If you have a rental house or something and you need the job done and done cheap, these guys are good. If you've got a really simple job, these guys would be good. But the quality just wasn't there. I don't want to give the impression they messed up my house. It looks fine. And I admit I have flooring that is really hard to use -- engineered bamboo -- but then that's why I called a professional. I happen to work from home, so I was here during most of the work. As a result, I saw that they were having troubles with the material breaking. They called someone they knew regarding this breaking problem and told me they had to glue down (rather than nail in) the trim because of these material problems. Well, OK, no big deal -- except when they glued it, they used the wrong kind of glue and so it didn't stick in a lot of places. They weren't careful in their gluing, so there's a lot of places where the glue oozed out from under the trim a little. Not much, a millimeter or two, but it is still shoddy quality and they didn't take the time to do it right. While they were working, I had to get on them a little bit to get them to deal with some problems. There was a spot near a door where they said they "couldn't fix" a small hole. I asked if they could try cutting a little piece and jamming it in there, they tried it and it worked great, looks good -- but had I not been here, they apparently would have just left a hole there. Then a second time, there was a really difficult cut around the stairs. I asked how they were going to handle it, and they told me they had tried to cut the small pieces but they couldn't get it to work on their saw and it was too hard, so they were just going to leave a hole there. I got down and explained the cuts I'd make if they can't do the 45 degree cuts and we eventually came to a solution that is so-so. I feel like someone who has dealt with this material before and knew a little more about what they were doing could have done the cut. When we were doing the final walk-through, I also found an entire piece that wasn't glued down at all... Again, it is just a matter of not taking the time to check the work or do the work just right. I also had them replace a piece of base board, and he did OK on that too... except the cut is off by about 1mm and sticks up a bit, and when he glued it together he didn't wipe down the glue so now it puffs out a bit. Ok, again, I just have to sand a little more before I paint it, but low quality work and lack of checking work is clear. After they left, over the next couple of days, a couple of pieces popped off the wall. Sure, the bamboo is a little bendy naturally, so it would take a significant force to hold it on there, but I was able to re-glue it with the flooring glue I had provided them (but they didn't use) and now it is held down. There's a couple of other places that I still need to go back and re-glue because they didn't quite get it level down to the floor. So, the flooring is in and it looks OK. They didn't mess up the house, the contract was fulfilled. Once i went back and did a little clean-up, the job was OK. It was cheap, $350 cheaper than the next guy, but I really think it would have been very shoddy if I hadn't been here. If you've got a job that you need done quick, easy, and cheap, then this is your guy. If you want it done right and you're willing to pay a little more, keep shopping. I really wish I had paid a little more to get better quality.

Response from 1 Dollar Flooring.com
Hi (Removed members personal information.) wow I never realized I had reviews on Angies list. I'm sorry that the guys who did your floors didn't do a perfect job. I was a little busy that week and had my good friend and fellow tradesman James and his helper install your floors. The bamboo molding was a little trickier to install, but shouldn't had been that big of a problem, they just didn't have the proper glue at that time. As for the other problems you mentioned, the pieces we had to cut and fit is wasn't our problem. It was never even mentioned during the estimate, you had installed that room yourself, messed up a few cuts and we fixed it by ripping and cutting pieces to put in. The baseboard being cut short? (used caulk, its common) We didn't charge you and you never mentioned anything to me about that either during the estimate, they did it was a favor same goes to fixing the room you had installed. Either way, Thank you for your business.
