Tom's company did an excellent job installing our new roof. Very pleased with the outcome.

Tom Buzzard Company recently replaced our nearly 20-year-old roof. We were impressed with how professional and responsive Tom was as well as the crew that was sent to complete the job. We love the look of our new roof, the care they took in completing the job, and the level of detail the crew paid in cleaning up our property. We highly recommend this company!

I called for an estimate and Tom came with a 26 page detailed proposal. He answered all of my questions and we picked two shingle styles. He sent me addresses of four houses with each of those shingles to help me decide. Installation of the roof took two days after the materials arrived and the weather was clear. I was also replacing three skylights and the one ordered were the wrong size. Not a problem. Just a few days delay for the correct ones to arrive. Pablo and his crew were very professional and respectful of my property. The final bill was exactly the same as the estimate plus the cost of the sheets of plywood that had to be replaced. In my case eight. And the new roof is beautiful!

Just had a roof done by Tom and his crew. I absolutely loved the attention to detail, complete punctuality, and updates from Tom. I can tell that Tom cares at a personal level. Absolutely fantastic workmanship by his crew, and absolutely fantastic communication! On another note, what completely turned me off to other contractors is that I asked them for an estimate for my roof, and they typically would not answer me when I asked for an estimate or asked them for a timeframe for the job. If I had to call multiple times I scratched them off of my list. I don't like doing other people's public relations jobs for them. Those other contractors lost out on thousands of dollars because they don't seem to care about their customers. Thank you so much Tom! Best customer service along with excellent workmanship from your crew. So refreshing for me to know that there is a company out there still that truly cares about their customers, punctual communications, and the finished product!

It went well except for weather delays. The crew was very professional and courteous. The clean-up was excellent. The cost was actually lower than I had expected from the estimate. I would highly recommend this company to anybody in need of such services. The crew is permanent and well trained.

They did a very thorough job. They have been doing this kind of work for a long time. The workers were very good at what they were doing and worked quickly. They also cleaned up very well.

I left a message for Mr. Tom Buzzard explaining that I wanted to have my roof inspected and repaired and/or replaced. I also explained that I had a 1915 house with a tin roof. He called back and said that the services I needed he didn't do and he would refer me to someone else. I said "Great. Let me explain that my roof is an original tin roof of a 1915 house. I want to make sure that the person you recommend handles such roofs." He said, "I don't like this conversation. I'm hanging up now." He hung up on me. I was completely baffled.

The TBC crew took two days to install a new roofing system on my home. The actual time spent working on my roof passed mostly uneventfully. The CertainTeed shingles and their overall installation look pretty good, as do the ridge vent and skylight that were installed. TBC's use of and charges for extra materials seemed reasonable to me. After the crew had completed their work and cleanup, I noticed the following problems: Although I witnessed workers sweeping my yard with their magnetic wands designed to pick up stray nails, I found over 100 roofing nails in my yard, including several on or near my driveway. A piece of my wooden deck was broken off, presumably from workers climbing or using equipment on the deck. TBC workers used an extension cord of mine that I had stored outside. I wouldn't mind this, really, except that that particular extension cord had been accidentally severed and subsequently spliced together, and when the TBC workers used the cord, the spliced wires separated. I got a call from the crew's foreman requesting that I come home to flip a breaker on as the power had been disrupted, so there's a chance that the power was knocked out when the spliced wires came apart. This also caused my AC fuses to be blown and need to be replaced. I found a hole in my garage ceiling (sheetrock)--it had been punctured by a piece of plywood. This was repaired professionally at TBC's expense immediately and without resistance from TBC. I hired the same home inspector who inspected my home when I purchased it to inspect the roofing job TBC had done. He submitted a report to me which I forwarded on to TBC. Findings included large gouges in shingles, torn shingles, and mishung shingles over gutters. TBC repaired the gouges and torn shingles, but disputed the latter contention and made no changes to the shingles that hang over the gutters. (So it's one contractors opinion vs. another's--who's correct?) Now for the most significant issue: TBC installed my new roof during the drought of 2007, so there was no significant downpour of rain for over two months after the roof was installed. During/after the first hard rain since the new roof was installed, I noticed my kitchen ceiling becoming discolored due to a water leak from the roof. I discovered that the leak was coming from around a chimney vent. I called Tom and he sent his inspector promptly. *After the inspector applied a large amount of silicon sealant around the vent's flashing-roofing junction, he (and later, Tom) told me that the leak was "an HVAC issue" and that TBC could do nothing to repair the leak. Tom did tell me that if an HVAC professional said that the leak was caused by roofers, he'd talk to me then. Other than that, he assumed no liability--not even admitting that his crew might have inadvertently caused the leak. Technicalities aside, one thing is clear: my roof didn't leak (for 20 years) until AFTER the TBC crew replaced my roof. UPDATE: After discovering that this partly negative review had been posted here, I received a "Thank You" card in the mail from Tom Buzzard--not for the review, of course, but thanking me for my business. Included was a check for $250 and Tom's assertion that he genuinely thought he had adequately addressed the roof leak (see section after * above). As for the leak itself, turns out it wasn't even coming from around the vent stack. First, when my brother-in-law (an experienced contractor and home builder in another state) visited, he inspected the roof for the source of the leak. He was unable to locate a definitive cause. He applied sealant in a few places, but the leak persisted (dripping water still being caught in a bucket in attic). A few months later, we hired a local contractor to perform some home repairs. He said that he worked for a couple of decades in the roofing business and wanted to take a look at the roof to determine if he could locate the source of the leak. Although he was unable to precisely locate from where the leak was originating, he thought that it was actually originating from somewhere around the top of the skylight. So he installed a rain diverter just above one side of the skylight and--presto!!--no more leak. The $250 that Tom sent me more than covered the contractor's fee for eliminating the roof leak, so, in a roundabout way, I guess Tom Buzzard did ultimately help resolve my primary complaint with the service his company provided me.

Totally professional in all respects. Crew arrived right on time, and all crew work continually until job was completed, except for 1 hour break at midday each day. Not a single negative comment from this customer.

We were very favorably impressed by Tom Buzzard s prompt responses to all our questions and concerns related to the project. To help us in the selection of roofing style and color, Tom provided us a list of roofing installations recently completed by his company in our neighborhood. Also, the timeliness and quality of all work done by Tom Buzzard s crews fully met our expectations. Each crew member was friendly, highly skilled and worked hard to complete the job. Tom Buzzard insisted that no payment be made to his company until we were completely satisfied with all work done on our home. We highly recommend Tom Buzzard Company to anyone contemplating improvements on roofing, gutters or skylights.

We had used Tom's services in the past for repairs on the roof and the repairs had been done efficiently and for a reasonable cost. We had good reports from Angie's List as well as referrals from others who had used his services. His crew was efficient, timely and worked as a great team. I have never seen a group of 10-12 people work so hard or so efficiently. They were polite, cleaned up after themselves, and also removed an old metal flat roof, and replaced rotten facia board where the metal roof had been, primed and painted the new wood and just did a totally professional job all in only a couple of days. Tom came each day to check and monitor all the work and even told us about vent pipes that needed to be removed that were rusted out from two old furnaces. We contacted the HVAC contractors who had install the two new furnaces and insisted the vent pipes be removed before the roofing was completed. The final bill was in keeping with the estimate and the work.

His staff was very professional. The quality was work was very good. He was punctual and the work was completed in the 2.5 day time frame. We were very pleased with the clean-up, there was no damage to shrubbery and no problems after the job. The final cost was $300-$400 less than the original quote due to less materials being used.

It started fast, for sure. The crew seemed to work well together. They cleaned up the driveway to the garage after the first day which was appreciated. They finished up early on the second day and took all the remaining material and left. I was not at home when they departed but during that second day (a Friday) they appeared to be hurried and anxious to finish the job. After they left I asked Tom for the documentation on the new skylight that was installed and on the thermostat roof fans. After some delay the papers (manual, instruction sheets) which came with these roof accessories were provided. I also asked for some type of invoice or bill of materials on the roofing and underlayment but that was not provided. I had to clean up some, the crew left some debris and snack wrappers, soft drink bottles etc. They also missed many nails which I had to pick up from the drive.

The job started within one week of notification and took 3 days to complete. The job went as planned. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work. We highly recommend Tom Buzzard Co. for your roofing needs.

I AM DEFINITELY SATISFIED WITH THE WORK DONE. WE HAD A COUPLE ESTIMATES FROM OTHER COMPANIES AND THIS ONE WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. THE HOUSE LOOKS GOOD AND WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY MORE TROUBLE WITH LEAKS.

ALL I WANTED THEM TO DO WAS REPLACE THE SHINGLES THE ROOF, BUT THEY WORKED AROUND THE SOLAR PANELS, TOO. THEY HAD THIRTY REFERENCES AND WE KNEW TWENTY FIVE OF THEM. THEY COULDN'T HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB.

I COULDN'T EVEN TELL THAT THEY HAD BEEN HERE! THE TEAR-OFF WAS A VERY MESSY PROCESS, AND THEY MADE CERTAIN THEY CLEANED UP EVERYTHING, RIGHT DOWN TO THE LAST NAIL. MY HUSBAND SAYS HE'D RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE.
