I was on vacation when I received a call from the Black Pest Rep who was at my house to do the annual inspection and asked if I could come and let him into my house. There was no call ahead of time to tell me that he was coming (I was later told by a Customer Service Rep that they had sent me an e-mail to tell me that they were coming) I told him that I was on vacation and that I would not be able to come let him in. About a week later I was called by Black Pest Control to set up a time to do the inside pest inspection. Not surprisingly, the times that I was offered seemed to be more about the convenience of Black Pest Prevention and less about when it was convenient for the customer. Finally, I was able to find an available time that did not mean having to leave work and make the 30 minutes drive home to meet the Black Pest Rep. When the Rep came to my house he was right on time and very polite. He did his inspection (which consisted little more that walking around the perimeter of the inside of my house and looking for any evidence of pests that he could see with the naked eye) in about 15 minutes. About a month later I received a call from Black Pest Prevention telling me that my payment was late. I told them that I had not received an invoice and that could they please send it to me in the mail. The Black Pest Prevention Rep said that the invoice had been e-mailed to me annd that it was very important that I made the payment as soon as possible. She told me that she would e-mail me the invoice and that I needed to send it in as soon as possible. (the invoice was for $27 so I guess Black Pest Prevention must be pretty hard up) I then asked to speak to a customer service manager who was very nice and he listened to my dissatisfaction with the customer service that I received with Black Pest Prevention. I also asked that I NOT be sent any future invoices by e-mail, Last week (6/12/2013) I received a call from Black Pest Prevention telling me that I was late with my payment.I again asked that an invoice be sent by mail. This Black Pest Prevention Rep was very nice and she apologized and said that she would send it out right away. Two days later (6/14/13) I received the invoice and it was in the mail back to them today (6/17/13). This afternoon (6/17/13) I received yet ANOTHER call from Black Prevention asking me about the payment. I have gone through all of my e-mails (including my SPAM) and cannot find an emial from Black Pest Prevention. I sure hope that Black Pest Prevention is better at preventing pests than they are with customer service. They seem very good at calling me when they are looking for money but seem to prefer less certain means of communication when it suits them.

We are a little confused as to why the customer is upset with us. Below is a cut and paste showing the chronological sequence of events. The customer only complained after we contacted him on May 15 because he was 3 months behind in payments. We spoke with the customer on April 18 to set up follow up inspection and did, setting it at the customer's request for April 29th.He made no complaint at all then. Our policy is we do not service anyone if they have an outstanding balance. Because he was a long term customer, we serviced his home even though he was behind in his payments. We verified we had the correct email address. We spoke with him on the May 15, left phone messages on May 21, May 30, and June 3. We spoke with customer on Jun 12 and he said would pay when he received a statement. We emailed the customer on May 21 as well about the balance. Statements were emailed on March 8th, April 10th and May 10th. Copies of the invoices were emailed to him as well on May 15th. The customer brought the account current on June 19th. We sincerely apologize if there was any misunderstanding. We thought we were being very clear what the issues were and we were being very diligent in making sure the work got done even though the customer was behind in payments. The inside portion of the inspection only requires a few minutes with the outside taking a good bit longer and the outside portion of the inspection was performed on April 10th. Normal procedure after 3 months of non-payment is to cancel the account and turn the account over to collections. Since this customer had been with us since 2006 were hesitant to do that and continued to work with him ourselves. I have been a client with Blackpest Prevention since they came into the Charleston Market. I was pleased with their quarterly pest control service and the personnell that came out to my home to perform the work. I am very dissapointed with how Blackpest handled their termite bond when we tried selling our home. Blackpest Prevention took ownership of our Termite Bond when they bought out Willard Termite & Pest Control, who performed the initial termite treatment on my home. I paid Blackpest Prevention the $225.00 to renew my termite bond and keep it up to date. When it came time to sell my home, only a few months later, the inspector noticed "active termites" and advised us to get it retreated. When I called Blackpest to come take a look at the affected area, I was referred to their local sales manager who refused to "get involved" because they didn't want any "legal problems". After many phone calls I was finally able to get the sales manager out to the house to inspect. He inspected the area and told me there were no problems. This was great news and all I needed was his assessment in written form so I can hand in with the termite bond at closing. The Sales Manager refused to give me any written document to hand in. He again said that they did not want to get into any "legal problems" and would not do anything more to help. On one hand, I have a formal state document stating that my home has active termites, in the other I have a termite bond through Blackpest who refused to say otherwise. All I asked for was a document stating that they reviewed the problems and found no "active termites". They refused to do so and made selling my home extremely difficult.
Description of Work: Blackpest Prevention was hired to perform quarterly pest control treatments and to uphold an annual termite bond. The quarterly pest control was scheduled via email (I appreciated) and the technicians would come when I was at work to treat around the exterior perimeter of the home. On an annual basis, the technician's would look for new termite activity and treat accordingly.

This customer was selling their home and used a pest company recommended by their realtor to perform an inspection and issue an official South Carolina Wood Infestation Report, a legal document required for closing. This company issued this report stating there was termite evidence in their home with no prior signs of treatment. The customer contacted us on September 10, 2012 and said they had termite damage.We immediately sent the Charleston Service Center Manager to their home and he could find no active termites and there was obvious evidence of prior treatment. We requested a copy of the other companies report and treatment graph on September 13th and again on September 14th and never received either. They then asked us to issue a conflicting report stating there were no live termites, that there was evidence of an old infestation and signs of prior treatment which would have created two conflicting legal documents. We requested that a representative from the other company meet us at their home to point out exactly where they found evidence of live termites, termite damage and no evdidence of previous treatment in the remote chance we missed something.They refused to meet with us. We then recommeded an inspector from The Department of South Carolina Pesticide Regulation inspect their home. They were not called. The other company ended up amending their official South Carolina Wood Infestation Report. Had there been live termites, we would have promptly treated the property and issued an official South Carolina Wood Infestation Report stating that there were live termites and we had treated the home.

Black Pest Prevention Inc were real good. They came out and stayed here quite late to get it all done. There was two guys, one of them went beyond and made sure everything was put back nice. He took a little bit more care than the other one. But they both worked well, and it was dark when they were finishing up. I called them they day they were supposed to come out and they worked with me on the time they would start.

We've been really happy with Black Pest Prevention. They come out anytime there's any issues like during the change of seasons and there are extra bugs or whatever. We had a problem inside the house with some moths and they were constantly here to remedy the problem.

Great, like I said they were easy and quick.

We've used them for several years. The price takes care of the yard, in-house when we need them and the garage. We have three cats and whatever they use for the indoor has been terrific. We don't know about the outdoor part because we are not involved with it. We are very happy with them.

When we call them back, they don’t charge us as its part of the annual contract. One thing I like about them is that we work with the same guy. I have had other pest control companies where I get a different person and each time they send someone else. The last three times they have sent the same guy. I am familiar with him and he is familiar with me. He came and did his treatment. I talked to him because I was in the process of pressure cleaning the house, and I said that I am concerned that when I pressure clean the rest of the house, I am going to wash way the chemicals for the spiders on the parts that he has treated. He told me no problem and that if I see those spiders in ten days, I can call them and they will come back and treat it. I like the fact that they send someone consistently, and anytime I call them they will send someone else.
Description of Work: We use Black Pest Prevention Inc for pest control services. The last time they came here was for a call back for spiders. We have a contract with them where they come quarterly. But they will come back anytime we call them back.

They do a quarterly service at my home. I had used their services for the last four years. They are punctual and efficient in service. Their quality is excellent. They do a good job. They usually send the same person for doing the job. I pay $ 100 a quarter.

They seem okay. I have had them for years and they always come and inspect and go around the house and knock on the baseboards and stuff. This whole thing with the termites, I was paying $180 for the termite insurance but they told me that because of the age, it was going on 15 years, that the price was going up. It was do reapply the preventative termite stuff or don't do it at all. At least for this year, I think they are okay. I haven't had a problem so I don't know how they would react to a problem. Other than normal inspections and stuff, I haven't had a problem so to speak. They call me about the inspection and come out pretty fast so I would give them an A on responsiveness. They are here on time. I will continue to use them right now.
Description of Work: Black Pest Prevention they came for a preventative termite treatment. It was $200.00 but I had to purchase termite insurance through them for at least a year which costs $500.00 in order to get that price.

They are very good to work with. If I have any issues, there is no complaints if I have to call them back during that time. I work for the Charlotte Observer and they work with Black Pest Control too. One time we had a mouse run over my computer. When the man rang the doorbell, I just dragged him in. They are really good about coming in immediately if you have any kind of issues. I have never had an issue with them at all. My fee did not go up for years and I have been using them for more than 10 years. For pricing, I would have to give them an A because my daughter doesn't use Black and she has an ant problem and she pays more than I do. For quality, I would have to give them an A too because I don't have any bugs. They are always here, usually, earlier than they say they are coming.
