Norm and his crew are very professional and have done a great job with the variety of jobs I have needed them for. They have done many projects for me and each time I was very pleased. Norm responds quickly to requests, has always provided a fair quote, and gets the work done in a timely manner. After the job is completed, Norm checks in at completion to make sure it was done correctly and make sure I a happy with the results. Norm and his crew have done all kind of jobs for me including replacing siding, painting,. roof repair and deck building. When replacing an existing deck, Norm was quick to point out joists that were in good shape and could be re-used, in order to save me some money. That is typical of him and I really appreciated it. He is fair and does not want customer to waste money on unnecessary things. I trust him to not take advantage of the situation. All jobs were done well by competent and professional employees. I will be requesting him for jobs in the future.
Description of Work: The most recent jobs Norm has done were repairing a leaking roof and flashing for three skylights, and building a 2 story deck
Mr Reilly was friendly and professional and has a good eye for providing fair estimates for all work to be performed. His staff was prompt and showed up on time and performed high quality work. The crew that repaired the outside completed their work within one day. All of the repaired areas were done accurately with materials created to fit the exact size of the defects and put in place securely. The crew repairing the roof completed the job in one day and informed me along the way of what they were doing. They not only performed work that had a nice functional result, but also cosmetically it looked very nice when completed. The subsequent internal work to replace the ceiling was also done on a separate day very professionally and also taped, sanded, and painted very professionally. Additional questions that I had were answered promptly, and additional needs for estimates on other work were done promptly and priced fairly, allowing me to properly prioritize the intended work. Overall it was a pleasant experience that provided high value for me, and I plan to have more work performed by Mr Reilly and his crews.
Description of Work: Provided a free estimate and fair pricing for all of the repairs needed at my home. Subsequently repaired external areas where raccoons and squirrels were able to enter the attic. Also repaired roof and replaced flashing around a large chimney, and replaced ceiling beneath the leaking roof that was water damaged, removed and replaced crown molding, and repainted ceiling.
Long story short, they brought a criminal into my house that attempted to steal my belongings, and lied to his supervisor about it even after being caught red-handed. On top of that, the end result was very lousy on closer inspection! Long story long, I was pleased with their responsiveness to my inquiry on getting the work done. The owner was timely when arriving for my estimate, and seemed very professional. I felt like we came to a good understanding and a fair price for the work to be done. I put a $350 deposit down that day. I was informed that I would receive a call in about 2 weeks with a proposed work date. All of that happened as expected, and the "crew" arrived at the stated time. The crew consisted of a supervisor and a worker. From literally the moment I opened my door, I was put off by the worker. As I answered the door, he took a last drag from his cigarette and threw it down onto my front porch. I briefly considered closing the door at that point, but decided to overlook the first impression of littering at my doorstep. The crew got work quickly enough, but the worker unfortunately needed his pants to be riding a lot higher. There was an excessive amount of moon in my living room if you know what I mean. I continued to work at my desk while they worked in the other room. The men moved between my carport, through my garage and kitchen, to the work area, and back all day. That afternoon, the supervisor pulls me aside and mentions all of the tools that I have in my garage. I tell him a bit about the work I have done to my house, thinking he is just making conversation. The supervisor asks me about some pneumatic nailers that I have in my garage. I notice that the larger brad nailer is missing from its spot on the shelf. The supervisor says that he noticed it among the worker's tools, and that it stood out to him because it looked much newer than the rest of his tools. I described what mine looked like, and he confirmed that was it. The supervisor had seen him by my shelves, and when he asked why the worker claimed that the homeowner - me - had told him there were nails there to use (which I had not). Upon further questioning after consulting me, the worker claimed that he had mistaken the nailer for his own which he claims is just like it but he left it at home. Despite this, the worker had already written his initials on my tool in permanent marker! After this confrontation, the supervisor sent the worker away, and reassured me that he would be fired. My concern at this point is what else may have been taken, and that now a criminal knows where I live, how to get in my house, and what stuff I have inside. The supervisor does a bit more work, but admittedly appeared at a loss of how to resolve the situation. I am not a confrontational person, so I really just wanted him to finish and leave, not really having the gravity of the situation sunk in yet. In his defense, he asked me to look at the work and give it my approval. Mostly just wanting this company out of my house, I said it looked fine and he left apologetically. In his defense, if he had not noticed the theft the criminal would have been successful. Today I planned to do the painting, and found that on closer inspection the work is terrible. Trim pieces can be wiggled and moved by hand. There were multiple nails that had not been set. There were massive gaps or uneven surfaces all over. They had damaged and poorly repaired dry wall around the windows. The had not really done any finish work at all. No caulk, no sanding, nothing. I expected to only have to come in and put a coat of paint on everything, maybe caulk a seam or two, but instead I am doing far more in attempt to cover up or repair the shoddy workmanship as best as possible. Perhaps a lot of this was due to the worker's focus on what he could take from my house instead of what he was working on. At the end of the day, I could probably make the work look okay with a bit of effort on my part. Perhaps I was not clear with my expectations during the estimate. Ultimately, my concern lies with the fact that this company brought a dirt bag criminal into my home where my 2 year old son and my wife sleep at night. That criminal knows what we have, and knows where I live, and there is nothing that can be done about that now. I had expected a call from the owner before now to offer a formal apology of some kind, but that has not happened. At this point, I have to be comfortable knowing that my Springfield is loaded and my dog is alert at night; and that I do not have to deal with this company again. My advice is to ask what kind of background checks or screening are done by companies that bring people into your home. I certainly will in the future.
Description of Work: Our dogs had chewed up some wood trim and window casings inside the house as puppies. I called this company to repair them. During the estimate, I asked to leave the painting to me in order to save a bit of money.

I understand the home owner is upset and rightly so. However, in my defence: We hired and fired that person this week. When we hired him there was no indication that he was a thief. My son watched him as he does all new employees and noticed he took something from the owners garage. My son asked the employee who insisted he didn't take anything, SO MY SON asked the owner what he had in that location and checked the employees car. He returned the tool and told the employee to leave. It was our diligence of watching new employees that informed the owner he was missing something. The owner would not have known something was missing, IF we didn't watch our new employee! Most of my employees have been with us for over 10 years with no other incidents ever! AS far as the quality of work, the owner didn't understand that it is the painters job to caulk and paint. We normally get straight A's for quality, but I believe this home owner was more critical because he was upset.
The crew did a great job with everything that they installed and painted and were quite quick to finish as well. My only complaint is I was not informed exactly when they would be coming to do the work and the new patio door showed up early one morning with no notice. Other than communication on their part, they did a great job and I am very satisfied with the work performed.
Description of Work: Replaced several rotted Masonite siding boards, painted entire house, installed new window sash to replace rotted one and installed new patio French doors to replace rotted door.

Unfortunately, The building supply company delivering the door before they called me. I called the day before to asked when they would deliver it and they didn't have a time.
First, sorry for the long delay to write this review. But since they did very nice jobs for me, I would like to express positive comments to other people. Reilly's handyman services were great! He basically have two teams: carpenter and paint. I used both of his teams. Their service are well done. My wife is very happy with the result. All his crews are nice and easy to work with. During the house project, I express several concerns to Norm. He always response me quickly and address my questions. The deck paint requires sunny days and warm temperature, Norm helped to reschedule his painting team for my projects couple of times to accommodate the weather requirement. His carpenter team is very processional. Jeff did awesome job for us to fix and replace all carpenter works. Considering all the jobs Norm helped us, the price is fairy reasonable. If I need help in future, I will contact Norm Reilly again.
Description of Work: Replace rotted trims under the gutter. Fix rotted exterior fascia, wood materials Install a new Bay window. Exterior House Paint. Deck paint. Interior doors replacement
Perfectly. They were efficient, always on time and great with communication and left zero mess despite it being a messy job to perform. Very impressed and will definitely use them on future home projects.
Description of Work: Install drywall ceilings over popcorn for hallway, bedroom and bathroom; paint and trim; install recessed lighting and dimmer switch; install light fixtures and stairway rail.
The work went well and one of the 2 workers was superb. However, my understanding was that 2 people would be on site for the day and if time allowed, other work would be considered. Unfortunately, the lead on the job repeatedly stated "no, it is not on the list" when I asked him to review/ consider other work. Additionally, he left a heavy container of debris in my yard that I had to remove.

Response from Reilly's Handyman Services
I was very clear with the customer that we price jobs and we DO NOT work by the hour or the day. I explained that I needed to send 2 people to do the work and it will take most of the day. Usually, and on this job we did extra work that we didn't charge, however, the owner wanted us to replace a door that we didn't discuss or have time to do that day. We replaced fascia on the second floor and found the framing was rotted. We did the extra work of replacing the framing at no charge. We did a few additional other items that we didn't charge for. When we scheduled the start day, I reaffirmed that I was not charging for a days work and the guy's start at my house at 7:00 and finish back at my house at about 3:00 or 3:30. They finished at 3:15 that day. So they worked 8 hours and did extra repairs for free.
Reilly's handyman services were great! We got an estimate on the spot which was very reasonable. They did very quick, quality work to repair our bathroom. They even gave us the option to repaint the bathroom ourselves to save a few bucks. We will certainly be using them again.

I got estimates from many other contractors and handymen in the area. I was most impressed by this company because I was given an estimate for the house on the spot (instead of having to wait a week to know). I was impressed by how thorough he was in looking for all the spots that needed repaired. Additionally, their estimate was equivalent (and maybe a bit cheaper) than the other estimates. Best of all, they stuck to price they estimated (there was a bit more due to some hidden rot, but not much and I was informed that that was a likely scenario). The owner was very knowledgeable when we asked questions about materials or options for repair. Everyone on their team was kind (and trustworthy) and hardworking. And their work was precise and solid. The house looks very nice afterwards. In short, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Description of Work: Our house was in bad shape because we did not repaint our house for several years and we had some rotting. Reilly's team replaced several soft/rotten pieces of siding and trim, repainted the house, and installed a new back door (the old one was severely warped and rotten). We also had a small project inside involving putting up drywall.

We started out wanting to remodel the kitchen but ended up doing a complete home remodel. Norm was very patient with us as we continued to add additional work to the contract and make changes. All interactions were professional, courteous and he offered great advice. They did a lot of work in the house and we are beyond pleased with how it turned out. Norm is very fair in his pricing and his team provides exceptional craftsmanship. We agreed on a timeline upfront and even with all our additions, they still finished the job on time. We can't say enough great things about our experience with this company. We would highly recommend them and will definitely be using Norm and his team for any further projects. They really made the experience of a complete home remodel stress free and we can't be more happy with the final product.
Description of Work: Complete home remodel - new kitchen and floors, paint outside and inside, bathroom remodel, replaced doors, replaced molding, finished garage, etc.
I contacted the provider in late September requesting an estimate to paint some doors and trim, and to replace a dryer exhaust vent at my home. Norm Reilly, the owner, set up a meeting with me on 9/22 to review the work needed. Norm noticed that some of the trim work had some rotted wood, and recommended replacing this wood. The other provider who provided an estimate suggested putty and other workarounds. Considering the carpentry work suggested and the dryer vent (I only had the 2nd provider provide an estimate on the doors and trim as they were a painter) Norm's estimate was better for a better solution. Norm told me it would be 2-3 weeks before his team would get to my job. We had 13 straight days of rain, but they were still able to get to my job in 3 weeks. A carpenter came out to take care of the wood replacement and dryer vent. The following day (10/14) a painter came out to paint the trim and doors. Everyone was courteous and did a very good job. My one quibble is that the painter left paint chips on my front steps. As I reviewed the work done, I specifically asked him to clean those off before he left but he seemed to be in a hurry to leave. But if I needed similar work done again, my first call would be to Reilly's Handyman Services.

Norm was extremely pleasant to work with. He gave good advice an offered a cost effective solution to the problem. He required a 25% deposit up front... He then scheduled to do the work when he said that he would. The work was performed in the duration and manner in which he said it would, and the finished work looks great! I plan to hire Norm again for other items around the house.

It is not fair to review someone on their estimate and not the work. Sometimes people find out why the lowest estimate is the lowest and could cost them more in the end.

Norm came to the house and gave us an estimate within 24 hrs. Though he had to wait for our answer as we had another estimate scheduled with another company, we appreciated his immediate response and the estimate was fair. We decided to go with Norm because of the sliding glass doors he purchased for us. (We love the doors). The crew that worked on the house were friendly and efficient. They all worked steadily for 6 hrs (which is about all we could take with the pounding). When the job was done, Norm came to inspect and found that a couple places were missed when the painting crew were here. He called them and they came back to complete the job. Overall, we are very pleased with the workmanship and with Norm and his crew. Thank you, Norm.

Very well, they continued to respond as we found new issues, and were always responsive both with their time and focus on our concerns.
Description of Work: Removed brick steps, replaced with wooden deck and steps. Painted house, repaired exterior window sills, and replaced 1989-era windows.
Norm and his team did a great job. We were very happy with the whole process. Norm quoted me with a very fair price to begin with so we chose to not bother with other estimates as we had a great feeling in meeting with Norm. He put us on his schedule, and called when he said he would, and his team showed up when they said they would which is a big deal to us. We've had some bad experiences in the past, so it was refreshing to have someone do what they say they would. Overall we will definitely be using Norm and his team again, and as a matter of fact, we have already scheduled some additional work with him.
Description of Work: We had our deck railing replaced, some trim replaced and painted on the outside of the house that had some damage, door trim replaced and painted on two inside entryways where our cats had made some scratches, the entire kitchen painted which included some drywall repair and a couple cabinet drawers fixed that had some water damage.

Norm Reilly gave measured and practical advice, didn't try to talk me into services I didn't want or need, and assigned his crew to help me meet ALL my deadlines! Owner came out and wrote down my project needs and requesting $700 on the spot for a deposit. It took several weeks emails for Owner to return my question when would someone going to schedule the project. Daily had to text the scheduler to see who was coming and what time. They did arrive on time the days they came. Splattered paint was left front of porch and not cleaned. Water hose left running all night and left two huge pools of water that was brought to my attention by community HOA. One day worker brought a child to the work project site and two extra ladies who were not working but sat at the side of the house. Large scrap on bathroom door after they took off hinges and then put back on hinges. Latch on screen door poorly engineered and aesthetically not top notch job. Had to remind workers to paint lattice work around the screen they installed or they would have left it with the plywood look and no paint. I had to get the paint myself. Vanity in bathroom needed some additional wood to sit properly on the bathroom floor and I had to go get the paint mixed and matched myself at Sherwin Williams. I purchased a much of the supplies including a commode seat. When I addressed my disappointment to the Owner of the all things I was not pleased with, I let him know on the final check I only made out for a thousand dollars. I knocked off fifty bucks of the final bill due to my disappointment. Owner emailed back saying they had costs that were added on like the commode seat install.
Description of Work: Install bottom part of small screen porch with new screen, add lattice work around screen, paint lattice work. Install screen door and latch. Take out old bathroom vanity, Install new bathroom vanity with boards and 3 tiles to accommodate size and fit, skim & paint walls, hang lighting fixture, install commode seat, towel rack & paper towel holder, calk and grout. ------------- Following is my reply I sent to [removed name]'s email -------------------- Hi [removed name], Sorry to hear you were displeased. I discussed the issues with my team and have listed some answers under each item on your attached email below. Also, we did extra work that we didn’t charge for, we ran to the store and paid for material you were agreed to have on site. Some of the extra work was: Installed a toilet seat Hardware for a curtain rod Grout in spots of the shower You and I discussed a vanity replacement and I said “if the foot print was different we may need to install baseboard around the bottom of it”. You should have informed me that was not possible because you were purchasing a furniture piece vanity with legs. We installed tiles on the floor that was not part of this job. ------------- Following is still the same email reply with my comments to her specific questions:------------------ Hi Norm, Victor has finish painting which concludes the project. Matthew sent a text to write check & give to Victor. I have given the check to Victor for $1,000.00. The final check is knocking off $50. Answer: Thank You and I agree with the $50 discount if you were not happy. Overall 80% pleased. Here are my noticing for the $50 off. •Ryan used old latch on new screen door, but did not position it well enough where all 4 screws are holding it on. I am fine with using my previous door latch but the engineering & appearance is not grade "A". Answer: Ryan asked you if you wanted him to install the old handle or the new hook you purchased with the door. He told you he could only fit 2 screws on the new door with the old hardware and you requested him to do it. •Bathroom door was removed to work in room & I noticed a scrape in the door. Care was not taken with removal & putting back door. Answer: Ryan removed and hung the door 3 times. He did take care and if there is a scratch he didn’t see, you could have asked the painters to touch it up. I can still send the painters back at no charge to do touchups if you like. •Yesterday Victor brought 3 women & a child. Only 1 woman helped with painting. The child was unsupervised until I noticed him & asked whose child. The other 2 women not working and sitting to the side of the house, asked the boy to sit down. I brought this to Matthew's attention. Matthew texted to bring the child issue up to you so you hear it from someone besides Matthew. Answer: I agree. You didn’t have the material needed for us to start as scheduled. When we pushed our schedule out to accommodate, our completion date was pushed to Monday. You said you were leaving town and needed it completed by Sunday. Victor (our painter) works 6 days a week and does not work on Sundays. He agreed to do this for you because you needed it done before you left. •Ryan finished the vanity earlier today. Because the bottom of the vanity sat on legs, he closed in sides & front which we agreed on. When he finished, I thought he would have painted the wooden boards to finish off the piece. He did not. I had made a special trip to Sherwin Williams on Ryan's recommendation to have the paint color match the vanity. I took the inside shelf to Sherwin Williams to match the color. Answer: Normally the painters that came last do all the painting. If you would have given the paint to them they would have painted it. Ryan told me you said “you will paint it”. I can still send the painters back at no charge to do touchups if you like. •At the same time, I also picked up paint for the lattice board around the screen porch that needed painting. No one seem to ask about how the lattice board was getting painted. I did not want it to just be plywood look. If I had not said paint it, it would have been left with plywood look. Answer: Normally the painters do all the painting, so you did ask the correct person to touch up. If we miss something we always go back to correct it. •Ryan told me the water turn knobs under the vanity would probably leak & need replacing or my vanity will be ruined. He did not offer to fix or tell me someone who could help me. Answer: Ryan said there is no problem with your valve, but watch it because once they are turned off and on they sometimes develop a leak over time. We don’t like to charge for jobs that are not needed to be done.

Team came out and performed excellent work. Discovered more damage after initial quote but I knew that would be the case so not surprised. Team stayed focus and addressed work completely. Cleaned up well. Had no issues and will use again for certain.

Quick response when contacted for an estimate for deck replacement. A start date was agreed to and initial work was started as scheduled. We had a couple of days delay during the replacement due to city inspections being performed. When removing the old deck, some wood rot was found and wood and shingle replacement was made. On completion, the crew cleaned up the back yard and side yard, much appreciated. The deck looks very nice!

The water spout blown down by a storm, pieces laid on the lawn for several days until I called Mr Reilly and he looked at it and said two pieces need to be replaced, and it will be $175. The work took place a week later as promised. For a busy summer season I really appreciate that. When I got home, the staff member who got the work just finished told me that the joint area was also bent. They actually had to go back to Lowes to get another piece, but everything is taken care of. He showed me the invoice of $175 and asked if I would like to pay or be billed. I told him that my wife usually handles the checks so bill to me is fine. I was thinking, how nice of them to go an extra mile to replace that bent piece without even asking extra charge. Next day I received a call from Mr Reilly that he is bringing in the invoice. I was a little surprised but said fine, as it is Saturday. He showed up at my drive way 5 minutes later, I already got his check ready. He told me that the price is not $175 anymore as there is an extra $50. At this point I was a little taken back. I mean, if there is a courtesy call before that $50 added, or even a simple mentioning of because of the extra trip, there will be a $50 extra charge, I will not be surprised at all. Clearly he personally deliver this invoice to collect this $50. He showed me all the receipt and the time stamps. The cost of the piece is about $5, he also blamed me to not tell him that that extra piece needed to be replaced. Of course, to be fair, nobody can foresee every pieces needed, but when the contract is altered, I would really like to know before the cost occurred. Also, one would think an evaluator might see if the piece bent or not? It is not really under a wood or something. When I told him that I'm not happy about the change of order after the fact, Mr Reilly was telling me that I was upset because of the $50, not because that I was not told. I was even more taken back by that statement as while I was commenting on the non-professionalism I was facing, I was tearing the previous check and writing him another one-- I was not even thinking to give him the original check. Frankly speaking, I was happy that I had my water spout working again, and it was pretty much as quick as it be. The staff members who did the work was very friendly and all mess were cleaned up after them. I would be happily paying the $225 if it was the original estimation, or I was informed beforehands. Even a call afterwards probably would worked better than a Saturday shown up in my house to tell me there is an extra $50-- chances are I would be slightly annoyed but would not say anything by a phone call. I hope that Mr. Reilly can improve the process of his business which I believe will make his business more successful and his customers more satisfied.

Response from Reilly's Handyman Services
The homeowner told me we had two pieces (20 feet) of the downspout to replace. I looked from his back deck with him. We couldn't see if there was more needed but he assured me there was only two pieces. He met my guys at the job and left after they got started. My workers brought the needed material with them. When they seen there was more repairs needed, they looked for the homeowner to tell him, however, he left. They went to the store and purchased additional material. The extra labor and material cost me $65. I normally don’t work on Saturday, however, I went to the homeowners house to explain the extra charge and that I was only charging him $50. I assumed I was doing him a favor by sharing the extra cost and not charging full price. He told me this will affect my rating if I charge him the extra $50. However, I didn't believe it was ethical to buy a better rating. Also, it would have cost me more than I was charging him to do the work. Normally, we always tell the homeowners if there is an extra charge, before we do the work. This is an extremely rare case. We should have tried to phone the home owner. We could have charged him the full price. As it worked out, it cost me money to get a black eye.
