We arrived to our house Friday night after not having been there to over two weeks and found a basement room flooded and the ceiling collapsed. We then discovered the faucet of the jacussi tub in the master bath had been left dribbling for two weeks. The water dripping in the floor below stopped after we turned off the faucet. Since the tub did not leak and drained properly wihen filled we looked on Angies list and called "All about Pipes" on a Saturday. to find the source of the problem. A plumber came promptly and could not find any leaks. He suspected the problem was under the tub, where the hot and cold lines joined to flow out the faucet, thinging it might drip if a slow dribble pooled in the area, but did not leak when water flowed swiftly through. He said to find the problem the tub would have to be pulled and he needed two men to do that, so they would come back the next day and pull the tub. When the 2 men came to pull the tub, that plumber pressure tested the line below the tub and found no leaks. ( Why didn't the first plumber know it could be pressure tested). That plumber ignored the facts we told him about what we had found ( the tub dribble and the water that stopped when we turned the tub dirbble off.) and started investigating the shower ( a separate booth). He found some cracked caulking on the shower wall tiles in a corner and when the shower was turned full force on the wall, it cause a leak in the rrom below ( but the water wasn't coming from the same place in the ceiling that it had when we found the initial dribble. That plumber cut holes in the wall near the shower, not near the tub to see if the wall board was wet ( wallpapered and not damaged was yet), which it wasn't, That plumber left writing up that the damage was the shower tiles. After he left my husband and I said that his remedy just didn't make sense - the shower wasn't on, and there were no water stains on the wood beams below where he was able to create a leak. What he found might eventually cause a problem if not caulked, but wasw not the source of this problem. My husband and I turned the faucet on to a slow dribble like we had found and noticed the viscosity of the water cause a clinging to the facuet and the water dribbled backwwards on the faucet onto the rim of the tub and eventually the tile surrounding the tub when on a slow dribble, but on a fast flow there was no back-dribbling. Leaving the faucet in this dribble state for an hour, we recreated the drip in the ceiling below exsactly where it was coming from when we had first found the situation. There were a few tiles on the tob surface surrounding the tub that had cracks in the caulk. We called the plumber back to show him the problem ( and get him to change his report if it made a difference to insurance). To fix the problem, I suggested it could be fixed by caulking the tiles and around the faucet. He said one tile was too lose and recommended pulling the tub, replacing the faucet and all other hardware ( since he said that faucet had a history of leaking) and jets ( the jets worked perfectly) and having a tile person redo all the tile. ( I'm sure very expensive). Instead, after the wood was dried, I caulked the tiles and around the faucet myself for a few dollars. the plumbers were all punctual and curteous.
Description of Work: Called plumber to find and fix the cause of water damage, when bathtub faucet was accidentally left dripping for over 2 weeks and ceiling in floor below had collapsed with weight of water and destroyed carpet and contents of room below. Two different plumbers didn't identify the cause of the water getting to floor below. When husband and I then identified the cause of the problem, the plumber recommeded an extremely costly fix, which we did not do, but caulked the area ourselves.

Response from All About The Pipes Plumbing
Hello, I would like to clarify this posting: Damages to property were not caused by the work of All About the Pipes Plumbing, Inc. A family member left the faucet dripping for two weeks. All About the Pipes Plumbing, Inc. was contacted to locate the leak and recommend a fix for it. Initially, the plumber was unable to determine the cause of the leak. It was later determined that the faucet, when left dripping would leak back on itself which allowed water to leak down through the tub deck and tile. We also inspected the shower, which was determined to have some loose leaking tile. Our recommendation was to re grout or to replace the tile. As far as the faucet on the tub, we found that the model had been discontinued; therefore, if the faucet were to be replaced it would be necessary to pull the tub out. The customer decided not to replace the faucet.

Although there was a slight mixup with the scheduling, it was remedied quickly and a technician was dispatched immediately upon receiving my call. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. Paul was knowledgeable, extremely professional and respectful of both myself and my home - even going so far as to clean off my kitchen rug when the repair was completed. The sink now works better than it did when the builder handed the keys over almost 3 years ago. I will recommend this company to anyone that asks and I will certainly use them in future for all of my plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Service call to repair a backed up and leaking kitchen sink - the technician removed and replaced the leaking washers, determined cause of the broken part, performed a thorough pipe cleaning.

We were remodeling our second bathroom. While I can take care of minor plumbing issues, putting a new bathtup in is beyond my skills. We called 3 different plumbers to get an idea of time and cost. One never showed, the other showed up 5 hours late and never returned our estimate. All about the pipes showed up on time for the estimate, gave us a couple of ideas of what to do, and told us to go to a plumbing showroom to get an idea of what we wanted. They would take care of ordering, picking up the tub and the new hardware, and install. We had pulled out a one piece shower/bath combo, and the new bathtub was bigger than the old. They made all of the necessary changes to the fittings to get the tub in. They also did a fantastic job ensuring that the new pipe fittings were water tight and ready to go. A couple of weeks later, after we had completed the tiling, I was putting the last hardware items on the tub. I had problems trying to screw the spout onto the new pipe. I did some research, and found that a different pipe assembly was installed, not the one that supposedly came in the box. We called All About the Pipes about the pipe assembly. They told us that they installed what was in the box. But, what they did was take the extra step. They contacted the plumbing show room, got the proper pipe fitting, came back, removed the wrong one, and installed the proper one.

Dan and the folks at All About the Pipes are just great - they really understand how to do business, which I value. We're not sure exactly what caused my initial lack of hot water, but Dan did a thorough investigation of the unit (which is 17 years old) and found nothing wrong. I had plenty of hot water by the time he left and he even gave me a tip to leave my water heater blanket OFF in the summer months since it can cause my water heater to sweat!

When the plumber arrived and diagnosed the problem. He said the faucet required replacement due to the position of the leak. I requested replacement with a Moen and he checked with his supply company and said that the model in use was no longer manufactured but that the supply house had another one, a Moen, that was elegant and would fit. I informed him that I would accept it if it was a Moen. He picked up the faucet from the supply house and installed it and charged $411. The price was high but would be okay if the faucet had been a higher end Moen. I was on a call during the installation and did not have a chance to check the brand before he left. Once he left, i noticed that the faucet was not branded and definitely not a Moen. It was also very flimsy - not Moen quality. In addition, I looked for the original faucet after the plumber left and discovered that he had taken it with him. I now know that Moen has a lifetime warranty and I could have asked then to replace the faucet but I no longer have the original. Not a good experience with this one.
Description of Work: A plumber responded promptly and diagnosed the problem as a kitchen faucet that required replacement. The faucet that required replacement was a Moen and was dripping at the base. The faucet was replaced and the replacement was installed properly thereby correcting the leak.

Response from All About The Pipes Plumbing
On this particular job, the service technician informed the homeowner that the current Moen model that was in place was discontinued; therefore we could not repair the current faucet, it had to be replaced. The homeowner specified that he wanted a new Moen faucet which we supplied. Contrary to the homeowner's description, the model we installed was a model number: M67315CSL, a Moen, one handle, stainless kitchen faucet, supplied by Ferguson. The reason the old faucet was not left on the job is because it was broken, homeowner wanted it replaced and the All About the Pipes Plumbing leaves no trash on their jobsites. The $411.00 charge included new faucet, new supplies, labor and two year warranty which is fair market value for this service. Thank you, Christopher Vigna Owner/President All About the Pipes Plumbing, Inc.

Overall experience was great. I chose the company based upon Angie's list referral. I spoke with Mary by phone, she was pleasant and helpful. We were very impressed with this company all the way around....we had a bad experience with another plumber that didn't show up and we had been without a kitchen sink for 3 days already. I called them at 11am and Brian was at my house by 1:30. They fixed the problem & replaced a part quickly and sink was fixed! No wonder I had this same problem 2 previous times...the last plumber only did a temporary fix and didn't correct the problem and it was WAY more expensive the last 2 times. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends and we will use them again if we need another plumber.

I had a garbage disposal die on me- blades wouldn't spin, and water wouldn't drain- and called All About The Pipes to see if they could fix it for me. They arrived the next morning, on time, did excellent work, and installed the needed solution within 90 minutes. It probably would have only taken 20 minutes, but the plumber had to return to the shop to pick up some extra parts to complete my repair.

Excellent. Company was very responsive; individual who came out was extremely professional, personable and helpful. It went super. Within an hour of me discovering the problem, Chris was hard at work confirming it and then solving the problem.
Description of Work: We discovered a leaking sewer line behind the walls on a Saturday afternoon and called for help. Chris was there within an hour and quickly went about the dirty work of climbing under the floor to rip out the leaking pipes and replacing them. When I suggested a smaller amount of work to save time and money, he said a more complete job would give better results and cost the same! Their prices are most reasonable and I am deeply satisfied with the results. So much so I insisted on him getting a tip, something I rarely do with service providers. And when I have to replace the rest of the 60+ year old plumbing, I wouldn't think of calling anyone else!

I noticed that my washing machine water was backed up into the downstairs bathtub and toilet. I called a family member who knows about home repair and he said to call a plumber asap because it sounded like my main sewer line was blocked. This was Sunday afternoon around 1:00 pm. I had used this vendor before and had thier number on my fridge - called thier afterhours number and left a message - was called back within 15 minutes and was told that a repairman would be dispatched. He arrived at my home before 2:30 pm. He looked around throughly and dug out the sewer line - on a rainy day and in the mud. He discovered that a holly bush had grown roots into the main sewer line and crushed it - the drain was completely impacted and raw sewage was draining into the ground. He could not complete the repairs in Sunday but he applied a temporary patch to get me through the day. Mary called me at 7:30 am on Monday and the repairman was at the house at 8:30 with the parts to complete the repair. He dug out further and ended up replacing about 3 feet of sewage line and he installed a clean out pipe to prevent issues like this in future. My older home didn't have one so he brought it up to current code. He was very good at explaining things and was diplomatic about items he found lodged in the pipes. I appreciated the advice and great communication. I only missed about 3 hours of work and he cleaned up the area and replaced the dirt neatly. The repaired area will look fine after I get some mulch on it.

I have never written an Angie's list report, but after over 4 years of outstanding customer service, it's more than worth a mention. They are prompt, professional, fair, friendly and really work with the customer....and they are good at what they do. If you are looking for a plumber, I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We moved here just over 4 years ago. At that time, I searched Angie's List and hired All about the Pipes to come out to perform some services. Over the past four year, we have used them several times. From installing a new utility sink, to shower and faucet repairs and other misc. activities. The prices for these services over the years have varied, but they have always been fair. Yes, we have had a lot of work performed by this group.

It was an excellent experience for service - I have added them to my home emergency phone number list, and would not hesitate to use them again. We have an older home (60 years) with some pretty weird plumbing, and we will use them to do some practical pipe re-organization under the house with the pipes to stave off future problems. I highly recommend them, and they will be quick with their response.
Description of Work: Doing some big Thanksgiving prep - and yes the drain and pipe in the kitchen stopped up. I went to Lowe's tried to unstop it my self by pour the "liquid Plumber" in twice - with no luck. Then I had an enormous muck in both kitchen sinks. Found this company on Angie's list, sent them an email at 11:00 at night - and the next morning - promptly called at 7:30 a.m., and they were out right away. They were neat and clean, put booties on, the gentleman was very professional, clearing out the pipes with minimal snaking, agreed that I should not have used the liquid stuff, just go ahead and call.

From start to finish everything was perfect. Everyone was very nice to work with from All About the Pipes. This was actually the second time I hired them to do plumbing work for me. They are always the first ones I call when I have plumbing issues or questions. They installed a recirculating hot water pump for me a few years ago, which works great. On this job, Chris (the owner) showed up on time to handle the quote and give some good suggestions. Mary who always answered my calls when I called their office was always very nice to work with. Anytime I had questions or needed copies of items, she would email them to me, which made it very convenient. Paul and Dan arrived on time on the day of the installation. They even gave a courtesy call before they arrived to let me know they were on their way, which was very nice. They worked very quickly and had everything done before lunch. They cleaned up the work area and left the area exactly as they found it. The guys that worked with them to handle the electrical did a good job as well. The let me know that the breaker box was almost full. They also labeled the breakers in the box that were associated with the new tank-less system. Which was a nice thing to do. This was the second time I have hired this company and the second time they did a great job.
Description of Work: I wanted to have a new tank-less water heater installed in my house before my 22 year old tank water heater died. So I had All About the Pipes come out to give me a quote. The owner (Chris) came out to my house to look over what we had and talk to me about what I was looking to do. We discussed the tank-less system and moving the water heater from our garage to the crawlspace under our house. He looked over everything, made some notes and was finished. He had arrived on time and even called ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. Shortly after, they emailed me the quote for the work. They gave us several different options, depending on how much we were looking to spend for different features. Which was nice to have the different options. We liked the quote for the tank-less system, so we set a date to have the new system installed. We had decided to go with the tank-less water heater and to have the system installed in our crawlspace. Thus giving us more room in our garage, which is always nice. The day of the installation, the installer's gave me a call to let me know they were picking up supplies and when they would be arriving. Paul and Dan showed up exactly when they said they would and got right to work. Dan had been out to my house a few years before to help install a hot water recirculation pump. Which was good, because I knew he did good work. They got the new system installed, had an electrical company come out at the same time to handle the electrical work, and removed the old system all before lunch. The next day, Dan came back out to prepare the system for the inspector. The inspector arrived shortly after and checked over the plumbing, gas line and electrical connections at the electrical box. Everything checked out, so I called Mary at All About the Pipes to let them know. Dan was back not too long after that to reconnect the gas line that was being inspected. I then talked with Mary again and she emailed me a copy of the paid invoice.

During an earlier call to replace several toliets, I asked Larry to look at my hot water heaters because we noticed a lower supply and leakage at the base of one heater. He predicted that it would survive, but that I would eventually need to replace it. No phoney hype about all the problems if I didn't schedule it that day. He just suggested I keep an eye on it. We decided to get it fixed and called them back a month later. You don't talk to someone through a garbled connection while they are driving or working. Instead, it's as professional as scheduling an appointment with your dentist - just much more fun. She arranged for the owner to come out and take a look. Chris gave me at least 3 different options to consider. I called back with our choice and work was scheduled. Larry arrived 15 minutes early - when was the last time that happened with a repair or service call? He finished when promised and took the time to show me how to maintain the new water heater and tips and advice about my old one. These guys are great. Without sounding corney, it's like having a couple of frinds over to help you out. If you live in Southeast Charlotte and use anyone else, you are making the experience tougher than it needs to be. You might think their prices are higher. They should be, but they are not!
