DISCOVER MOVING & STORAGE

This moving company contacted me via phone after filling out a form on line for moving companies to call me with rates for a move from IL to AZ. A rep. with the comp called me and we spoke about the move. I was actually already on my way to AZ in my personal car while we spoke. My girlfriend was doing the leg work for me: verification of Discover Moving thru their website and looking them up on the BBB. The rep and I agreed upon a contract and he faxed our verbal conversation to my friend Lauren, who reviewed it over with me. I confirmed everything was written in the contract that I wanted: free tape/blankets and weighing the truck before n after with weight receipts and pricing. All was on there and everything seemed legit. The rep called me back after a half hr and asked if I wanted to proceed with the contract. I agreed and gave him my credit card number. He asked that my friend sign the contract with my name but include a photo id of her with her initials next to my name. We both agreed that is how the contract would be signed. After getting off the phone with the rep, I called my friend Lauren and told her what to do. As she was signing the contract she noticed a "weird charge" on the contract and told me about it. I tried calling the company back and got an international number. I had Lauren relook up Discover Moving's website to see if I had written the number down wrong, but I hadn't. I tried calling both #s listed on their website: 800-888-0168, 704-393-5115 numerous times but got nothing, not even a recorded message. My heart sank and I got a funny feeling about this comp, so I then called my credit card comp and told them not to allow this charge or any other charges to come thru without notifying me first. The next morning the rep. called me to say that he did not receive the fax. I told him that I tried calling him several times yesterday but no one answered and no recording ever went on. I told him that I hired someone else since I could not get a hold of him and had a bad feeling about his company. All he could say was that they were a certified moving company and he would of had his workers there by noon to get my belongings. I am glad I did not use his company because who knows if I will ever see my items again. I looked at my credit card statement a couple days later and noticed that my card was charged $264 from them. On my cc statement it shows Moving Systems #214-295-7633. When I call the # they state they are America's Best Movers and the voice is the exact same voice as from Discover Moving. So is this place running under different names trying to scam people? I did not use their service, the contract was canceled the same day, no authorization was faxed to them
