Crown Builders

We found Crown Builders at a home show and had Brandon out for an estimate of having our house sided. He was thorough and friendly and we had our quote within a few days. It took a bit longer than we originally were told, due to weather hold ups, but once started, it moved very quickly. We had new gutters as well and the whole job took about seven days. We are very pleased with the results and have already recommended them to a neighbor.

I reached out to Crown Builders for a complete overhaul of my homes exterior. My initial consultation was with Michael Kirk, we discussed the project and everything I wanted to get done. He talked a good game, answered questions and seemed legit, he said he would need a few days to put everything together as far as an estimate goes. A few days came and went and I had not heard back. On the 4th day I reached out asking if he needed anything from me and inquiring as to when I would receive the estimate. He informed me that his painter was going to come by that afternoon to look over the painting job and that once he received the quote from the painter he would send everything over to me. The painter came by and we discussed what I wanted done, he said he would send Mike his quote in a couple days. After the painter left I emailed Mike and told him to just send me what he had and we can just add the painting quote to it when he received it. He said he would send me the numbers he had - never heard back from him or received anything from him. Five additional days went by and I had not heard a word from Mike, finally I reached out to him asking when I could expect the estimate as he was the last one I was waiting on, he responded "today." That was two days ago and still nothing. This individual wasted my time, wasted the painting crews time and told me on two separate occasions he was going to send me the estimate and never did. If this is the level of service Crown Builders provides when they are trying to earn your business I can only imagine what a nightmare it would be to get them back out here if issues arise after they have been paid. It's mind boggling why someone would come out to quote a job, send others out to quote aspects of the job and then never bother to put together a final estimate and waste everyone's time like this, it's inconsiderate and unprofessional. There are to many companies out there with great reviews to put up with this type of nonsense. If you're wanting several quotes for a job don't waste your time contacting Crown Builders for one of them. I ended up going with Southern Home Services, great reviews and the quality of service and communication is night and day from Crown Builders.

We interviewed several contractors prior to making our decision. We selected Crown as Kevin Woods provided us with several sample colors of siding, a lengthy list of homes in the area with the colors so we could see real life examples and outlined a vision for how the work would be done that made sense to us. Every worker that came onto our property was respectful, treated our home like they would their own, and did a highly professional job. From start to finish, we received expert guidance and an excellent work product so that our home is very attractive and living up to its full potential.

Met with Mike on a Friday. I spent an hour and a half discussing the project with him. He said I would get the quote on Monday. A week and a half went by with no word. I texted him to follow up. No response. I called and left a message. No response. Very poor service and no professionalism. I will never call this company again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Called and got a prompt appt. Came out and provided a dollar amount total with choices of windows and left brochures, was to provide written estimate. Four days later emailed them to ensure they had correct email address. Two days later response that office is closed for holidays but he would get it out. Week later called and they were to send message to estimator , That was nine days ago and still nothing. Disappointing since they did my roof a few years ago. If you don't want the job, just say so. You were told the number of windows upfront.

It was excellent. It was 5 stars. They were professional.

We replaced windows in our home which were 30year old. We had several window companies come in and give us lengthy presentations but none were convincing. We were referred to Crown builders from a coworker who had used them to replace his windows and was highly satisfied. Mike from Crown Builders worked with us patiently and advised us on the windows that would work for us and in our budget. Crown builders unlike other window companies was not pushing for a sale and their cost was very reasonable. Bobby and his team who installed the window were excellent and professional our house looks great. I would highly recommend crown builders after meeting so many window companies we knew crown builders were the real deal !

Mike was extremely professional and collaborative on the exterior design changes.. Crown provided examples, and electronic CAD links, to experiment with different materials from mock drawings, to assist with transformation of older home (40 + years) to a modern design. Addresses were provided of previous Crown work sites with color and material themes similar to our interest, to help with visualization during design phase. Once selection made, Mike and Justin led a team of highly skilled workers to deliver an amazing product. Team was very collaborative along the way, and we highly recommend Crown Builders.

Let me preface this by saying Crown put a roof on my mother’s house and windows in my sister’s house and did great jobs. Now on to my experience. I had these guys put on a new roof and install gutters. I signed their proposal and paid the deposit and let them know I’d be out of town for two weeks but as soon as I was back I’d be ready to go. I got back a week early and texted Mike the sales guy and never heard a word back from him so I had to call the office to let Tara know I was back early and ready when they were if they could squeeze me in that week (they couldn’t because it was raining, completely understandable). The following Monday the roofing supplies were dropped off (directly in front of my garage) early the day they crew was supposed to show up and then I got a call from Crown’s office telling me that the crew wasn’t going to show up that day. I mentioned that the pallet in front of my garage was going to be a problem and then suddenly they had a crew that would be able to make it after all. The roof was done that day and looks great! The gutter part of the job has been an exercise in frustration for me. A day after the roofing job was finished they sent out a guy, Andrew, to measure for the gutter job. He said, as it thundered in the background, they would try to do the job that day if the weather held. I just pointed to the dark clouds and said that probably wasn’t going to happen. He left without letting me know even a timeframe for when I could expect the work to be done. So then I called the main office to ask when I could expect the guys to come do the work so I could plan accordingly, they didn’t have an answer but said they’d have someone call me back. The next day, a Thursday, after not hearing back I emailed Tara and asked what the deal was she forwarded my email to Andrew and Kevin. Andrew called and said they were having issues with their supplier and couldn’t get the materials (by then it had been a month since I paid the deposit). Then Kevin called and told me something different than Andrew had and neither could give me a date that they would actually show up. The following Monday I spoke to Tara who said they had received the materials they were waiting on the previous Friday and they’d be out that week. The next day Andrew called back and said that the materials had just arrived the day before (Monday, not Friday as I had already been told) and the crew would definitely be at my house the next day (Wednesday). At this point I’m getting a different story from each person I talk to about why they just can’t be there that day. I can only guess that either no one communicates with anyone else at the company or they were unaware that I had talked to other people with the company so they just made up their own excuses. The next day the crew doesn’t show up and I get a call form Andrew around 2:30 in the afternoon saying they weren’t going to show up and explaining how the gutter crews don’t even work for Crown but are subbed out, something I was hearing for the first time, and he had no control over them showing up or not. The crew finally arrived at noon the next day, but with no foreman from Crown to supervise their work or ease the language barrier. Communication has been a real issue. The main office doesn’t know what the field crews are doing and vice versa and I have basically been left suck at home waiting and playing a guessing game as to when they might show up if they show up at all. It’s been frustrating to say the least. If you can’t make it that’s understandable - to a point - but don’t make up excuses like a toddler, just tell me you can’t do it. I would like to point out that everyone I’ve spoken to from Crown has been very polite but when I literally get a different story from 3 different people back to back like that, I can’t be sure what to believe other than they definitely weren’t showing up…again.

I truly can’t say enough about Crown Builders! We had our siding replaced, new shutters, gutters, windows and door! Basically our house got a face lift and it looks amazing! Kevin Woods was the Representative that came to our house. Not only was he very professional and friendly, he wasn’t pushy at all! The best part was Kevin could envision things that would improve the looks of our house that I could not see. His expertise in their products and color schemes made it easy to decide what would look great. The quote that he gave us was very reasonable and fair. Justin and the crew that came out to do the work were incredible!!! They started early in the morning and didn’t leave until the sun was going down. They worked so hard and their quality of work was top notch. Justin and Kevin both were easily reachable and kept me up to date through the entire project. There were no surprises through the whole process! In fact, a few Unexpected issues came up with our older home and they made adjustments to fix them without charging extra. They were all extremely professional and even better than that, they were so incredibly friendly. It truly was a smooth and easy process. We couldn’t be happier with our house and we’re so thankful we decided to use Crown Builders!

I'm giving a HUGE shout out to Mike Smith my sales guy, Tara, Justin, Bobby, Frank, and to all the crew members. I'm beyond blessed to have met these people. They made all my dreams come true. So, if you are looking for a company for this type of work to be done to your Home, call Crown Builders. Trust me you will not regret it, I sure didn't.

Crown Builders did an excellent job on the exterior of my house. Now, the exterior is maintenance free and I love it. They replaced my roof in 2007. They did a good job then and that is why I reached out to them for an estimate for the exterior work. They had a top notch team that was professional, had great attention to detail, and most importantly did the job right! I will use Crown Builders again and I would recommend then to anyone.

Great. We had gotten other quotes but Kevin at Crown was the only person I met with who seemed to understand what placement and design for 2 new window would work for the room. We were replacing 2 old triangular shaped panes of glass. The new windows look absolutely beautiful and are now the focal point of the master bathroom. They also did siding replacement on the back of the house. They used the best quality product and matched it to the rest of the existing house. (Another company we had used previously for siding replacement had not used good quality material or matched the color very well.). The windows took longer to come in than we thought. And communication could be a little slow but overall we are super happy with the work, the design, Kevin’s knowledge and expertise, the material used and the outcome.

This is the second time we used Crown Builders. We found them to be professional, punctual, and they performed quality work. Daryl also has a keen eye and had many great suggestions that improved the curb appeal of our home.

It was not an easy project but it was on my satisfaction.

My experience was both good and bad with this company. We were very impressed with their quote/ assessment and chose them because they seemed properly trained and also authorized to install this type of material on my home. They ripped off all of the old board, which is procedural, and we arrived at the site mid day, expecting to see the underpinning of the house. We ended up seeing many holes in the fiber board/ black board. They advised that we replace the black board and agreed to replace certain sections of it that was in very bad shape and continue on with the replacement of the Hardie Plank. They were very efficient in replacing the Hardie Plank and did a good job. The owner of the company who handled the sales end of the job, used work crews, and this was a surprise to us. They were a little difficult to deal with, perhaps because they had a certain budget to work with, I'm not sure. The owner of the company stated they were authorized to install the Hardie Plank and follow the manufacturer guidelines in installing this properly and correctly. Overall they did a good job, and the house looks like I expected it to, however, when they took a gutter off, they bent it, but they did end it up replacing it as they said they would. They did not follow through with some of my requests but the end results were acceptable. There were several smaller issues that were expected to be resolved, but ultimately was not attended to. The Hardie Plank siding is supposed to be an interlocking system, however, we did have a nail pop issue that is concerning. They have never reached out to us to follow up or do any follow up inspections. Update: After my previous review and some difficulties, they did come back out to finish the work. They attended to several details which they had originally failed to complete at the end of the project the first time. They fulfilled my wishes in terms of delivering the work in the way that I had hoped I would. I am pleased that they responded to me, and came out and did the right thing in completing the work.

Crown came to renovate the exterior of our home, removing 1970's plywood siding, replacing three windows and adding two new ones, wrapped the entire house with Tyvek, installed new gable vents, and resided the entire house with Hardie siding and trimmed all windows and doors with Hardie trim. All exterior accessory items (hose bibs, light fixtures, outlets, fan vents, etc.) were professionally trimmed with composite materials; and everything was painted to match. The crew (Frank and his team) were really great - they came each morning by 8am and jumped right in; and worked most evenings until they had to turn on their headlights to leave. They were friendly and polite, and took care to avoid damaging shrubs, etc . During tear-off, we discovered we had bats in the attic. The team worked on another part of the house while we had a pest company come out to take care of the bats, and we never experienced a disruption in the schedule. The reason for the B rating on responsiveness is that we had some punch list issues after the job was finished, and it took a few calls to get those items taken care of, but overall the job was completed very much to our satisfaction. Although this work was done in late 2014, we intended to submit this review shortly after, and I didn't realize we never finished it. So after a year of living with this renovation, we are immensely pleased and have recommended Crown to other friends. We have strangers from the neighborhood stop in the driveway to tell us how great the house looks, and we agree.

Was contacted and told someone would get with me about the work I needed done. The person I spoke to said they did not perform the work I needed but since I was a previous customer someone would contact me. Never heard from anyone and had to find another contractor. Previous experience with Crown was very good and Mike and his crew did a great job. Very disappointed but I would use them again.

The sales guy Kevin was very helpful however once the work started we had multiple issues. The job was supposed to be completed in 10 days but we did not give the final check until they completed the work which was a month and a half after their start date. The workers did not come on days that they said they would be working, were smoking near vents into our attic causing a smokey smell inside the house (they did stop when asked though), left many unfinished details that required multiple calls/visits to be completed and left lots of trash and nails all over our property. There was one area on the back of the house where the contract detailed they were to replace the siding. If we hadn't pointed this out to the sub-contractor and job manager they were not going to complete this area. We heard lots of excuses about how this person was new and didn't know or that is not what the contract says etc. After they said that the job was completed we had a list of 8 things that we felt needed to be fixed or finished and someone would come and do one or two of them but not the others requiring that I begin the process of calling them to come back out again which dragged on for weeks. We felt like we were always hearing "well they never told me that" or "I told him to do that, I don't know why he didn't", lots of pointing fingers without a lot of results. The sub contractor called me directly complaining that he had not received full payment from Crown Builders, that they were telling him that I wanted the whole job re-done (which was not true), and asking me to contact Crown on his behalf, putting me in a very uncomfortable position. The dumpster that was placed in our driveway left deep scratches on the concrete and we have been waiting to hear about how they will rectify this issue. We know people who have used this company without issue however we had so many that we could not recommend them. However if you do decide to use them be sure to carefully inspect all areas to be sure they are doing as they are supposed to. We also had them detail every issue to be addressed in the contract which helped us in the situation where they did not think they were supposed to repair one area of our house.

I interviewed a number of siding companies before settling with Crown Builders. Although Crown Builders didn’t have the lowest bid, I was very impressed with Sales Rep Kevin Woods during our initial meeting. He seemed very knowledgeable about siding and he pointed out a number of issues with the existing siding that other siding contractors did not. He also sold me on the idea that they could have the job completed within seven days, which was significantly less time than the other contractors. The final job looks great. However, it took them more than a month to complete the job and I had some concerns over the installation procedures. Crown Builders used subcontractors for this job. Some of the delays in completing the job were related to weather while workmanship contributed to other delays. An inexperienced worker ruptured a gas line while indiscriminately nailing building wrap with a pneumatic nailer. A stapler would have been a more appropriate tool for plastic building wrap. Although I complained of smelling natural gas, the workers continued to smoke cigarettes in the area of the leak. As a result of the leak, the gas company disconnected the gas and removed the gas meter until it could be repaired and inspected. Not only this caused more delays, but it was a major inconvenience with freezing temperatures forecasted for the next several days without gas and heat. Fast forward to near the completion of the job, it was discovered that several window screens were nailed shut from the outside and some screen frames no longer fit the windows. The new brick mold was not installed square or with consistent reveal spacing. Crown Builders, particularly Kevin, did respond promptly to my concerns to correct issues. James Hardie lists this company as a Preferred Installer. The Preferred Installer status given by James Hardie is probably nothing more than a marketing gimmick. To my knowledge, no James Hardie representative ever visited the home to inspect the installation as James Hardie proclaims. Based on other reviews and my own experience, Crown Builders may be better at installing roofs than installing James Hardie siding. As with any contractor, get several bids, read the reviews and complaints from other customers, and ask questions if something doesn’t seem like it’s being installed correctly.
