The service techs arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. They then said they needed to check water pressure as that may have caused the leak. He said the pressure was too high and I needed a pressure reducing valve. The quote was for $228 for the leak and around $950 for the valve. After gasping at the price, I paid the $57 trip fee and dismissed them. I then went to Home Depot and bought the part for $5. It took me literally less than a minute to replace the part! I'll get a second opinion on the valve.

The plumber came to assess the problem. He misrepresented the job as much more complex and involved than it really was. I was grossly overcharged for the work done, this was confirmed by my home owners insurance company. I will never use this company again. They were very dishonest.

They charged me $227.37 to tell me that it would cost me $575 to fix a leak. Would caution anyone using their services to ask how much they plan to charge. On a recent trip I was told of a $57 fee before hand. When they arrived the tech mentioned a diagnostic fee (which i assumed was the $57) and looked at the problem. AFTER he had looked at the problem I was presented papers saying there was an additional charge of $155 (to tell me there was a leak). To me that is just ripping people off. I was never told of that dollar amount until AFTER the tech looked at the problem. I called the General Manager Paul Stefano. He basically said I was a liar and that the tech told me it would be $155 BEFORE he looked at the problem. Why would I agree to pay someone $155 to tell me about a leak i knew about? I wasn't told about the fee until afterwards. He claimed the signed bill proves the tech told me about the fee BEFORE he diagnosed it, but that is not true. There is no time stamp to demonstrate that and again I wouldn't pay someone $155 to tell me there was a leak, I thought I was paying the $57 for that. I'm sure the work they do is decent, but my experience was not good. My conversation with Paul was very poor and would not expect that tone from a Manager of a Company.

They could coordinate because every different person that comes out here has something different to say. They all have a different story and the next one debunks the one that was here before.

We used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They gave an estimate to locate leak and break up floor half way across the room . Price was $3428.00, They also gave estimate to go all the way to utility room aprox. 25 feet for $4857.00. Then we get a visit from The . Leak Squad who says their to locate leak and bills us $195.00. Now the plumbers come and do their job, It ended up being about 11 feet. And then we get handed a bill for $4142.00, Total of $4337.00 I then mentioned that the concrete they poured was low in spots and high in others. Linoleum has to be laid back over this rough mess .The contract reads floor is to be poured back flush. I then called a representative and they said they would be back to fix problem . They have ignored me ever since. I suggest you steer clear of this company.

The original plumber correctly identified the problem and said the repair would be completed the next day. The repair person sent the next day made a repair of a section of piping that had no connection to the actual leak . It is irresponsible that the plumber did not test the drain line to make sure the leak was fixed. This repair was done at my mother's house. Unfortunately I was unable to be there when the work was done. When I came the next day to inspect the work it took me 5 minutes to determine that the work was improperly done. It took the next plumber only 30 minutes to repair the work that was done improperly by the first Benjamin plumber. Based on the work performed that I was able to witness, there was was an overcharge for services performed. Make sure you get a second estimate before you commit to the work.

Called provider to replace broken shower arm. I assumed it would be a fairly simple job for a plumbing tradesman. i was aware that the drywall in the adjoining room would have to be opened to allow the repair. What did surprise me was the cost.of $850 to make the repair. Seemed excessive for the time and materials required. The reposition of the shower lever was such that that the shower arm cover did not cover the opening..

see above I should have taken the time to call more than one plumber but was under a time constraint because I had company in the house during the holidays and needed hot water more urgently than usual. .
Description of Work: Ben Franklin Franchise ( Dan King Plumbing) came out to determine a significant drop in hot water pressure. They suggested we replace the water heater. I did not question this as the water heater was 9 years old. The installed price with a minimal 6 yr warranty was $1625. It appears they did a good job of the install. However, I called them in an emergency during the holidays. I did not have time to shop around. I have called around and got estimates for this water heater installation since that time and the other estimates have been in the area of $1000, not $1625. The main issue with this company I had after the water heater install, the technician showed my wife that the water pressure was too high ( around 95 PSI) and said that the water pressure control valve was going bad and needed replacement. The cost of replacement was $400. I had lived in the house for 4 years and if there was any issue with pressure was that the pressure was too low. Therefore, this did not feel right to me that the very day this technician did work in my house that the water pressure was all of a sudden too high and I began to have all the symptoms of high water pressure starting on that day... toilets running, toilets leaking etc. Bottomline, I had an Angie's List plumber come be and get a 2nd opinion and as I suspected there was nothing wrong with the solid brass water pressure control valve; the second plumber adjusted the valve back to normal water pressure, verified that I did not need the valve replaced, and I haven't had any issues with these high pressure symptoms in my house. IF the second plumber would have replaced the part, the price would have been MUCH less than the $400 quoted by Benjamin Franklin... about $260. Of course, this makes me wonder how the water pressure all of a sudden increased to 95 PSI on the day of the hot water heater installation by Benjamin Franklin???

We called them out because we had a toilet that would run, and they came out and did somethings, and he told us that if that didn't fix it, we would have to buy a new toilet. I went online about the flapper, and the problem, and I replaced it myself, and it is now fixed. Feeling like I am being taken, instead of being told that they don't have the part. They were very prompt and everything, but I wouldn't want to call them back, because I felt like I was scammed. They were prompt about making appointments made.
Description of Work: We used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They did drain cleaning and changed the flappers in the toilet.

They showed up to check out my problem that I originally called for and was told there were other problems wrong with my plumbing. They gave me a estimate for 20 times more then what I eventually paid. I would not recommend them to others.
