We saw the commercial for Jacuzzi Bath remodeling. We wanted the bathtub taken out and a shower stall installed. When I called the number provided, I was connected with Carolina Home Remodeling. I was familiar with this business as they installed the sunroom that was added to our home in 2008. It took 6-7 weeks for them to schedule the install in October. The install is horrible. The walls are not plum and the installer added a 2x4 to one wall that was far beyond the existing wall. The painter had to come out a second time as the walls where he muddled the seams were very rough, he told us that the initial installer installed the 2x4 improperly, when the installer came out a 2nd time, he argued with us that it was not his fault and denied that he had installed the 2x4 and did not fix the problem. The company sent a technician out. He said the original walls were the problem. We are still waiting 2mo later for resolution. Filing a BBB complaint. Not happy at all.

We had a walk-in shower replaced in July 2022. The company prides itself on excellent customer service, which was very evident from the estimate process through the installation. The company called and emailed repeatedly following the installation, asking for a review. I originally gave them a 5 star rating when they asked for a response upon completion, completely based on the positive and professional attitudes of everyone we dealt with. When they again requested a more detailed review, I sent an email outlining our concerns as they requested an opportunity to address any issues before posting publicly. I sent a lengthy description of our concerns, as follows, and we have never heard from the company in response. - The design consultant that we met with repeatedly discussed the aspect of being able to age in place, the best design for seat placement for safety and maneuvering, as well as the importance of a grab bar. Unfortunately, the material used renders the shower floor as a serious fall risk. Just stepping into the unit is treacherous. Any person would have difficulty staying upright, much less anyone with stability or balance issues. This is a serious design flaw and is nothing that we expected. - As above, as the corner seat is made from the same material, so it too becomes very slippery and difficult to use as a seat. Additionally, the seat was installed so that the water pools on top, thus creating a cleaning issue. - We originally planned a shower door installation for the new unit. When we met with the design consultant on 5/19, he told us that due to manufacturing/shipping concerns there would be no way to predict when we could get one, only delaying the installation. He suggested going with a curtain rod, and then contracting with someone else for the shower door installation at another time. As I read the reviews, I see that others did have shower doors installed in July. I’d like an explanation of why we were deterred from getting one. - Finally, with regard to the shower curtain rod – at the end of the day the installer asked me to come and tell him where I wanted the rod placed. A standard curtain is 72”, so therefore, why wouldn’t the installer know to put the rod where it needed to be for a 72” curtain? Instead, both he and his assistant were standing inside the shower trying to hold and mark where I was telling him it should go. I had a curtain ready, so we quickly put it on the rod. I certainly couldn’t be inside the shower with the two of them as they were maneuvering the rod and curtain, so I asked if the bottom of the curtain was touching the shower floor and the assistant said yes. The curtain ends up being approximately 1” past the lip of the shower, so we must be very careful to not let the shower head spray the curtain or it will push it out and over the lip, letting water spray on the floor. I will also say that the rod was not installed level, so one end is even higher than the other. We paid a total of $13,176.00 for this job. We have given this company an opportunity to respond. I don’t expect that we will ever hear from the company in response to these issues, but it is important for others that are considering this work to be aware of the details that need to be dealt with.

My husband and I are extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with this company. First they use all subcontractors, which is not what the salesman said. Their cost is not worth the finished product at all. We never heard from anyone for 2 months about an install date so I had to reach out. Our bathroom is left incomplete with no idea when it'll be done. No one will answer phones or give us answers. One contractor charged us more money (made us write him a check) while he was here or else he wouldn't do the job. Shower, faucet, shower heads are not even siliconed at all and pulls right away from the wall, no shower doors have been installed, and don't know when they will be installed over a week later. First contractor came into my office while I was in a meeting demanding I sign his papers so he'd get paid. I had no idea what I was looking at or looking for in reviewing the completeness of his work, and he wouldn't wait for my husband to review his work. So, so unprofessional.

Needed to add a walk-in tub to a new home we purchased. We wanted to be able to accommodate older family members that come to visit. The sales sales process was very thorough. Ryan answered all of our questions and was able to give us a price right on the spot. The installation was seamless and they did a great job cleaning up. Overall we are very happy with our decision.

Stay away from Carolina Home Remodeling. If I could give lower than one star then I would. We ran across them at the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte this past November. We knew would wanted to have some work done to our master bath so we let them come out and give us a quote. The salesman was nice enough but the price was much more than we would have ever though the amount of work we were having done would cost. We decided to go through with it anyway, though. They said they would call to schedule an install time once the materials came in. The person we spoke to for scheduling said that it would take 2-3 days to complete the job, and that it wouldn't be a problem to begin the job on a Saturday and return on Monday to finish. In the event that they did not finish they would return that next Saturday and we would be done. Here is where everything goes wrong and shows how poor quality of a company you will be dealing with. One installer guy shows up on the first Saturday. He quickly cuts out and removes the old shower. But then he spends a long time on the phone. Come to find out that he didn't verify that all of the materials were correct before he removed the old shower. The shower pan has to be reordered because it is wrong. Then before leaving he asks if he can leave the materials that he did have with him in the garage. That is not unreasonable, but it is a bit unreasonable to leave said materials laying in the floor of the garage where there will obviously be a car parked again later. Luckily there was very little damage to the edges of a couple of pieces when they were ran over due to not being able to be seen while someone is pulling into the garage. He also left the old shower he cut out just laying out around the corner from the garage. Do they not clean up after themselves at the end of each day when on a job?? Also, we had to call and find out what was going on because that information was not passed along to us. The pan is reordered but will take several days to come in. We did take the opportunity to change the color of the shower walls during this time. We were already going to be without the shower for a week it seemed so why not just go ahead a take one more week to have something we thought would look better. We wait for the materials to come in and reschedule the install time. But now apparently there isn't anyone available to work on Saturday installs so we have to split it up over the course of two Mondays.....so we thought. A different install team (two people this time) show up last Monday to begin the install. They get the rough in work finished over the first day. We are at least glad that it appears we will have our shower back after the next Monday (today) after being without it for a month. But now we come to find out that they have to measure for the door glass to be cut after the walls of the shower are installed, and that it will take 7-10 business days for the door to come in. So it is going to be at least another two weeks before our shower will be completed after the job was started on Jan. 5. We were never told about the door needing to be ordered and that it would take so long to come in. We were only told 2-3 days installation time. They neglected to tell us there would be an almost two week pause in the middle of the job just for the door. We took a look at the wall material that was left in the garage after this fiasco started and it doesn't at all feel like the quality of material that we were shown during the quoting. We are supposed to be getting $1000 off the total cost of the job because of the way they have mishandled it, but that was before the whole door situation came up. I would never recommend this company to anyone for any work that needs to be done around their home. I feel they have poor management, lack of communication, and what I feel is misrepresentation about the quality of materials. Stay away from these people.

Overall project I would rate them "B". Two people installed it and four windows installed. They did a great job with the exception of they ruined some of the drywall around the window. I had to contact them. But I think it was because of the original structure of the house that caused the problem. The price is little higher than I thought. The quality of the window is very good. The installers were very professional and I would give them A+.

The service was excellent. The sales representative, Sam Rawluszki, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. Norm, the project manager, kept us informed as to when the windows would be delivered and installed. Joey Hayden, of Hayden Home Improvements, who installed the windows was efficient, courteous and always prompt and called prior to coming to install the windows. The finished windows looked great.

They were here for a couple of days doing the work, and then they had to come back twice more. Once was to take the locks apart because we wanted special digital locks on our front and back doors, but they didn't bring them the first time. And the other time they came back was to put new full sized screens in because they originally included half screens. The workers should've known at least the bare essentials when they came, because my wife and I had to figure it out on our own because they lost the manuals with directions that come with the locks.
Description of Work: We had a new steel front and back door, and two storm doors put in, screens, and three windows (two big sliding glass windows). We also had digital locks on the front and back door.

We had Carolina Home Remodeling come out to provide us with a quote to replace our windows. The quote process took longer than expected, which both my wife and I then had to leave for previous engagements. The entire sales pitch was performed, except for the fact that we were never given a quote for the costs of the window replacement. I asked them to follow up with me the next day on the window costs, and they never did. When they finally called me back two weeks later, they told me that they needed to give me the quote face to face. I told them that all I needed was the costs, and any other relevant information, and there was no need for a second face to face. (Another face to face would just be a waste of both of parties time). They told me that they would not give me the quote without the second face to face. The communication from them felt pretty shady, and my feeling was that they wanted the face to face just to do the "hard sell" and try and close the deal immediately. I told them that I was interested in their product, but also wanted to get a couple of other quotes. I asked to speak to a manager who has not returned my calls (Mike @ extension 16). It has been almost a month since the initial visit, and I have placed 3 calls into Mike and received no response. Please be wary of this company and their business practices. If they are this bad at getting the sale, imagine how they will be if something goes wrong during or after the window installation.

The gutters were too small and the gutter protection improperly installed. A number of corrections were made over many months at our insistence. Finally we contacted Angie's List and reported the continuing problems. At that point Carolina Home Remodeling contacted us and agreed to replace the installed gutter/protection with proper gutters and gutter protection. Unfortunately, the gutters do not withstand snow, ice, and heavy rain. The company has acknowledged that according to our contract they will correct any problems due to snow, ice, or rain. The company did replace the gutter system again in 2014 due to damage from snow and ice. This year we have again experienced gutter problems due to snow and ice. We have contacted the company and they have agreed to come examine the gutter system. Perhaps a better gutter/protection system needs to be installed to withstand inclement weather.

Stop harassing people. I know they didn't get a phone number from me visiting a website. The only thing I can figure is I may have dialed their number by mistake looking for a vendor to do cultured marble but I've never spoken to anybody there, gave my number or asked to be called. First time is a mistake. Second time is annoying. Third time is unacceptable. Fourth time is harassment.
Description of Work: I have no clue who these persons are. But they've called 4 times today saying I visited a website or something. I've politely and not so politely asked them to stop calling. Any company that uses these types of tactics to harass people I can't imagine would be good to deal with.

In a few words, it has been the most stressful for my 92 year old husband as well as myself. They seem to be the most unorganized organization I have ever dealt with, constantly asking me questions which they should have had instructions to prior to beginning the work, in my opinion. Please see No. 7 above for the story as I see it, but certainly, in my opinion NOT finished.
Description of Work: After 3 days of stating someone was coming to check the work, I had to call to say they were not here. The receptionist said she would call me right back. I later received a call from the man who installed the shower. After several "gonnas" he arrived on Friday December 12 2014 about 1:30 p.m. although he had stated he would definitely be here at 12 noon. He was here no more than 25 minutes. He went in the check the shower and got sprayed with water. He made some adjustments. I told him the shower was just as the plumber had left it and that we still had not even attempted to use it. He took pictures and tried to call the main office. He finally made contact and he said was told to make pictures. I asked him to make pictures of the commode also since the guys who did the measurements as to where the wall would be did not measure correctly. I am not as concerned about that as I am about the installation of the cheap shower head installed when I am supposed to have CHROME like the other in our home. I also told Richard, the installer that I still have not received the guarantee as I was told once I had paid the final payment. Which is another story. The salesman made quite a mistake. I paid $1,490.00 prior to service being begun. The salesman totaled the balance due on substantial completion as $13,411. I paid that as it was per the contract. They called to say I owned more, so I checked and discovered that the salesman had made a mistake. Being honest, I paid $784.00 more to make up for their mistake. A former tiled shower was completely removed after a later shower had been incorrectly installed INSIDE the tiled shower. They had been forewarned that I there was likely tiled walls because the persons who did the former work did not do what was contracted, but installed a small shower rather than one we could use. Richard built with what looked like, to me, 2x4s in the corner so the new shower could be installed. I seem to recall that Richard said they sent the incorrect bottom and another was gotten. There certainly appeared to be quite a lack of communication from the office to the man to do the building. Later he said that the shower head, etc.sent wasn't going to work so he went back to Charlotte and later installed the one that they gave him to install, however, it is NOT the chrome but a cheap one which was stopped up and broken before it could ever be used. It has been back and forth ever since and we still have not used the shower because I do not consider that they have installed what I contracted to have installed. Prior to all of that they were refusing to finish the outside of the shower. I confronted them about that since I had told the salesman that the walls should be WHITE. I did not consider the shower a finished product at all, no baseboard or shoemolding, etc. Eventually, they sent Richard back to put the baseboard and shoe molding, finish over the shower door and to paint the wall. By the time everything was finally done, except STILL NO SHOWER DOOR! My husband's bedroom was completely covered in dust. Finally, the shower door was installed. It appears to be done properly, but I am not an inspector. The City of Clinton asked me for their telephone number which I gave the person in charge since Carolina Home Remodeling was supposed to acquire a city license to perform work in the city. I do not know if this was ever paid.

We needed 10 windows and 2 doors replaced. We saw their person at Costco, and since we've been Costco members for years, we made a reservation. The person that came had a very used car salesman sense about him. I imagine he is selling top of the line, but he quoted us $25000 for this work. We thought this seemed ridiculously expensive. We ended up calling Window World and Siding after seeing Carolina Home Remodeling reviews on Angie's list, and they replaced our 10 windows, 3 doors not 2, and repairing a ton of wood rot/water damage for $15000. So glad we got a second quote.

Thank for your interest in our company. Thank you for allowing us to visit your home and give you a free estimate. We do have record of visiting your address in January of 2014. However we do not show a record for this address in April of 2014. Our product lines do include a much higher quality than some of our competitors. Since we were working with Costco, our company was offering the top of the line products as this program mandated. Our records indicate that a much lower price was estimated during the time of the visit. We do not have record of a $25,000 estimate. We are concerned with this difference. If you would like to call Beth Anderson at Carolina Home Remodeling, we would like to discuss the difference between the estimate you indicated and our records.

The morning the appointment was scheduled the rep called to report he had car trouble. Another rep was available that afternoon. When the salesman got there he started with the sales spiel about the company. I let him know we had already researched the company and didn't need all the fluff. It was a full 90 minutes before we got to the number, for the front door only.(We never even got to the sliding glass door price.) He started with a high number and then started the high pressure tactics. After the first bogus discount for saving them the advertising cost because we found them on the web I knew it was all downhill. He continued to offer additional discounts that of course were only good if we signed the contract immediately . The doors he presented appeared to be a quality product. I find it hard to believe there are still companies that operate with such high pressure tactics. The last straw was when I got a call the following week to let me know there was a rebate on the front door, but they wouldn't give me the price over the phone. I would have to agree to a second visit. Not a chance.

After he advised us of the windows and showed us the model window he wrote up a proposal price for the replacement windows. He provided several Programs of payments. The lowest offer was for that day only. We made another offer and advised that we are just now getting rates for windows. He became rather irritated with us and insisted we make a purchase that day or loose out on the amount he proposed.

We first found out about this company through the garden show, they had a demonstration set up for e-shield. They were offering free energy audits. We knew that our home was lacking some insulation, so we decided what the heck, it was free, and we wanted to see how bad the problem was. From the beginning of the process the professionals at Carolina Home Remodeling were courteous and attentive. Terry was amazing, he took the time to survey our property, evaluate, and explain everything. The day after The evaluation, a representative called to thank us for our purchase and to see if we needed anything else. We actually received a couple of phone calls to check on us before they scheduled the install. The day of the install the service arrived on time, were quick and courteous. After they were done, they walked me around and showed me everything they did, then they cleaned up and left. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

Carolina Home Remodeling came out and gave me an estimate but I did not purchase their product. The estimate was for a bathtub. They were going to install a new tub and surrounding and everything, the whole unit. The quote was extremely expensive. I don't have the numbers right now but it was quite a lot more than I anticipated. They came down quite a bit in the price. I said I just can't afford it right now at this point in time. I think they went down by half. They wanted me to finance it. I don't like to finance I like to pay cash. They were kind of a little pushy and they finally accepted the fact that I wasn't going to purchase the product right now. The guy was nice. He was polite. He showed me his product and showed me the various types of tubs I could have, the colors, the styles. That was all good. He was very polite. When I was adamant that I wasn't going to purchase he went on his way and was very polite about it which not everybody has been when I say no. I've got to give him credit for that. They came out to give the quote before Christmas around November. I would not use this provider in the future because it is too expensive.

Rep. came by took measurements quoted a high price used high pressure sales tactics didn't want to take no for an answer. Checked with Home Deport same item price was quoted at 96% less than this company. Decided to use a contractor of my choice and saved 90% of what was quoted by this company.

The very first day they laid the cement, the cement cracked. They did not put the rebarb needed for the cement. I personally contacted construction standards of Cabarrus county, which had no record of this project ever happening meaning they did pull the proper permit for this project. After the project was complete, their customer service offered me a years membership to Angies List so that I could GIVE THEM an A rating. I was SHOCKED. To this day I now have boards popping up on my front porch that I replaced myself. They NAILED the boards to the deck when they should have been SCREWED them. COMPLETE CROOKS. They pretended to not speak English, after I had full conversations in English with them. Even the engineering department head seemed to try and pull one over on me. This project has left me afraid to undertake other projects.
Description of Work: Hired to fix my front porch, which was made 80 years ago. These weer wooden front steps. They laid a concrete patio, and it was to be made so that I could build on top of it.

[removed member name], Thank you for posting on our Angie's List page. Our company has searched our records to find your information and we were unable to locate your name and/or address in our database. I also want to clarify that our company does not engage in work to repair front porches. I have notified Angie's List corporate office to help clarify this issue. We again thank you for your post and Angie's List will contact you to repost this under the proper company. Thank you.

Reps for the company couldn't have been nicer including the installer who was always prompt and very friendly. He always informed me of his progress and did an excellent job. I was a little leery of the final result, but it turned out great. I am extremely pleased with the result. It really is attractive and updated the the entire look of the bathroom.
