Our Dyson vacuum cleaner was jammed in the reclined position and would not lock back up in the upright/store position. We called and they told us to come right out because the floor staff might be able to just deal with it. Unfortunately, they could not and so we had to leave the vacuum to be looked at (this was a Friday). We got a call on Wed or Thurs that the vacuum was repaired. Since it required repair work they had to charge the standard repair fee, but since it was a relatively quick fix they also completely cleaned the vacuum canister as well. We picked it up and it's worked great since.

Tom, the owner, returned our call the same day and was able to give us an idea what parts would be needed and what the costs would be as well as how long we would be without our vacuum (we had an estimate from another shop). Tom was very frank about repairs versus replacing our vacuum. We so appreciate his candor and integrity - he could have made a very good case to replace our vacuum which would have cost us more. While we would have another great vacuum it wouldn't be quite as good as the one we had repaired. We took the vacuum up the next day and we also took up one of our power heads for servicing. The store manager and the service tech were also really great to work with - they all were very professional, personable and knowledgable. They very kindly lent us a vacuum to use until our's could be repaired (parts had to be ordered). All in all it was a little over a week before we could pick up our vacuum. When we picked up our vacuum and power head they looked like new (vacuum is almost 11 years old) and they run as well as they did new. We continue to travel to Chapel Hill (a 70 mile round trip) for all our vacuum cleaner needs. Great service and products; so glad we found them.

I just joined Angie's List a week ago and was checking out the categories. Near the very end was "vacuum cleaners." As it happened, I was probably within days of replacing mine because of poor suction and not picking up pet hair as well as I had hoped. I have 2 cats and this is their shedding season. I didn't know there was a vacuum cleaner "hospital" in this area. I took it in on Saturday, and I thought I would be told that it wasn't worth repairing. To my surprise and delight, I was told it would be better to repair it. The reasons given were that the service would be cheaper than replacing it (true) and it would be one less vacuum cleaner in the landfill (so true). This shop also sells vacuum cleaners, and I was ready to buy one if that was the recommendation. On Monday I received a call that the vacuum cleaner was ready for pick-up -- three days earlier than expected. I just finished vacuuming and it has never worked better, even when brand new. I would encourage anyone to take their vacuum cleaner to the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital before replacing it. You will get an honest opinion. They do excellent work. I'm sorry that I didn't know about VCH when I bought my current vacuum cleaner. I have a feeling that I would still have it and it would have been kept in perfect working order by VCH.

Spoke with Rich initially and he was the one who installed our house vacuum. Rich arrived on time and was very professional and very knowledgeable of the product and its installation. He reccomended the best product for our needs and house size. I thought it was considerate that he would be concerned about the noise level on installation because I work nights and the installation took most of the early day. We are enjoying our house vacuum and I thought Dyson was a good product. This vacuum is much better. I would recommend this company highly. Thanks Rich!

I have a residential cleaning service and the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital is one of our essential relationships! We have utilized the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital for purchasing and maintaining our vacuums. We have used their services for over 10 years and have always had amazing service, reasonable prices, and great advise. They listen to your needs and give you the best solution. I truly appreciate the relationship we have had with them. Not only do we use them ourselves but we recommend them to our clients from central vacuum systems to apartments.

They were good. I think they were the only service in the area where I live and work. It only took about two days for the repair.

I brought the vacuum in the morning. They knew exactly what the problem was (they'd seen it before). The original estimate was that it would be ready later in the week. Apparently something in my reaction led them to believe that I really needed the vacuum before then, so when their workload that afternoon turned out lower than expected, they bumped my vacuum up in the queue (since they basically knew what the problem was and exactly how to fix it). I got a call a few hours later saying that I could come and pick it up. Another nice thing is that since our vacuum was in good shape and pretty clean, they knocked off about $20 from the quoted servicing fee (since cleaning the vacuum is a large part of the work, if the vacuum is cleaner to begin with, it means less work for them). I got the vacuum home and gave it a spin. It works good as new. I was very impressed with their work, attention to detail, professionalism, and honesty. I'll definitely be going to them again and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Due to the voltage requirement, he brought out a larger capacity, more powerful unit than we had originally discussed, but he did not charge me more than we had previously agreed. In this case, it was also to the company's advantage, as 240 V units are less in demand than 120 V systems. After the installation, which took surprisingly little time, he tested the system integrity for drawing power and air leaks, demonstrated the bag change procedure, and checked the installed system to answer my questions about modifiying the number of in-house outlets and, possibly, upgrading the vacuum hose system in the future. For anyone considering a whole house system, the bag-type units are considerably cleaner and quieter than the bagless systems. There's lots of information on the internet; google central vacuums.

I don't have a car and they came to my home and serviced the machine as a special service.

The problem was identified and I was given an estimate range with the possibilities clearly explained. I was given a pick up date for 4 days later. When I picked it up it was ready, the price was a bit lower than the lowest in the estimate range. The people were pleasant, friendly, and professional.

The service was fine. The one ding I have to give them was that they didn't provide a quote for the service before completing it, even though I had asked for one. The price seemed fair in the end, so it could have been worse, but it's just a simple change they should make.

When we called they set up a time and appointment and were always very friendly and courteous. They were very knowledgeable about the system and I would highly recommend them to family and friends.
