+ -1 moreThey put part of them in in 2005 and the other part last year. The guy that did the order, ordered the wrong flooring. They corrected it immediately and fixed everything. I would give them an “A” for service, the fact that he messed up the first time and cost us another week to get the stuff here. The second time, I had no problem. They were here when they said they would be.
Description of Work: I had Home Depot put in new hardwood floors.

+ 0 moreThe materials took longer to arrive than expected. When we went to pick them up at the store, they forgot to give us everything and we had to go back to pick up additional pieces. While most of the floor looks great, one corner was peeling up just one day later. When I called and emailed to complain, my voicemail messages and emails were never returned.
Description of Work: We had vinyl flooring installed in a laundry room.

+ -1 moreMy dining room table leg had come loose and I finally had to remove it completely from the top of the table to fix it. The long wooden screw was stripped inside the leg, so it was impossible for me to tighten. I asked Christian at the Hardware counter for advice and he spent almost 40 minutes fixing if FOR me. Wow! All I had to do was attach the leg to the base when I got home and it was perfect. Talk about going above and beyond!
Description of Work: Christian (in Hardware) helped me fix the leg of a 60 year old table.

+ 0 moreIt went very well. We had a slight problem but they came back the next day and corrected it. They were here early and they pretty much spent the day. Since they were working in the kitchen, there wasn't much we could do while they were working in the kitchen. I think they did a good job and I was more than satisfied. I would think they are averagely competitive.
Description of Work: We used Home Depot for cabinet refinishing. We had them refaced because the cabinets were structurally sound. We had a cabinet removed in addition to refacing and the removal process was a little more difficult but they corrected the issues that were existing as a result of removing that cabinet.

+ -1 moreSomeone came out to the house to give me an estimate. They were not just trying to sell me windows. He wanted to make sure what I picked was what I needed. They are perfect, and I did not have to spend a lot of money. Someone came out to install the windows. They did a great job and gave me some tips. After the install, someone called to make sure everything went well. This was good service.

+ -1 moreI'm still dealing with cracked wood, even the Home Depot contractors told me they don't like using it. I had to pull it up myself because they charge too much. I ended up having to get the district manager involved, and had to spend thousands to get my flooring taken care of. This issue showed me that the management was bad, and the flooring was bad. I've used them for roofing, building, etc. I had never had a problem with management until this point. I would not recommend Home Depots prefinished flooring.

+ -1 moreThere are normally people at Home Depot who will be helpful. It was good. We had it in our mind already what we wanted. We got hardwood pieces to lay ourselves. It was a good price and good quality. We were able to use nearly 100% of the wood. My boys and husband put it in and there was hardly any waste. My boys used to work at Home Depot two years ago and they had learned a lot. I don't think they had learned hardwood floors but working at Home Depot will teach you a lot. They wanted the house to look good so they did a good job! Home Depot were knowledgeable and helpful.

+ -1 moreIt actually still amazes me when you walk in the door and say I'm hunting for so and so that they won't just tell you, "Aisle six half way down on the right," they take you there. Even if you don't want them to they still take you there. I'm sure it's in their personal training, but they don't ever just send you off to find whatever it is you're hunting. Somebody, in my experience, has actually taken me into the aisle and showed me on the shelf where the stuff was. It's pretty decent customer service. I think Home Depot generally has more people wondering around asking for help than Lowe's does and that's the impression that I have.

+ 0 moreThey were good. We bought tile that was in stock and there were no special prices or anything like that, we just bought it off the floor. We later bought a lot of roofing material because we had a couple of roofs done and we did get very good prices on that. I think that they were helpful because my husband usually goes for most of the purchasing. He has good relations with them. The price was good and they were courteous and helpful. We did have some shingles that needed to be returned that were damaged and they took care of that and we did not have any problem with them.
Description of Work: We purchased tile from Home Depot and also some roofing material later on.

+ -1 moreThey measured the house and gave us the estimate. They described different kinds of qualities for the carpets; especially the quality of padding underneath seemed to be good. The final cost was exactly the same amount that they had quoted. They did a good job and the installation was very good. They treated us well. They had the subcontractors who came and installed the carpets. I had 2 reasons to get the work done by Home Depot; I was able to trust their subcontractors and if any thing happened I knew I could go to Home Depot. It's been a couple of years that the work has been done, but we don't have any problems with their work. I would recommend them to others.

+ -1 moreThe installation was OK, but the follow up for baseboard damage was not good. Their response was slow, and then they told me to get someone else to take care of it and send them the bill. I didn't care for that. I ended up doing it myself, and billing them for my time. Next time, I would make sure I understood the follow up for damages before hand.

+ -1 moreAs I stated above, their KD was excellent. But, then we got this OUTRAGEOUS estimate and thought it was a mistake. NO mistake. They wanted $3,000 to cut drywall. Over $600 to install a circuit for the fridge and then the icing on the cake: $2,600 handling and coordination charge. 3 thousand dollars to make a couple of phone calls. Unethical - Absolutely, Immoral - Absolutely, Illegal? - You tell me.
Description of Work: New cabinets, some electrical and plumbing work done. Received excellent service from the Kitchen Designer, Kevin. Then we had their contractor, Ernie.. come to the house to give us an estimate on the following: Cut a wall to recess fridge: $2,990. (we cutting the wall ourselves) Prewire and install 6-7 canlights & 2 Pendants: $4,290. (estimate from the elect. we chose to use: $775.) Move a light switch and phone line: $598. (new elect: $200.)Run new circuit for Fridge: 665. (New elect. 75.)The plumbing estimates are as follows: Install new sink, DW, stove and fridge: $1,170.Move gasline: 1,235. Run new waterline for fridge: 2,392. Total: $4,797. Estimate from plumber we chose: $1,305. HD also added this little charge: $2,680.60 = "Handling charge - coordination" They also wanted $455 to fill in under cabinets. HD charges: $16,475. Our Electrician and Plumber: $3,155. These are not typos.
