While my wife was not impressed with the work at the time or the professionalism of the provider, I have to say that the work speaks for itself. The caulking has held up and we have no leaks. I see this as a good deal.

My experience with them went pretty well. I had to call them back out for something and they did come back out to take care of what they needed to be done.
Description of Work: I used Eager Beaver Handyman Service for handyman service. I last used them to assemble a television stand, to check the garbage disposal, install a shower head and to check as well as open a clog drain. They also checked the garage door which they were not able to fix and as such referred me to someone else.
We are an older couple and are preparing our house to sell. The chores we needed done are things we used to be able to do for ourselves but now can't. We were surprised and grateful that there is a company which will undertake such tasks. The men who came to our house were quiet, respectful, careful, neat, pleasant, and kind. They worked hard and kept to the tasks they were assigned. They did a good job with what we asked them to do. Although we had a lot of the tools and equipment they needed, they also brought tools with them. They cleaned up after the work and put our things back in our basement. They told us when they were going to lunch, what they were going to do before they did it, and asked questions when they needed something. It was a pleasure having the workers from Eager Beaver Handyman Service on our property and in our house. We will have them back several more days before our house is ready and we look forward to the help they are providing us.
Description of Work: General, miscellaneous chores. On August 19 and August 24, 2 men came each day and worked for 7 hours, each. Work done on 8/19 included removing drapery fixtures and spackling holes in woodwork, repairing loose wallpaper seam edges, removed a handheld shower head from the shower pipe, tightened a slipping doorknob, gluing back a cabinet knob, caulking floor around toilet and lavatory bases, vacuuming dust and cobwebs from the attic, helping go through an overcrowded basement to find and bag trash, items to donate, items to recycle, and stacking boxes to make more space. On 8/24, the men washed 32 small flower pots, removed and cleaned 2 bird feeder stations, moved edgers from around bird feeder stations to other shrub beds and put the mulch on shrub beds; prepared and spray painted 2 metal outdoor chairs and a small table, took down a curtain rod from the front porch, washed several wheeled flower pot saucers, removed a canopy frame and cloth canopy from a glider, helped load some very heavy items from the basement into our Van.
Shane and Nate were fantastic. They arrived about 5 minutes early and put in a full day's work. They kept me appraised of their progress, they purchased the materials needed and brought receipts - even returned unused items for my credit, and their workmanship was great. They are polite, thoughtful and courteous. I'll be keeping this number on speed dial!
Description of Work: Furniture assembly, closet organization design and install, switch out of fan and light kit, mailbox repair, and minor repairs.

When we 1st had our issue I needed a quick fix. After reading several positive reviews about Eager Beaver Handyman Services, I decided to call. We had a security door that was giving us some problems. When I called Shane, he was very responsive, very attentive and came right over. My original plan was to have Shane fix this door, pay him and probably never see him again. After meeting him and seeing his work, he is now our new maintenance man. From small issues to major repairs Shane and his helpers can do it all! They are very thorough and trustworthy. They are usually available the same day and if they can?t fix the problem, they will help find someone that can. I am so grateful to have finally found someone I can trust and that isn?t going to overcharge me for everything. If you are looking for a handyman that you can rely on, Eager Beaver Handyman Services is the way to go!!!!!
They were professional, efficient - and I was very pleased - would use again. I used a discount that was offered on services at that time - so everything worked out well.
Description of Work: Hung mirror, lighting fixture and shelves
It went pretty well except for the upstairs bedroom wall repair. The second handy man partner that did the estimate and took pictures of the job didn't communicate to the first partner (two man crew). As a result the first man patched all of the holes and wall board damages instead of the specific area we requested. They had to sand and paint over all the patches instead of just 6. Otherwise they did a fine job. They were cordial and easy to work with.

GREAT job!!! Called them just this morning after reading reviews on Angies List. Our movers only put together about 1/3 of our trampoline because they could not find all of the parts during our move. Shane had one of his guys come to our home about 5 hours after I contacted him - very courteous, honest, and hardworking man. He put the trampoline together perfectly, and could not have been nicer. Would HIGHLY recommend this company. They saved the day, my kids have been jumping on the trampoline for hours! Thank you Shane!

I actually saved the client money by not bringing a two man crew for such an easy job. I broke a small foam piece off the edge of the mirror and immediately took responsibility for it. I had just ran out of super glue and found it acceptable to ask the client for some. I ran to Lowe's and reattached the piece and it was impossible to tell it was ever broken. I used a specialty ladder to hang the pictures on the high wall and they expressed nothing but thanks for my efforts and results. I was on time, worked quickly and saved them money in the end. I

Shane and his crew were all a pleasure to work with, but I don't know if I would call them again based on the incident that occurred with the repair and the quality of the final product. I think they need to better coordinate their schedules and communication. I think Shane is very professional and did his best to fix a situation gone wrong, but ultimately I think a lack of knowledge or experience may be to blame for some of the issues with the final product. Below are the details. We purchased a Big Deal for 2hrs of Handyman work but had additional work that we needed an estimate on. Shane came out to the home at the scheduled time, took a look at the jobs and said he would e-mail me an estimate / available start times by the following day. I had to follow-up with him 2 days later to obtain the estimate. He mentioned that he was getting a lot of work due to the Big Deal and wasn't sure what his scheduling would look like. I was away for several weeks, so it worked out fine. He arrived on time on May 28th, 2013 to begin work. He removed the damaged drywall and completed the drywall patch. Work was going smoothly. While the drywall repair was curing, he began to screw on a splash guard to our shower door. This is when calamity ensued. While he was screwing the second screw in, it hit the glass for the door and cracked the entire door. He then began to remove the door frame so he could take care of replacing the glass and cracked the shower surround. He immediately took responsibility for the damage and said he would work with me to repair the shower. He did not charge me for the hour that he was cleaning up the shower door. He took lunch and when he returned said he was a bit overwhelmed by the damage that occurred and wanted to wait to begin work on the front and back doors. I agreed to delay this work, but repeatedly informed him we were in the process of moving and needed the work completed prior to the move and prior to putting the house on the rental market. Unfortunately, he had a vacation already scheduled for the following week, so he told me he would send out another guy to take a look at the shower and assess the fix. Celestino came out to the house the following week and looked at the shower and explained that he could get a company out there to fill the crack in the shower wall and re-finish it and replace the glass in the door. He did not do any work on the front or back door frames. They were able to schedule the work to repair the surround for the following week and to have the glass guy come out and measure. The sub-contracted company for the shower repair did a great job matching the color of my surround, but the glossy finish did not match the matte finish of the surround so it is obvious where a repair was done. I communicated with Shane several times by e-mail and he was responsive to the e-mails, but not responsive about getting someone out to the house to finish the work on the front and back doors. We were moving about 35 mins away as of June 23rd and were not able to get the work scheduled to work on the front and back doors until the 24th, which was an inconvenience, but ultimately due to issues with the move worked out fine. Celestino was the one that returned on the 24th and struggled with repairing the damaged frame. He tried several solutions and made several trips to Lowe's and spent much longer than expected trying to make the repair on the front door. At one point, he took a break to finish the repair of the drywall and that came out very nice. However, he did not install the splash guard. Between the lack of the splash guard and the door being re-attached slightly higher than it was previously, the first shower resulted in a flood on the bathroom floor. Celestino had to come back the following day to finish work on the front and back doors. He struggled with hanging the door after making the repair to the frame and ultimately stuck weather stripping to the front of the door (white on green) - this was unslightly! Celestino also did not have the appropriate tools to sand all of the places where he used wood filler (only had sandpaper), so it looked like an amateaur job at best. However, the metal frames were removed and the frame was repaired, so we were happy about that. The glass finally arrived later that week (if you are keeping track, we were without this shower for nearly a month) and I was pleasantly surprised that Shane stopped by on the day of the glass install. The glass install went smoothly (thank goodness) and I told Shane I was not happy with the work that Celestino did (as far as the finishing / painting). Upon seeing it, he immediately removed the unslightly piece of weather stripping and said that he could come out and use a power sander to clean up the outside edges of the frame. He agreed that it was not "complete". He commented that Celestino's strengths are not with doors, and that he didn't have the right tools to do the work completely. I was frustrated that Shane would send someone out to a job knowing this was not his strength and that he didn't have the right tools. Shane also took a look at the bathroom and said he would fix some cracked drywall along the repair, buff the finish on the shower and install the splash guard. He agreed to reduce the 18 hrs of "man" time to 10 hrs to account for Celestino's learning curve, challenges with the job, quality issues, and inconvenience. However, this is a reason to not pay by hour because with the right tools and skills, I don't believe this job would've cost me as much as it did. As for my final contacts with Shane....we explained that there was an open house on the property on July 13th and we needed the work on the front door / back door completed by then. The weather definitely caused some delays, but this work started on 5/28 and there were plenty of opportunities to not push us out as far as possible each time. He promised to get someone out before the 13th and sent another one of his workers, Nate, out to the house the morning of the 12th. Nate did a great job sanding and finishing the bottom front of the door and then thought he was done. He told me Shane just told him the bottom of the door needed sanding. I showed him the rest of the frame that had putty sticking out and roughly sanded on the front and back doors and he did the work willingly. He was also not informed about the work upstairs. He took a look at the missing splash guard and went to Lowe's to get the appropriate piece. He returned and said that he could not get the piece because it was only sold as part of the door. Shane had the piece originally as this was the piece that caused all of the damage to the shower in the first place. I don't know what happened to that piece. Nate glued on a piece of rubber to act as a splash guard in the shower and attached some clamps to hold it on. Nate told me he had finished in the bathroom and then he left. I was satisfied with the outside work and replied to an e-mail from Shane that we were "all set". I realized later that Nate did not buff the shower wall or repair the drywall in the bathroom. I think things would've gone more smoothly if Shane had come out himself to finish the job or given proper instructions to Nate when he came out. I was discouraged by the time it took to get the work done and know Shane was already in the hole for the repair work he had to do in the shower, so I did not want to have him, or another worker, come back out to do any additional work. I appreciate the fact that he was easy to reach via e-mail and he was very professional and took responsibility for the damage that occurred with the shower repair, but ultimately I don't think I would hire the company as my first choice for other jobs.
Description of Work: Removed a metal screen door frame on the back door and filled and painted the screw holes. Removed a metal screen door frame on the front door, repaired a broken door frame, and filled in separation cracks around the door / sash windows. Repaired an area of drywall in the masterbath and attached a splash guard.

As an owner of a rapidly growing business it is really hard to rely on my employees to do the job as good as I could. I trust my guys to do just about anything and their skill set always matches the job they are sent to do. I deeply regret breaking the glass on the shower door, and so far its my first accident. I took responsibility in writing outlining my plans to fix everything. I gave updates on a regular basis and managed to get each stage of repairs done within the time frames given by the client. I gave a huge discount and got the green light from my client to consider the work order completed. She also asked me to estimate several other needs around her property. There are lessons to be learned for me with this situation, and I will definitely put some time aside after each appointment to allow for contingencies. I feel that I provided a good finished product at a fair price which is my ultimate goal. It saddens me to hear that the client wouldn't hire me in the future. But I will continue to provide the best service humanly possible, assume responsibility for any mistakes and give good value for my clients dollar.
He called ahead and let me know he was done with a job early, so he could get to me early. He was here an hour before my appointment time. There was one small snafu, when the globe to the ceiling fan light fell and broke, but he left immediately and went to the hardware store and bought a replacement. He did not charge me for the extra time required to do this.

Shane initially put the fixture in place, he asked my husband and me if it looked straight from our position in the den. We live in a town home, and could see the lineup of the fixture from a side view. We said, "It wasn't" at first; then he was working on moving it, when I left for an appointment. After he finished moving the fixture, he asked his helper if it were straight. His helper was standing in the kitchen on a ladder at the end of the island (same end from which we saw the fixture). He told him it was straight. Shane's assistant filled the holes left from the previous fixture. My husband told Shane that we would take care of painting the ceiling. After Shane and his helper left, my husband and I were in the kitchen when we looked up at the light. It was very off center over the island. In fact, one of the lights went well past the end of the island. The fixture has three hanging lights. Since we cannot move the island, we called Shane to return to move it into the right position. He has called, and he misunderstood my return text message, because my auto spell changed appt to spots. So he came at the wrong time, and we were not here. I texted him again and he explained what happened. Due to his abundance of work, he said he couldn't get back to me until this Thursday (7/11). He also said that he would charge us $20.00 fro travel to return here.We felt that he should not charge us, since he did not hang it right the first time. I will let you know how this saga continues.

Cel showed up on time. He got on a ladder to see what kind of lights were needed in the kitchen ceiling. Shane over communicated prior to our appointment. He actually had a family emergency and had to reschedule. He gave us plenty of notice and when I didn't respond back in a couple of days to confirm a new appointment he sent me a reminder email. It is a breath of fresh air to see a contractor "eager" to work. Seems like it is impossible to find someone who wants to work these days. Shane arrived on time at 8am. He started working immediately and of course ran into issues. Turns out our ceiling fan repair was a bigger project than expected. The issue being in the 2nd story ceiling of our family room. He had to drive to Pineville to rent a 18 foot step ladder. He was professional and all items were repaired to perfection. He cleaned up everything and even charged us less than I expected after all of the unexpected issues he had. I would recommend him to everyone.

Eager Beaver did a good. I did not have a large amount of stuff in my garage. The only issue was that he had to rent a truck from Home Depot to haul the items as he only had a mini van. I was not charged for the Home Depot truck because I did not have a lot of stuff to haul for the price I paid for the service. That was very nice of him not to charge me. However, it would have been good to know ahead of time that I would be charged for the truck rental. Overall, he did a good job and I would consider hiring him again for small jobs.
