From the outset they were professional, patient, knowledgeable and dedicated. As an owner of numerous properties in the past including rental properties I have dealt with many real estate agents and I found Beth and Julie to be the best.. They were able to sell our house at a good price and guide us to a new property that exactly fit our needs in a reasonable time. They provided timely and effective open houses, displayed quality photographs of our property and understood our desires in a new home to be able to identify one in short order. My wife and I were leaving Charlotte after 8 years, and with the ups and downs of the market, we weren't really sure what to expect. Plus, we were selling a house we had remodeled together, so it had a lot of emotional attachment to us. We didn't want this to just be another transaction for someone. This was the home where we got married and started our family. It deserved more. So, we set up interviews with several of the top Angie's List realtors, but after meeting Beth, we knew no one else had a chance! She has this demeanor that made us feel like everything was going to be alright. We can be a bit...anxious. But, it was clear from the get go that Beth was completely on top of everything. The first thing that impressed us about Beth was that she had an actual game plan. Most realtors we met spoke in generalities or gave us the same boring list of things that they do to sell a home. Not Beth. We felt like she treated every home sale as unique, which of course it is. She wasn't going to do a bunch of bogus open houses and have tons of looky-loos walking through our house. She wanted to find a few very motivated buyers and get this sold. We really appreciated her more targeted approach. Her first step was to get a stager to give us a consultation (for free), who gave us a to-do list of small changes to make to prep the house for sale. Then, Beth got to work figuring out the sales price. She came back to us with a few different options on a strategy, and we opted to price fairly (not high or low). Then, she started getting on the phone with realtors she knows (she knows everyone), and before we knew it, we had people begging to get into our house to take a look. We first opened our house to showings on Saturday and on Sunday we already had two offers for $14,000 more than our asking price! Unlike other realtors who go for volume, Beth found us people who were ready to buy, looking for a house just like ours, and pre-approved. In the end, we made a lot more money on our house than we expected. The buyers we chose were a bit difficult to work with. They had TONS of people come through the house for inspections (it is an old house, but they took it to an extreme), and that led to some painful negotiations. Initially, Beth had us work with her closing coordinator, but when she saw that we were getting anxious, she quickly stepped in and put the buyers in their place. It feels SO GOOD to feel like you have someone 100% on your side. I know everyone says that about your realtor, but Beth takes it to another level. In the end, she got us through the whole thing, being part bulldog negotiator and part therapist for us. We can't recommend Beth highly enough. Do yourself a favor and just meet her. You'll fall in love with her like we did! :)

Julie was very professional through out the entire process. She listened to what I wanted and delivered. She stayed with me through the whole home buying process to include going to closing with me. She addressed all my concerns and fought for what I wanted. I worked with Julie for about a year to find the right house even after putting in a couple of offers and setbacks. She was readily available and returned phone calls and emails back promptly. There were times she advised me putting my interest first and not her own. Thank you for your support. Beth and Julie provide fanatical customer service and are incredibly great to work with when buying or selling a house. Beth was our buyer's agent on our first house in Charlotte and was extremely patient and thurough during our home search. Five years later we outgrew our first home and enlisted Beth's help again searching for our next house to grow our family. Beth was extremely patient with us over a 5 month search to find the "perfect" location and house (coincedentally we fell in love with one of her listings). Julie was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I (Richard speaking) were buying our very first home, and had no idea of the process or what sort of things to expect along the way. Julie not only explained everything to us in a very easy to understand way, she also made sure we were comfortable with every step. She went out of her way to meet us when it was convenient for our schedules, and she was not only very professional, but also very pleasant to work with (always smiling and encouraging). She knew what things to avoid and to look for, and her advice was really valuable. You can tell that she loves what she does and that she is good at what she does. Beth got all our paperwork in order and even sent us items for electronic signatures which was very time-saving. We closed on time and everything was great! Beth Smith-Shuey is an exceptional agent. She is professional, responsive, and eager to do all she can for you. Beth marketed and listed our home, and we had multiple showings per week. We got an offer on our home within six weeks. Beth is extremely knowledgeable and fair, and she puts her clients' best interest first. Beth was very professional sounding in the beginning, but as time passed, things went from good to bad. When a phone call would've been more appropriate, she'd send an email at night or I'd have to call her to find out what was happening. There was very little communication the closer we got to the final sale and sometimes the communication received was, "everybody does that." Since I don't sell a house very often, I wasn't aware of what everybody does and mistakes were made. Beth was given power of attorney to handle the closing, but she didn't followup until several hours after I called to find out if it actually happened. Due to other issues beyond my control I wasn't certain there would be a closing. I had provided the mailing address for the check both in person and via email, but she hadn't given that to the attorney because she "didn't have it." I had to give it to her again when she finally returned my call after the closing. Although not directly her fault, the home warranty purchased did not cover all the costs to repair the HVAC system as claimed. The warranty cost $400. The charge for a repair person to come out was $75 and that was supposed to cover the repair. The repair cost an additional $692. All in all, it was a frustrating experience.

We really think Beth deserves an A+, but the highest score Angies List provides is A. We had to sell our home as soon as possible. We had some known repair issues. Our home, we knew, needed setup for showing. There were a lot of uncertainties. Beth guided us smoothly through the process. She helped us to get our home into really stunning show-ready condition. We had 24 showings in the six weeks it took to get our first offer. Beth used just the right touch to help us sort out the offer and counter-offer situation. When it came to the inspection and repair request, her team provided us with a great general contractor who performed repairs at a good price and with skilled workers. The potential stress of the repair re-inspection and final steps to closing were handled in the best way, with just the right amount of hand holding. She even pitched in to cover costs of a grey area repair that we missed in the list. What is not to like? We highly recommend her if you are buying or selling in Charlotte.

After finding Beth's name through Angie's List, we contacted her for help in selling my mother's house in Barclay Downs. We were impressed with the favorable reports she'd received and found her personal website to be extremely informative and well organized. We set up an initial meeting which unfortunately had to be rescheduled due to a death in Beth's family. In the meantime, we received a solid offer on the property. Since we were unsure of whether to accept the offer or not, we went ahead and met with Beth as scheduled. She brought information on comparable sales in the area and, even though we told her we had received a bid, was very thorough in accessing the house, gave us lots of good advice, and later called us with more information to help us get the best price for the house. Even though we did not end up needing a listing agent, we would highly recommend Beth. She was personable, honest, knowledgeable and definitely went the extra mile for us. She's a gem!

She was very good about communication during the day, evenings and weekends. There is a constant email contact and phone calls and texts just to check and see where we were in the process. She came out and met with us twice. She was very thorough in how she did the appraisal and used computers in our neighborhood that came in pretty low from what we had expected. With issues she was just very honest and open about it.
