I am writing this review to share my deeply unsatisfactory experience with Coleman Burnett Landscaping. This company was employed to maintain my lawn, but instead, they caused significant damage that has left me with a host of issues to resolve. Firstly, their team seemed to have very little knowledge about the proper height to set a lawnmower blade. As a result, the blade was set too low and it severely ruined my lawn. The grass was cut so short that it exposed the soil, leading to a dried-out, barren landscape rather than the lush green space I had envisioned. But the damage wasn't just superficial. The low-set blade also harmed my property's drainage pipes. This has resulted in a serious issue, as water is no longer effectively diverted away from my house, leading to potential water damage and expensive repair costs. The worst part is, the damage was never properly addressed by the Coleman Burnett team. It doesn't surprise me to learn that Coleman Burnett has recently lost their $100,000 contract with the Regency at Palisades. It's clear that their lack of professionalism and care for their clients' properties have had severe consequences. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Coleman Burnett Landscaping to anyone looking for a reliable and professional landscaping service. Their lack of expertise and disregard for property damage has left me with a ruined lawn and serious drainage problems.

Relative to the cost, we are receiving virtually no individual front yard service from Coleman Burnett, but as with many services HOAs become complacent and sticky with service providers. My specific observations are listed. 1. It will be July in the next week and our front yards have not been trimmed. Our plants are now over a foot overgrown. 2. Our side yard which is both our property and common area has not been cleaned of dead leaves. 3. The site manager Dave in May was to give us a credit on the standard pine mulch and freshen up with pine nuggets, but this has been ignored. 4. Coleman's work has become sloppy during planting with little concern for neatness 5. Irrigation lines have been moved and broken during plantings and not repaired or replaced as found 6. Weeds are not pulled or treated. 7. Last year I asked for four carpet roses to be installed at my own cost. I was quoted a rate of $37.50 per man hour and was told it took three man hours to plant these four one gallon plants. I received repeated invoices for $300y which took numerous phone calls and conversations and nine months to correct. Ultimately, I was billed $150 instead of the quoted $112.50 because of additional materials used which I still don't understand since I supplied the plants. I gave up the effort and paid the final bill. I could have planted those plants in one hour by myself. Anecdotally, I see Coleman Burnett in the neighborhood far less, with fewer crews and installing more inexpensive plantings than in past years. I believe Coleman Burnett has become complacent and perhaps with his growing business can no longer manage his volume so he has reduced service levels over the past few years. Beyond his site manager Dave, who will not take notes or follow-up on requests, there are no longer any crew members that speak English. Below is the list of services we have received in the last year for front yard maintenance which I don't believe justifies the fees being charged. I would estimate that it is less than 8 man hours of labor in the past year. Our front yard measures 15'x40' (very small). Jul/Aug-2012 -plants trimmed Sep/Aug-2012 -flowers planted Dec-2012 -plants trimmed (after repeated requests over 3 months to do so) Apr/May-2013 -flowers planted (did not follow instructions as promised, half of plants discarded) I believe there are many neighborhoods which utilize Coleman Burnett for common area services and I have found those services adequate except for my previous observations on specific issues and a reduced presence. Overall, I would not recommend this landscaper to other neighborhoods or individual homeowners without a rigorous process to measure and ensure services are provided over time. Also, if individual attention is important for homeowners, absolutely do not use him for front yard maintenance.
Description of Work: Coleman Burnett has been the landscaper for the Heydon Hall neighborhood for about four years. The company is contracted to maintain both the common areas of the neighborhood and the front yards of each individual home. The contract is paid for by the HOA. Through the overall HOA fee front yard maintenance is approximately $150 per month for twelve months totaling about $1,800 per year. As part of the service, front yards and side yards of end lots are to be trimmed three times per year, flowers are to be planted in spring and fall, any grass is to be mowed (very small front yards and some that do not have grass), yards are to be maintained for weeds and in general maintained for overall tidiness. My review focuses primarily on the front yard maintenance, but I do have some observations for the performance in common areas.

I worked with Coleman's company for 2 years, while I was grounds chairman with my homeowners' association. His company has worked in South Charlotte for quite a few years, and many of us have admired their work along Rea Road in the Piper Glen area. Coleman is a fair person with whom to do business, and his attitude to his employees' well-being is admirable. I would definitely recommend his company's services to anyone who wants their lawns and gardens to look the very best.
