It was a nightmare. I thought I was being filmed for "punked" and told them it was the only rational explanation for all the mistakes. They broke the first granite countertop during installation and it took almost 5 weeks before we got a suitable one installed. As the old countertops had been removed, my autistic son was unable to use his bathroom the entire time (very distressing for him). During that time period, another top was dropped, they tried to install one with the wrong pattern, they lost my sink, their equipment broke causing them to reschedule appointments, they ran out of my pattern forcing us to start over and go pick out new slabs, left out pieces of the top on their plans and they tried to convince me I had okayed a slab that I hadn't and later admitted it didn't happen. During this entire time, Home Depot told me we were entitled to compensation for the "unacceptable" installation problems and would discuss it after the installation was complete. Once, it was completed, they said we were not entitled to anything because they had completed the job. I have received NO response from Customer Service about my complaints. Buyer Beware. I'll spend my money at Lowes.

We stopped by the reface cabinets display at our Apex, NC Home Depot and met Jeffery, who set up an appointment to get an estimate. There was a 10% saving going on, so we agreed. Fellow (whose name I've forgotten) measured and provided a firm quote. A date was set for the work, and Harry and Jerry arrived 10-15 minutes early that morning (and every morning) and got stated. Harry and Jerry are the happiest, friendliest and hardest working men I have ever met. They worked 10 hours the first day, 7 hours the second day, and were done after 2 hours the 3rd day. The quality of the work is first rate, and the end result is beautiful. Only issues we had were a damaged door, two forgotten door knobs, one misaligned door and one drawer that does not close as easily as it should. Harry came back after I contacted coordinator Russell (which was not all that easy to do and took 3 days), and replaced the damaged door and added the two missing knobs. He improved the misaligned door, but did not correct the drawer that did not close easily, giving me some nonsense about the draw having heavy items in it (while others with even heavier items close just fine). Overall, we are happy with the results, though I thought the price was pretty high even with a discount, and I'll always remember the nonsensical story I got every time I close that drawer which still isn't quite right.

They were very prompt, professional and did an excellent job well within my expectations as to speed and efficiency.
Description of Work: Came and estimated a job to replace old windows with new energy efficient ones. The price was reasonable as they gave me 2 years same as cash. The job was done quickly and with professionalism. The GC was constantly in touch and even when the project was done, he helped me with a billing issue.

The quality of the windows is excellent but the process and the quality of installation and follow up has been extremely poor. Salesman came out and presented information on the types of windows and explained the installation process. We chose windows and paid a deposit. Salesman explained final payment was due when we were 100% satisfied with the job. He stated crew would probable come from Jacksonville to our house in Morehead City and it should take 2 days to install. Installers arrived 2 hours late and stayed until 10PM. They came from Wilmington. They installed 1 window crooked, left about 20 nail heads sticking out of the exterior trim of each window, left black hand marks on window casings and walls, did not caulk 5 of the windows interior and several on the exterior, left holes in the trim of 4 double windows inside and out, put a hole in my screen porch door, and left trash in the yard. I pointed out the crooked window to installer and he shrugged his shoulders, said he would have to take it out and rehang in....and then left. Job inspector came the next day and said they would fix all the problems and asked for payment to close the job so he could get repairmen here faster. It has taken 3 1/2 months to get the repairman here 4 times. He did fix most of the problems, but he patched over the holes and gaps in the double windows with caulk, pieces of vinyl and aluminum trim. It turns out the double windows should have been single windows inserted into the existing frame - the salesman should not have sold them as a double unit, and the installer and job foreman should not have installed them like this. I had to spend a whole day washing windows, window trim and walls and another day placing trim across the interior top and bottom of the double windows to cover the gaps/holes. The final result is that the interior looks fine and most of the exterior is OK. The exterior of the 4 double windows have a chunk of vinyl installed at the center top and aluminum wrapped over the sills. My main concern is the integrity of the double windows, will the centers eventually leak where they were patched? I now have to check the caulking here once a year - on my new maintenance free windows! Home Depot may provide quality installation service in the rest of the country but certainly not in eastern NC.

I waited a week and half for the initial measurement date. The guy that measured was going to call between 8-9am to let us know what time he would be there. He had a specific number to call and all information was accurate when the appointment was made in store. When the home office gave the guy the information, they gave old information which was in the computer from 5 years ago (I don't live or work there anymore). So needless to say, no call between 8-9am. I called at 11am to question and the person said they didn't know what happened but the guy would be at the house between 12-2pm. I was at work and it took me til 12:15 to rush home for the appointment. There was a note on the door saying I missed it. I rescheduled and fixed the wrong information. The next week the guy said he'd be there between 4-6pm. He called at 4pm saying he would be late. He arrived at 8pm. I am not buying my carpet from Home Depot.
Description of Work: The measurements for whole-house carpet was done from Home Depot.

I think if Home Depot would stock more custom door choices it would have been alot easier trying to make a decision. Picking out a door from a catalog isn't the same as looking at one in person. Overall though it was a fairly easy process. We made sure we paid for a custom install as this was not your typical install. We already had a transom and sidelights that we wanted to keep, so basically we just needed the door to mount to the old hinge and lockset locations. The areas that would not accept the new hinges were filled in a new area cut to accept the new door. Same with the lockset. I ended up touching up the work afterwards but was warned ahead of time...no big deal as the door it'self was the biggest worry taken care of by the experts. As mentioned earlier the fit and finish was way off but after one call they were back on the job and now it fits perfectly. If I had to do it again, would I change anything...not really.
Description of Work: We wanted a special entry door for our house and we knew it wasn't going to be cheap. We looked at the stock doors that Home Depot had displayed in the store but wasn't satisified with what they had so we ordered from a catalog of companies that they deal with. Our door was fantastic!! In the box and on the house. Home Depot installed it as I was afraid to do this job myself. I could never forgive myself if I had made an error in cutting. The initial install went well but we noted that the door did not fit properly in the frame. We called back and they were right on it. The second time around they made it perfect. I can honestly say we have the best looking door on the block.

Had contacted a local company to get this work done. They made appointments but canceled one and was a no show for another. Had Home Depot come by for an estimate. They did a great job of explaining the work and making some other energy saving suggestions. I went ahead and hired them. An inspector came out and ensured my estimate was correct and made sure I knew what was involved. I scheduled an install date. Workers showed up on time. They laid plastic sheeting down from entrance to attic hatch. The workers were fast and efficient. Work was done as expected and the workers made sure every little bit of trash and insulation bits were removed from the house. Quality of work is excellent. Very professional. I will turn to Home Depot Home Services for additional work in the future.
Description of Work: Additional R19 worth of insulation blown in. Radiant barrier installed. Attic hatch insulation seal installed.

SALES PERSON SAID ALL PERSONS WORKING ON THE ROOF WERE HOME DEPOT EMPLOYEES. (THEY ARE ACTUALY ALL SUBCONTRACTED) SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE ILLEGAL ALIENS BECAUSE HOME DEPOT HAS PROOF THAT THEY ARE ALL US CITIZENS. THE JOB FOREMAN SAID THAT 4 OUT OF THE 5 WERE ILLEGAL. THE SALES PERSON SAID ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO GET THE JOB, AS WE WERE COMPARING PRICES TO LOWES. (SHOULD HAVE CHOSEN LOWES) VERY LITTLE WAS TRUTH! THE CREW THAT DID THE WORK SMASHED THE ''RIP'' OR THE CROWN OF THE ROOF IN BEFORE THEY LEFT. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW THAT THEY HAD DESTROYED THIS PART OF THE ROOF. THEY FINALLY CAME BACK AFTER NUMEROUS CALLS TO TEAR THE TOP OF THE ROOF OFF AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE ''RIP'' MOST ALL COMMUNICATION WAS INITIATED BY BUYER. I WENT TO BOTH LOWES AND HOME DEPOT BECAUSE I WANTED A SOLID GUARANTEE. LOWE'S DID SOME MAJOR WORK FOR ME IN THE PAST AND SCREWED UP OVER $4000 OF COUNTER TOP. THEY BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE IT RIGHT! I WOULD NEVER USE HOME DEPOT AGAIN.
Description of Work: REMOVED EXISITHING SHINGLES AND REPLACED WITH TOP QUALITY SHINGLES.
