Description of Work: Our gas heat stopped working. The company assessed the situation and identified that the heat exchange was broken and that it was still under warranty. This part would have cost $700, but they realized it was under warranty. They obtained a new part, and fixed our heat. Works perfectly.

The overall experience with Acosta has been absolutely miserable. Their work was messy; they draped a cloth over part of the carpet but got soot on another part. They were unable to make the R/C work; we suspected a faulty part from the mfr and ordered a new one which the installer said he would come back to "take care of" but then wanted to charge an additional $95 service charge AND IT TURNED OUT THAT THE ORIGINAL R/C WAS FINE. This is all insignificant, though, given that they left a leaking gas connection inside our fireplace that allowed a gas leak for nearly two months. PNG came out to investigate and immediately "red-tagged" our logs. I have called Acosta seven (7) times and have received no response and have, in fact, not yet been able to speak to the office manager. I have paid them $315 plus $100 to the other contractor to fix their work and today, I received another invoice from Acosta for $36.03 - the $35 balance that they believe that I should pay, plus interest!
Description of Work: Removed vented gas logs; installed ventless logs with remote control. Quoted $300-350 for all work, including checking all lines and connections inside and out. They were never able to make remote control work, but logs were manually operable and it was unclear whether the part was defective (which turned out NOT to be the case). When invoice came, charged $350 for work; I submitted $315 w/AL coupon. They sent back coupon and charge for $35 with interest. Meanwhile, PNG red-tagged our log set as there was a leaking connection left inside the house, which had allowed natural gas to leak inside our home for nearly two months. In addition, PNG found another connection that had a sharp bend instead of a gradual curve. I have since paid another contractor $100 to repair the leak and the sharp bend and have been unable to get a response from Acosta on how they will remedy the situation; please see "comments on overall experience."

ACOSTA CAME OUT AND AFTER A VERY THOROUGH INSPECTION PROVIDED US WITH A DETAILED REPORT OF WORK THAT NEEDED TO TAKE PLACE AND WHY. AT FIRST, WE FELT THE TEAM WAS VERY DEDICATED. IT WAS JULY AND VERY HOT. THEY CAME OUT TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM, THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED AND LEFT. THAT EVENING, THE TEMP WAS IN THE MID EIGHTIES UPSTAIRS. WE CALLED AND THEY CAME BACK OUT THAT NIGHT AROUND 11 P.M., AFTER FINISHING UP ANOTHER JOB. HOWEVER, THIS BECAME A TREND. IN THE NEW HOUSE, IT TOOK 3 TRIES (AND 2 BILLS) TO HAVE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR HASSLE WHEN TWO PEOPLE WORK, NOT TO MENTION VERY FRUSTRATING WHEN IT IS THAT HOT. PROBABLY THE BIGGEST ISSUE, HOWEVER, WAS THAT IN THE OLD HOUSE, IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO DO SOME REPAIR WORK, THEY STARTED A GAS LEAK WITHIN THE HOUSE. WE HAD ALREADY MOVED OUT AND WHEN WE RETURNED FOR CLEANING, THE HOUSE WAS FULL OF GAS. VERY SCARY AND RAISED CONCERNS WITH THE BUYERS.

HE HAD MY AC UP AND RUNNING WITHIN 5 MINUTES. FAN MOTOR WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY. I PLACED SEVERAL CALLS TO ACOSTA, ALWAYS BEING TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK AND THEY NEVER DID. FINALLY, I FAXED THE INVOICE FROM THE COMPANY THAT FIXED IT, ALONG WITH LETTER TO ZEKE ACOSTA, AND HE DID CALL BACK, ONCE. ON THE 2ND VISIT, A DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN TOLD US THAT WE HAD OIL AND FREON LEAKS, OVER AMPING, WEAK CAPACITOR, AND THAT THE SYSTEM WAS GOING TO GO ANY DAY, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY OR WE COULD REPAIR FOR $1397. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WE RECEIVED A QUOTE FROM ACOSTA FOR APPROX. $6000 TO REPLACE THE UNIT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE SYSTEM IS STILL RUNNING FINE. WE CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY FOR A SECOND OPINION WITHOUT MENTIONING WHAT ACOSTA FOUND WRONG. THIS TECHNICIAN SAID OUR UNIT WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AND THAT NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS EXISTED. THE TWO TECHNICIANS THAT WE DEALT WITH WERE VERY INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL. SHOWED UP ON TIME, AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM HIGHLY. CHOSE OTHER COMPANY TO INSTALL NEW UNIT BASED ON PRICE AND WARRANTY.
Description of Work: IN NOVEMBER 2004, ACOSTA CAME TO SERVICE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. ADDED FREON. IN MAY 2005, ACOSTA CAME TO SERVICE UNIT ONLY TO FIND THE UNIT WAS DEAD AND WE NEEDED A NEW ONE. ACOSTA WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN ALL ASPECTS IN BOTH SITUATIONS. ACOSTA REP. SPENT TIME AT HOUSE SUBMITTING BID FOR NEW UNIT. VERY PROFESSIONAL.

COMPANY WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE A ROUGH ESTIMATE VIA E-MAIL AND WAS VERY QUICK TO RESPOND. SET UP APPOINTMENT QUICKLY AND WAS ON TIME. COMPLETED WORK IN A VERY TIGHT SPACE TO OUR SATISFACTION AND CHARGED LESS THAN INITIALLY QUOTED. OVERALL VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE, AS THEY MET EXPECTATIONS.

WE HAVE USED ACOSTA IN THE PAST, AND HAVE ALWAYS FOUND THEM VERY RESPONSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. FOR THE SECOND SERVICE CALL, THEY DID NOT CHARGE US AS HE FELT THE FIRST TECHNICIAN MAY NOT HAVE EXPLAINED TO US ENOUGH ABOUT THE DRAINING SYSTEM. STEVE (2ND TECHNICIAN) WAS VERY INFORMATIVE OF WHAT TO DO IN THE FUTURE.
Description of Work: ACOSTA CAME AND PERFORMED CHECK-UP ON A SELFCONTAINED HEATING & A/C UNIT IN CONDO WE JUST PURCHASED, AND REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT WITH A PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE. CAME BACK ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON, ON VERY SHORT NOTICE, WHEN WE DISCOVERED THAT THE UNIT WAS LEAKING WATER.
