Description of Work: I called to get an estimate for a roof leak. Mr. Harts returned my call immediately. However, it turns out his company specializes in new roofing/entire roof replacement and not small roof repairs. So I was not able to use their services. I would call again if I needed an entire roof replacement because I found Mr. Harts to be knowledgeable and professional during our conversations.

Description of Work: Derek Harts owns and operates a fantastic business. We recently needed some exterior home renovations, and we hired Harts over two other companies. I cannot say enough about Derek and his staff, the quality of his work and products, and the timeliness in the manner of job completion. Our 42 year old home now looks like brand new. We have high quality Windows, all new high quality vinyl siding and trim, a new roof with architectural shingles and vents, new exterior doors, and new exterior light fixtures. Mr. Harts' employees were friendly, expertly efficient and knowledgeable, and never left a "mess" after working all day. In addition, Mr Harts supervised and inspected the work daily making sure that all work was completed perfectly. He did all that we asked and was so agreeable even when I changed my mind about a few things. Along the way there were a few unexpected problems due to some hidden damage but the work required to fix these problems was quickly and efficiently handled with very little to no extra expense. We were so pleased to have all work done under "our budget"! Derek is the best contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and I highly recommend him and his company for all of your home needs! This is a 10+ company!

Description of Work: I have a leaking shingle roof. I asked the contractor to inspect it and give me a repair quote. Although seemingly nice and was swift to respond to my telephone message to him, the contractor never followed up on his visit and promise to send me his quote for repairs. He had my telephone number, my physical address, as well as my email address. I waited long enough, well beyond a reasonable time, and will now retain the service of another contractor.

 + 0 more.We met Mr. Harts at a home show in New Bern, NC. He was dressed as the "Tin Man" from the wizard of OZ. He was very knowledgeable and explained his work ethics and about his company. Later, Mr. Harts came out to our home. He measured the area he was going to be working on, and explained his products and how the process would go if we chose him to do the work. We chose him out of 4 bids even though his was the most expensive. We didn't care for the other three. Mr. Harts wanted to take the shingles off of the roof and check the wood on the roof before he put anything down on it. His crew came out on the day and time he said they would. They were prompt, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. They did the roof first. Then the windows. That crew was a different crew and very fast. One window the manufacturer had sent was the wrong size. Mr. Harts sent it back and ordered the replacement one. It came in just when Mr. Harts said it would. He rescheduled a time that was convenient for us. The next crew was the gutter crew. They were fast and efficient. We couldn't be happier. When the crews were finished Mr. Harts came out and made sure the jobs were done properly. Just exactly what you want in a repairman.
Description of Work: Replaced shingle roof with metal roof 7 upgraded /replaced house windows put on new larger gutters.Mr. Harts was very professional. He was the most expensive but I think that "you get what you pay for applies here.

 + -1 moreMr. Harts inspected the inside and outside of all of our roofing, both in and over the attic as well as in and over the siding. Then he carefully showed me what he identified as possible problem issues, although none of them immediate issues. We so appreciated the thorough professional exam, as a roof leak is about the most costly/damaging event that can happen to a house - and so hard to discern! If windows aren't working, or appliances stop short, or paint is peeling, you can SEE it on a daily basis. A roof is different; it takes a knowledgeable eye to evaluate it thoroughly. We will definitely use his company's services as we address the identified issues. At my insistence, he also evaluated a sister issue of window replacement we have been considering - in which his company also specializes. At my request, he gave us a written estimate of the cost of replacing two windows - which, again, are not immediate issues, but are important to be fully assessed so one knows where to put them on one's To Do List ! Really wonderful to get this assessment in our house records, so that it may take it's place at Budget Time talks.
Description of Work: Complete assessment of our fifteen yr old roofing, over our 6 bedrm/ 2 story home with garage, including fireplace. Derek Harts reviewed our roofing from outside and inside of roof. He found 3 areas that should be addressed within next couple of years, or could be addressed right now. I found this very competent business on Angie's List Specials site - a wonderful way to be introduced to a housing matters business.

 + -1 moreWOW!!! Derek is such a nice man and a PLEASURE to do business with! He was always courteous on the phone and returned my phone calls promptly! He did what he said he would do, when he said he'd do it. He's a respectable and honest man. I seriously can't say enough nice things about him! My husband built a shed in our backyard before he deployed, and unfortunately didn't have time to complete the fascia trim work. Although this was a small job, I was never treated like it was. It was so refreshing to find someone to help me out while my husband was deployed that WASN'T trying to take advantage of me. I was quoted 10 times the price from other companies. I may be a woman, but I know when people are trying to rip me off. I'm very pleased to say that Harts was NOT one of those companies. Derek's team came and did the job while I was at work, which really helped me out. When I got home, it was all done! What a wonderful feeling!!! The extra material was neatly left and everything else was picked up. You wouldn't have even been able to tell that anyone had been there! No little pieces of the trim coil were left on the ground or anything! That's something you don't see every day, for sure! Usually contractors leave trash all over the worksite, and the homeowner is left to clean it up. Not to mention the workmanship itself was great! I'm very impressed with the way it turned out. They couldn?t have done a better job!!!! In today's day and age, it's hard to find honest, trustworthy, hardworking companies. I'm SO excited I have found one to add to my contact list! I will DEFINITELY call Harts again if I'm ever in need of their service!!

Description of Work: I know that most, if not all of these reviews are from people who have already used these services, but I just had to go ahead and give my "review" of Derek Hart of Harts Windows and Siding. Despite the fact that no work has been done yet, I think my experience with him so far speaks volumes of what he would do on the job. I called Derek after seeing all these positive reviews, wanting to find out more about his company, rates, etc. My husband and I are in the midst of a home inspection on a new home, and may have to replace some windows that are fogged and starting to rot. When I called Derek, even though he could have asked me to call him later or asked if he could call me back, he stopped what he was doing to take my call. I proceeded to ask him a bunch of questions, and not once did he rush me or make me feel like I was being too picky to ask something. Just from talking to him for those 15 minutes, with the way he answered my questions, giving me his honest opinion but also understanding our financial concerns, etc, I could tell right away that he would do whatever you asked him to...superbly. It was a "feeling," but it was a very strong one. He was honest and soft-spoken, but you could tell he knew what he was doing. And as if that wasn't enough, when I happened to mention some other issues we were having with this house, he quickly recommended a few other service contractors, prefacing the statement with "I feel very good about recommending these people because I know they are honest and reasonable and would never do a bad job." So in summary...yes, Derek hasn't replaced a window for me yet, but just look at the other reviews for that, and then couple that with mine, which should show that he is a very nice guy, even when he knows he may not get the job. Now that says a lot! PS He did say he had done a lot of work for people in the neighborhood of the house I was looking at, and that he would be happy to email me their information so I could ask them about his work. And he offered that...I didn't ask!

 + -1 moreWe can't say enough good things about our experience with Harts Window and Siding. Our experience was extremely positive from start to finish. First, we set up an appointment to have Mr. Hart look at our roof and give us a written quote. He arrived to meet with us at the exact date and time we set up which was refreshing because we've had a lot of work done to our house where people showed up at their convenience. He gave us a very fair price and then offered a discount if we committed to the job when he met with us. We took him up on this since we already knew we wanted his company to do the job. We also wanted to move ahead quickly on the job so he called us the next day as he promised he would do to let us know when the shingles would be delivered and when his crew would start the job. Again, both of these dates and times were when he promised. On the day the job started, he had one of his crews doing the work but he was here when it started and checked back frequently throughout the project to make sure things were going as they should. We appreciated this since it made us feel it would be done right. His crew working on our roof were great too. They made sure we had clear, safe walk-ways in and out of the house as they worked.They acted professionally at all times and kept us informed of the progress each day. They cleaned up both debris in the yard and nails as they went along and scanned for nails at the end of each day. When the job was finished, Mr. Hart personnaly came back again and scanned for any nails that might have been missed. In the end, we had beautiful roof and a very positive experience. We have already recommended him to several friends.

 + 2 moreWe had damage from Hurricane Irene, they came out and replaced the whole roof, boards that were damage. There was siding missing on our house and a window seal had broke. I could not believe that he was able to match my siding exact. You cant even tell, he knows what he doing, he was able to find the company that made the original siding. Looks really good, my house looks even better with the new roof. Very professional, I would use him again. I am having him come out and put some siding on my shed. I was very happy with his work.
