Description of Work: They put in hardwood floor and stairs - removing carpeting, installing, sanding, and finishing the hardwood with a water based product. The quality of the work is the best anywhere you can find, particularly in terms of the end result, and their dedication, responsiveness, and professionalism toward the work they do. They treat your home with utmost care. Case in point, when they check the quality of the floor, they get on their hands and knees so they can feel/sense the minute differences in roughness/textures, especially near corners. If things need to be redone, they do it at their own cost. I can say these because I had some other company refinishing hardwood floor in other parts of my home. The average "reputable" company would not do some of the things I mentioned - they would do an average job that your eyes can see flaws in the finishing, e.g. "bald" spots in the coating, even foot prints, but when pointed they came up with reason not to rectify.

Overall it was good. John was punctual for his estimate. When I tried to communicate about the start date and what I needed to do to be prepared I did not recieve good communication. Catherine emailed me possible start dates, I emailed back my choice of start dates and then never recieved an email or call in return to confirm that they would be starting the work on that date. I emailed the week before to check whether they were coming the next week but never recieved an email or call back. My husband and I leave the house very early in the morning and we had no instructions about when the crew would show up or how they would gain entry to the house. We left a key under a mat and another email instructing them to call us if they showed up. Thankfully John did show up and when we were not answering the door, checked his email and then called my husband at work. The work was well done and a very clean process, they did reduce the price because my husband and I had moved almost all of the furniture for them the night before, which I found to be very fair and honest. They came back on Saturday when I asked because the area under the fridge had been sanded but not finished and they finished that area. But they left without telling me though I was home and upstairs, and then I got an unfriendly email from Catherine, no apology for lack of communication on her part, reiterating that the payment was due upon completion and that I had known this from the contract I signed. I had already put a check in the mail to them by the time I had recieved that email on Monday. I feel that customer service is not their strong point. The floors are beautiful and we are enjoying them.
Description of Work: Refinished wood flooring in kitchen, hallway, dining room and half bath, installed new solid wood, flush hot air registers.

Wonderful. I called and scheduled a visit right before we were closing on the purchase of the home. John (owner) showed up on time and sat and talked with me for a while to learn what I wanted and to explain the process. Then we walked through every room in the home and he measured and explained things. He gave me a quote that night. His quote was $1000 less than the other quote I received that day, and it included more material and labor (the other installer was not removing the newel posts etc. and installing new nosing, he was going to remove the white paint in place and refinish). John and his crew showed up on the scheduled day and got to work prepping the house (removing the carpeting, taking apart the newel posts etc., and removing the tack strips. The new nosing was also installed that day and the newels put back. The next day they repaired the subfloor (added screws, adjusted doorways, etc. and started laying the flooring. Everything looked great. The work continued for another day and then the sanding started. Once that was done the finish was applied, and finally the buff and coat downstairs. The entire process from start to finish took one week. I then aired out the house for a couple of days and moved in. The floors look amazing. When I went to make the final payment to John he told me that he had reduced the price by $400 as the stairs had come apart easier than expected. This brought the price to $1400 less than the competition.
Description of Work: Upstairs: Remove carpet; Supply and install 1100 s.f.of 2 ¼” red oak select; sand and finish w/3 coats Polysatin (natural) Stairs: Remove painted nosing and replace w/red oaknosing; reinstall newel posts, pickets and handrails, remove carpeting from stair treads, buff and coat existing stair treads Downstairs: Buff and coat downstairs: 1150 s.f.
