Great job.

Took a chance on this tree service since it was listed on Angie's List. Actual work was well done and rather quickly. Other parts of the experience did not go as well. Owner Robert Underwood set up appt to come out and look over job and quoted more work, which we considered. Time line as follows: 12/19/2011 Robert Underwood came out and looked over work and told me how much coupon would cover and what else he recommended. 12/20/2011 spoke with Robert and gave decision to have just work coupon covered done. Told to call back for an appt. 1/2/2012 Took 3 calls to connect and tell them scope of work. Still nodate. Wanted to wait and combine with another job since ours was small. We were ok with that. 2/6/2012 Came home from a walk and found crew in yard preparing to do work! No notice, no call, just there. Crew was quite efficient and did an amazing job! The official tree guy astounded us with his proficiency and professionalism. Branches were lowered carefully and the house was never in danger of being hit or damaged in any way. Limbs and leaves were chipped on spot. I stayed with them and he checked to make sure he was taking off what we wanted. We disagreed on one tree that Robert had said would be included, but the worker said he wasn't told about it and so it was not done. 2/15/12 Robert called and left msg to see if we were satisfied with work and did it meet expectations. I called him back to tell him the disagreement over the one pine tree and that they were here barely an hour. He told me travel time was included in the job, but that he would put the pine tree on a list for them to come out and take care of. I haven't heard from or seen anyone from Underwood since and the tree is still awaiting pruning. They were here for not quite an hour and of that time only 25 mins of actual trimming. They did chip limbs and clean up well. The actual work and cleanup was beyond reproach, but the other problems would keep me from using them again, which is a shame! One question I do have however is why no tree tar so the branches pruned don't grow back? Strange. I guess the resulting work was exemplary, but to have to deal with all the other things is just not worth it! Seeing as how the owner was involved all along, I find it hard to believe that another experience with them would be any different.

They did a great job and they got it done quickly. What a difference it made in the backyard. I would really recommend them. I think that I felt much better knowing they were insured, and as arborists they were able to make proper recommendations about what not to cut.

.We had used Underwood Tree Services in the past and we were always satisfied with their work. They were the only estimate we got.. After we recieved the estimate we were able to negoiate on the price some. When a price was agreed to and we gave them the okay to do the work they were out here the very next day at the time they said they would be here. They completed all the requested work by 4PM. They cleaned up everything and took all the trimming with them. The only complaint we have is their wood chipper has an oil leak so it left stains on the street in front of our house. Other than that we were very satisfied with everything that was done. They even did some extra trimmingwe had not requested on some evergreen trees and did not charge us for it.

When Mr Underwood arrived the estimated that it would cost an additional $350 to remove the tree. I told him that I thought the price should be less because two years earlier I had paid another tree service provider less than that to remove two mimosa trees about the same size. He told me that was the best price he could give me and that I could ask AngiesList to refund the $100 I had paid for the service coupon. I thanked him for his estimate and after he left then checked with some other tree service providers on AngiesList. Davey Tree removed the tree for $330 and it only took them 90 minutes to do it. So, I called AngiesList and asked for a refund which they gave me.

I purchased the $99 for $250 of work through Twongo. I had no previous experience with a tree service at all, so I called with questions. I had to leave a message, but someone got back to me within a reasonable time (a Mr. Tidwell, I believe.) I initially told him that I had a small tree to cut down, and he told me the Twongo deal would cover that. I asked him what it generally costs to have a small tree cut, and he would not give me a direct answer; he said it just depended on the tree, size, location, etc. (which is understandable, but I couldn't help but wonder how he knew the coupon would cover removal of my tree, since he hadn't seen it yet, if everything depended on these variables.) I then asked if the coupon might cover cutting the tree and grinding the stump, and he responded in a hostile tone with something very much like "Look, you paid $99 for the Twongo deal, you can't expect us to do both." That may well be true, but since I didn't know anything about these services, I needed to ask. Furthermore, I was disappointed to hear him refer to what I paid, as I had thought we were dealing with the $250 it was supposed to be worth. That's the whole point of purchasing a Twongo type of deal, right? In any case, his response seemed rude to me, and certainly he never gave me the information I requested repeatedly (how much should I expect to pay to have a small tree removed and the stump grinded?) Having said all of that, I left for work on the morning that the work was promised, and when I came home that day, it was done. It would have been nice if they had cleaned up a little better - they left twigs, leaves, and tons of shavings behind - but again, I don't really know what to expect in this situation. Maybe that's the standard level of cleanup in the tree service industry. My conclusion is that I might call this company again based on the work, but I would definitely shop around first. And I would never purchase a Twongo, Groupon, Angie's Big Deal, etc. for them, because their guy definitely conveyed to me that he was thinking of what I paid more than what the value was supposed to be. I still don't know if I got $250 worth of work. Might have been the best deal ever or just so-so.

Mr. Underwood has consistantly performed professionally and with integrity over the years. He has done many jobs for me and some of my closest friends. He has always been very competitive in his bids and none of us hesitate to refer him to other people we know. I greatly appreciate his expertise and his long range vision for managing the trees on my property.

It went very, very well, and I would DEFINITELY use them again. I contacted Rob on Sunday, he came out on Monday and gave me an estimate, and the service was done on Friday of the same week. Rob and his crew arrived on time, and everyone was very conscientious about where the trees should fall and about cleaning up all the debris from the fallen trees. They were done with this job in around 6 hours. I was very happy with their service.

Very prompt hard working crew. Cleared exactly what I told them and chipped or otherwise disposed of the cuttings. I told them how much I had to spend and they made it work. Robert Underwood has done a number of other jobs for me and has always been very professional to work with.

They were prompt, did exactly what I wanted done and were professional. They even did a little bit more in order to round out the Big Deal.

I had an interesting experience with Underwood. They use an answering service, and the individual answering professes no connection or responsibility for the company. (I really prefer to talk to the owner of a business.) I had a VERY hard time getting a call back to make an appointment, apx 3 weeks. When I did get a call back the person who returned my call announced that he didn't handle the Angie's list business for the company and I'd need to talk to another person. Another 3 weeks went by... The individual who finally returned my call and came out was Leslie Tidwell - a really nice guy who informed me I'd probably need to wait another 2 weeks for the work. Two weeks came and went, no call. I called back and complained to the answering service guy who got upset at me - lol About 5 days later on a wednesday morning about 10 am Leslie Tidwell called me and apologized and said his guys would be there in an hour (!). Apparently Leslie thinks I just wait around the house all day long waiting for his call and can make the property available to his crews at a moment's notice. But since I had had so much trouble getting them out I decided to drop what I was doing and go home to meet his crew. I was going to really blast this company, but... his guys did an excellent job, well above average work, and they cleaned up exceptionally well. Way above average. So... you decide if the incredible exasperation of getting these guys out to the job is worthwhile. When they finally get there they do an exceptional job. Good Luck!

Very professional and the men worked very hard.

Large tree was removed in our rear yard, that was just a few feet from our property. Hard to get a hold of the owner sometimes to schedule it, but once they were here, They did a great job of removing it and left the job site clean. The person removing the tree had to scale it and saw it down bit by bit because there wasn't enough room to bring any large equipment through our yard. It was amazing.

I was fortunate to discover Underwood Tree Service through a Twongo deal back in the winter, so I got a great 50% off deal. Before spending this much money, I spent a little time doing my research about this business online first (Angie's List and other online reviews). I contacted the owner, Robert Underwood, to see if he would come out and take a look at the pruning work I needed done to make sure I could get it done with the 3 hours that the Twongo deal covered. Robert was very responsive, coming right out to meet with me. He was very professional and personable. I decided to make the Twongo purchase and told Robert that he could let me know when his crew was already going to be in my area to do the work since there was no urgency. I got a call from Robert stating they could come out on the afternoon of 3/21/2011. The crew did a great job leaving clean cuts where limbs were removed and cleaning up after themselves. They even took out a small (dead) Leyland Cypress for me in addition to the pruning because they had a little bit of time left. I am quite pleased with the work that was done and would definitely recommend Underwood Tree Service to others!

Mr. Underwood and his staff were amazing. You couldn't even tell they had been here except the trees were gone. They did exactly what was asked without any other damage.

From the first phone call, working with Mr. Underwood was a pleasure. He came promptly and submitted an extremely fair offer for the job. This was part of a larger landscaping project and he was able to work me in very quickly. His crew did the work without any interaction from me and I am very satisfied with the results. In the past I have had three other tree guys on my lot and each of them damaged surrounding trees and left me with lots of clean-up and detail work after they finished. Mr. Underwood and his crew were quite thorough and except for the missing trees, I couldn't tell they had been here. I was so relieved that he and his crew did what they said, took pride in their work, didn't damage anything around the trees and did a great job cleaning up after the task was completed.
