Didn't go well at all! Owner basically wanted to get paid but do nothing.
Description of Work: Needed to fix the hot tub main circuit. We agreed at $85 for him to check it out & see what needs to be done. He came to the house to check it. At first he refused to go into the crawl space & said he didn't have time for that. When I asked him what the purpose was for him to come to the house, he argued and finally went into the crawl space to look at it. He said he would look for the part & come back and install. It has been 2 months, I have called, emailed & texted- No response!!

This review is not a commentary on the quality of the company's work since we did not contract for services with them. Howerver I wanted to make members aware that the company does charge a fee for estimates. I contacted this company by phone regarding flexing in the floor of a fiberglass shower in our home. The floor also has a crack in it. The shower is over 3 years old and the manufacturer has denied warranty coverage. We were trying to determine the extent of the damage so that we could decide whether we wanted to repair the unit , get a new one or tile the shower. We were looking at several possibilities. I spoke with Jennifer Miller who was very nice on the phone. She explained what they do and gave a price range of $500-$800 to fix the unit depending on the extent of the damage. However, the company charges $75 just to come and inspect the unit. This fee is deducted from the final costs of the repair should you decide to have them do so. I felt this fee was more akin to a service charge and almost obligates you to have them do the repair or you will lose money that could be applied to the resolution of the issue should you opt to go with another company. There were no reviews of this company on Angie's List and I could find no reviews of the company on other websites. I just did not want to spend that kind of money for just an estimate without more information regarding the quality of their work. I understand that they have to send a technician out to look at the problem and that costs them money but I really felt $75 was too high. Perhaps a fee $25-$35 would be more reasonable? Ultimately, we found another company that had a good rating on the BBB and did free estimates. They quoted about the same price for the above repair but they were able to give us an assessment of the damages before we committed to repairing the unit.

Response from Bath Masters of The Carolinas
The member is correct in that our minimal charge is $75.00 to come to your house and assess the problem. If we are given the work then that cost is deducted. This charge was not put in place to make someone feel obligated to contract us to do the work, but more so that we are compensated for our time and gas. In some cases, we travel over an hour for an inspection. With today's economy and the rising cost of gas, we simply cannot afford to do free inspections any longer, which is what we used to do. Also, some inspections are more involved than others. We are a very small company. However, we have an infinite list of impeccable references. Had the member asked for a list of references I could/would have provided her with such including references from other homeowners, manufacturers, plumbers and builders. We do outstanding work...and we have the longest warranty. I deeply regret the member felt this way.

Mack diagnosed my problem and proposed a clear solution to fix it. I had to hire a plumber to remove the tub, and he was there to make sure it was done right. He ordered the parts, installed them, and tested the tub.
