Eager Beaver Handyman Service

Shane (and Shane) literally just left my home and I could not be more pleased with their work. We had a laundry list of items from assembling furniture, to hanging shelves/pictures, to installing a dimmer and more. Two days before Christmas and he was able to do things in a few hours that would have taken us weeks to do. He was punctual (in fact he was early), checked in with me after every task to make sure it was what I asked for and even did a few extra things that I had not added to the list before hand. They moved very quuckly, but still took great care with everything they worked on. They also helped us troubleshoot a last minute electrical problem with our breaker. Also removed all the trash, boxes and debris for all the items they'd worked. Like Christmas Elves, they appeared, fixed eveything, and were gone in a flash - leaving things better than before they arrived! I will definitely be using Eager Beaver/Shawn again for any home fixes that come our way. And the final cost and time to completion were lower than the original estimate!

As always they were right on time. Electrician surveyed the situation, went for supplies, returned and immediately went to work. Trench for electrical quickly dug. Switches mounted and cable run. Filled up trench, checked his work, cleaned up and left. This is the third time in as many weeks that I have been lucky enough to have these guys do work for me. Always professionally done. This company has been a real gem for me.

Jay arrived first. He found the studs behind the plaster walls over the fireplace. He then went into the attic to address the wiring nightmare there. He installed junction boxes for the various items that didn't have them, namely the bathroom fan and a light in the kitchen area. Then Shane arrived and promptly hung the mount and TV. Jay also provided the electrical for the TV behind the fireplace. This is the second(and not the last) time I have used Eager Beaver. It is such a relief to find a company that you can depend on to do beautiful work, keep you informed as to when they are coming, and charge fairly. Now I know that when something comes up, I have someone in the wings who can do the job and I know it will be done correctly, professionally, and at a fair price. Thank you Shane and Jay.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal. EB was very flexible regarding service times. The workman mounted the TV and connected it through a hole in the wall behind the TV so that cords do not show. I had to pay extra for this, but that was specified in the Big Deal terms, so I was prepared to pay more. The workman had to leave for a while to get some things he needed from Home Depot, which made the process longer, but overall, he was very efficient and put everything back where it belonged. I would use this company again.

The first two gentlemen arrived to remove a window and sheet rock the resulting hole. Quickly set to work. Removed the window, framed it in, installed sheet rock, and applied tape and mud. Cleaned up and left. Both men were very cordial, and great workers. Then the electrician arrived. He surveyed the area, asked me pertinent questions before he actually did anything. He really helped me in deciding were things normally went. Because of the age of the house, the job ended up being more than first thought. He brought up a number of safety issues which I really appreciated, such as under -sized wire, incorrect connections, missing junction boxes, etc. He worked very hard and fixed everything he could in the time frame he had. I will definitely have him back to complete some other safety issues and wire my shed. If I have any other problems, Eager Beaver will be the first people I call-great experience.

Installation of the backsplash went very smoothly. Additionally, the installer made a small suggestion which improved the final look of the project tremendously. A few days later the French doors went up. I was concerned because the openings had to be modified to fit the doors but, all went smoothly. Make sure to verify that you are located within their service area.

Shane Halpin is the owner of the company. From the very start, and throughout the process, Shane kept in close touch with me. He arrived promptly, acted professionally, and responded quickly to my questions. He helped me select the right products for my needs. He sent out some great plumbers (Joel's Plumbing) who addressed all the problems that arose with a poorly constructed 40 year old house with old plumbing. A carpenter arrived to repair the walls, and another worker came in to spackle, paint, and install two grab bars. I'm very happy with my new tub and surround, and I feel so much safer with the grab bars. They did a beautiful job.

After the price was quoted, Shane Halpin wanted a 50% down payment which was listed on the contract. We paid that money and the work began. We did not know that he would be hiring many different workers to build our fence. Each day one or two new workers would continue on the fence, and did not know where the previous one had left off, therefore leaving the fence installed improperly. We assumed that Shane Halpin would supervise and be on site to make sure the fence was being installed properly, but he never was. The posts and the 2x4 support runners were not set correctly and therefore the fence had many gaps. Shane Halpin stated that we did not ask for specific design, but that is not a design issue, it is basic knowledge of how to construct a fence. He also did not show us any designs or ask our approval of materials. We had to request a quote from a reputable fence company because pickets started to fall off. Shane Halpin stated that since we had to reattach the pickets that he would not give us a warranty. He stated that we altered the fence. I learned from the fence company that Shane Halpin's workers did not use the proper nails and that is why the pickets are falling off. Also, they reaffirmed that the runners are installed improperly. Per the contract, Shane Halpin was to stain the fence with stain that we would purchase. He stated that we would only need 6-8 gallons, it ended up being close to 20 gallons because he again hired workers that used an industrial sprayer to spray a fence. Therefore requiring triple the amount that was stated. When we discussed the issue with Shane Halpin, he stated that they were "professionals" and knew what they were doing. While over spraying the fence stain went on our garage. We asked Shane Halpin to get the painters out to correct stain on the garage. He called them and they did not get back to him. He then sent an email stating that he was over the painters and that he was going to get somebody else out to fix the mistake. These are the so called professionals he hired. The painters finally did call him back and they did come fix it. We were very disappointed with his response to our concerns with the fence. He said that we were the worse customers he had ever dealt with. He refused to do anything to correct his error. All along the way, Shane Halpin kept asking for installments for payment even though it was never in our contract. He stated that we had already paid for the fence and that he was done. We saw it as him being able to pay his workers, not as an end to one of the projects. We thought we were doing him a favor. As for the sliding glass door, it took over three months for it to finally be finished. The door was ordered in August when we started the project. When it arrived and one of his many workers came to install it, it was warped. Therefore the door company had to send a representative to inspect it to decided if they would order a new one. After two weeks, a representative finally came and stated they would order a new part of the door. In the meantime, his workers used liquid nails to secure the door as they already taken the old one out. On October 25, one man was hired to install a three panel sliding glass door. It took him 12 hours to uninstall a door that had been secured with the liquid nails and install the new door correctly. He had to come back the next day for 6 more hours to complete the installation. Shane Halpin said that he would clean off the area outside the door on the brick where the liquid nails was very much evident. He then changed his mind and refused to do anything else. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare and we would never recommend him. We are now having to hire a reputable company to repair our fence.

They called 1 1/2 hr before appointment and canceled ( He had a employee not show up) & I understand these things happen. I called & rescheduled for 2 days later. The appointment was never kept & They Never Even Bothered to call me!!!! So basically I spent a entire afternoon waiting for a NO SHOW!! I wonder how they would like to show up for an appointment and we not be there !!!!!!!

Shane made sure all work was done correctly and to our satisfaction. He went above and beyond in finding workmen to work with special fixtures we had ordered. We are extremely pleased with our new bath and with the professionalism of this organization

The scheduling of the consult was very easy. I simply called left a message, then Shane Halpin at Eager Beaver called me back quickly and came out to look at the things that needed to be done within a day of our conversation. He e-mailed me an estimate within 48 hours of the initial consult. The project was scheduled within a week of the quote. I purchased the style items [faucets, light fixture, soap dish, mirror, exhaust fan, ceramic soap dish, and paint]. Shane was very helpful with recommendations of what to purchase. By the time the workday arrived, I had everything ready for the projects. There were timely e-mails with a reminder for the project schedule date as well as updated arrival times. The communication process was impressive. Shane (2) arrived exactly on time and went right to work. He was extremely professional and personable. He kept me updated on his progress in the completing the checklist and offered great suggestions for minor improvements. Everything was done in a day! Shane (2) left everything clean and complete. I am extremely pleased. I highly recommend Eager Beaver Handyman to anyone who has a long or short "to-do" list.

Eager Beaver was very professional. Received a quote in a timely manner and started the job within a few days. We received updates on our email. Our chimney looks great!! Would recommend and plan on using this company again.

The owner set an appointment to have the work done then sent his workers out to do the work. Some of the workers did not show up to do the work on the days I was told they would be at my home I waited several days for work to be done. Called the company many times during the coarse of trying to get work done, when the owner did call, he could not understand why I was upset for no work being done when scheduled. At one point the owner told me , that his company had the best rating on Angies List and I should be pleased that he was fitting my small jobs in his schedule so soon. I paid for work that was never completed, the leaking window, no worker showed up to do this work after the owner repeatedly assured me that a worker would be at my home to fix the window. I finally had to call another handyman service on Angies list to repair the window. Work that was done on time and at a very fair price. I would not recommend this company to anyone based on my personal experience.

They did a couple of things. First, they put linoleum in the upstairs bath and redid the toilet. Next, they re-sheet rocked the ceiling in the first floor den, rehung a beam, and re-painted the ceiling. The work was excellent. The 'expert' workman (Shane) was polite, friendly, punctual, and thorough. You can't ask for anything more. Job was done in a timely manner and we're very happy with the results. We'd definitely use them in the future.

They completed every task in a reasonable amount of time and everything was done very very well. The cost was reasonable. I will definitely use their services again!

I had such a wonderful experience with this company! I've dealt with other handyman services and by far Eager Beaver handyman service has been the most pleasant. Their communication, punctuality and quality of work is excellent. I definitely would hire again.

I contacted Eager Beaver Handyman Services while obtaining quotes from other providers in the area. Eager Beaver was the only business willing to undertake the work. We needed to fill a empty, wasted space in our kitchen with two sets of drawers--running a new counter over them with matching tile--building a set of custom shelves above them. After obtaining a quote a week after the initial free estimate, the work began a few days later. The carpenter dispatched to the house did a fantastic job, building everything on site from scratch. He was always on time, communicated with us about everything, had a pleasant disposition, and left his work space clean each day. There is no way I can compliment his professionalism and skill enough. After I expressed a few initial concerns about the work just as it began, Shane, the owner, was quick to respond to our worries, assuring us that he would see the work to completion, which, as we discovered, should have never been a question. From the initial phone call to the completion of the work, Eager Beaver proved themselves to be a top-notch, professional business. I would recommend them to anyone without reservation.

They came out and then said they couldn't fix any of the items on the list. I provided a copy of the home inspection as well as a detailed description of every item I needed fixed. The description of this provider said they had a "team of specialists ranging from plumbers, carpenters, electricians, tile and flooring specialists, and technicians specializing in those "head scratching" projects that seem simple but turn out to be unmanageable." If they couldn't do the repairs, then why did they waste my time? That's why I gave them a list. Now I need to find someone that can do the work before closing.

. Two technicians were needed. One had done this type of installation before. Both men were prompt and personable. The awning was very large and needed a third man to mount it toward the end of the job. He was sent to my home quickly and they completed the installation. The price quoted was accurate, and I was not charged for the third man. I was happy with the work, and would call this company again. I would also recommend the company to my friends and neighbors.

We had a stand up shower that was tiled and the tiles began to fall out. Called and Eager Beaver owner Shane had someone come out for estimate. After talking with this person I decided to remove the small stand up shower and convert the tub into a tub/shower combo and make a closet in place of the old shower. Shane then sent the contractor out and he did estimate. Out of 4 estimates although this was not the cheapest it was the most comprehensive and the contractor assisted by making suggestions that worked well for me as well as was conscious of the amount of money needed to convert bathroom. The other estimates were very over priced except for one and they were not willing to assist in moving the shower to make a closet. Eager Beaver listened and then worked with me to provide what I wanted at a price that was reasonable and comfortable for us. Dan was our contractor. He removed the old shower, replaced with closet, retiled the floor, then he tiled around the tub and made a shower/tub combination for us. His tile work was excellent and the construction was done without huge messes for me to clean up. Very professional and courteous. I would definitely contact this company again to do any services we needed. They offer a wide variety of services and Shane the owner makes sure you receive the appropriate person for the services you need.

The whole experience was good. The estimate was quick, and follow up went well.

Just about a week later- Shane sent an email to everyone (CCing the whole group) that the deal was not going to happen, offering a refund. I called Shane and explained that I was in no hurry - get it to me in the next month- work wasn?t going to start until the fall. Shane said he simply couldn't do it and was going to stick to his main business- power washing. He offered me a refund. I refused in that I pay for Angles list - and that the coupon had Angie's name on it- somebody owed me my rendering. Angie's List reps would call me - and tell me how they were going to fulfill this "Angie's List Deal? but not call me back. I would call them and they'd act like I never called. Apparently they would call Shane and harass him to fulfill the deal. Shane again reached out to me and asked me to accept a refund. I refused insisting that Angles List should have better vetted the deal and that it was ANGIE who owed me the deck rendering. After months of back and forth with this - Shane had to send a guy back out for measurements- and delivered the below rendering made on Lowes.com It wasn?t what I expected initially nor was it what he told me it would initially be- but it technically fulfilled the deal. Shane was always straight forward and honest with me- when he got in over his head he let everyone know and I respect the way he conducted his business. ANGIES LIST failed me- by not delivering on finding a replacement when the coupon/deal I bought from Shane couldn't be fulfilled- they kind of bullied Shane in to doing it anyways. Attempts to reach Angie direct through the help desk never got me to the founder.

If you are the kind of person who likes to pick out everything at your local hardware store and have someone do the handy work, this is the group for you. Shane and his crew performed most of the work on our two bathroom remodels. They did the hard parts, by far. Shane's staff was great to work with and did a great job. We will be using them for future needs. I recommend them to anyone who asks.
