Alan didn't bring a lot of new ideas to the table, but did very competent drawings and was very accommodating overall. We chose him in part due to his lower price, but that was just what our budget would allow. If we didn't know what we wanted at all, then that could have been a problem. All architects, seem to keep charging as long as you have them consult, so we stopped consulting him after we got the drawings. The construction contractor actually helped us with changes though the process and really enhanced what Allen had drawn. The contraction team you use is just as important as the architect, so choose wisely. We were extremely pleased with our end result (pictured), but much of the credit goes to us and the construction contractor. The dormer pictured was added to the rear of the house. The built-ins surround the room and give tons of storage and the projection TV is recessed into the eve of the room. The theater seats make the room and we also did a kitchen and bath.
Description of Work: Alan drew us designs for a third floor media room and attic conversion. He is really a nice guy. We knew exactly what we wanted, but what he did was draw the plans and submit for historic tax credits. He did a good job. The commission did revise his drawing of the staircase, stating it's design was not in keeping with the house, and his proposed bathroom did have to be changed in the construction phase due to head room and sloping ceiling we had to deal with. It just would not have worked well the way it was drawn up.

Description of Work: ALLEN SIMPLY DOESN'T LISTEN WELL. HE DOES A GREAT JOB WITH THE EXTERIOR DESIGN BUT CAN''T DO INTERIOR PLANNING. HE DESIGNED THE MASTER BATHROOM WITH A SLOPING 3 FT CEILING DIRECTLY ABOVE THE TOILET. MY HUSBAND WOULD'VE HAD TO STAND 3 FT AWAY FROM THE TOILET TO URINATE AND HE'S 6'2" TALL
