Response from Dulin Mechanical Services Inc
On 5/7/14 our technician was dispatched to Ms. [removed member name]’ home to address her no cooling issue. The problem our technician found was a bad capacitor. The technician quoted our standard rate of $172 for this part plus the $85 diagnostic fee which was approved before installation and was also given a $35 off for her Angie’s list coupon. After the installation of the part, member found the part online for less money and called our office and spoke to our staff. In the conversation it was explained to Member that an online price for the part may be cheaper because it is not including the labor to install or the warranty covered by the manufacturer. Most parts online are not OEM quality and parts should have at least a one year warranty. By purchasing the part from Dulin Mechanical he will receive a 1 year warranty on the part as well as the labor to install it. We cannot compete with any part prices on the internet. We have qualified service technicians in the field with the proper tools, equipment and training to make the necessary repairs. In today’s business world, this rising cost of gas, workers compensation insurance and employee wages for qualified technicians all have a role in how a price is set for any part we replace. Other factors include the amount of time it takes to replace the part. It is hard to wait on parts to be shipped when a person does not have heat or A/C that’s why we try to inventory our trucks. We did have this part in stock on our truck that day and the system up and running when the technician left. After explaining this to the customer the manager made the decision to issue a check crediting the amount in question in an effort to satisfy the customer. We thank you for your comments on your recent experience with Dulin Mechanical. We are sincerely sorry that you were not pleased with our company.
