Mike Sturdivant Firewood

Mike was very responsive, not only to my initial phone call to arriving promptly (even early), and he moved quickly, was careful, and stacked the wood beautifully. I used to burn 10 cords of wood a year, so I know the importance of a nicely and professionally stacked wood pile. I look forward to buying more from Mike. His prices was very reasonable, to boot.

The seller showed up with a large truckload of very nice firewood. When I questioned whether it was a cord of firewood (128 cubic feet), he got angry and jacked his truck backwards into my driveway, then got out and began berating me because he had driven 40 miles to deliver it. The seller stacked the firewood very neatly and left. The wood was cut to the right length (under 18"), and it was dry. However, when I got out a tape measure, the wood came to 92 cubic feet. (Later, the seller disputed the length of the stacks, but even if we use his measurements, it still came to 108 cubic feet, hardly a cord of wood.) I wanted to resolve the issue and be able to leave him a positive review here, so I called the seller and left a message asking for another 36 cubic feet of firewood. He called back and agreed to "make me happy." Well, he showed up two hours before the appointed time, at a time I had told him I would still be at work. Instead of bringing wood to fill out the cord, he brought an empty truck, and when I arrived home early, he was filling the truck to take it all back. (NOT what we had agreed to.) At this point, he was nearly done putting all the wood back into his truck. He handed me the selling price in cash and said we were now square. Because I need firewood to keep my house warm in the winter, and because it's early November already, I was not happy. I tried to reason with him, but the wood was pretty much loaded at that point, and the cash was in my pocket and, frankly, I couldn't reason with him ... so now I'm looking around for someone else to deliver firewood before the cold season hits.

Last year, I bought firewood here and had a great experience. This year, I twice called and left messages indicating that I wanted to buy firewood, and neither time did they bother to return my call.

Mike showed up at noon, unloaded and stacked the wood to me length requirements. It was a mixture of hickory and oak, very good quality. I gave him a check for $350. I was very pleased with the service and would order from him again.

I couldn't get firewood from my usual person so I was able to get a hold of Mike Sturdivant and he brought me a large load of firewood in a terrible ice storm. It was amazing.

Was on time, very polite. The minute he arrived he started stacking the fire wood where I had my rack. (This far better than the guy I bought from last year who just dumped the wood in my driveway and left). This old Army gal couldn't be happier

Very prompt service. Delivered and stacked firewood in rack in the back of the house. Very nice coming home and not having a pile of firewood left someplace in the yard. Wood looks great and burns well. I will use Mike again for firewood!

I called Mike during a very busy rush so even though it took him a couple of calls to get set and to complete the order, I didn't worry about that. And he was conscientious about making sure I got wood that was the right size for my smaller wood stove. I'll be sure to order earlier, before the fall rush, next time.

Great guy, great service. Best firewood around hands down. I've been looking for awhile for wood of this caliber and Mike's got it. Wood is dry and well seasoned. Called this afternoon, he delivered a couple hours ago. Burning it now. I highly recommend Mike and his firewood for those who desire to have predictable and hot fires. I believe his price is well justified.

We had a fire that night and the wood is well seasoned (mostly oak) and burns great. This was a great experience, a little expensive, but worth the money. I will be buying my firewood from Mike from now on.

Mike returned my phone message the same day that I called. He was very friendly and easy to deal with over the phone and we set up an appointment for him to deliver the wood the following Saturday. He showed up on time and stacked the wood on the outdoor platform. I'm very happy with the quality of the wood. It's dry, evenly cut, and is a mix of hardwoods. There doesn't appear to be a bad piece in the lot. Considering that he is driving all the way from Pittsboro, I think his prices are fair. Frankly, I'm happy to pay a little extra for the reliable service and the quality of the hardwood. I will definitely use him again in the future.

A great value considering cost and quality. After buying firewood here for 26 years I have settled on Mike Sturdivant, this is my third year. His wood is high quality hardwood, well seasoned and dry, cut and split to fireplace size and ready to burn. I paid less early on but got a lot of mushy rot or knots and sometimes threw a bunch of it away, and had to split half of the good wood one more time. Sturdivant's wood is just the right length and split to fireplace size, clean, hard and dry and ready to go. All things considered I think it's a much better value than some less expensive wood which is not all usable and requires some more ax work to get it ready. And his engineering skills in stacking it on the sloping spot where I want it is impressive. Haven't found better wood.

Prompt & courteous response. Excellent quality wood: mostly red oak, some hickory. Well-seasoned. Burns hot & slow.

Mike did deliver and stack it and was polite and professional. However, I didn't feel like I got the advertised deal. First, his pick-up bed seemed only about 1/2 full and he started unloading it so quick there was no way to measure or verify the quantity. According to what I had seen on the web, 1/2 cord should definitely fill up a truck bed! I measured it afterward and came up with about 2/5 cord not 1/2. Also, only about 80% of the wood was oak. When I asked him about it he said "well, it's mostly oak....". It all burned nicely but I felt sort of shortchanged. I will look for alternatives in the future but go back to Mike if their prices are higher or if I'm not happy with their wood.
