New units were computerized and able to sense when to send warm or cool air to an area of the home. For the first time in six years I was able to be comfortable downstairs in all seasons and my daughter was also able to be comfortable upstairs. I never |knew that this type of system was available. I don't regret spending the money. The system that came with our home was horrible!

When the installers encountered a problem they requested assistance from more experienced techs and waited for them to complete installation before leaving. I would definite use them again and recommend them

Description of Work: The first technician came in on Friday afternoon to do a bi-annual check up of the air condition unit. He is supposed to do tune up and cleaning so that the unit will perform optimally. The Trane unit was about 7 years old. The unit was also not able to cool down the home below 78 degree. After about an hour of checking, the technician informed me that the compressor was too hot and he couldn't continue to work on the unit. The unit had to cool off overnight before they can work on it again. The next technician came in the next day as scheduled. Based on his expert judgement, the unit needed a new expansion valve because the valve "was probably not installed probably and it took about 6 or 7 years for the valve to bend and eventually not function well". In the meantime, he suggested that a new coil should be ordered (without inspection) in order to "save money" on the labor. He quote $1,500 to complete the job on replacing the expansion valve. Again, there was no concrete evidence that the valve was the cause of the unit not cooling. |I hired a second company to evaluate the air condition unit for a second opinion. They did some test on the expansion valve and found nothing wrong. After some thorough cleaning of the unit on the roof, the air condition unit was working fine and the home temperature cool down to 74 degree with ease. No part was replaced or fixed. Only good thorough cleaning. |I informed Horne of my bad experience with their technicians. I requested a refund of the bi-annual contract because they failed to do the job and gave me inaccurate diagonisi and high estimates for the "fixes". If I had gone through with their original recommendation without checking, I would have spent $1,500 for an unnecessary repair.

Description of Work: I called about a loss of air. The original tech showed and started checking freon pressures and through his testing loss the freon in my system. When he finally called a senior tech, he finally checked and determined that I lost my fan motor. Another tech showed with the replacement fan and I was told at that time that it was not covered under warranty. System was under 18 month old, with a 10 year parts warranty. This comment was again verified by the owner. I asked again and was then told they would cover the warranty. I was very disappointed with the first tech's professional manner, being a facilities director with knowledge of HVAC, but was very impressed with the senior techs that had to correct the mistakes of the first. These senior techs were some of the best I have come across and the owner backed warranty. Was a shame, my wife and I had to go through the first technicians lack of knowledge and technical skills.

Description of Work: They did the semi annual review of our HVAC unit. Quick to schedule and the technician called ahead to confirm that he was in route. No issues, the did a great job of cleaning and inspecting.

Description of Work: Horne did an annual HVAC tune-up on both of our heat pump systems. Both were Big Deals. Horne's technician showed up on time and got right to work. He did the work efficiently, and was very professional. He correctly reported a problem (corroded coil) with our main heat pump, and recommended the system be replaced. Since we had a home warranty in place, however, we opted to have the system repaired under the home warranty. Overall, we were very pleased with Horne and would use them again.
