Travis and his team were Awesome!! I throughout their name like confetti!! Travis is a perfectionist and you can tell in my floors. During construction the hurricane winds blew water onto the hardwood floors. My husband and I were out of town wrapping up the sale of our home in Illinois and the 704 team spent days here drying out the flooring. They replaced the damaged flooring and stained the floor. Travis didn’t like the way it looked and sanded and restrained the whole main level. He charged us very little for all of that extra work. Great guys and exceptional work and you would be a fool not to use this company!!! The cost looks high, but my house is 7000 sq ft. And that includes removal of carpet etc.
Description of Work: Refinished Hardwood floors, steps and railing throughout the whole house. Installed new hardwood floors in areas and laid Laminate in my basement!!

At first I thought it was going to be great. He called me back the same day and walked me through what needed to be done. Definitely sounded like he knew his stuff. I sent him pictures of the staircase so he wouldn't have to come on site just to give an estimate. Unfortunately, despite numerous calls and e-mails he never got back to me with an estimate, He sounds like a good guy and is probably doing the work himself and juggling the administrative work. However, I would have liked a call or e-mail to say that he is too busy right now and will call when something opens up. I'm really disappointed because he sounded like he would do a good job.
Description of Work: I wanted carpet removed from stairs and the treads sanded and finished.

Travis was AWESOME! He was prompt and arrived a few minutes before his scheduled time. The job was a bigger job than we originally thought when we spoke on the phone but he went straight to work and knocked out the job in less than an hour. He cleaned the floors after completing the job and left my floors looking like new. I would HIGHLY recommend Travis for any of your flooring jobs!
Description of Work: Travis repaired my flooring due to a botched job by my previous flooring company.

For a month I tried to match our existing engineered hardwood floor with samples I brought home from every flooring company and big box store in town. Then I made appointments with the companies that advertise on tv. I found out that yes, they bring the samples to your house, but they also bring high pressure, a "sign now" sales approach, and high cost. I had almost given up. But, a personal referral to 704 Flooring, a check of their rating and reviews on AngiesList, and I was talking in person with Travis Trotty owner of 704 Flooring. Wow! He knew the original maker and color of our existing floor by just looking at it, and although it was no longer made, he quickly made a suggestion for a close matching product. He returned later that day with samples and a quote. His quote was reasonable and it was obvious I had found a reputable company. A week later, with his crew, he personally glued, installed the floor, and replaced the quarter round molding in a single morning. From start to finish the quality of their work was clearly observable and fun to watch. They cleaned up without a trace. The end result is a matching hardwood floor installed with care and quality. The crew was friendly and I was sorry to see them leave. Of course Travis left us with instructions for care and cleaning. Forget the big box stores or the stores that have one person sell you, but a another crew do the actual work. Go with the smaller company where the owner is knowledgeable and part of the whole process. I can't say enough about 704 Flooring.
Description of Work: Install and glue engineered hardwood in our great room after removing the carpet and padding. The hardwood had to match as closely as possible to the existing hardwood floor in the adjoining kitchen and dining room. Additionally, they filled a crack in the middle of our existing hardwood floor making it literally invisible.
704 Flooring is a great company that does fantastic work. I got 4 quotes from various companies before I decided to go with 704 Flooring. Their price was equally competitive and their work and follow up is superior. They were very professional and detailed in their work. A great part of the company is that the owner is on site working too. They are most concerned that the customer is happy and will not do whatever it takes to make you happy. We had our whole first floor redone, carpets out, wood in, stairs redone, and every room looks amazing. I would highly recommend 704 Flooring.
Description of Work: 704 Flooring replaced the carpet in my TV room and stairs with hardwood. They sanded my existing floors and wove the new flooring into the existing floors.

Before I say how GREAT 704 Flooring was- I need to provide context to how they came in and saved us from a BAD experience with Lowes. We initially ordered flooring from Lowe's and figured we would have them install the flooring as well - mainly because I thought it would be easier to finance via their Lowe's credit we had and have one throat to choke. Turns out its the opposite- you have 10 throats to choke and its like playing whack a mole to figure out which one to hold accountable. They had a pre-sales guy come out to measure and assess our rooms - which had carpet in them. He never asked about peeking under the carpet to see what was there - he just measured and left. I had to continually call Lowe's for updates on next steps as they never proactively called us. The first time I tracked them down the guy told me they needed to know what was under my carpet before they could give me a quote- but the onsite guy never said anything of the sort. They wanted to make sure it was not particle board. So I pulled up the carpet and confirmed it was old pine planks and told them that. They finalized my quote and ordered our wood. I realized our floor had old linoleum tile over the pine planks and I hadn't informed them so I called to make sure they knew and that wouldn't be a problem and they noted it and said it shouldn't be. WE were told the wood would arrive in 3 weeks. About a week later the installer they contracted called to schedule the install - but to my knowledge the wood wasn't even in yet. He said they were alerted it was in the store so I called Lowes and they said it indeed was and they would call me back to schedule delivery. They never called back. The next day the truck driver called and said he was ON HIS WAY - and would be there in 10 minutes. We weren't home -so had to scramble to get back to be there. A heads up would have been nice obviously. Than the installer came on Installation day - looked around and said he needed to make some calls to Lowes. 15 minutes later the store called me and said the installer couldn't do the job and that we needed all new sub flooring before he could proceed and that would be an extra $2000. So I told them never mind- that was strike three and I'd find someone else to do it. I Googled flooring companies in Charlotte and called the first 3 based off of the better business bureau's site. The first one listed was 704 flooring whom had an A+ rating so I called and left a message - than called two others. One guy said he could come give me a quote in a week. The other could come the next day but charged me $50 to come do the quote since I didn't buy the floor from him. Then 704 - Travis - called me back from my message and said he would be there later in the afternoon and enthusiastically said he loved to work and would swing by as soon as he finished another job. He showed up later that afternoon as promised - came and looked at everything - asked me good questions about our expectations and laid out the pros and cons of the job for me so I could decide if he should redo our sub-floor or lay the new floor over the existing pine planks as is. We decided it was fine as is and he gave me a quote that was HALF the price of what I had from Lowes AND the other 2 quotes I got - not to mention was going to save me from another $2k that Lowes was trying to hold me hostage for. AND he said he could be there on Friday - 3 days later to do the work which was critical to us. HE said they'd arrive between 8:00 to 8:30 - they arrived at 8:32 - so hey - not perfect but pretty d*** close - and they knocked out 2 rooms- 300 square feet before 5 Pm that day and the floors look FANTASTIC. The guys were great, they cleaned up after themselves, they cut outside so no dust in house - the ONLY negatives I could possibly come up with is that they accidentally left their fancy vacuum at the house when they left. Also- our house is a 60 year old house we just moved into. The rest of the house was hardwoods already that are really banged up and we'll definitely be inviting them back to resurface those floors which he said was their specialty. They inspired confidence in the first meeting and proved it in their first job with us. We look forward to having them back. And I have to say its amazing how much new floors change the look of an old house. They alone make EVERYTHING in the house look better. Oh - and this is the first review I've ever written for something like this which is a testament to how thankful we were for the 704 guys to come in and do such great work on short notice so we can finally finish moving into our house.
Description of Work: 704 Flooring installed hardwood materials we purchased from Lowe's - they did just the installation work - but if I could do it over again I would have purchased the flooring from them as well. We plan to have them back to refinished the rest of our older hardwoods after the great job they did for us.
