A&J Lawn Mower Repair

I called this company because they provided on-site service--I would not have to take my lawnmower to them. The owner (Johnny) and his wife came to my home as agreed. I described the problem--mower would not start and gasoline was leaking from the gas tank-- and Johnny named a likely cause of the problem. I asked him to do a tuneup as well as fix the starting/leaking problem. Due to some medical issues, Johnny was not able to work on my mower, so his wife did the actual work while he directed her. Eventually, the work was completed and the mower started. Johnny decided that the reason it would not start was not what he originally thought because he had not replaced that part ( I don't remember what it was). So, we assumed that all was good! In the fall, I tried to start the mower, and not only would it not start, gasoline was leaking again. I called this company again and left a phone message describing what was going on. Johnny returned my call and told me that he fixed the lawnmower--that I was there when it started. I said that it had the same problem that I had paid him to fix, so maybe the problem was what he originally thought it was. I asked him to please come back and replace the part that he first thought was bad. We agreed on a time, but he did not come. I called to see if he was coming, and he told me he had forgotten. We set another time for the next day--a Saturday. He did not call or show up. I called him, and he told me that he has an actual shop now, and that they were very busy. We set a time for him to come on Monday, but once again, he did not call or show up. The bill states that the warranty covers labor only, but apparently, this situation does not count! Obviously, Johnny King does not stand behind his work, nor care whether he has satisfied customers.

Non lawn mower mechanic arrived at 530pm. I had been told they would be here around 1pm. The guy that arrived said that he had been laid off from his job today and was just doing a favor by coming by. Said that the lawn mower and weed eater couldn't be repaired economically and that replacing them would probably be a better option. He said he had to get in touch with the owner of A&J because he didn't know what the charge was. He finally got thru and was told to charge me $75 for 10 minutes that he had been at my place. I told him that was a rip off and he agreed and said that he thought $35 was the most that they would have charged. I had this company out last year and they did a good job at a reasonable price. The owner of A&J says the mechanic that fixed my equipment last year was fired for stealing his clients.......I think it is more like you (Johnny) are driving them to him. I am going to try to contact the mechanic that actually fixed my items last year and have him see if they are really beyond repair
