We were VERY pleased with ALL of the fabulous work Chris (the owner) and his crews did! They were in our home for MANY weeks and replaced almost all of our flooring throughout the entire house. They were very careful when moving our furniture around. We really appreciate the fact that Chris was very accessible by phone, not only when we initially contacted him, but also during the job. He truly wants to do the best job possible, obviously takes GREAT pride in his work, and is very fair in his pricing. All of the contractors associated with Cranston Flooring were very polite, conscientious, and knew their trade. Everyone who now comes into our home, including other contractors, notices the high quality of workmanship of our flooring and wall tiling. We could not be more pleased, and we would VERY definitely use them in the future without reservation. We highly recommend Cranston Flooring!

First, the estimating process was very impressive. Chris and his partner measured and clearly knew their business in figuring out the most efficient way to run carpet rolls for minimum waste. If you don't know, that's important, because you're going to buy the waste whether you know it or not. I had to replace flooring in a 4100 sq ft house, so the budget was an important factor. We did everything but the existing hardwoods in the dining room, living room, and foyer. Chris worked with me to find a good quality carpet and hardwoods at a price that fit my budget. He met me at the showroom and I didn't time it, but we spent a long time looking for just the right product and look. I then took home samples, confirmed the selections, and Christ was out and on the job on the day scheduled. His carpet installers were absolute pros. I have a large family room with an L for a pool table that takes three runs, and the seams are completely invisible. When they were done, everything looked perfect without me having to go behind the job and point out anything to follow up on. On my request, they left all the decent sized scraps for me to use a mats to help protect the new, clean carpet from having dirt tracked in as we show the house. Chris and his partner handled the hardwoods in a complicated kitchen that has a desk with knee-hole built in, and island, a dinette nook with angled walls, and five doorway exits. There were, by exact count, a jillion cuts, and they got them all right. The result looks beautiful, and literally everyone who has come into the house has commented on that new kitchen floor. Chris was friendly, personable, and easy to work with. I'll never use anyone else for flooring projects.
Description of Work: To get our house ready to sell, we need to replace all the carpet, and replace the linoleum in the kitchen and laundry room with hardwood.

We're getting ready to put our house on the market, and after 25 years here we definitely needed new flooring. Chris helped to meet my budget, which was very important. He did this by helping me find good looking flooring at a good price, and my adjusting his installation cost. Much appreciated. This is a large house, and the carpet installers were done in two days. They were very professional, obviously knew what they were doing, and took care of the little details that made the new carpet look sharp everywhere. I did work with them to make sure that furniture was out of rooms by the time they were ready to do that particular room. For the carpet, having it done over two days gave me a chance to reset and move furniture between rooms to get the second day's rooms emptied out. Chris and his partner installed the hardwoods themselves. They started on day two, and the hardwood installation took two days. My kitchen has a lot of cuts, with a built-in desk, an island, and a breakfast nook. The measurements and the cuts were spot on accurate. My floor has a slight hump in the middle, so Chris steered me away from flooring installations that would have eventually been a problem, and we went with a floor that could be nailed down. So my flooring was in with a three day install. For a house this size (4200 sq ft.) that was quite acceptable. Everything looks great, and we're now ready to get this place listed. I have no problem recommending Cranston Flooring. I found him to be knowledgeable, accurate, and very competent. Call him with confidence.

Chris Cranston is an amazing professional, a skilled tradesman who is able to produce outstanding quality work. Perfectly laid carpets speak to the quality of his dedication to detail. His adept skills at handling the whole process produced an absolutely perfect job well done for my home. I am so pleased with how Chris handled both the business end of his agreement and the manual labor he provided. I truly felt that Chris was genuinely dedicated to providing the best possible quality installation for me. During preparation for installation of the carpets, Chris ensured that all tack strips were repaired/replaced/ in place. He had all necessary professional equipment to do the job right. I highly recommend Chris Cranston/ Cranston Flooring when you need any flooring project done. He was punctual, straightforward on costs and what to expect, he followed through on completing the job on time, highly professional, and a pleasure to work with during the whole process. Thank You, Chris, for making my floors beautiful.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!! Chris Cranston put my tile floor and back splash in a little over 2 1/2 years go which costs me 5000.00 dollars. About 4 month's later, I started seeing cracks in the grout lines! I called him immediately he said not to worry that it was just settling and he would come fix it. He came out and looked at it and at first blamed it on the his tile guy, he asked him right in front of me did you mix the grout to thin or to wet? Dave his tile guy responded with no, it must be moisture under her house. Dumb me!!!! I believed them, they then went under my house with A GADGET that reads your moisture content my neighbor told me at the time he was full of s***. He told me then he would not fix it until I fixed the moisture problem. I then replaced my plastic under my crawl space and spent 1000.00 on that to do so. He finally came out after 6 month's and put in new grout. I asked then is the tile moving he said NO!!! Three month's later grout is cracking again he comes out does the same thing to fix it. This time he tells me my house is moving and I need to hire a contractor or inspector to figure out what is wrong with my house. Three month's later it is cracking again he makes me wait another three month's to repair it because my floor is expanding due to weather changes and this effects the expansion of my floor. I asked him at this point about a flexible grout and about the thin set that was used. I told him what two other flooring people suggested, he said we will see. When he gets there he starts to do the exact same thing to repair it that he has done the last two times. I asked him is this going to fix the problem? Because, I am going to be putting my house up for sale and don't want the new home buyer to have issues he said well, I think you should sell it as fast as you can so it is somebody else's problem. I told him what the other tile people said about the thin set and the flexible grout. He said to my face well why don't you have them fix it then? He then told me they have changed the grout to avoid any problems with future jobs because of my issues with my floor. So now after 2 and 1/2 years I have decided to hire someone else to fix it because he refuses to fix it right. Here is what has to happen to fix it correctly. My kitchen is going to be a complete mess again for about a week they have to go in and lift up the tile to get all the old thin set off and start completely over. The tile is placed on backer board which he did but also a thin set is applied to basically glue down the tile. If this is not correctly put down, if it is applied to thin your tiles will come loose in some areas on corners and when this happens your grout cracks because the tiles are moving not your house!!!! This is what happened on my job. Dave his tile guy was left to do this job by himself no help at all on a large area which was Kitchen, Den, Laundry room, and Half bath and the thin set was spread onto big areas to thin and dried out before the tile was put down because it was him doing it alone. Dave was very upset and angry because he was doing this job by himself and expressed it to me when Chris wasn't around I came home on two different occasions within the 4-5 day period and he was always alone and no on was helping him. I don't blame Dave, I blame Chris! This man was extremely nice and seemed to know his business very well! I trusted him. He lied to me about my crawl space, he lied to me about my house moving, he lied to me about the expansion of the floor, he also told me my pergola was moving and that needed to be replaced which it is not. He did this to avoid re-doing a job that he messed up in the first place. I am now spending another 1000.00 plus 300.00 on three boxes of new tile because when they take them up, I will have a good bit of broken tile! It is very sad and disappointing that there are so many dishonest people who will lie to your face to avoid admitting fault for there own stupid mistakes and not correct them. I trusted this man and his small private owned little company. I wanted to support the little guy and not use Home depot or Lowe's because I thought I would get a trustworthy individual who really cares about his customer and his reputation! I guess my next step is to call the better business bureau or action nine what do you think????? Lucy Stephan

We had carpet stretched in four rooms. Chris and David are experts and leaders in the industry and are very professional. They are very aware of appointment time and called when they were on their way. From their workmanship it was obvious they set their standards high. They also vacuumed and cleaned up as they did the work. We are moving to a new home, and we will need their expertise there.

I am really surprised they have not been reviewed yet. We had a difficult hard wood flooring project as part of a renovation. On a cracked slab, moisture issues etc... They did a great job of advising on solutions, risks and costs. Once we decided our direction they knocked it out. You know how you meet some people and they are passionate about what they do. You do not usually see that in the construction industry. I would say these guys are floor geeks. And I mean that with the utmost respect. A year or so after the initial install we had some gapping due to humidity/settling issues. For some reason I fixed myself by filling in the gaps with wood caulk for about two years. Ridiculous, I know. Finally I called them(more than 3 years after the install) and they said they would come right over to assess. When they arrived they almost knocked us down to get to the problem. Kind of funny. At the end he walked me around and said, we got it all fixed, nothing more here to be "embarrassed" about. That is what I am talking about. They have enough passion where they truly feel a gap in the floor board is embarrassing. Not worthy of their name and they will get it fixed. Even though it had nothing to do with them or their original work. You get the feeling that their standards are higher than yours. They left the door open too. Any additional issues in the future just give them a call. I recommend them for sure!

He called several times to make sure he was going to pick up the correct pad and even brought 2 different pads so there was no mistake. He reinstalled my baseboards and my French doors. I thought I would have to call someone else to do the baseboards. He even moved my furniture back in place without me asking him to do it. He came on time, took about an hour, and the carpet actually looks better than it did before.
Description of Work: After water damage in my home, I needed an installer to reattach my carpet and put new padding under the carpet once the water was extracted. I found Chris in the yellow pages, after I called the company that originally installed my carpet. He returned my call promptly and worked with my schedule.
