As bad as it was to have a leaking roof and the resulting damage, I am so glad I found Charlotte Roofing Specialists on Angie's List. Their knowledge, professionalism, and quality of work were outstanding. They responded immediately to my inquiry and sent Jim Howell to meet with me and inspect the damage. He was able to explain precisely what was wrong and how to fix it. The garage roof had the issues it did due to the surrounding architecture, so it was not just a run-of-the-mill situation. (Another roofer I interviewed had totally missed this.) Understanding the urgency of the situation, the crew worked non-stop on a Sunday to repair. Being that my bedroom window overlooked the garage roof, I had a bird's eye view of everything the workers did. They were an efficient crew who worked well together. After seeing the roof they removed and the new one they installed, I don't think it will ever leak again. They uncovered more damage than was anticipated and Jim contacted me immediately to explain it would cost slightly more. Since I had been watching the workers closely, this was no surprise since I'd seen it first hand. The workers barely took a break and left the site sparkling clean. The roof they installed far exceeds the roof they replaced. We've had some rains and snow since, and no leaks to report. When it comes time to replace the house roof, I know who to call.

David Sammons did a great job. Weather was not cooperative, but David worked through every issue without complaint or excuse. There is not a person that I would hire over David for any project. Best reccomendations I've ever gotten from Angies list.

David and his team were great to work with. He promptly provided an estimate and fully answered all my questions. When comparing his proposal with other estimates we received, he not only offered a higher quality of work, his price was the best. Made for a very easy decision! His entire team took great care to protect the house surroundings and cause as little disruption as possible. By the time they were done, you would never have known they had ever been there. They have a favorable AL rating so I started this process by calling this company for an estimate. I was contacted by Jim Howell, their roof inspector/ evaluator. He met with me promptly and did the inspection by getting up on the roof and gave me the estimate within 2 days. Jim also came back here a second time to meet my husband (my request) so he would have a better understanding of our roof's condition and why it should be replaced. Samples of roofing materials were brought here to determine sytle and color. Although generally I always obtain multiple quotes from various providers I did not seek more in this case. I was so impressed by Jim Howell's explanations, courtesy, and demeanor that we went ahead with this company. It was supposed to be a 2 all-day job. Unfortunately day #2 turned out to be a rainy day and they had to suspend working. (a Friday). Because the crew needed to get the job done due to weather changes they came back and worked on Sunday, all day and finished! Replacing a roof is extremely messy and Noisy! and the crew did a wonderful job of picking up nails, shingle debris, and blowing and sweeping. The crew was extremely careful throughout not damaging our bushes, lawn, and landscaping in general which I had requested before we signed the contract. Jim also gave me some advice to repair mortar in several areas on the facade of our home. I appreciated that. Our roof is very attractive and we know our home is protected for many years to come. The only reason I gave a B on the Cost is because I did not obtain other bids so I couldn't compare with other companies.

I had a small leak due to a nail pushing back up out of the roof tile. It was difficult for the repair person to find however while he was looking he noticed a lack of sealant around several of the roof penetration's metal flashing. He sealed all of these as well as the small leak. Well done - I will use them again if needed.

Very quick service. Called David Sammons, the owner of Charlotte Roofing Specialists, and we scheduled a site visit for roof replacement. David is very solution oriented and not quick to just throw out a uneducated/thoughtless scenario. During the site visit, he took accurate measurements and detailed notes on the specifics our roof. From there, he stated he would be in touch re: pricing. Within that week, he provided a detail quote on the roof replacement. He will give you several options to choose from, his recommendations, and pro's/con's to each. He is respectful and honest, which is tough to find in contractors these days. Every interaction seems as if he is in the business for the long term. His crew showed up the following week and completed the roof replacement within a couple of days. They were always on time, worked as late as they could, and left our house clean. Third time we have used Charlotte Roofing Specialists. All for different roofing needs during our home ownership. Do yourself a favor and reach out to this Chapel Hill grad who also participates within Charlotte civic duties. Thanks Angie's list for helping us locate a great GC!

Work was performed as requested. They were extremely responsive and easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

We received a number of bids to replace our roof and couldn't be happier that we chose to work with David Sammons and Charlotte Roofing Specialists. David was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable regarding our roof and other work we could do to make the inside of our house cooler (more insulation, better fans, etc). David helped us decide on which architectural shingles to use (color), which was very helpful. The roof looks great and is exactly what we wanted. Plus the crew who installed the roof were professional, courteous, efficient and took great care to protect our property during the installation process. It went well. They did a nice job and were very clean. I did notice one roofing nail in the driveway after they left and let them know about it and they quickly came back with magnets to make sure there weren't any more.

David returned my call the same day I contacted him. He came out to give me an estimate of repairs the following day. He was on time & thorough in his evaluation. He sent his detailed proposal of work in writing for my approval. After my approval, we made an appointment for his crew to come make the repairs. The repairs were made & I couldn't be more pleased. David & his crew were on time & easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this company & will use them again if needed.

Had a piece of copper flashing fall from a porch roof. David Sammons personally came over shortly and made a quick fix and then scheduled a repair time. Today, had noted another fascia rot below another copper roof and called David again. He said he would be over in about 2 hours and even called to tell us that he would be 10 minutes late. What responsiveness!!! David takes pictures of the problems and is able to explain the problem with you by using the pictures.

Chris did the work himself and it has held fine.

Placed a call into Charlotte Roofing Specialist and spoke directly with owner- David Sammons. Mr Sammons scheduled a time to quote repair and arrived exactly when stated. Very professional, honest, and well run operation. Second time I have utilized this business for roof work. Consistent and durable crew. David is polished and presents well.

Thought I might have a roof leak so I reached out to these guys through Angie's list. Had a call back in just an hour or so. Dave Satton, the owner, came to my house the next day, diagnosed the leak, took pictures, explained what needed to be fixed and gave me a price. I accepted and he said that they could have someone on site the next day. I got a call later that afternoon saying they had someone in the area that could swing by and fix my roof that day. Someone showed up about 4pm fixed the roof and showed me what was fixed and even checked all the other pipes on the roof to make sure it wouldn't happen again. This was the best experience I have ever had with a roofing company. 10/10 and I plan on using them for any future roofing needs.

We were happy with the results of our roof. Jim was very responsive to answering all our questions during the process of the estimate & scheduling the appointments. The roofing team did an excellent job cleaning up the yard after it was finished. We would recommend Charlotte Roofing as a reliable company with competitive prices.

They did a good job. It was very good. It was very professional. I only had one minor issue and I called them back on. They replaced part of my roof and there was a quality issue, some of the flashes started to rise up, I called them up and they responded very quickly.

Prompt arrival, honest advice that in this case meant no business for them. In other words, they operated with integrity. I would definitely use this provider when the time does come to do the job.

I contacted this company, based on the good reviews on Angie's List, seeking possible repair or replacement of a section of roof that is flat, and for repair or correction of a defective copper gutter installation that was causing severe leaking behind gutters onto and down fascia boards and soffits. I called the company 8/28/13 and left message explaining the issue and requesting a call back. No call back. On 9/9 I called again and talked to Jim Howell. Jim inspected the roof and gutters 9/10. He said he would consult with his gutter subcontractors and contact me with a recommendation and quote. 9/17 he called me and left message saying he had a solution. I called back 9/18 and was unable to reach anyone at the company and left message asking him to call me back. No call back. 10/1 I contacted him again. He recommended tearing off all of the existing copper gutter, which was only 2 years old, and replacing it with new copper gutter that they would specially fabricate. I asked for an estimate/quote. He had not taken measurements when he was here, so asked me to measure and tell him. I did this by email 10/1 and again requested a proposal including a quote. In my 10/1 email I also asked him to clarify why it was necessary to remove and destroy the almost-new gutter. The repair needed was to prevent water penetration where the back of the gutter attached to the fascia; therefore I asked in my email whether an alternative was to simply attach an additional copper strip under the drip edge metal and over the back of the existing gutter, which was a solution recommended by 2 other roofing contractors. No response. I called to follow up and left a message 10/5. No response. I followed up by email and requested his response 10/11. No response. I never heard from them again. Jim seemed like a nice guy, but this company demonstrated very poor responsiveness and professionalism. I also question why they recommended very costly and apparently unnecessary work, and declined to answer my inquiry about alternative solutions. Given the lack of responsiveness and follow through - when seeking a new customer - and the questionable recommendation, I would not want to entrust this company with a critical job such as roofing or gutter work.

Every aspect of this project was handled in a professional manner, from the first contact, to the delivery of the materials, and completion of the job.

Their price was definitely comparable to other prices I got. They came out immediately and were very prompt. I thought that they were very knowledgeable and he had a lot of suggestions for improvements in addition to the roof replacement.

WONDERFUL...SPECTACULAR..!!!! The materials were delivered as promised on Monday afternoon and David sent a friendly text on Monday evening to touch base with us regarding the start time. Promptly at 7:20a.m, his crew arrived and began work immediately. David arrived shortly and introduced us to his crew's leader. They covered all of the shrubbery and made sure that all of our deck furniture was moved away from the house. We needed 3 extra boards replaced and we were promptly informed by David as well as provided with pictures, if needed. OMG! They were finished with the roof by 10:35 and with the entire clean-up process by 11:15a.m. The yard and home was thoroughly cleaned and inspected. This is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This process of a roof replacement began as a nightmare due to other contractors with "3" letter titles:( But thanks to divine intervention with the weather, their true colors were revealed and we moved on... David Sammons is truly a breath of fresh air in this market. He does what he says and he knows what he's doing. He also granted us his Angie's List coupon savings, even though our job did not total 5k. STOP shopping around right now and call Charlotte Roofing Specialists TODAY!

Charlotte Roofing Specialists did a really great job. They showed up the day they were supposed to, completed the job quickly and efficiently and cleaned up everything afterwards. David, the owner, called us and checked in frequently. He came over to make sure his employees had completed the job and made sure it was done properly. We were really impressed!
