Happy about the system so far.
Description of Work: Had these guys install a monitored security system. Installation went well, and they are reasonably priced (about $40 per month). Just a little disappointed on how much they charge to install wireless sensor for each window ($75 each), this can bring your installation price up very quickly (compared to the $99 installation fee they are marketing); AT&T offer to cover 6 windows for the same $99, so keep this in mind when you shop around.

My house was struck by lightning in May. The alarm system and the phone system by which the alarm company is notified were fried. Since the phone system was taken out CPI did not know why my system was off line, but did not call. In order to avoid the same issue in the future, they suggested they install wireless communication so their trouble notification would not depend upon the land line being operable. They came out, confirmed that there is no cell service here for carriers they use; therefore replacing the alarm system was pointless if the same thing could happen. They did not charge me for May or June, but started charging me again in July when I still had no service and decided not to replace the system since they can't guarantee they will notify me when there is a problem. They continue to charge me WITH NO SERVICE until the end of my contract, which they originally stated was October, yet they are still billing me in November. When and if I replace the alarm system, it will not be with CPI. Date of last phone contact is approximate.
Description of Work: CPI continues to charge me with no service.

I did my research and watched their video online. Wow...where do I start. Talk about a professional company. They blow everyone out of the water. They show up at your door in uniform with ID. They are friendly and answer any questions. They walk you through the system from start to finish. We now have the latest technology and video surveilance. I can see my home and check my status on my smart phone along with turn lights off and on remotely from anywhere. The response time is immediate. I know other companies have the same technology, but not the same service. Believe me, I know. After installation, the entire area was cleaned and vacuumed by the installer. I had a sysytem by another company and the service was less than desireable, along with the equipment. I never felt secure. I am so very happy that CPI is now monitoring my home. I expecially like it when I call them for anything, I actually get a real person on the line first time. Amazing.

The entire process was pleasant and professional. We got an accurate estimate and there was very little pressure to add upgrades or make a quick decision. Installer showed up on time, did a fine job, took time to explain things, etc. A month later, when the voice response was not working properly, a serviceman came out within a few days. Again, he was very helpful & professional. Fixed the problem, adjusted a few other things for us. We also called for some extra window stickers and they were sent right out at no cost.
Description of Work: We had a two-way voice response home security system installed. It included several exterior door contact alarms, several glass breakage detectors, and two internal detectors, one of which is a motion detector. We also had a fire alarm installed.

.Prompt aervice, highly proffessional, persnable, funny. They took their time, spent almost 3 hours installing, this made me feel good that they did not rush. when a company takes their time I feel the customer is priority and not how many systems can I put in today and lets hurry. I really highly recommend this company
Description of Work: the 2 men who installed my system were courteous, promp and took their time and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up the dirt that fell when drilling had to be done, were so personable and a delight to work with. I had a thorough teaching of ow the system works and they made sure I understook the system before they left. Highly recommend this company

We contracted with CPI for 36 months. We informed the sales representative (employee No. 3177) at the time there is a possibility that we may have to relocate during the 36 month period and were told we would be allowed out of the contract if: (a) we moved to an area where CPI does not provide service or (b) if the buyer of our home contracted with CPI. Otherwise we would be in default and subject to 75% of the remaining month's payments. We were okay with what we were told, although I should have known better than not to have the salesman's commitment in writing. It just made sense to me that if we moved to an area where CPI does not provide service we would not be penalized, and if we moved to an area they did service I would have been happy to retain them. By the way, it is not like they gave us anything free since we paid $198.00 for the equipment and installation and $726.95 in monthly service from June 2011 to September 2012. At one point we had problems with the system and got caught in a finger pointing exercise between CPI and Time Warner Cable, our telephone service provider. We kept getting false alarms and we were resetting the system day and night. Time Warner came to our home several times and usually within 24 hours of calling them. They did everything they could to troubleshoot the system but finally gave up after four or five visits. Between visits we called CPI and they did their troubleshooting over the phone and continued to blame it on Time Warner. Time Warner said they play this blame game with CPI frequently and suggested we have them come to our house and physically trouleshoot the system. We asked CPI to come to our home and they did; however, we had to wait about a week for them to come. Meanwhile we continued to reset the alarm at all hours. After they came to our home they did resolve the problem. It is now 10 September and my employer is relocating me to Ohio from Mattes, NC. When we called CPI to cancel the service they said we would be charged $703.50 in accordance with the default provision of the contract for canceling. We explained that we were relocating to Ohio for my employer and were told we were in default for early cancelation and would be charged 75% of the monthly fee of $46.90 for the remaining 20 months of the contract which is $703.50. We explained what the sales representative told us and that CPI does not offer service in Ohio and that we thought they were being unfair. We received no sympathy and in fact I called their representative Michael Scranton two times today and he failed to return either call, one of which was in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I feel like we have been ripped off - - $703.50 is not a small amount of money to me. Such a rotten thing to do for a local company. I know we were wrong not getting their commitment in writing regarding relocation, and as I said before I know better. It just made sense that there is nothing we can do about having to relocate and since CPI doesn't offer service in Ohio why penalize us? My advice is to get anything CPI says in writing. I also suggest contracting with a company that offers service nationwide, or at least an area greater than the Carolinas so you have options if you have to move. What a bitter memory we will have of leaving Charlotte after nine wonderful years there. Buyer beware. Shame on CPI for taking advantage of us. Don't be a victim.

They supplied us with what we needed at the time. They were very professional and easy to work with. I had them years ago in another state and I liked them, they are good here too. We have had no problems so far, but we have not had them long enough to "test the system". As far as dealing with them, they have been very good. The guy who came to install the system was nice, helpful, and answered all of my questions.

I have called the company and they offered my 15% off my bill. I will pay it and be done!
Description of Work: I had signed up for this installation and service in Nov. 2009My installation was not the $99 special because the basic installation would not work in my home.I spent close to $800.00!I have had the monitoring system since 2009 and it has failed numerous times. I could not get rid of it because of the initial costs. At times I had to unplug and wait for a technician to get there in 2 to 3 days. I have since moved out of the home and cancelled the security system. The house is being rented and the system has gone off on the renters! It's not even suppose to be monitored!I was told that I could unplug my contacts and move them to my new home for another $800.00 and a tech would go to my old house and remove them for $75.00 an hour. (I now live 3 hours away)I received a bill, after cancellation, for $164.47 for eccellerated billing until Nov. 2012! I don't know what this company is trying to pull, they definately false advertise and use the low costs to suck people in.I would never use them in the future and would warn everyone about thier tactics!

What I learned...make sure you get everything you need on the initial installation or you will pay multiple times over for "upgrades" or "additional" items down the road. I was promptly informed upon inquiring that I was "locked into my contract for another 24 months", not a good start. I was looking for a few extra door contacts and an additional wireless keypad and the cost was more than it would cost to cancel the remaining contract (24 months) and go with another vendor (largest in the nation) who would do this and add these "upgrade" and "additional" items such as 2 video cameras, touchpads, etc. for no additional cost to me. To be fair this is most likely consistent with all the vendors, they want the new business but for a customer that is willing to pay multiple years upfront I have options and will be taking my business elsewhere. After explaining my rationale, the answer was, "well to cancel your contract you need to pay X". Very short sighted on the part of CPI, a company that holds themselves out as the gold standard. Security systems are now a commodity just like cell phone carriers. The personal touch is no longer there. Again, ensure you get EVERYTHING you need/might want day 1, otherwise it's generally more cost effective to switch to a new vendor who is looking for new contracts, not long-term customers.

I feel like I got a great price for the services. They were quick and on time. The installer was very professional and took his time in teaching me how to use the system. Since then, whenever I've had a problem or question, I call them. Every encounter has been handled professionally and immediately. I would definitely recommend these guys. (I was going to go with one of their competitors, but the initial visit for info and estimate was a no-show. The 2nd visit was a no-show as well. Not even a phone call.) CPI is great. I feel totally safe in my home. That's important to me since I'm an older female living alone.

Overall, the installation was terrible. It took three visits for the system to be installed and working properly. There are still a couple of things that need to be fixed, but the system is working and I am just going to deal with it until the contract is up. I did keep track by email of the process. I am simply just copying and pasting the email message. *The first installers installed the WRONG security system* March 19, 2012 ***** showed up today and looked at our security system. ***** did notice that the system speaker was not installed in an optimal location and will need to be moved. The E3 system is also going to be installed as stated in the contract to replace the system that was installed. There should be no issues installing the E3 system. ***** did say that the 2nd keypad will cost money, but i pointed out the contract that shows that there should be no cost. I was told that someone will be contacting me to schedule the replacement install of the E3 system. March 21, 2012 Received a call today, 21 Mar 2012, from CPI to schedule the service to install the E3 system. 1-800-948-7133 x**** was the number left in the message. I called back to schedule the install date. I was told the soonest they had available was next week Monday-Friday. I requested a saturday install date but was told that they do not perform installs on saturday. I did inform the person on the phone that our system was originally installed on a saturday. She did look up the original install date and it was installed on a Saturday. She said that she will be contacting the installation manager/department to look into a saturday install date for availability and will be contacting me back. March 22, 2012 (email to sales person) Hi *****, Right now, getting the system we signed up for is not working out. I did receive a phone call from CPI scheduling yesterday and was told that the only available days to do the install were various times next Monday-Friday. I did ask if ANY Saturdays were available and I was told that CPI does not do installs on Saturdays which is not true. Our system, the incorrect one, was installed on 03/03/2012, a Saturday and our neighbors across the street was installed on a Saturday as well. The person did say that she was going to call and check and see if a Saturday install is possible. I'm still waiting for a call back. I also told the person on the phone that I did not want the installers from the originally install back in my home, I don't want them to have a second opportunity to mess up again. Last night I did look at our neighbors setup and it is clear that their level of service was far superior to ours. Even their camera was mounted and installed with the wires hidden in the wall whereas our camera is just sitting on our fireplace mantle plugged into an outlet. I also spoke to my neighbor about other aspects of their install and they were very happy. Their installer also took the time to take them through a demo, ours did not. This would have been very important for my wife especially since I was away on business. It is becoming clear that this is not working out. Right now we still have the wrong system, the system that was installed was not installed at a level I am satisfied with, and setting an install date that is convenient for me and my wife seems very improbable. Overall, I am paying and paid for a system I have not signed for and for a service that is below a standard I find acceptable, especially for a business that has the responsibility to provide security to my family. At this point we will need to discuss the contract and returning the equipment. I have been satisfied with your involvement, but unfortunately I had the misfortune of dealing with others in your organization who don't take the same level of care for their customers as you. I will contact you later today. Note: I did make contact with CPI in customer service as well as with the sales person. The reinstall was scheduled for March 24th. March 25, 2012(email to sales person) Hi *****, The installer, Michael, was great. He showed up, installed the correct system, and showed us everything we asked. We did decide to go ahead and stay with current indoor camera. Michael did mount the camera on the wall for us as well. We were very pleased with his work. Now the not so good news. Last night the glass break sensor triggered the alarm three times. The 1st time I went down stairs to check it out and even spoke to CPI over the intercom. Everything was okay. The 2nd time I went downstairs again, made sure everything was okay and disarmed the system before CPI came over the intercom. The 3rd time I disarmed the system and checked everything again. All clear. This time I left the system disarmed so the wife and I could sleep. I'm calling CPI to have someone come check the glass break sensor. And I did notice the our touchscreen pad is not showing the weather. I did press the icon several times and its not showing up. I don't know if there is something wrong with it or not. I will have to ask about that too. This experience hasn't been great. Note: i called CPI on March 25th in the morning. They were able to get someone out on an emergency repair call. It turns out the glass break sensor was either faulty or was not set up correctly which was the cause of the false alarms. As for the weather not showing up on the touchscreen, the feature was not enabled correctly. Overall the service was absolutely terrible. I never asked for compensation, aka anything free. All I wanted is the job done right. The hassle that the wife and I had to go through to get the system installed correctly is unacceptable. It took three visits. The sales person was great, and did respond and did get the ball moving on correcting the problem. He saved the sale, not CPI. I am signed up for a 5 year contract. So far I have no complaints with the monitoring service. In 5 years another company is going to get the opportunity to monitor my home.
Description of Work: I just purchased a home and by a referral from a friend, the wife and I decided to go with CPI for a home security system. Our initial impression from the sales person was great.

It went great overall. The salesman was friendly and professional. The service tech was knowledgeable and efficient. He answered all of our questions in a friendly manner. He came over expecting to just add the cell radio, but I mentioned we needed a motion sensor also, and he added it happily. He checked the overall operation of the system -- setting off every zone. He carefully showed my wife and I how to use the system. We are very happy with his work. The monitoring cost is a bit on the high side, but CPI was willing to work something out with some special circumstances we have, including needing a 12 month contract (vs. a 36 month or 60 month).
Description of Work: Used CPI to setup an already-existing CPI-installed security system in the home I am renting. The sales call involved giving us a high level overview of CPI's services and signing paperwork. The service work involved adding a cellular radio and a motion detector to the system, and checking everything over.
