Let me first say that the tech Dave was excellent. But, as you can see by the image, they charge like their parts are made of diamonds. $540.54, plus a $96.47 charge to diagnose. The tech was here for exactly 16 minutes, the replacement part cost $55.53. I called to see if there was a mistake, or at least find some middle ground in the pricing, but I was told this was the real price (I wish I had that kind of confidence). The owner claimed the tech was at my house for much longer that he was (spoiler: he wasn't, I have the nest cam time stamps). And that the price of the part was 3x what I find all over the internet (the tech put the part in my hand). Either a lie or I would like to retire and become their parts distributer (seriously, call me!). The craziest part of all this is I was about to get and ERV, whole house filter, and Mitsubishi Split AC from their company, I of course cancelled that appointment. I also wrote down Dave's name so he could do maintenance on my units in the future. They shortsightedly missed out on a ton of business because they won't budge on this extreme price gouging. My suggestion is if you for some reason want to use this company after reading this review, get a few more quotes around town before letting them in your house.

Contacted them and arranged a meeting time (days in advance) received and email confirmation which they missed. When I called they acted like it was my fault and that they got mixed up. Ric said he would give me a discount because of the missed meeting. I arranged another time which was inconvenient for me but I did it. Arrived at the meeting and explained what I wanted. Shared that I was looking at 4 vendors and he immediately told me that the competitors equipment was not made in the USA. BTW most HVAC product isn't produce in the USA. He spent 30 min as I went through the scope of work and he pointed out several things that he had to do which I didn't ask for and specifically said that I would do, Since I pulled the permit under my name. Waited a day for a quote emailed several times. Finally, received a response stating that I would be a great fit for another vendor. Having the experience in the construction industry. This company would be the last choice for doing any work given the unprofessional manner in which they conduct their business. Your expectations of performing your own venting of the range hood, bath fans & dryer vent as well as determining equipment location without adequate access did not work for us. All of this work would fall under our Mechanical Permit which we are responsible for, your requests were unreasonable. My furnace recently went out on a cold night in January. I called Charlotte Comfort Systems and they had a technician here the same day to diagnose it. The cost to repair was high given that the unit in my condo was on its last leg after 15 years of age and i needed a new system anyways. I was able to finance the unit through Lennox and had a new Lennox Home Comfort System installed 2 days later. I couldn't have been happier with the service and my brand new highly efficient air conditioning system. I would highly recommend the guys at Charlotte Comfort Systems if you're looking for professionalism and quality service!

Chris was extremely professional and took the time to find a buzzing sound that has bothered us since the new systems were installed. It all started on 11/27/17 when we woke up to a cold house and a very noisy motor sound I n the attic, where our gas furnace is located. I turned off the system ad called Charlotte Comfort Systems (CCS) to explain the problem. True to their word, Jeremiah Leemaster showed up before the end of the day. He got our system functioning again but advised that our blower motor was bad and needed to be replaced, at an estimated cos of $700 to $800. Since the system is over 10 years old and a "builder's" grade model, we discussed possible replacement. Jeremiah set up a meeting with Greg Plunkett on 11/28/17. Greg arrived promptly that morning, and after some discussion, we elected to purchase a new Lennox SL280V Gas Furnace. Greg graciously reduced the price by $100 to cover the service charge fee for the 11/27/17 visit. On 11/30/17 (we were not available until then), David and James arrived on time, bright and early. They put down protective cloth material from our front door, through the hall to the attic. They kept me informed hat was going on during the day, and cleaned up as they went along. Besides the furnace, they installed a new thermostat, a new electrical switch which had burnt out in the attic, as well as 2 carbon monoxide detectors. David and James were friendly and courteous, besides being technically proficient. They make a great team! Finally, to close the loop, on 12/7/17/ Jeremiah came back to perform the scheduled semi-annual service contract on the Heat Pump for our upstairs unit (the semi service on our gas furnace was bot need , or course, with a new furnace just having been installed). Jeremiah, incidentally, has been to our house several times for regular maintenance and/or repair issues. We are very impressed with him.

Jeremiah was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Answered all my questions and spent a lot of time explaining what my system needed. He was very aware of his recommendations and never pressured me to do certain services... left the ball in my court, but I felt like he gave me the info to make an informed decision.

The technician was thorough, thoughtful and did an excellent job. I have a rather large house with 3 systems so there is a lot to do and obviously I must pay more than most people who have only one HVAC system.

Well enough so that I won't consider changing HVAC vendors anytime soon. The fee I paid was a " co pay" as previously agreed to for the needed service, and not the cost of the replacement thermostat, which would have been considerably more than $500, if I'd been responsible for paying for its replacement.
Description of Work: My 16 month old "high tech" digital thermostat failed and with that failure my heat and air conditioning went off. Charlotte Comfort Systems, my contractor, sent Jeremiah to assess the issue and fix the problem. He confirmed that the thermostat had failed, and returned the next day with a replacement, which he installed, and set up for me. He also climbed a step ladder inside my home to replace a hallway A/C filter, so that I wouldn't have to balance my 75 year old body up that high for the task. All this seems pretty ordinary for any competent technician. But what set Jeremiah apart was how prompt, thorough, friendly and articulate he was in his answers to my many questions about my HVAC system and his willingness to make sure that all my HVAC issues were taken care of. I had 5 companies come in and give me an estimate. I picked Greg and Charlotte Comfort Systems for numerous reasons. After hearing my concerns and walking through the house, Greg sat down and spent the time to go through what he saw and explained a plan with pricing on how to best address those concerns. What really impressed me about Greg is that he gave me his opinion instead of just pricing me a new system. If you go see a Dr you want their opinion on what is wrong and how to fix it. Greg was the expert and he was not afraid to tell me what he thought I should do. Everyone else just priced me a system and left. Price was not the deciding factor, it was understanding what my house needed. If you want the cheapest there are a lot of companies that will just quote you the cheapest thing to sell you. Greg really cared and was not willing to provide me a subpar service just to get my business. I really respected that.

Noticed crack 2 days after service.Sent pic.Charlotte Comfort Systems owner called. Extremely rude.Told me not their problem and that it was obvious a previous repair problem.Reminded him it was a problem they caused when they installed new unit several yrs ago which they fixed. Stood his ground. Then 7/2 am noticed water leaking from hall ceiling light under where attic AC located and water puddling in cracked area about 2' ft from where water was coming through light fixture. I again sent pic. Was told would send someone out.But still not responsible for crack. 7/2 at 6p I heard nothing.I called and spoke w/ansewering service w/message of desperation as it was a wkend holiday. 7p tech showed. Found AC unit miss aligned causing overflow. I helped fix.Stopped leak.Duct insulation wet. No one had worked on the system expect them.Tech stated wet insulation needed replaced.Was told to charge $89 for his service. I refused and asked he write on repair order exactly what had happened and to have someone call me re cost concern and replacing wet insulation and ceiling crack. 7/6 a no call. I contacted. Got call from owner mid am. Stated would have someone call me to schedule replacing wet insulation but rudely refused to accept any liability for damage to ceiling. Furtermore stating the unit was out of warranty and I should pay for services provided.Again I explained problems did not develop until after his tech left.Refused to accept it was his concern.I've purchased 3 AC systems and 2 heating systems from them w/in last 5 yrs and only have had them do the bi annual routine maintenance. He continued to be very disruptive and argumentive. Standing ground.After multiple emails to date never heard back on scheduled insulation fix. I've moved on to having another source replace the insulation and fix the crack at my expense.I'm 2nd generation owner of a successful 42 yr old business and assuringly regardless of tenure if an employee is ever heard treating a customer like I was w/this company they would be serverly disciplined or fired. Will never ever do business w/them again.They won the battle but lost the war.

You did receive extended warranties on the new air conditioning systems when they were installed, unfortunately they do not cover condensate drains as they are not part of the HVAC equipment. We reconnected into your existing drain piping in August 2012 when the new units were installed. We warranty our work for a year, circumstances could extend that by a reasonable period of time, not 4 years after installation. The ceiling cracks were caused by my 170 pound employee accessing the equipment in the attic, having to walk on very thin plywood which allowed movement of the joists. We empathize with your issue but definitely cannot be responsible for issues caused by just accessing the units, the plywood should be beefed up to forestall this issue in the future. I wish you well hope that your home is comfortable.

I had Charlotte Comfort Systems of 3125 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208 install a new HVAC system in my house in Cotswold, August 31st of 2010. I have paid Charlotte Comfort Systems to come out, inspect and maintain the system two times a year for the past 6 years. The last time they inspected it was about 2 months ago. On Wed the 22nd of June the systems started blowing hot air. I called the people who installed it and who i have been paying to inspect and service it. They came out, their tech diagnosed the issue as being low on coolant and he just needed to fill it back up.. He dropped 2.5 pounds of coolant in it and took off. The AC started working again. I asked him how it could have drained so quickly and he said he didnt know and we discussed possible issues including theft. Fast forward to the next morning of the 23rd and its blowing hot air again.. Called Again and they sent the same guy out. This time he said It was again low and there must be a leak in the compressor and the reversering valve had also gone bad. He said he would send that into the office and they office would give me a call. Fast forward another 24 hours (today) the 24th and Charlotte Comfort Systems called me to give me the news. They said the good news is that the unit has a 10 year OEM warranty on all the parts. Those are totally covered.. The bad news is it did not cover labor. Labor to replace the compressor and reversing valve would be 2100.00 dollars. I asked about the service i had been paying for and had that not provided me any benefit and their response was "Well you get a 15% discount which is already applied to that 2100.00 dollars". As expected I was flabbergasted. I explained that this was almost the price of a brand new unit. Her response was that "yes its with in 500 dollars of a new unit". Not being able to just approve this price i had to shop around. Which BTW costs you 100 dollars per person that you have come look at it and no one will quote you over the phone even if you know exactly what you need done. I dont blame them but 100 dollars for a second or even a third opinion gets pretty costly. So i had another certified dealer come out and inspect the system. In about 30 seconds they found the issue (see attached). This is a line on the thermal expansion valve. Apparently its been resting on something and vibrated and wore through. Parts covered ,1,050.00 in labor to fix. Its getting fixed next wed. Now.. People pay a few hundred dollars a year for preventative maintenance that does NOTHING and provides NOTHING. They dumped 2.5 pounds of refrigerant (that costs 125 per 25 pound container) at the rate of 95 dollars per pound plus a 85 dollar service change. Which did NOTHING.. Then on his second call they were trying to charge me an additional 2100.00 to replace parts that were NOT broken. Had they been replaced it still would not have resolved my issue and had it been filled again for another 95 dollars per pound, simply leaked out putting us back in the situation. I called the office.. I spoke to a couple of people. I spoke to the owner.. I got it all on tape. Owner is a JERK....... I want to know why i have paid these people hundreds of dollars for preventative maintenance that should have prevented this issue. How can they justify over 400 dollars an hour in labor? I know how, its HOT AS ****...... they think people will just pay it.
Description of Work: Vendor sells a preventative maintenance "Contract" that does NOTHING. My hvac broke from parts rubbing together which should have been found in the twice annual inspections i have been paying for, for the past 6 years. First tech came out and didn't even troubleshoot it, he just dumped a bunch of freon in the system and bailed.. Next day they came back out and again failed to troubleshoot it and instead insisted that I needed to replace parts that were not broken,. Since the parts are under warranty i would only pay for labor.. at a cost of 2100 dollars in labor for 5 hours of work. I was smart enough to not just accept it and pay another 100 dollars to another vendor to inspect the unit. They found the issue in under a minute and suggested the proper fix. the office staff were very nice and professional in talking to me and addressing my concerns but could not answer the questions as to why i was paying for preventative maintenance and this was missed or why the tech totally botched the jobs and was about to charge me over 2000 dollars to fix things that were not broken and would have only ended with me spending another 1000 dollars to fix the real issue. When i spoke to the owner i had the gall to voice my concerns and got blasted for it. Scott is completely unprofessional. His techs are hacks. Do your self a favor. Don't buy their Preventative maintenance, its not going to save your hardware or save you money. If you do call them watch what they are doing like hawks. Ask questions. and if they suggest you need to replace something spend the extra cash and get a second opinion.
