+ -1 moreWe needed our pool opened earlier than usual because we were selling our home. The company that has serviced our pool for the past several years has downsized and no longer offers that service. We asked friends who they used to service their pools and we received an enthusiastic recommendation for Carolina Pool King. They were out at our pool within a few days and had the pool completely clean and ready for inspection WEEKS more rapidly than any other pool company I've ever used. Although they weren't the least expensive, they ABSOLUTELY are the best pool company we've ever used. We no longer have a pool, but without reservation I will recommend Carolina Pool King to anyone in need of a company to service their swimming pool.

+ -1 moreWhen all was said and done they were great. Work was great and the price was reasonable. Only issue is the first person they sent had no idea what to do, a shoulder shrug and basically left it up to us to troubleshoot but they STILL CHARGED us for the visit even though absolutely no value was provided. Not great. We gave them the work ultimately and it would have been nice if we could have been credited a little since there was no benefit to us from the first visit at all.
Description of Work: Troubleshooting a leak on our pump.

Description of Work: I could not get the water to clear up after opening the pool this spring. After 6 weeks of doing what Leslie's and then Oasis said would clear it, and spending a bundle of money, the water was still very cloudy. I've maintained my own pool for over 20 years, but I had run out of ideas, so I picked Carolina Pool King, the first of 3 I called from Angie's List. They first tried over-shocking and a floc treatment, which helped a great deal, but we still couldn't see the bottom. Jeff King then came to see it and, after consulting with others, said the only thing they could think of was changing the filter sand (even though it had been changed by Leslie's 1 1/2 years ago). They discovered that the sand had solidified so it wasn't filtering, and that there was only half the quantity of sand that should have been there. A day after the sand was changed, I backwashed the filter and the effluent was white mud! Within a few days, the water was clear. Finally, after 2 months, we were able to use the pool! |I now have weekly maintenance from Carolina Pool King [getting lazy in my old age :-)] Derrick is very good natured about working in the heat, and always lets me know what he has done, what needed to be added to the water, etc.

+ -1 moreThis company was referred to me by hayward to fix their equipment under warranty. I left a couple of messages in a thee day span with this company and they did not return my calls. When i finally got hold of them, they sad they would schedule me in and call me back. No one called me back. I left a couple more voice mails and used their online support page to leave a note. Once again no response. I called hayward and they provided me a new company. I have since called them and they were very responsive in answering the phone and setting up an appointment.
Description of Work: Was unable to get this company to fix hayward pool equipment under warranty.

+ -1 moreAlan came out that morning and resolved the issue. He also notice two items that also needed to be repaired but would have to wait for a warmed day. Jim and Alan were nice and explained everything to me. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I had ice on my pool and the filter would not turn on. It was 7 degrees that morning and I was concerned the pipes had frozen.

+ -1 moreJim and his crew were the ONLY Angies List pool provider to come out and help us open and enjoy our pool. I called at least 10 other recommended vendors and either folks were no shows or they refused to help us out with an above ground pool. Jim's group has done a good job, communicated well, and because of their help, I will use them when I move into my new house this fall. Thanks Jim and Kat!

+ -1 moreOverall experience was pleasant and we would highly recommend Carolina Pool King.
Description of Work: We have a gunite pool that was installed by Anthony Sillvan in 1998. The tile's had begun to fall off and several components of the operating system were beginning to fail. The estimate received was originally around $9,000 to perform extensive work with the tiles, plaster and operating system. We decided to break the job into two functions; 1) replaced the DE filter, added an overflow line, redid the caulking around the coping, added an automatic chlorinator (this work was completed on 6/8/2011); 2) next year we plan to have Carolina Pool King come back to replace the tile and plaster (the more expensive of the repairs). Jim and Chris were very professional. The work was first class and the field crews cleaned the area when finished. We are happy to have the pool in excellent operating condition and looking forward to updating the appearance.

+ 0 moreAfter several months of design and shopping for contractors we found Jim King from our next door neighbor who was having a complete refurb of their pool and deck. We liked Carolina Pool King since he was one of the only contractors that did the hardscape as well as the pool itself. He was very good to work with. Everything didn't go perfectly but he always made it right without a hassle. It has been a few months since it has been finished and he still services the system propmtly when needed.

+ -1 moreExcellent work. I emailed Jim (my preferred method of contact) asking if he could come out and estimate. He was prompt with his response, and made arrangements to come out within a few days. I had 3 other companies estimating also. Jim was the only one who provided a written estimate, with a detailed breakdown of charges. It was very thorough. He provided the best value for what I wanted to do for my pool. He continued to be responsive throughout the process. His work was excellent, and I'm very satisfied with the results. Also, his crew was very neat while on my property, taking care not to damage my flower beds and grass. He also arranged for water delivery for me, when I forgot and got too busy to take care of that little detail.
Description of Work: I hired Carolina Pool and Masonry to resurface my pool. I had them quote both a regular plaster finish and a Pebble Tec finish.
