper quiet which makes sitting on the back porch enjoyable again. Horne did a an excellent job from start to finish and we would highly recommend them.

Mr. Horne came and did an inspection to see why we are losing heat and cooled air. He checked windows, ducts and A/C system. We discussed solutions and rated them in order of effectiveness and price. He also gave suggestions like adding insulation to certain areas of the house. I did get the insulation but did not do any of the other suggestions because the system is not completely broken yet, just struggling. He did not charge for the inspection so I have to say "A" The quote he gave to remedy the situation was reasonable.

They called me and told me that they didn't service Salisbury, even though they said that they service the county in the ad. I had to call Angie's List and get a refund. The price sounded like a good deal for a check up though.
