Description of Work: I called their service and requested AC installation information. They were very good in sending someone out to look over the job. Estimator was on time, completed his measurements and left saying that he would e mail us with the estimate and all other information. That was on a Friday so we were expecting the estimate on the following Monday. Monday came and no estimat so my wife called their office and was told the estimator was in a meeting and he would call shortly. Now this was after 1PM. We assumed we would hear from him in the morning. We didn't hear from them so I called again around 3PM and was told he was stillin the meeting and would call soon. Well here it is Tuesday and still haven't heard from them. Needless to say we are very disappointed in this company that is on Angie's list and am wondering if we can trust the list in the future. Don't understand what went wrong but we have moved on to a more reliable company. Very discouraging.

Thanks for your feedback on Angie's List. Our company is disappointed with the overall grade and would like to address some of the concerns mentioned in your report. Our consultant arrived at the home for the scheduled appointment Friday afternoon only to find another contractor on-site performing a similar estimate. We completed our standard load calculation, home measurement and comfort checklist during the visit, and did confirm the proposal would be e-mailed as requested. Our consultant did send the information as requested the following week, and it appears the proposal was not delivered to your e-mail inbox. Our consultant resent the information only to find the project had been awarded to another service provider. Our team was ready and willing to assist with the replacement of HVAC equipment however, the circumstances and timing around the appointment gave the consultant the impression this was not an immediate need. We will certainly use this scenario as an example for our team members, and look for opportunities of improvement. We are confident in Angie’s List and are proud having earned the Super Service Award since 1999. great experience, honest tech!
Description of Work: Horne Heating and Air came in for a second opinion on my a/c that stopped working (a/c,fan,heat). Was told by another company the day before that I needed a new circuit board, that water had damaged it and I was better off investing in a new unit and ductwork (ie $15,000 worth). After 30 minutes Horne not only fixed my unit (just a bad wire!!!!!) and was only $230 including the service trip chg. Needless to say they made my day!!!!

The problem was fixed.
Description of Work: On a Friday afternoon, I noticed water dripping from a pipe extending from the side of my home. The condensation pan from the A/C was clogged. I was very fortunate that I called Horne, and they were able to work me into their last service call of the day. "Mike" came, and I told him what the problem was. He, of course, started to press h****** selling me a Service Agreement. I declined and he unclogged the drain and vacuumed the water out of the resevoir pan. Here maybe an hour. The charge was 90.00 standard service charge and the rest for unclogging the drain. I feel for what he did 180.00 + 90.00 service charge was very pricey. No parts, anything....... Anyway, they were able to come on short notice. I called Jeff Horne to say I felt that almost 300.00 was too high for what was done. He did not offer to adjust anything...so, it is what it is. To add insult to injury, I was telling someone about it and they had the same problem that their A/C company charged 150.00 for.

Very good service, which costs.
Description of Work: During the hot summer I called to get more freon put in mt AC unit and they offered to come the same day, but the next day was better for me. The technician arrived promptly and added more freon to the system. It was pricey but the technician did not try to sell me things that I did not need like other companies I have dealt with in the past, which I appreciated.

Very Good.
Description of Work: Performed HVAC tune up. Had to replace heat exchange. Technician showed me the problem - it had some holes due to rust and was leaking carbon monoxide (system was still under warranty, only labor charged). Also leveled the HVAC unit as it had sunk down a little due to the ground settling under the hard stand. Technician also put flashing around the HVAC unit's end that rests next to the house. It had moved away from the side house wall due to the settling and was allowing water to get in between the HVAC and house. Technician installed a new programmable thermostat that I had bought without charging.

Description of Work: My wife and I started using Horne because of their Angie's List rating. We had used them for about two years, but something has changed with this company. We had them out to perform a complete service in August (AC and Heat) and thought we would be ready to go as the weather cooled. When the time came in October, the burner would not fire. We called for a service appointment and they offered to come that morning, but a work appointment prohibited me from being home that morning. It then took more than a week to get someone out. The service tech was very professional and corrected the problem. He said that during the previous service, rust had been knocked loose and not removed from the burner, preventing the gas from igniting. We were told since it was their fault, we would not be charged. We were given no paperwork and were not asked to sign anything showing the service tech had been out. Needless to say, we were very pleased. But then, in mid November we received a bill for $90.00 for the service call. Thinking it was a mistake, I called Horne. The accountant was not in, so I left a message. I never received a call back. So, I followed up with another call and spoke to Don. I have seldom spoken with a person in customer service that was this rude. He insisted that no complete service was previously performed (we sure paid for something) and insisted that we owed the $90.00 service call (which I have paid). I politely explained that I was disappointed, that I would note use them again, and that I would rate them on Angie's List. He blew off like a rocket. He told me that "I get threats all the time..." After hearing his rant, I believe it. I did not threaten him in any way, but do not want others to have this type of experience. This is the first time an Angie's List company has disappointed me. 2011-01-16 (UPDATED) Just happened to look back and saw the service providers report for the first time. It has been a long time since I have read such splendid fiction, this service provider should have been a writer, apparently it would have been a better choice - he appears good at it. The positive in our families bad experience with this provider is that we found a great Christian service provider in Arctic Air.

AUGUST 8, 2008, WE WENT OUT FOR AN A/C TUNE UP, ONE TIME ONLY. ON OCTOBER 13, 2008 MR. GRIGGS CALLS WITH A NO HEAT PROBLEM, BRANDON GOES OUT AND FINDS THE BURNERS STOPPED UP, AND DIRTY, MR. TELLS BRANDON THAT WE JUST PERFORMED TUNE UP ON SYSTEM. BRANDON DOES NOT CALL OFFICE TO VERIFY THAT IT WAS AN A/C TUNE UP INSTEAD HE TELLS MR. THAT THE BURNERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED DURING TUNE, AND DOES NOT CHARGE FOR THE CLEANING OF THE BURNERS, JUST THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE NEXT DAY OCTOBER 14TH, MR. CALLS AND TALKS TO ME ABOUT THE $90 DIAGNOSTIC, I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD CHECK WITH THE TECHNICIAN THAT WAS OUT THERE, FIND OUT WHAT SERVICES HE PERFORMED, AND WOULD CALL HIM BACK. HE WAS NOT HAPPY, SAID HE COULD TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED, AND THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CALL THE PERSON WHO WAS AT HIS HOME. I REASSURED HIM THAT I WOULD CALL HIM BACK. I CALLED MR. BACK AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT AFTER TALKING TO BRANDON THE TECHNICIAN THAT WAS OUT AT HIS LOCATION HE WAS NOT AWARE THAT WE PERFORMED AN A/C TUNE UP TWO MONTHS AGO, AND NOT AN HEAT TUNE UP. I EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENCE TO MR. AT THAT TIME, HE WAS NOT HAVING IT, HE TOLD ME THAT HE SURE PAID FOR SOMETHING, AND HE FELT AS THOUGH WE WERE JUST RIPPING HIM OFF. I EXPLAINED IN DETAIL WHAT THE DIFFERENCE WAS BETWEEN THE TWO SERVICES. I THEN EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR CLEANING THE BURNERS AS WELL AS THE DIAGNOSTIC, HE THEN TOLD ME THAT HE WAS NOT PAYING A DIME, AND HUNG UP. ON OCTOBER 20TH, 2008 MR. CALLS ME BACK AGAIN TO TELL ME THAT HE WAS NOT PAYING THE $90, I THEN AGAIN WENT OVER WHAT HAD TRANSPIRED AT HIS LOCATION, HE TOLD ME THAT WE AS A COMPANY SHOULD STAND GOOD TO WHAT OUR GUYS OUT WORKING ARE TELLING THE CUSTOMERS. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT UNLESS THE TECHNICIAN CALLS INTO THE OFFICE TO VERIFY WHAT SERVICES WERE PERFORMED THEY HAVE NO WAY IN KNOWING, AND THAT I WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS, FOR MAKING IT A BIG DEAL THAT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT PERFORM THE TUNE UP PROPERLY, WHEN IN FACT WE PERFORMED AN A/C TUNE UP IN AUGUST, AND HE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON. I THEN AGAIN EXPLAINED WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED, BUT THAT I WOULD NOT ASK HIM TO PAY FOR THE CLEANING, JUST THE $90 FOR BRANDON COMING TO HIS LOCATION. HE THEN TELLS ME THAT WE ARE RIP OFF ARTIST AND HANGS UP. SEVERAL DAYS LATER HE CALLS BACK TO TELL ME THAT HE HAD SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER COMPANIES, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE CHARGED HIM A DIME, AND THAT THEY STAND BEHIND THE PROMISE, AND THERE GUYS IN THE FIELD. I THEN AGAIN EXPLAINED WHAT WE PERFORMED AT HIS HOME, I EVEN ASKED HIM TO GET HIS INVOICE FROM AUGUST, AND I WOULD LOOK AT IT WITH HIM. I EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENCE USING THE INVOICE AS A GUIDE WHAT AND WHERE INFORMATION IS WRITTEN BY THE TECHNICIANS AND THAT SHOULD HELP HIM UNDERSTAND, HE TELLS ME THAT I AM JUST TRYING TO GET MONEY OUT OF HIM, WHEN WE WERE THE ONES WHO MADE THE MISTAKE, AND THAT HE WAS NOT PAYING, AND THEN HUNG UP. NOVEMBER 5TH, I GET ANOTHER CALL FROM HIM, THIS IS WHEN MR. THREATENS ME WITH THE BBB AND ANGIE'S LIST, AND THEN AT FIRST POLITELY TELL HIM THAT I HAVE EXPLAINED TO HIM SEVERAL TIMES WHAT ALL HAPPENED IN AUGUST AND IN OCTOBER, HE THEN TELLS ME THAT HE WOULD CALL ANYONE AND EVERYONE, AND THEN PROMISED ME THAT HE WOULD CAUSE A PROBLEM FOR HORNE HEATING AND AIR'S BUSINESS. THEN HE STATES TO ME THAT WHEN HE WAS FINISHED HORNE WOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. THIS IS WHEN I WAS NOT NICE, I TOLD HIM THAT WHEN I DO GET CALLS LIKE HIS, AND WITH AS MANY TIMES AS HE HAS CALLED IT IS SOMEONE THAT KNOWS THEY ARE WRONG AND JUST DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT, I TOLD HIM THAT THE $90 WAS DUE, AND THAT IF HE DID NOT PAY, I WOULD SEE TO IT THAT HE WENT TO THE TOP OF OUR LIST FOR COLLECTIONS, AND I WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL WE RECEIVED THE $90. I THEN TOLD HIM THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO DISCUSS, EXPLAIN, OR TALK TO HIM ABOUT THIS MATTER AGAIN, THEN I HUNG UP. HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM SINCE, UNTIL THE ANGIE'S LIST REPORT.

Description of Work: Last October 2007 Horne replaced our gas furnace and AC under the house (we have 2 units). This year, 2008, our AC went out in the attic. It turned out that the AC is driven by the fan motor in the gas furnace. Therefore, we had to replace the gas furnace. Well, we could have fixed it, but with all that needed fixing, and the fact that the system was 14 years old, we chose to relace. Horne was excellent!! In every way! You couldn't ask for a more professional, nice and knowledgeable group of guys. The office staff is great too P.S. We bought a Trane, and it wasn't much more than any other brand. I was surprised.

Description of Work: I was getting an estimate for repairing or replacing an ac unit. I had used them in the past for maintenance on my furnace and AC. Their pricing was at least $500 higher than the other 4 companies I contacted through Angie's List.($6500.)
