Mike, from Creative Electric, squeezed me into his already busy schedule on the day before July 4th. He did the job quickly, easily, and good-naturedly for less than I had estimated it was going to cost me. He even put up with my dog following him around, getting in his way, hoping to be pet. Was excellent and timely service. I will be hiring them for more projects around the house.
Description of Work: Some klutz, who, for the sake of simplicity I will refer to as "me", drilled a hole in a wall and hit a wire. "I" even managed to do this the day before a holiday weekend. "I" should have known better. Mike, from Creative Electric, replaced the wire and installed a new outlet that very same day. Awesome.

We dealt with Mike, the owner, and his apprentice. Both men showed on time, offered several cost-effective solutions to the issues at hand, and did quality work in all respects. Ultimately, it was a good experience.
Description of Work: They installed a lamp post in our front yard, an exterior light on the side of our garage, and a few light receptacles inside our garage.

Here are all the details. Mike and Lisa Sanfilippo of Creative Electric run a fantastic service for their customers. We have used their expertise several times and will continue to do so as long as we live as close as they are willing to drive to our house. This review is months late but it is only recently that we replaced a 10 year old computer that was so slow it was agony to walk into the same room with it. Our tardiness is NO reflection on the electrician being reviewed. As stated above, our electrical panel box was making spitting noises. Since I am terrified of house fires, we immediately called Creative Electric. When I told Mike on the other end of the line just that, he said, "Barbara, I am in my truck. Hold on a second." Seconds later, I heard his voice on another phone talking with his wife telling her that she needed to move all the afternoon appointments because he had an emergency. Then he was back with my phone saying he would be at our house at 1 PM. It was 12:30 at the time. OKAY. So now I get it. WE are the emergency. 'Guess I had a right to be worried about the spitting stuff. Mike arrived with his apprentice, Mikah. Wiggling and fussing with the first two of the 18 or 20 68 year old breakers in the panel box elicited instant proof of our complaint. At Mike's directive, out the door to the truck went Mikah to bring the replacement breaker while Mike continued to check more breakers. By the time Mikah returned, Mike was sending him out for two more. 'One more trip out together to find a specific breaker while I stood in front of the box. It spit at me again! Alone with the demon, I panicked, thinking "why oh why did they leave me alone here in this room with this dangerous snake?!" When they came back in, I told them about more spitting and my untoward fear. As they made the next trip out, Micah offered to wait with me so I wouldn't need to be worried. Nice apprentice! I liked his manner. After pulling breakers all over the box and seeing the amount of wear...and in some spots, scorch-y looks... on the connector metal, it was clear that something needed to be done more than replace a couple of breakers. When Mike said that to replace the box would be, perhaps, $1600 to $1800, we were not surprised but we calmly felt hysterical anyway. When we had awoken that morning, naïvely, the sun was rising to a beautiful day. But, we emphatically agreed that the deed needed to be done. Then Mike informed us with great regret that this meant he would be taking up residence in our kitchen for many hours. We sucked in our breath again and informed him that we could think of no better company than him and his apprentice for the day ...and night. Off they rode to get the new panel box. When Mike returned, he went directly to work as is always his wont. After several hours working relentlessly, uncomplainingly, unstoppingly, of carefully disconnecting wires from the old box and reconnecting into a shiny new box, installing new well-mannered breakers, with evening and then night darkness setting in, by flashlight, candlelight, and firefly (until we rigged up extension cords from the other main in the other side of the house for him), Mike reached the ultimate moment of trying all the electrical gadgets and lights in the house to correctly identify which breaker served which luxury. Ahhh! Complete! All that is left is to pack up the equipment and accept our hand-written check for ...oh! less than expected!! $1140. We gave him more. We hope he could at least imagine us waving warmly after him in the dark of the night as his taillights disappeared down the dirt road to the highway.
Description of Work: Came immediately to our house when we called to report that our main electrical panel was "spitting" at us when we walked near it. After excellent exploratory surgery to consider the overall condition of the elderly patient, we made a joint decision to completely replace it with a new, more mannerly box.

First class professionalism. The work involved removing the old wiring to and pole light at the driveway, installing new wiring in conduit in a trench and installing a new pole light; and running new outside wiring to an outlet box on the deck and installing a code-approved wet location covered outlet box. T In gathering information for the estimate Mike also answered questions about some other potential issues with helpful advice. The estimate was typed, detailed, and included itemized estimated labor and materials for each phase of the two projects. The work was scheduled and initiated on time. Lisa at the office kept me informed throughout when materials were being purchased and equipment returned. Appropriate care was exercised in digging the trench to minimize the impact on the landscaping. The initial inspection and final approval by the county was facilitated in a timely manner. When the final invoice came it was $3 less than the estimate based on the actual cost of materials. Not many businesses would do that! I can't think of anything I would want done differently and will always call them first from now on.
Description of Work: Installed new driveway pole light, upgraded wiring to landscape floodlights.

Mike was quick, very friendly, and did quality work. He was done in about 1 hour. It ended up that the new door bell was not loud enough to hear in my whole home. Mike offered to replace the one he installed with another one, if I found another one. He said he would not charge me more money to install it and he would also refund the price he paid for the bell he installed. I did find a louder bell and I ended up installing it myself (was pretty easy). Mike refunded me $20 for the bell he installed. Overall, I was happy.

Mike and Lisa work as a great team. Mike is very detailed. They even went above and beyond by detecting existing safety issues. After the Big Deal work was completed I continued to use them for follow up repairs. Mike communicated everything very clearly and was very personable. We feel like his charges were very reasonable. Most importantly we trust him completely and feel at ease with the work he has done for us. Time has passed and everything has held up great. We would go to them for any electrical needs.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for services. They fixed a defective doorbell and updated bathroom outlets. We also had him install a time for the front and back porch lights for security. Due to saftey code issues he also did some rewiring throughout the house.

This was the first time we used Angie's List and the service was excellent. This recommendation alone was well worth the cost of joining Angie's List. We did not know this electrician, but he managed to schedule us in right before Christmas and he was professional, prompt and the price was fair. He diagnosed the problem and solved it. Could not ask for better service.

Setting up the appointment and estimate appointment was easy. As others reviewers have mentioned, Mike is in heavy demand, so an immediate appointment is not usually available but is very much worth the wait. Mike was the second company I contacted about both of these projects. When I explained that the vanity light had no light box or beam to attach to he came up with a creative solution so that the fixture could stay in place since it was so heavy. As far as the foyer fixture, the other company wasn't even sure what to do since the stair and landing is in the middle of the space where the ladder would normally go. The other company never called me back but Mike was confident he could handle the project with his helper. They arrived on time and worked efficiently. Mike's helper began assembling the foyer light when Mike noticed that it didn't appear to be the fixture I had described. They kept working while I tracked down the correct fixture which resulted in a small additional waiting charge (but totally my own fault for not checking that I had the right light, so glad Mike caught it!). Extremely happy with the efficiency and professionalism of this company and plan on using them again as I do more updates to my home.

Excellent! Excellent! Professional attitude, quality service, creative ideas. He came to evaluate the job beforehand and discussed different options and how to execute in the most efficient way. Gave a good estimate based on others I interviewed. Great personality, easy to talk to, fantastic work ethic... someone who would make their mother proud! I would not consider hiring anyone else unless he retired! He's very busy, most likely because of these things, so call him as much in advance as you can to book him. You will be very pleased with his work!
Description of Work: Moved light switches to adjacent wall, added a ceiling light, removed outlets on a wall being removed. The job description may not sound like much but it required skillful planning and was a lot of work in the house and crawl space.

Mike is in great demand so my appointment with him was not immediate but on the appointed day he showed up right on time. Mike is very friendly and is great about walking you through whatever problems he finds and how he will solve those problems. He will show you the defective parts & explain what has happened to them. He replaced several outlets and a light switch and did troubleshooting on some ceiling fixtures. He worked quickly and efficiently and I was surprised at how reasonable the bill was. I'd recommend Mike to anyone. (His wife Lisa answers the phone and she's lovely to talk to).

My wife was running a carpet cleaner in our bedroom when we lost power to all the electrical outlets in the room. We tried to reset the circuit breaker but still had no power. We began searching for trouble shooting tips on the internet which said the next step should be to replace the individual circuit breaker. I went to the store and bought a new circuit breaker for about $6 and replaced the old one but still had now power to the outlets in our room. The next morning I began searching Angie's List for electrical service. After narrowing my choices down to about three providers I began making pone calls. The first one wanted to be paid just for an estimate so they were ruled out. The second one said he could come out the following day so I made an appointment. I then called Creative Electric to see if by chance they could come out the same day. Lisa was very nice and said that she would call Mike and see if he could squeeze me in that afternoon. She called right back and said that he could come by late that afternoon and look it over so I canceled the appointment with the other service provider. Mike called a few hours later and said that he was on his way over which allowed me time to put my dogs in their pens to avoid their interruption. Mike was very personable and got right to work. After I explained what had happened, and what I had already done, he said that sometimes a high powered appliance can cause a disruption to a circuit that was loosely connected but otherwise worked fine. After asking a few questions about where things had been plugged in and looking at how the circuit was laid out he focused on an outlet behind the dresser that had a large AC adapter plugged into it. He noted that sometimes when furniture is pushed up against the large AC adapters they force the outlet back into the box and cause the wiring (when it is pushed in to the back of the outlet rather than screwed onto the side) to come loose. The wiring in that particular outlet was indeed loose and Mike quickly repaired it and the circuit worked fine. He cleaned up and told me to give him a call if there were any further problems. I went around and plugged in all the lamps, computer, and reset the alarm clocks. A short time later, I came back into the room and found that the power was again out. I reset the circuit breaker and again had no power to that circuit. I called Mike back (he had just arrived back at home) and he said he would come right back out but I told him I would be fine waiting until the next morning. He suggested that I check each of the other outlets on the circuit (6 outlets) and if I felt comfortable doing so to re-wire each of the other outlets the same way he had done the one behind the dresser ( he emphasized the obvious precaution of making sure that there was no power to the each outlet before beginning any work on that outlet to avoid electrocution). The following morning I went ahead and pulled all the other outlets from the wall and re-wired each one by screwing wires onto the side posts (as he had done) instead of having them inserted into the back as the builder had them. That, however, did not fix the problem. Mike arrived shortly thereafter, and upon seeing what I had done, rechecked each outlet to make sure they were wired properly, then focused on the wall switches for the room. The wall switches in the bedroom controlled the ceiling lights and ceiling fan as well as the outlets, and the circuit breaker controlled all of them, but the lights and ceiling fan worked fine while the outlets did not. Mike took apart and re-wired the wall switches and the problem was solved. He refused to accept further payment for the return trip and promised to return again if there were any further problems, which has not been necessary. I was extremely happy with the cheerful eagerness and professionalism exhibited by both Mike and Lisa and will certainly not hesitate to call on them again in the future.
