Excellent, above expectations! The entire process was smooth and easy. There was great communication and responsive from the beginning and even after the work was done. I had several questions about maintaining the floors afterwards and continued to receive quick responses and helpful advice. I found that their price was comparable to other quotes I received, plus they included movers. The movers were extremely careful and professional. Not having to worry about moving furniture made the project so much easier! I felt that the owner genuinely cared about the project going well and went above and beyond to make sure it did. The floors look beautiful and I would highly recommend Carefree Carpets!

$50 for a Flooring Design Consultation - offered only 1 selected carpet. They did not offer any other flooring suggestions or provide different carpets to pick from. I would not recommend this package, as it was nothing more than you would receive for free from any other company.
Description of Work: Paid Consultation includes measurements and price quote.
Spencer managed the job very well. He was very present and available, had good advice, and was attentive to problem solving any surprises that needed to be attended to in a timely way. He had very good teams for all the various jobs required (hardwood install, carpet install, custom runners, staing wood etc). It was completed in a very timely way and we are thrilled with the results. We definitely recommend them!
Description of Work: Removed old carpet from two connected staircases, upstairs main hall, 4 bedrooms and 1 bonus room. Stained remaining oak on stair cases, put prefinished hardwoods down on landing and upstairs hall and master bedroom. Installed new carpet in remainingrooms and master closet. Installed a runner on two staircases and down upstairs hall.

We choose Carefree Carpets to redo several areas of carpet in our home. Several team members helped us out. Robert came to our house and discussed our carpet needs and options, he measured our entire upstairs for installation of wall-to-wall carpeting. We then met with Spencer at the store to finalize our carpet choices. He helped us determine the appropriate type of carpeting for a runner as this was our first time installing one. Additionally we purchased two area rugs from Carefree. Mike installed our runner and did an amazing job. We are happy with all of the carpets in our house and the installation. We would work with Carefree Carpets for carpet needs in the future.
Description of Work: Carefree Carpets installed new wall-to-wall carpeting in our upstairs. They also installed a runner on our steps and two area rugs.

My initial consultation was with Wade. I was very knowledgeable and was able to give me some guidance when it came to my carpet selection. Wade called me during the installation process to see how things were going and of I was satisfied with the process. The team that installed the product - lead by Cary- were hard workers. The carpet was installed over a two day period. They were very respectful of my home. My only issue was that the installers were late arriving on both days of the install. Nothing major but punctuality is important to me.
Description of Work: I had new carpet installed in living room, dining room, 3 bedrooms, 2 hallways and a bonus room.

Ask for Spencer. He's part owner and he's very responsive with great communication. He made every thing well.
Description of Work: Measured, estimated and then installed carpet for whole house.
The salesman made many promises which could not be fulfilled by the installers. From saying the refrigerator would be moved prior to buffing / refinishing the kitchen floor to insisting we should have the ceilings painted prior to buffing the old floors so that any paint drops would be buffed out before new top coat applied. The refrigerator was never moved and the buffing did not make a difference...the floor was not even cleaned prior to the top coat application and dirt is now trapped underneath the coating. Perhaps there was a communication barrier among all the subcontractors involved and the salesman? He did come back so that I could point out areas that were a huge disappointment but even the new floor has huge gaps where it looks like a toddler tried to paint over the seams with mismatched wood filler. I am not talking about the deep scratches on the old floor from our dogs, this was brand new floor where the carpet was removed. The salesman and the wood sander/stainer foreman offered to re-do the hallway and entryway for a 'mere' $800 (and 4-5 days in and out of the house) extra but we honestly did not want these guys in our home with their cut-corners, subpar work.
Description of Work: Removed carpet in family room and replaced with wood planks which were stained/finished onsite. Buffed older wood floors in kitchen, hallway, and dining room and applied top coat.

Called to get a quote.? Rep came out at the agreed upon time. The rep brought couple of samples. However after 3 quotes the price was too high. The carpet might have been higher quality than the other companies we received quotes on, but this house was a rental (which was explained to the rep upfront). One thing that seem to always turn me off is the fact that the rep gave me the price and I had to ask for a written quote. The rep proceeded to hand write a generic quote on a scrape piece of paper.? - Not very professional. We have used them in the past and were happy with them but this time price dictated the sale.
Description of Work: Provide a quote for carpeting.
very polite and friendly workers, experienced and thorough work. very helpful overall. salesperson also reviewed work and beginning and end of installation. he was very helpful and professional.

Management was professional but the the work crew was not. the tile job its' self was good but they were very messy and left somethings undone. a second crew had to come in make corrections. It took some extra time put the job was completed to our satisfaction.
Carefree Carpets did a wonderful job putting in my carpet. They're neat, clean and have a very positive attitude. I'm very pleased with their work. We left our home for five days. We went out of town and had them do the work then. When we came back, everything was done. They communicated with us. They put the furniture back. A lot of workers will not remove your furniture and put it back. You have to bring in someone to move your furniture or do it yourself. They did the whole downstairs and upstairs with carpet.
Description of Work: They put in new carpet and our hardwood floor.
The carpet install was perfect. Took about 2 days. No seems showing. Shaw carpet is great quality. The installers were professional, great attitudes. We could not be happier with the carpet. The hardwood flooring was installed perfectly in about 2 days. It looks better than expected. All rooms, even closets. Perfect quality. One warning, have a discussion about matching the white baseboard trim they install to what you have already. Our white base boards were a shade different than the installers'. Our overall experience with Carefree was good, and I recommend them to others.
Description of Work: New carpet all of upstairs, 8 rooms. Hardwood floors downstairs, all but kitchen. Old carpet removed.

We did not contract this job with Carefree Carpets based on price. We wanted to use a local business in the Mint Hill, NC area and used the ratings on Angie's List to narrow that search. Our greatest concern, as stated in person to the Carefree Carpets representative we spoke with, was that we did not want a crew of unknown and unskilled sub-contractors coming into our home to do the job. We were assured that the crew that was coming to our home had been working for Carefree Carpets for fifteen years. We chose carpet and vinyl tile for installation in our home. We were satisfied with the customer service we received in the choice of products and the contracting of the job. We were initially told to expect the job to take two to three days. I was home for the first day of work. The crew arrived on time on the day that they were scheduled to come. They arrived at the job with the wrong type of pad for under the carpet. We chose to forego a delay in making the change to the pad we had ordered. They did not have a vacuum cleaner with them and asked to use ours. Several rooms were installed the first day with no apparent problems. My wife and I performed most of the furniture/home decor moving, which increased the pace of the job. We did this voluntarily. I was not home for the second day of work. My wife called me several times throughout the day to express concerns about how the work was progressing. Her main complaint was that the crew seemed to be in a rush to complete the job and to leave our home by 1:30 PM on only the second day of work (the job was supposed to take two to three days). Unfortunately, I was not able to go home to assess the work quality or progress that day. I have to say that I was shocked at what I found when I got home from work. The slogan for Carefree Carpets is, "Total Satisfaction. Nothing Less." To me that suggests that a company provides top-notch quality and service the first time around, not in having to come back to do work again that was done poorly the first time. This is a list of work that had to be done over: 1. The entire installation of quarter-round floor trim and portions of the contracted extra trim work in the kitchen was poorly done. Pieces of quarter-round were randomly placed and poorly attached. No caulk was used to fill nail holes or close angled-edge gaps. Large gaps and uneven edges were left in the extra trim work that was installed on the base of our kitchen cabinets. A huge gap was left under our back French door, where the old carpet was removed, and a sloppy job was done to cover this gap. This situation was not the responsibility of Carefree Carpet to repair, but they should have pointed out the need for some type of solution to this problem, rather than just attempting to cover it up. At one point, while our Carefree Carpets representative was at the job, the installation foreman stated that the trim work was beyond his capability and that they needed to bring in their "trim guy." This was not done. 2. There were abrupt slopes in the carpet where it met the vinyl tile in the kitchen and the walk-off placed at the back door. These were unsightly and would lead to premature carpet wear at these raised edges. Our Carefree Carpets representative pointed these out to the crew foreman while he was at the job. They were not fixed. 3. The metal strip placed between the carpet and the walk-off tile at the back door was roughly cut and uneven at one corner. The other corner was crudely bent and hammered to create a 90 degree rounded bend. 4. The corner of one piece of the vinyl tile in the kitchen did not adhere to the floor and was raised. 5. We were told that the vinyl tile would go completely under the stove. If my wife had not intervened, the tile would have only been placed part way under the stove. 6. My wife pointed out, to the crew, a gap in the newly installed carpet where it met the tile in our master bedroom. This was not corrected while they were at the job. 7. We found numerous places throughout our home where there were black marks on the walls and trim from tools and tool cords. In some places these marks were two feet off the floor. We had to paint over these ourselves. 8. We were told that the crew would leave us two pieces of vinyl tile as extra for future repairs, if necessary. This was not done. 9. Overall, my wife felt that her expressed concerns, on the second day of work, were rudely dismissed by the very unprofessional foreman of the installation crew. I called our representative at Carefree Carpets and arranged to have him come over to review our concerns. He seemed to be genuinely apologetic for the overall lack of quality in the installation job and for the demeanor of the crew foreman. We told him that we did not want the same foreman coming back to our home. He assured us that all issues would be addressed and repaired by Mike, their "go-to" guy for such issues. Mike was able to come over two days before scheduled since I was off work. He arrived promptly with our Carefree Carpets representative. We reviewed all areas of concern. I stated that we were willing to pay an additional fee to resolve the gap issue at the back door, if necessary. Mike did a meticulous job addressing all issues, including the gap under the back door at no extra charge. However, we have noted, after-the-fact, that the long edge of the tile walk-off at the back door is curved, not straight. In summary, we were greatly disappointed in the overall process, although we are now very pleased with our new flooring. We feel that we should have received the quality of the finished job the first time around. The overall job cost was adjusted to reflect the difference in the cost of the padding put down versus the padding ordered. After two reminders, we received the extra vinyl tile pieces. We we promised, on two occasions, two 32" x 26" bound area rugs for high-traffic areas, at no extra charge. We have never received those. From my own review of Angie's List postings, I have always wondered about the odd bad review that is shown for companies that have overall excellent ratings. The company rebuttal usually implies some misrepresentation of the facts on the part of the displeased customer. For my part, I have presented the facts of this job and have left out any supposition on my part.
Description of Work: We contracted to have Carefree Carpets replace all of the carpet and the kitchen flooring in our home. They were also contracted to replace some of the floor trim work in our kitchen.

Description of Work: We just dealt with Carefree Carpets. We had a large area re-carpeted. We have used them before.
The owners, Jim and Ann Henderson, were wonderful to work with and provide great service.? After my initial call, Jim came over within a day or two and provided an estimate.? He helped me figure out what exactly I wanted, and left samples for me to think about.? I wanted to move quickly, so he was able to work the schedule to get his workers there within a couple of days, as well as priority rush the wood order.? Alvin was the foreman of the installation crew and he was also great to work with.? All of the guys were friendly and professional, and I really got the feeling that their work product was a top priority for them.?They took their time to make things perfect but also finished in a timely manner - even working through the weekend to make sure everything was completed and cleaned up.? The result is amazing - I absolutely LOVE our new floors and only wish I had made the change years earlier.? Carefree Carpets provided excellent customer service and workmanship at a fair price and I wholeheartedly recommend them!
Description of Work: Removal of old carpeting and installation of new hardwood floors in 4 bedrooms and the upstairs hallway. Also took worn carpeting off the stairs and replaced it with repurposed carpet that had been taken out upstairs.
They did a good job.? They were prompt.? I liked that they gave a personal service, and that they were able to come to our home for the estimate.? They had samples for us to choose from, which was nice.? I have used them in the past, and they have always done a good job.

We hired a general contractor to remodel our entire house. ?This is the contractor he used for this work. ?They did an?excellent?job transitioning the new hardwood floor in the closet with the hardwood floor in the bedroom. ?You can't tell that the wood flooring was put down at different times. ?They did an?excellent?job refinishing the existing hardwood floors and were even able to fix a spot where someone had by accident put a gash in the floor with a saw blade. ?You can't tell this ever happened. ?They had to come back and repair a few spots where other contractors walked across the floor before it was ready for foot traffic. ?These contractors were not supposed to be there when they showed up. ?But all this was fixed easily and you can't tell it ever happened. A few weeks after we moved back in the gash in the wood floor where it had to be repaired from the saw blade became?noticeable. ?Whatever method they used to repair it was not a permanent fix. ?While overall I am still happy with their overall workmanship I would not?recommend?allowing them to fix damaged spots in wood floor. ?I would?recommend?having them replace the entire board itself.

We priced hardwood floors from the Home Depot, Lowe's and Lumber Liquidators as well as one other small company. ?After sorting through the various options available from each, we chose Carefree Carpets as the company that offered the best combination of service and price. ?While we may have saved a few dollars elsewhere, it wasn't worth the additional effort we would have had to experience to save a minor amount of money. ?Plus we wanted to use a small local business to keep the money in our community. ?Carefree offered an excellent selection of solid hardwoods and were able to match our existing floors so that the transition was nearly invisible. The installers arrived promptly and were obviously experienced and took pride in their work. ?They removed furniture from the room carefully and installed the proper room transition pieces as we wanted. This work was done during the early summer. ?Once cold weather arrived, we had one area that needed to be addressed. ?The owner came out and discussed the solution, then sent the installer out to fix the problem. ?It was as painless as possible. ?I recommend them for any flooring needs.
