What went well: quality of windows (Andersen 400 series) met expectations, installation was done by a competent, professional team. What didn't go well: Communication. My windows needed to be measured twice because the first measurements weren't properly recorded. But even with two measurements, when my windows arrived 6 months later I only got 8 of the 9 I ordered, only 2 of the 3 windows I ordered with Smart Sun can as smart sun, and 4 of the 8 windows were 2 inches to wide. I was also told by management that the install team worked on Saturdays, only to have hte install team tell me they didn't. So Communication is 1 out of 5 stars.

After 4 months of dealing with this company, project is still not complete. This was to be a very small job replacing windows sash kits. Workers have been to my home no less than seven times now to fix damages and mistakes. See some photos below. Very poor workmanship. Weeks go by before receiving responses to calls or emails. Appointments were completely forgotten. Owner has used very unprofessional, abusive language. Deflects blame. When I voiced my complaints, I was told I was "acting like a 5 yo" and when I became tearful after coming home multiple times to damages to my first home with no communication from his workers, he told me, "when you cried on the phone I thought someone was wrong with you". Horrible communication with his staff-he blames them, they blame him for mistakes. They have told me he's gotten himself in trouble before speaking this way to customers and they he often speaks to them in this same manner. I am still in the process of requesting a concession which the own stated he would only give me if I agreed not to post any reviews or contact the Better Business Bureau. Poor business ethics.

My wife and I finally decided to replace the windows in our home...yes, all 32 of them! We shopped various window manufacturers and local suppliers, finally settling on Anderson E-Series from Window Works Co. to handle the project. As you can imaging it was a sizable project especially since all the window turned out to be custom sizes. Jeff Reif (owner) and Justin were very knowledgeable and patient with us as we navigated our way to our final choice of window type / stain finish that would best suit our home style and decor. A few months after ordering the windows finally arrived and the day came to begin the tear-out and replacement. Our job went very straightforward thanks to the most professional & skilled craftsmen used by Window Works. Special thanks to each of them (Scott, Will, Mark, Jason & John) as they paid such close attention to detail on each and every window replaced, all while being extremely neat and respectful. Choosing the right window for your home is a big decision and in my opinion only half the equation... Choosing the right supplier of that window is equally important. For us Window Works & Co was the right supplier as they were knowledgeable, patient in working with us throughout the entire project while providing an experienced & highly skilled installation crew. The entire installation took 5-days and now that it's done, we love our new windows and recommend Window Works without any hesitation!

Jeff was 25 minutes late and he offered no apology. He offered a good window for a fair price but was in such a hurry I didn't have a chance to ask about capping the wood trim.

There was a waiting period, it took a couple months. What they did well was, the selection of the window we decided to go with, the instillation and the finishing of the windows.

First I would like to say that overall I am pleased with the new door and window side pieces and glad that we replaced our old patio door that had water damage. I also feel that the guys who did the install behaved professionally, were friendly, worked hard and deserved the tip that they received. We originally went to Window Works in Cary before the holiday hoping to have our patio door replaced quickly. We met with Jeff and asked him to show us options for Anderson products to replace our patio door and side panels. Since they had a busy schedule we returned at the beginning of January to place our order and pay the 50% deposit. We were told that our order would probably there in about 2 weeks but it would likely be about 6 weeks before the install. When paying and signing the contract I scribbled on a few notes that Jeff reviewed. I discussed with him that (I assume like most people) we had an issue in the past of not having work done professionally or needing to have others clean up afterwards and I wanted to be sure there was a clear agreement between us. The work is completed now and overall we are pleased. However there were some issues that we are not so pleased with about the final results. I will list them and try to post pictures to clarify and let you decide if you would be pleased. 1. Upon final inspection before the installers left, I noticed that the grills don't match the door and side pieces. When I asked them if that was typical they stated they didn't think they had ever seen that before and they were certain it was never an issue with Anderson doors. I stated that they were Anderson and they let me know the product I have is Therma-Tru. I was also told that Anderson are considerably more expensive and that I should check my contract. On viewing the contract I noticed that it says Anderson Windows and has that Anderson logo but under details it also mentions Therma-Tru Fiberglass which when ordering I thought was the type of Anderson door since that was the only brand we discussed. My mistake for not having that clarified but there is no way I would have knowingly ordered a "no-name" brand that I never heard of before. 2. So the Therma-Tru door looks nice and is fine but certainly I can't leave it with grills that don't match so that was a big concern for me. Jeff then told us that the door needs to be painted and within a certain time period in order to not void the warranty. Weather strip and hardware removed and all 6 sides painted order to keep the warranty on the door according to the manufacturer! (I had asked Jeff prior to ordering if painting the door was included and he did tell me that it wasn't but he also said the door would be fiberglass so I wouldn't have the same issues I had with our painted wooden door but I could paint it another color if I wanted.) If I had known about this I would have at the very least schedule painters to be there the day after the install. 3.They added quarter-round molding all the way across under the 2 side pieces and the door. I have never seen a piece like that under a door opening and think it looks odd. (This also needs to be painted) 4. Threshold has several pieces in various colors and to me it doesn't look great that way and one part is raw wood and needs to be painted. 5. There are "black" pieces used for threshold and under side pieces. I think it is an odd color to use with such light colors on the home but I think it looks fine for the door threshold but really strange and ugly under side sections. It looks like they are thresholds to walk on up to the windows. (Even worse that pieces shows inside and due to the material will need to be treated differently for painting )Personally I have never seen this before at the bottom of window pieces. New style?? 6. Lots of nail holes showing that will need to be filled 7. The flashing was showing under the door and it looked awful. When I told the installers that I really couldn’t accept that they found a nice solution and fixed it. So that part turned out nicely. 8. They didn't clean the door or glass. NOT a huge deal for me in this case but I certainly feel that it should have been cleaned. If you are ordering windows or doors I'd highly suggest that you write CLEAN All on the contract. ( If you buy thousands or 10's of thousands worth of windows for your place you shouldn't expect to have to spend days cleaning inside and outside of all the new windows.) (BTW, on our first visit we did let Jeff know that one of our next projects was going to be replacing all of the old windows in our home. We had scheduled for him to measure for the windows before the holiday but decided to wait until we had the new door installed) 9. When we told Jeff that overall we were pleased with the new door but had some issues he asked us to send pictures and did agree to stop by. He states that pictures look great and when he stopped by just kept telling us how amazing he feels it looks. 10. Another huge issue is that the following day I found out that I can’t have any blinds or curtains installed on the door for privacy!!! Um, I sure could have used that info from Jeff prior to ordering- thanks:( Therma-tru states that can void the warranty and that the solution would be to replace the new glass pieces and purchase new glass with the blinds inside! Certainly I don’t want to pay to replace the new glass but even if I did that would still mean I can’t put up the custom made valances that I had made! (ATM, missing the old door.)

Jeff and Justin are trustworthy and easy to work with. Jeff has a no BS approach and was genuinely interested in educating us about windows and doors. Since this was the first time we ever had to replace windows, his insight and experience were invaluable. He also has a great sense of design as he recommended casement windows rather than traditional to keep with the style of our home. Jeff and Justin have been responsive to all of our many questions. Jeff's installation team was on-time, professional and left our home clean. Advice: if you're considering replacement windows and thinking of Home Depot or Lowe's - don't do it. Jeff and Justin are local and they did the work for less than the big box stores. And, we know we can count on Jeff and Justin should we have any problems in the future. We love our Andersen windows and got the best deal and two new friends.
