I called Scott at The Water Heater Experts on a Saturday when our water heater suddenly stopped working. I left a message, and he returned the call very promptly. He explained that they were fully booked through Tuesday, but that their policy is to return all calls and attempt to provide direction. He spent 15+ minutes on the phone with me and my husband going over details about our water heater and troubleshooting. He advised that we try to unplug and restart the unit. It worked!!! There is no doubt who we will call when we need to service or replace our water heater in the future. What a pleasure!!! A+++++++

I called four providers and TWHE were the only ones who gave me a ballpark quote over the phone and sent someone out for an estimate. Everyone else either would not discuss "ballparks" over the phone or never called me back. While on the phone they walked me through all my options and gave me the pros and cons of each system I was considering. So I had them come out They said they would be there between 9 and 9:30 and they showed up at 9 on the dot. They assessed the situation and said the cost would be a little cheaper than the ballpark estimate minus the Angie's List coupon. So I had them do the work. It was completed in about 3-4 hours. When they were done, my old unit was gone, the job site was clean and I had hot water waiting for me. I don't care if they say that cold showers are good for your skin, I like having my hot water back.

It went fine. They did a good job. They were knowledgeable. Everything was fine. I don't know anything about the prices.

They provided great service. Showed up on time, removed the old water heaters and installed the new unit quickly and efficiently. They couldn't have been more cooperative. They arranged for the City plumbing inspector to check their work and it passed with flying colors. Overall, as pleasant an experience as one can have when you suddenly find you have no hot water and it's going to cost around $4,000 to get it back.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. We had some problems with installation and it took them a while to get it right. They did a good job once they got it right. The new water heating is working out good. They were apologetic, which was appropriate. It took them a lot longer than was expected because they had to come out several times. They came out within a week after I purchased the Big Deal. The water heater would not pass inspection until they resolved the problems, but I was satisfied after they finally completed it.

Spoke to Mr. Martin twice about our problems and he was very helpful in offering advice and other reputable service providers. I definitely would call them again if we need any other work.

Never returned three calls after leaving message on 11/11/2013, 11/13/2013, and 11/21/2013, that we needed either a new hot water heater or tankless hot water system installed. Update: return phone call on 11/22/2013-- see note above. This resulted in a change to my evaluation from F to C overall.

They had an emergency with one of their contracts, so they offered to give us a price break if we rescheduled the installation. They did say they would come at the original time, but we decided to take the price break. The installation went well, advice was given on how to keep the water heater working, and we have hot water.

They first came by to check out the setup and see where the new unit should be installed and if any problems were anticipated. They then came back to do the work. They were punctual on both visits, friendly, and efficient. Great job!

Great job overall. Good communication from office for scheduling, professional master plumber removed the old water heater, did the new installation, everything went very well. I definitely recommend this company and would use them again.

For the purpose of the quote, the process was quite easy.

They arrived on time for the appointment. The technician was very professional and looked at the job. He said that there would need to be an additional charge due to the location of where the heater would need to be installed. He and the manager worked with me to see if there was anything we could do for the price but unfortunately $900 was the cheapest they could do.

Found my 13-year old water heater leaking in my garage on Sunday, knew it was time to get a new one. First, I searched in the internet for customary cost of water heater replacement, so I'd know what to expect. Next, I looked on Angie's List at several companies offering water heater service. I liked Water Heater Experts because I was able to fill out my info online on their web site. Got a call back on Sunday! Said they would be by Monday afternoon at 3:30 to assess the situation. (I misunderstood, thought they said REPLACE on Monday.) Got a call late on Monday, that they were running late. Wesley finally came by about 6 PM, and agreed with me, time to replace. Said he would bring a new unit next morning and install it. That was fine. Tuesday morning Wesley showed up with a new water heater. I left for a meeting, leaving him to the job. I was told I would get a call next day to pay by credit card. Cool. Came back home, found nice shiny new Rheem water heater, no mess, no problems. Pipes, vent, fittings were very neat, and appeared professionally done. I thought they said the job would take about 2 hours, but my wife told me Wesley was working for at least four hours. Again, no problem. End result is fine. When I got the call for payment, I mentioned the $25 Angie's coupon. The business owner, who called me to collect payment, said they would have to mail a check for $25 instead of taking the amount off the bill since the invoicing was already completed. Note to readers: let them know you have the coupon when you call for service, don't wait like me. Overall, quite a painless process. I haven't waited to receive the check to write this review, but I'm confident I will receive it. All communications, phone and in person, were polite and professional.

Truly outstanding. After the deal with my plumber fell through due to timing and availability issues, they came out on short notice less than a week before Christmas. We were wanting the installation done before Christmas because we were expecting guests and were nervous about our old worn out unit in the attic above our bedroom. They came out and explained everything that was necessary in terms that I could understand. They were completely knowledgeable on all the issues. They handled the inspections and permits. They were willing to work with my preferred electrician. The got it installed in time that same week. The technician stayed late to make sure everything was working, and helped me clean and unclog my water filter which was restricting water pressure. After Christmas he came out and installed the CO detectors and got the inspection done - it passed the first time. The technician gave me his cell phone number and said I can call him anytime with questions or concerns. The invoice was exactly as quoted, and he went out of his way to tell me about the AngiesList coupon which I was not aware of and saved me $100.

My overall experience was very good, but not necessarily exceptional. When contacting The Water Heater Experts they had me check the make and model of my unit as a comparable replacement would not require a new permit and thus allow the heater to be installed more quickly. The cost for a comparable water heater replacement was higher than I thought it would be prior to contacting them but further research indicated it was on par with costs for our area. My only complaint was that it took 3 days before someone could come do the work and I didn't want to even check into the cost of emergency service. The job was done well and professionally with the installer going over everything he could about the unit with additional thoughts on how to get the most life out of the unit. I was pleased with the job and if they could have come sooner, I would have given them an exceptional rating.

Called yesterday (Sunday)late afternoon about a leaking water heater, Scott emailed me in the evening and asked for some info and saided he would call me first thing in the morning to set up time today( Monday) to look at it. 7:20am he called and by 9:30am I had a price and gave him the go ahead to replace it. Job done by 3pm.....HOT WATER and NO leaking!! Thank you Scott and Wesley....

The entire crew from the Water Heater experts were great. We dealt with the office in Charlotte for scheduling, and a service tech came to our house in Chapel Hill. I spent a lot of time under the house with him to assess the work. It was very well done, and the technician was very well qualified having spent over ten years as a Master plumber. No question he knew his stuff. The tankless system is very good. It has saved us money, mostly. I say mostly becasue now that the water heater never empties my wife can take 30 minute showers (and she does). Our first water bill made me think we had broken a pipe. We are in the process of selling our house. After the inspection we were told that the hot water heater was not working. I called the Water Heater experts and they sent someone out within 48 hours. Upon inspection the technician determined that there was no electrical power running to the unit. He mentioned that electrical code required that devices installed in crawl spaces be wired to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The only GFCI circuit that I knew of in the house was wired to the 1st and 2nd floor bathrooms. I went to check, and sure enough the outlet in the 1st floor bathroom was tripped. I reset the circuit and the tankless water heater unit powered right up. Since the house has been empty the technician suggested that the home inspector may have tripped the GFIC circuit to test it and then forgot to reset it. Anyway it is working fine now, and there was never any problem with the system. FYI, the water heater is now approximately one year old, and it has a five year warranty on parts. We where not charged for this service call. I am very impressed with this company and do not hesitate to recommend them.

Wednesday morning, 9/26 all of our hot water started coming out of the faucets as a rusty, brown color. None of our neighbors were having this problem so we figured it must be related to our water heater. I called James at the Water Heater experts and he was able to send Andy to our home THAT afternoon to inspect and flush our water heater. The quoted price for a flush and chlorine treatment of our water heater was $150.00. Andy arrived that afternoon and after spending a couple of hours flushing the water heater informed us that (as a 12-year old heater) it was past its useful life and could simply die at any time. We elected to have their company replace it with a new water heater (40-gallon, gas) which they were able to schedule and perform the very next day. During the teardown of the old water heater Andy did indeed discover many parts that had already broken or fallen apart so his prediction that our old water heater would soon die was right on the money. They applied $75.00 of the water heater flushing service towards this purchase. I was very impressed by Andy's professionalism and the time he took to explain things to me. Although the price of the new water heater ($695.00 out-the-door after applying the $75-credit from the previous-day's job and the $25 Angie's List coupon) was probably around $100.00 more than I would have paid from Lowes or Home Depot I feel that having a system installed by a trained, licensed and experienced professional was worth the extra. The warranty from the Water Heater Experts also surpasses what you'd get from a big "box store" so all-in-all I think it was worth it.
