Response from All About The Pipes Plumbing
A sink and faucet install only requires one man. The price we quoted the homeowner was based on him telling us that he had all the appropriate materials, faucet, sink etc. When scheduling the appointment, the homeowner stated that he would be installing the sink and countertop himself (to save money) and we would just be installing the faucet, waste and supplies. When Doug the service technician arrived, the homeowner asked us to install the sink and countertop in addition to the faucet, waste, supplies. Doug proceeded to do so. Once the countertop was placed, Doug recommended to the homeowner that he should have a backsplash installed to protect the walls from splashes. This was just a recommendation as we are a plumbing company not Tile work/Countertop company. As it turned out, the homeowner purchased some incorrect parts (the vessel sink was the wrong style for the drain assembly he purchased). In order to remedy the situation the homeowner asked that we go get the correct part for the sink. Doug proceeded to go to a number of plumbing supply houses (at no charge) for the correct drain assembly, unfortunately that drain assembly specific to his sink is special order. Doug informed the customer that he would either have to wait for the special order or purchase a different sink. The homeowner went the next day to return the sink and purchase a new one that would work for the drain assembly. Doug went back the next day to complete the job. The homeowner was made aware that there would be an added fee for coming back. The homeowner agreed. We charged him a trip fee. The customer stated he was satisfied and happy with the work and even provided Doug with coffee, tea and cookies.
