I have maintenance contract with them actually but I started using them because they are with my homeowners, the home warranty that you can get you can pay every year for you when something breaks and they were sent out and they did a lot of work for us at an old house that we had before we sold it. And then I continued to use them here and when I need service, I ask for them to do the work. I also have a contract with them where they come out and do like a tuneup every Spring for the a/c and then again in the Fall for the heat. We used them when we sold our house. We actually had three air conditioning systems. It was a three-story house. There was a unit for each floor. The people that were buying the house used one of these well-known air conditioning companies that you see on TV all the time that come out and want to sell you an arm and a leg. So I said," That's fine. I'll have my company come out and check everything." We ended up using my company and they did all the stuff that was required for probably half of what the other company wanted to charge.

They are under my home warranty, but I will never use them again. They charged me for work that I had already paid for. The first time it was under the home warranty, and you have to pay a hundred dollars, they had to come back, after the drainage line was not checked, the way I found out was I was painting the bathroom, and they removed an light fixture, and it shorted everything out. They did not stand by their warranty, and they charged me a second charge. They did fix it the second time around. I even had words with the people in the office, and they even told me I had to pay again. Two workers came, different workers. Took thirty minutes to complete. They do not stand by their warranty. I had to call them back within three months. The area was left clean.

They did fine. If something isn't working and I need them, they come for that. I haven't actually needed to call them on heating, I call them for plumbing. I haven't called them on heating and air because the work that they do keeps it running fine. They do fine work.

Whatever the cost is, it is worth it because I have no other expenses. It could happen because the air conditioner is old but it has got some years left in it. My son recommended them.
Description of Work: I use Accent Heating. They come out every year, twice a year. I have a contract. I pay them an annual contract and they come out twice a year. I have to pay for parts but other than that, it is included in the contact. In other words, they do tune ups. They make sure the furnaces are okay in the fall, and in the spring they come up and tune the air conditioner or top it off if it needs freon.

Most horrible experience trying to get someone do a job that they had already been paid for. Do not call this company.
Description of Work: Started well over a month ago. We have insurance on central air unit. Insurance company set appointment with this company. Took several days for them to come. Had to order parts and took another week to return. Put new parts on but froze unit up again. Called them back. Had to order more parts and wait more than another week. Replaced entire coil costing $1000 out of pocket up front plus the insurance companies amount charged. Replaced on Friday frozen on Saturday. Called again and given the run around about not being able to get there until late Monday. 95 degrees inside the home with elderly couple with medical issues. No show on Monday. Tech came on Tuesday and said that he could have come out on Saturday if he had been called by the company. Next day air froze again. Called again and the person setting appointments said it would be next Wednesday. After pointing out how terrible this company has handled this situation they are trying to get someone back today. Problem is yet to be resolved payment has been made. If this had not been the company the insurance company sent and already paid it would have never continued. All around terrible company. Don't even consider them.

I contacted Accent Comfort Services when we discovered our hot water heater was leaking. I had not purchased a water heater in several years so frankly, I was surprised at the cost. Dan Mills gave me a detailed breakdown of the work that needed to be done. Since it was a big, unplanned expense, I got a competitive bid from Lowe’s and their contract installers. At first it appeared the installation from Lowe’s would be $350 cheaper but when the installer came to give an actual quote based on the location of our water heater, the pricing was identical. I felt confident moving forward with the purchase with ACS. I had planned on using my “6 months same as cash” Lowe’s credit card but when I chose ACS, I ordered a credit card with 0% terms. The credit card was delayed but ACS was concerned our leak could worsen and possibly cause damage so they proceeded with the fix in advance of the credit card. We had our new water heater ordered and installed within a few days. I highly recommend Accent!
Description of Work: Replaced our leaking water heater that is in a storage area on our second floor. The existing water heater was almost 15 years old so there were some code updates that needed to be made.

I was out of town and called Accent Comfort services to repair a broken secondary drain pan line. I told them it was on the second floor and they would need a ladder to fix it. On the phone they said there would be a $69 "diagnostic charge" that would be included in the price if I had them do the repairs. I gave them the number of the property manager who would give them access to the property. The tech called before coming to the property. I told the tech what I had told the person on the phone when I originally called - and reminded him that he would need a ladder for the job. The tech said it was a broken pvc pipe on the secondary drain pan line and would take about 1 ft of PVC and a PVC connector to repair and about 1/2 hr max to repair. He didn't bring an extension ladder so it wasn't repaired right then. He charged me $69 (which I paid) for the diagnostic and said it would be included in the price if I accepted the estimate. When I called them this morning they said that the estimate was $187 to do the 1/2 hr job but the diagnostic price that I had paid was not included. I explained that I had been told by two separate people that the diagnostic charge was included - the customer service person checked with the "partners" and they said it wasn't. I also said that a total of $256 to repair a static drain line (parts for this would be only about $5 and a reputable firm would have them on their truck with a ladder) was excessive anyway but the misrepresentation about the diagnostic charge being included in the estimate was egregious. The customer service person checked with the "partners" again and said that the diagnostic price was not part of the estimate. This company should not be used. Mispresentation of price is dishonest.

[member name removed], We responded to your request and came to the property to make a diagnosis. The drain line was cracked/broken and needed replacement. It is rare we use extensions ladders in residential AC Service business, and when they are needed for repair it is usually a return call. In your case we looked at the work and provided a quote to completely repair the condensate line from the eave of your home to the ground preventing staining and damage to the exterior of your home. This was 20' in the air and would require the technician to be there for about 2 hours to do the work for you properly. The materials would have obtainable for $5.00 as you stated. It is unfortunate you feel we were charging you for another diagnosis etc. as we accounted for this in the price we quoted to you over the phone after we assessed what needed to be done at your home. If we are guilty of anything it is attempting to completely and professionally make a repair so it doesn't cause issues down the road and stain the side of your home. Lastly, to say we were dishonest is a particularly strong word for the company and the people who provide professional service to you an other customers in the area. If you didn't want us to make the repair that is fine but to make an accusation we were basically "stealing" from you is a reflection upon your character not ours. We work hard every day to service our customers and have been to your properties on other service calls without a complaint. You can always get things done cheaper but not always done correctly.

It was just the most terrific experience of my life. Our heater was broken for about five weeks because basically they would come out, we call complaining out and three or four days they come out and look at the problem and then have have to order the part which would take a week. Then once they got the part, they would call us and reschedule based on when they had it available, which would be another three to five days. Now whenever we had a problem from when it was completed it was usually about at least a week and half to two weeks. But it took doing that three different times to actually get the heater working because they never actually diagnosed the problem correctly or never fixed it sufficiently. They would come out and replace the part and it still didn't work or it works like for five minutes and then it breaks in like it was never actually fixed. My heater broke in December, I would basically say it has not been working 100 percent till about a week ago. The caveat to that, the reason why we actually stuck with them is because they have a home warranty company and the home warranty company when we contact them they decide who is going to come out to fix the issue.

[member name removed], The failures at your home were all different parts and it was in one of the coldest parts of the season weather wise. What you didn't mention is the failures were all repaired and each time we installed the parts the furnace checked out and operated fine. Then another failure occurred. With older equipment like your furnace this is common. Where once the equipment is started up and checked out other parts down the line fail. Because you have a warranty company you only paid for the service fee for the repairs. Also the parts you needed were all OEM parts and had to come from the factory which delayed the repairs. Through all of the repairs and the parts we made you were only charged a single service fee. Not bad for the number of failures and parts which had to be replaced. We never refused to service or delayed your service to correct the issues. We are sorry you felt like you didn't receive the service you deserved but we responded in a timely fashion to schedule, order parts and install them in every case. Thinking your review is a bit one sided. Dan Mills - Partner Accent Comfort Services

Excellent. The installer arrived right on schedule, and was very polite and efficient. It was obvious he knew what he was doing. Although this was not a complex job, we have had others - especially plumbers - who not too sharp. They or their associates helped us throughout our recent kitchen remodel and everyone was great. We have live here for 13 years and for several years we went from one heating/AC company to another. Either they were not trustworthy or they had almost no concern whatsoever for customer service. For example, service person hasn't arrived yet 45 minutes after the scheduled time? "He's tied up." End of story. We have been using Accent for several years now for our home and our business, and we are completely satisfied with their work, their pricing and their professionalism. It is nice to deal with a truly local company. So many have been bought out by large companies with little or no connection to the local community.

I was forwarded to Accent Comfort Services through my home warranty, which I contacted on Monday morning. The earliest appointment I could get for a repair was Tuesday afternoon. The first technician, William, told me that he did not have the part to repair the leak. He called someone and told me it could take up to a week for the part to come in. He said that when the part came in, the person would come in and install the part, it would be very quick and I wouldn't have to pay any other expenses. I was slightly concerned of the time frame, but because the leak was slow it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The office then called about fifteen minutes later and said they could send someone out on Wednesday between 4-6pm, I was aware it was going to snow on Wednesday, but did not argue with the office. I received a call on Wednesday, rescheduling my appointment for Thursday. I then received a call on Thursday rescheduling the appointment for Friday. On Friday morning, when the plumber arrived, he first said he couldn't do the work because I lived in a condo and had not requested the water be turned off to the entire complex (though he did not have the part on him anyway or have any knowledge that someone had already come out to look at the repair prior to this). That had not been in the instructions provided by William, otherwise I would have coordinated that. He then said he could not make the repair because the pipe was made of polybutylene which is not covered by my home warranty. William had not said anything about the pipe being polybutylene. Why was that only now coming up? Had I been informed of that to begin with when William came out, it would have saved me a lot of headaches, and I could have gotten the leak repaired in a timely fashion, rather than having to wait 6 days to find out it was not covered in the first place. Please do not misunderstand me. I understand that my particular issue is not covered under home warranty. That is not this company's fault. What I am frustrated with is that it took almost six days, three rescheduled appointments and two different technicians coming at the wrong time and one of which was incredibly unhelpful to tell me, and I am not afraid to let other people know about my experience.

[Member Name], It is unfortunate that the information couldn't be processed immediately for you. The situation involves calling in the claim to the warranty company and awaiting them to make the determination if the repair is covered. Accent cannot make any repairs until they give us the ok. In your case they determined it wouldn't be covered by your contract with them. Unfortunately, we have to follow their rules in terms of approval and wait times. This is a bit of a drawback with warranty company work which consumers like you aren't told about. The contractor who comes to your home can't make the/any repairs until they get approval from the warranty company. Sincerely, Dan Mills - Partner

My gas furnace broke down on a Sunday. I called my home warranty company who called Accent Heating and Cooling. They came out on Monday morning and diagnosed the problem as a bad induction motor. They said they would order the part and it should come in within the next two days. The weather was extremely cold in the teens each morning and the house was freezing cold for days. I called Accent every day for four days at least once asking about the status on the part. They said they would look up the status and call me back. They never called me back, but I called them several times. Most of the time they said they didn't know when the part would come in. I finally asked them to give me the UPS number so I could look it up to find out when the part would come in. They did look it up at that point and the part arrived on the fourth day. They then asked to schedule the repair appointment for the next Tuesday which would have been a week and a half after the furnace broke down. I asked for an earlier appointment and they said they would come out on Monday. I called my home warranty company and asked them to send out a new company to service the furnace. I will not allow Accent to come to my house again.

We responded to your request for service and diagnosed a failed part. The type of equipment you have in your home required a part to be special ordered in as no one in the area had the part in stock. We realize it was quite cold during this period of time but we couldn't expedite the part through the warranty company for any earlier time for installation. Our policy is we call customers to alert them to the part status and planned installation date. I can't verify if your were called or called us as stated in your response. However we did order and plan to schedule the part for installation and were told you contacted another company and cancelled the order and installation. Also the cold snap we had this winter had service companies at peak demand and we were trying to provide repairs to as many as we could to get them heat. We couldn't install a non OEM part on this unit as it would have potentially put your family in a life safety situation. We trust the other company that serviced you replaced it with the proper OEM part as designed and specified by the manufacturer. Respectfully - Dan Mills Partner

Horribly. Upon a brief inspection, they declared we were low on Freon. It was very obvious their technician in June had left a valve open, and we had a 'leak' to the order of magnitude of needing 2 lbs of freon in one month. After pointing out that the delta of change for us was the technician who came in june, they decided not to 'charge' us. A week later we got a bill in the mail for 2 lbs of freon they had said they were waiving fees for, in order to end the job. We didn't even sign the service agreement. No copy in hand, technically no job done. Horribly unprofessional.

[Member name removed] review is inaccurate and technically incorrect. An electronic sniffer is used on calls where we suspect (based upon readings from the gauges which are designed to do this) a refrigerant leak. I we "opened valves" the refrigerant would escape in a matter of minutes as it is under pressure within the system. If the technician is working with a customer and their is a dispute or verbal challenge to them we ask them to leave the premises so as not to get into a conflict on someones property. This is what happened on this job and explains why there was no signed service order and we invoiced for the services provided from the office. The technicians deserve respect and basic human dignity when they are trying to work for customers. Dan Mills - Partner - Accent Comfort Services.

Unfortunately, I was forced to use this company by my home warranty company, First American Home Warranty, They are the worst company that I have ever had to deal with. They also do business under Accent Comfort Services in Charlotte NC.They sent a technician out on July 2 2013. I was having trouble with my cooling system not cooling. They put in freon and something called stop leak and I was told that would take care of my problem. When I returned home from vacation I discovered that the HVAC was still not cooling. They sent someone else out and after about 10 min of checking, he returned to me and said that my total unit was shot and it would have to be replaced. This was on Tuesday July 9. I explained to the company that I had a small child at home and my wife was expecting. That didnt matter to this company at all. I was told that it would be at least a week before they could do anything to help me and my family. They finally set an appointment to replace the unit on Monday July 15 and I was told they would be here between 9-11. No one showed up and no one called. I finally called at 11:30 and was told the tech had truck trouble and would be here by 12:00. They arrived at 12:45. They told me it would be about a 4 hour job. So now I have to take the entire day off work at the last min. They finally finished at 7:30 that day. I was told that I would have to meet the building inspector to let them inspect the work per their permit. Of course, it failed inspection. So now I have to take more time off work to let them come out and fix their shottty work. They scheduled to come back out on July 25. I take another afternoon off and NO ONE SHOWS UP. No one calls. I called to complain about the no-show and was called back by the office manager to discuss the problem. I was told I must have been mistaken about the time. I explained to him I had incentive to be correct about the time because I had already missed plenty of time from work due to their complete lack of punctuality. He still continued to be rude and treat me like an idiot that cant listen. Bottom line, projects like this are usually a headache anyway. Please save yourself from this company. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a company. I can't believe that they are still in business.

Mr. [Member Name], The original repair was to try to seal the refrigerant leak in the system to provide the repair in the most economical way for you the customer. When you called back in we responded and after we inspected the unit found the coil had failures in it and it was better to replace your entire gas package unit. This unit is a $6,000.00 system for your home. We called to set the appointment and you delayed the first call because you wanted to be home when the tech was at your home. The original call was set up at 10am and delayed until 3:30. We processed the claim the next day and had permits from the county pulled as well. We indeed did delay the start of the installation due to a vehicle issue our fault. But we also stayed until after 7pm completing the installation so you would have comfort by the nights end. The inspection did fail for an improper breaker but after we spoke to the inspector he admitted he made an error and passed the installation. To assert this was a shoddy installation is not accurate. The only item in question for the failure was the breaker and it was incorrectly identified by the inspector and passed on the spot. It did take longer than expected to get the unit installed for your family but in the heat of summer standard lead times for a full system are in excess of 1 week. The initial visit to find out what I needed to stop water from leaking at my water heater was made by a representative from Accent who immediately diagnosed the problem as a failed water heater that needed to be replaced. As it turned out, after waiting 10 days for the work to be done, the problem seems to have actually been a leaking pipe in the wall. Most of the people I spoke with at Accent were cordial, helpful, and genuinely interested in my major difficulties with the Warranty Company. But two were abrupt, obviously irritated at me for being upset because I was waiting so long, and bordered on being rude. The men doing the work told me they were only "doing what was on the order sheet," which was not what I had been told would be done. There were conversations during the install with their supervisors, the warranty company, the workers and myself, but the outcome was total frustration for me. The installers were friendly and seemed to know what they were doing, but did try to sell me a CO2 detector which was on their order sheet for over $150 when I have 5 in the house! I refused to buy it. They fixed the leak and installed the new water heater, but left a lot of solder bits, finger prints on the doors, and dirt from their shoes on the floor. As I said, it took 10 days from the day Accent told me I needed a new water heater until things were fixed. That was due in part to the 2-10 Home Warranty people, but I understand Accent had the water heater to install on Tuesday of the week and didn't schedule the install until Friday! I repeatedly told them by phone our situation was an emergency with water seeping under my wood floors, but I was told by Accent to "turn the water off." That would have meant moving into a motel for at least a week! I might use Accent again, but only for a non-emergency situation. I regard a gas water heater failing and water leaking under wood floors as being an emergency. Due to what happened I have to say the whole experience was a nightmare. I ended up with $203 out of pocket in addition to the cost of the warranty I purchased so such failures would be covered, and the several thousand dollars it will now cost me to replace ruined wood flooring because it took so long to get the work done!

Response from Accent Comfort Services LLC
[member name removed], Your record of the water heater replacement and the time line is a bit off. Accent received the service call on 6/25/13 and ran the call the next day. We called the unit in for replacement authorization to your warranty company on the same day as service 6/26/13. The warranty company authorized the repairs and you approved the out of pocket costs on 6/27/13. On that same day we advised you to turn the water off to the unit to prevent any secondary damage and you refused to do so. The equipment is supplied by the warranty company and we cannot pick it up unless it is available at the supplier they choose. Even though they say the equipment is "ordered" that means they have requested the equipment to be made available to us. It was not in stock. As soon as we determined we could get the equipment the installation was scheduled. It was installed on 7/5/13. The installation was delayed but not by Accent. We have to have the equipment available for pick up not just ordered to schedule the installation. We are sorry about the delay in service as the usual time frame is 2-3 days average. My experience with Accent Heating and Cooling LLC was great. I will tell anyone. Anyone who asks me about air conditioning I will tell them about him. He fixed the one simple problem with my air conditioning unit that so many other contractors that came to my house and quote me so much money, couldn't fix. And the problem was as simple as removing a piece of stick and doing some dusting and cleaning of the unit. I will truly use him again in the future in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Accent Heating & Cooling LLC recently fixed my air conditioning unit for me.

Accent Heating and Cooling replaced my hot water heater. The overall service quality was excellent. They acted with a sense of urgency and they were able to get out hot water heater ordered and replaced within 48 hours ( important note- had to work through the warranty company and having a 48 hour turn around is unheard of). While their price was a little high, i would absolutely recommend them and they receive my highest reference. Special call out to Eric, who was the technician that did he actual work and stayed late on a friday and to Caylin, who worked magic to get the water heater ordered and installation scheduled.
