I was very happy with the service from All about the Pipes. Bill A was very professional and cordial and fixed everything very efficiently. We have used this company before for a stopped up shower drain and we were pleased in the past as well and will continue to use them. I would highly recommend AATP for any plumbing job.....

While the following may be construed as a less-than-stellar experience at the outset, I want to be clear that I am EXTREMELY pleased with this company and have used and will continue to use them for all of my plumbing needs. The plumber who came out on that Monday was fairly new to the company and did not appear to have the same level of experience as the other plumbers I'd had from AATP in the past. I explained the history and approximate location of the problem to him, based on the information AATP had provided me in August, but he was unable to identify or fix the problem on his own, despite spending most of the day at it (which did include the installation of the clean-out, however). A second plumber, Dan, was sent out to assist him later in the day and Dan was able to free the clog. I expressed my concerns to Mary related to my experience with the first guy, given that my prior experiences with AATP had been nothing less than excellent. AATP's owner, Chris Vigna, called me personally. He was very concerned with my experience, expressed his appreciation for my feedback and assured me that they would take care of it. We'd hoped the clog would not recur during the upcoming holidays and planned to do the permanent fix in January. Unfortunately, the same thing happened the following Sunday. Again, Mary was VERY responsive and had someone out the next morning. The crew came with camera equipment and identified the source of the problem. With the clean-out now in place, they were able to find the roots and extract them with the snake without having to pull a toilet. The work was completed in a matter of a couple of hours and I was billed a total of $275 for both visits. Shortly after the holidays, I contacted Mary to get a quote on getting the underlying problem fixed once and for all. Chris came out to do a visual inspection, provided me with a quote that afternoon and the work was scheduled for the next week. Dan came out this Thursday and replaced the section of pipe that had had the root infiltration. The total bill was approximately $328, which was actually under the original quote. The first time I used AATP several years ago, Chris Vigna himself came out to do the job. I've had the occasion to use them a number of times since then for various reasons and have found all of his staff to be knowledgable, friendly, and professional. My experience with the first plumber in December was clearly an anomaly and my understanding is that he is no longer affiliated with AATP. I truly have nothing but high regard for the work ethic and focus on customer service that this company consistently displays. They take great pride in providing the highest level of quality service every time they take on a job and when things don't go according to that plan, as will happen with any company at some time, they go to great lengths to make it right. They've most certainly earned my respect, as well as all of my future business.
Description of Work: In mid-December, I had an overflowing toilet and drainage backing up into my master bathtub on a Sunday afternoon. I immediately called AATP's emergency number and received a prompt return call from Mary (AATP's gem of a scheduler). Even though they were completely booked for the coming week, Mary was able to get someone out first thing the next morning. This same problem occurred in August 2011 and the diagnosis was root infiltration in my exterior drainpipe. I'd received a repair quote at that time, but put off having the work done in the hopes that I could get away with doing so for a few months (needless to say, shame on me for procrastinating). In addition to the immediate problem, I also needed to have a clean-out installed; the original one for the house appeared to have been buried somewhere in the raised beds in front of the house by a previous owner, so all work (snaking, etc.) to that point had had to be done from inside my house and involved pulling a toilet.

My complaint is that if this is standard practice for older water heaters, this information should have been stated upfront in the advertisement of the deal. Not everyone owns a newer water heater. Also, although the young man seemed very knowledgeable and spent some time discussing future options to me regarding if/when I wanted to upgrade the water heater, he never followed up by sending me information as he promised he would. All in all, not a good experience and I wasted $99. Don't like giving someone a poor review, but don't feel I have any other choice.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal which was $99 for "a whole house plumbing fixture inspection and water hater flush." I didn't need the inspection, but I did want the water heater flush and was willing to pay $99 just for that service alone. When the young man arrived, he took one look at the age of my water heater and said that he didn't recommend flushing it as it would create more problems than it would solve since the water heater is quite old. He explained the reasoning behind this and it did make sense to me; however, I ended up paying $99 for no service at all.

AATP replaced our hotwater heater a few years back and we had no disappointments, so we called them again for this problem. Most importantly, AATP referred us immediately to another business (Greenpoint Restoration) which was most helpful. After GR began their work, AATP was still needed for the leaky pipe. Their office was responsive, flexible, and professional in scheduling our appointment. The plumber was knowledgeable, capable, tidy, and explained exactly what was done. The problem was much simpler than we expected, so the price and time involved seemed reasonable.

Excellent service. I noticed a puddle of water under our sink this morning, just starting to damage the wood floor. I called the company, and immediately they were able to send someone out to check out the problem. Brian arrived promptly, was very professional and courteous. He thoroughly investigated the problem and determined it was a problem with the kitchen faucet. We always have been very pleased with the service that we have received from All About the Pipes Plumbing.

I contacted All About The Pipes via Angie's List to inquire about moving a dryer vent pipe and gas line pipe so that we could fit our dryer in our laundry room. I specifically asked in the email if this type of work could or would be performed by their company. I received a telephone call from Mary Geiger who wanted to schedule a time Christopher Vigna (President/Owner) could come out and give us an estimate. I scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 0800 and again asked if this type of job is something they could do and she confirmed they, in fact, could do the job. Fast forward to Wednesday, November 30, 2011, and Mary again called, saying they weren't going to be able to make the scheduled time by 0800 due to an emergency. Things happen, so I agreed to a 1000 appointment. Mr. Vigna arrived, took a look at the job and provided information as to how the job would be handled. Mr. Vigna then started to leave without giving us an estimate. My wife stopped him and asked about the quote, and he said he wasn't sure and had to write it down and determine the estimate. That same day, I received an email message from Mary saying they couldn't do the job and referred us to other companies, essentially wasting our time. Clearly, if they couldn't do the job they should have explained this either over the phone, via email prior to arriving, and perhaps even when they were physically at our house and not have wasted our time. We're contracted to sell our home and have limited time to conduct the work. In a way, I'm grateful this happened as I was going to inquire about contracting with them to install an irrigation system in our new home that covers approximately 1.5 acres. I'm sure the company will respond to this, but BUYER BEWARE.

I was impressed from the first visit when they came and gave us an estimate for the work. We had gotten 4 other estimates and the All About the Pipes crew was the most knowledgeable by far. They detected problems from recent plbg. work done ( house not grounded from new pex line run from meter, expansion tank not added to new water heater, etc.) and gave us a reasonably priced estimate. They arrived on time for the job, were extremely courteous, professional, and went the extra mile to make us happy. I don't mean to gush, but Bill Vacca, Brian Sulli, and Sam Peppler were skillful, proficient and masterly plumbers! Since I moved to Gastonia, I've had at least 5 different plumbing companies out to do work for us, but this crew and company was the absolute best... I would recommend them highly to anyone needing plumbing work done.

Overall, AATPP provided excellent, prompt and highly professional service. I was very impressed with Dan, the technician, who assessed and resolved my plumbing issues. I have had my kitchen back up on me every one or two years (over the past seven years) and Dan is the first one to identify the root cause. After a brief discussion, Dan went into the crawl space and took his flash light to trace the pipes from the kitchen sink to the clogged area. Dan identified the design flaw where one of the pipes was actually going in the opposite direction of the gravitational pull (e.g., right downward slope versus a left downward slope). In the past, plumbers would go right to the clogged area and just snake it; thus, alleviating the problem but not getting to the root cause. Dan also recommended a better way to route the pipes and provide a stronger drop (to enhance the gravitational pull). He also made sure there was adequate support bands to ensure piping does not fall in the future and disrupt the flow of water. I could tell that Dan is very passionate and knowledgeable about his craft. Additionally, Dan was very articulate and appropriately communicated the action steps and price estimates. The service was very timely as well. I left a message on Sunday afternoon and was called first thing Monday morning. Dan was at my home by noonish and did the snaking which gave me full utilization of my kitchen. The re-piping was done the very next day (today). This is a great company with a great team and I am highly impressed with Dan! Thank you for everything...
Description of Work: Snaked 2" drain line through cleanout in crawl space and replaced 1-2" band. Re-piped kitchen drain in crawl space (approx. 15' of piping) due to a design flaw.

They were about 20 minutes late, which was not a big deal, and they called me ahead of time to let me know they were running late. Both plumbers were very professional and courteous, and they tried to repair my existing shower before replacing it with a new unit. I have used them many times in the past, and will continue to use them in the future. They are straightforward with their service and pricing, and are much more professional that other contractors that I have used in the past.

The plumber arrived promptly, was very professional, and checked out the existing plumbing with all the fixtures asked to evaluate. Took his time to evaluate every pipe and connection. While he was there, we asked if he would do an add-on service to install a garbage disposal that we had previously purchased but had not yet installed. To our delight, even though he was on a tight schedule, he made room for us, and completed the project that would have been difficult for us to complete. In addition, he was very congenial and cheerful through the whole process. Talk about wonderful customer service! And, in addition to all this, the price was fair, and the initial phone call through to the company was quick, seamless, and scheduled an appointment promptly. Thanks, I would recommend you to anyone I know!
Description of Work: Had plumbing checked in the bathroom after there was a leak with our washing machine in an adjoining room. All plumbing was checked, and had some minor adjustments completed. While the service provider was there, we asked if we could add-on a service to install a new garbage disposal for our kitchen sink.
Very dissapointed in a plumber that I thought was competent and professional. Despite being very patient and offering multiple opportunities for AATP to resolve this issue amicably, the owner has apparently decided to try to minimize any resolution to this issue in the hopes this will simply go away. I have only two e-mails from AATP despite multiple queries. I have only received two phone calls from AATP's insurance company. The "highlights" of this interaction:AATP shattered a 4" drainage pipe that should have been tied into the new sewage pump. Instead of noting this damage and effecting repairs, AATP simply buried the damaged pipe and misrepresented the status of the drainage pipe. This had the very real potential of creating an overflowing toilet into a finished basement with subsequent water damage.AATP incorrectly installed the sewage pump with inadequate drop off to ensure correct flow of sewage.AATP's refusal to take responsibility for the damages and expenses incurred in repairing their mistakes.AATP's possible causation of previous sewage water intrusion into basement when a power snake was used on a whirlpool drainage pipe with subsequent pipe separation.I am pursuing this issue not only through Angie's list but also the NC Attorney General's Office, NC Plumbers Licensing Board, and the Better Business Bureau. I am contemplating legal action.
Description of Work: 7/31/11-Rain and sewage pump failure causes water intrusion into basement.

8/1/11-All About the Pipes (AATP) finds large root ball and cracked canister. Proposes new dual sewage pump.

 8/29/11-Sewage pump installed by AATP.

8/31/11-AATP states that everything has been repaired and water flows into sewage pump when toilets in basement flushed. However, the basement powder room toilet was not working. Decided to replace the toilet. Decided to use Dan King Plumbing (DKP) in order to also replace whole house water conditioning system that DKP had previously installed.

9/3/11-DKP replaces the basement toilet that still doesn’t flush after replacement. Plumber is concerned there is a distal obstruction. (Plumber is alarmed upon hearing that a power snake was used through the master bedroom tub piping in 2010 which was hand tightened. The snake resulted in pipe separation and subsequent insurance claim for approximately $30,000. ) Agreed with DKP that sewage expert needed to definitively diagnose the problem by using camera to avoid another potential water intrusion. After DKP left, AATP plumber (Dan-the same one involved with the situation in 2010) arrived unexpectedly. Flushing difficulty replicated. AATP offered to power snake the new toilet. I declined due to increasing concern about professional competence of AATP and Dan's involvement with the 2010 issue.

9/7/11-DKP finds that a 4" pipe has been shattered by back hoe approximately 5' from the recently placed canister. Photographs taken and attached to this e-mail. DKP notes that the sewage pump was not installed at appropriate depth in order to connect the sewage pipes, had no vent/extension, and no water is noted flowing into the sewage pump during toilet flushing.

9/8/11-AATP owner looks at damaged pipe and immediately calls his insurance carrier. DKP makes repairs on damaged piping and incorrectly installed sewage pump. Total monies paid:$5,299.79-50% cost of sewage pump, $565.18-Electrical for sewage pump$776-cost of new toilet$3,096-diagnostic work to determine sewer problem$11,045-repair damaged pipe, connect pipes, remove/reposition pump, install vent$2,662-Rainwagon to repair drainage, irrigation, lighting$628.75-Hamptonscapes landscaper charges for backfill, soil, shrub replacementTotal-$24,072.72. 11/3/11-AATP insurance company offers to pay only for Rainwagon and Hamptonscapes charges ($3,290.75)

Response from All About The Pipes Plumbing
Member Residence: Total invoicing from All About the Pipes Plumbing, Inc. (AATPP) to the member : $10,599.58 not $24,072.72 as indicated in complaint. The invoice has been partially paid by the member and there is an outstanding balance on his account. The member states a toilet was not working in his basement at the time of our job completion; however, all of our work was tested and working properly at the end of the project. Additionally, the member refers to an issue with use of a power snake used in the Master bathroom in 2010. Although the member refers to his insurance claim, no complaint was called to All About the Pipes Plumbing regarding our (2010) work at his residence. We have a two year warranty on plumber supplied materials and labor that he is aware of. The member refers to an AATPP plumber showing up unexpectedly to look at the toilet. All About the Pipes Plumbing is a busy plumbing contractor in the Charlotte area thus we book all of our calls in advance through a central office (including emergencies). Our technicians fit extra calls into their schedules for customers who may have an urgent need or problem. The member contacted our office via email and asked AATPP to come and assess the situation with his basement toilet as soon as possible, so we worked this call in to the technician’s existing schedule. After assessing the situation, the technician found that the basement toilet was not flushing properly after multiple flushes. I contacted the homeowner to discuss the toilet in question and explained that we stand behind our work and provide the warranty as well. Additionally, I reviewed the contract with him and discussed the two year warranty. I let him know the warranty would be void if another company alters or disassembles our original work. I also urged the member refrain from hiring another company and to cease any work by the other plumbing company so that I could personally come and assess the entire project again. I let him know that I would do any necessary work to have the project working to his satisfaction. This work would be no charge since under warranty. In the meantime, the member had another company working on our project . Although the member allowed me to come take a few photos on the property, work by another company was already well underway. The member decided he did not want us to do any work on the project and made the decision to hire the other plumbing company. During this time, the member continued to send us bills from the other plumbing company and asked us to pay him for their work; therefore, we contacted our (All about the Pipes Plumbing) insurance provider and opened a claim on the member job. The adjuster went out to assess the work and the complaint; however, original work was altered. The member states that he is very disappointed in us and that we are not professional. He also states the has offered many times to settle this issue amicably. As stated previously, I gave the customer opportunities to allow us to inspect, trouble shoot and do repairs if necessary at no charge (warranty) and his decision was to hire another plumber to redo the project. All About the Pipes Plumbing is a highly rated company with multiple awards. We pride ourselves on customer service by standing by our work and contract. We offer the free two year warranty to all of our customers and it is clearly stated in our proposals and contracts. We were happy to go out and complete the job to the satisfaction of the customer; however, he took it upon himself to hire another company to do the work thus voiding the contract and warranty. We ask that he pay his final invoice in a timely manner. Christopher R. Vigna Owner/President, All About the Pipes Plumbing, Inc.

I was VERY impressed with their service. They were quick and made sure that the issue was fixed properly before leaving by having me run water and dump 2 sinks worth down the drain so they could make sure there was no leak anymore. Both Bill's were very polite and professional and I would not hesitate to use them again.

He performed as a professional from analysis, assessment, and recommendation, through to installation. Pricing (reasonable) for the repair was provided same day as the initial visit. All About the Pipes provided exceptional service. Late on a Sunday night, when my washing machine was draining, my downstairs toilet began to positively gush water all over the bathroom floor and into the hallway outside. It was a mess. I called All About the Pipes--based on their Angie's List reviews--around 8:30 the next morning, and my problem was literally resolved by around 10:30 that same morning. The person who answered the phone was friendly and efficient, and the technician Bill was at my doorstep in Fort Mill in about 45 minutes. Bill listened well, assessed the problem quickly, and was cleaning out my main line with the corkscrew tool as soon as he had confirmed the source of the problem. Bill was cautious and tested the success of the cleanout thoroughly--running water from various sources in the house and ensuring clear pass-through from the house, through the newly cleaned main line, and into the street. In the house Bill was respectful and friendly, and overall I was thoroughly pleased with the service. Furthermore, I was provided with an estimate of costs at the time of my initial phone call, and that estimate is exactly what I paid. It was a good price for the complete resolution of my problem and the peace of mind that I have in knowing I will not have a repeat ocurence of the gushing-toilet scenario.

I actually paid less than the original estimate that I was given over the phone (that made my day!). Dan was very profesional, prompt and polite. Hopefully I won't have anymore plumbing problems, but if I do, I would call this company again!
Description of Work: After trying to make the repairs myself, I called at approx 12:45 pm and by 1:30 Dan was at my house. I had to have a fill valve replaced in one of my toilets and a flapper replaced in another.

I discovered that the drain pipe for my washing machine was leaking. After tearing the wall open, I discovered that not only was the pipe leaking, but there was a hole in the block wall where the pipe exited the house and the water was running down into the block wall as well as onto the laundry room floor. I had also been having a problem with my washing machine drain hose because the opening of the washer drain pipe was being shared by the washer hose as well as the drain pipe coming from the furnace. I called All About The Pipes Plumbing (AATP) solely upon their superior Angie's List rating. They came out and reviewed the situation and suggested that I install a dual outlet laundry box as well as running the drain pipe from the furnace inside the wall. They came and installed the laundry box exactly as quoted, however, upon completion they discovered that the drain was slow. Their suggestion was to snake the drain to clear the blockage. After two subsequent visits to snake the drain, they discovered that my washing machine was draining into a gray water catch basin, a long obsolete method of draining a washing machine into the yard. The gray water drain was no longer working due to silt build-up and tree roots. AATP surveyed the situation and gave me multiple options to fix the problem: excavate the yard and re-do the catch basin, install a pump to pump the water into the soil pipe overhead, or connect the pipe into the drain of the adjoining lavatory. I went with the third option. I am beyond pleased with the solution. I no longer have any drainage problems with the washing machine whatsoever. There is a reason these guys are top-rated on Angie's List: They work hard for that rating! I grew frustrated with the project along the way, and these guys assured me that we would find a workable solution and stuck with me to the end -- until I was 100% satisfied. I will be a customer for life. AATP understands customer service better than any company I've dealt with in a long time. If you choose them for your plumbing job, you will not be sorry you did!
Description of Work: The drain for the washing machine was severely leaking. After discovering that the original plumbing was not installed correctly when the house was built 30 years ago, AATP reconfigured all of the plumbing in my laundry room to current code.

All About the Pipes repaired a water main leak in the front yard. Everything about these guys is outstanding...initial quote was prepared on the same day as my call. I was quoted two options...repair and replace. Both were very reasonable. Chris, the owner was very knowledgeable and treated me like a good customer. Scheduled the work and the crew arrived when they said they would. The actual work was pretty difficult since they had to dig 3 feet down to locate the leak. They were very very attentive to the quality of their work and stayed with it until they were 100% satisfied. The final bill was within the quoted range. Not sure how it gets any better than this. I will use these All About the Pipes for all my plumbing...already told a work associate about them.
