They were timely and professional. They honored any requests we had as the work was done.
Description of Work: They replaced a fair amount of rotten siding and outside trim and painted the entire exterior of the house. They also rebuilt our front porch, using vinyl to replace the rotten wood. We are especially happy with that work.

Response from Reilly's Handyman Services
This is an unfair and an untrue review. You called me at 2:00 Thursday. I said "send me the inspection report and I will review it on Monday or Tuesday, Usually I can price them from the inspection reports." You said "Thanks for nothing, I will call someone else who will come out to look at the job." AND HUNGUP ON ME! You could have said, I prefer for you to come to the house, or give me a chance to explain that I do about 6 inspection reports a week and most of them I can price without going to the job! I am sorry I was booked Friday and most of Monday, But you should of had the courtesy to let me answer or explain.

Norm and his crew showed up when they said, his crew was professional and pleasant. Norm helped us out by taking over for a job that was initially started by another so called "handyman" who ripped us off and didn't complete the job. Needless to say we did not have all the funds necessary to complete the job he worked with us and was extremely fair. Norm we should have hired you first! Going forward you will be my first call for any additional work we may need...Thank you

For the last year or so I had been looking for a contractor to replace the horizontal surfaces on my exterior deck. Most deck contractors only wanted to do a full tear down and replacement, yet at the same time several of them told me that the deck really didn't require that approach since the basic foundation elements were in good shape. I ended up contacting Norm Reilly and he came out and agreed to quote the work. Mr. Reilly was up front with me that he had some scheduling issues that may push this work out several months. This was OK with me since I was not in a big rush. Work began in August (bad month for a deck repair!). There were several crew members on site doing the removal and replacement. I felt confident in the approach and quality of work that the crew provided. We ran into a few minor surprises along the way and Mr. Reilly added in some extra work at a reasonable price. The crew checked with me several times as work progressed to make sure that I was satisfied with the approach as well. I was a little worried because most of Mr. Reilly's AL reviews are at much higher price points than the work I needed, but he and his crew were attentive and did a great job in the end. I will certainly consider him in the future for other jobs if the need arises. I am attaching a few pics of the tear out, and a pic of the final results as well.
Description of Work: Replaced horizontal surfaces on approx 350 sq. ft. of decking. This did not include replacement of the stair treads, but did include replacement of the top rails and flashing as well as 3 - 4 pieces of cement fiber siding.

Fantastic job, reasonable prices, professional crew. One of the best parts of Norm's crew is that they provide virtually all the services needed with one contact. During the renovation there were several times where something needed to be repainted after a repair. Norm is able to bring in his crew on short notice to do these small jobs, saving me the work of having to contact and schedule someone else. They did such a great job that we used them again on my fiance's house to replace the roof and to repair siding damage. We highly recommend them!

This company will not perform work in Durham. I wish I could leave a comment without actually giving a rating. I gave a B because I don't believe it's fair to give a bad rating based solely on service area. I just think it will save some people time to learn that they won't come to Durham, even though the website says they perform services "throughout the Cary, Raleigh, Apex and surrounding areas." They were quick to respond to my message, at least.

Description of Work: Originally, we had some rotten wood, painting the shutters and doors, replacing lighting fixtures and other odd jobs that needed to be done, but after talking with Norm, we agreed that it was time to paint the whole house - including the trim, and we had some roof work that needed to be repaired.

Only good things to say about Norm's team. Norm was responsive throughout the process. He set accurate expectations, and always followed-up. The installation was performed swiftly and the final deliverable was of high quality. During the installation, the team had to create a solution to mediate for manufacturing shortcoming of casings, and the team came up with an excellent solution, which they cleared with us before implementing.
Description of Work: The project was installation of two arched door frames, doors and hardware, and casings. Norm was extremely responsive throughout the project, and worked with us and the supplier to validate measurements. Installation was of excellent quality and performed in a timely manner.

As always, Norms crew worked efficiently and can do anything. There are several people working so the job doesn't take too long. When it rained they worked inside when it was dry, they worked outside. The workers are very skilled and polite and prompt. I use norms crew for just about all jobs I need done and have always been happy. I have been a client of Norms for about 8-9 years.

Our initial intent was to replace 2 skylights and a casement window. Norm determined that the casement window replacement really only needed 2 sashes to be replaced and suggested I contact Pella directly. Following this path saved us approximately $1000. In regard to the skylights, we like the quality of the skylights and he made them fit into the existing openings. The one unexpected problem was in preparation to remove the old skylights, a roof leak and rotten roof was discovered, so we had to replace some sheathing and reshingle the whole roof instead of just the area surrounding the skylights. All worked out well and they installed appropriate wood trim on the interior of the skylights to provide a good final finish. We plan on using Norm in the future (if the need arises), and would recommend him to friends.

The crew was great and their work was excellent. They removed the old counter top and replaced it with granite that we'd chosen earlier. They cleaned up the area spotlessly and didn't damage in the least the wood floor or any cabinets. The old black splash was white square tiles that had to be removed, fixes done to the wall, and then new subway tile put up. It took much longer (2 days) than I expected but the end result was meticulous and beautiful. This is the second time we've call on Reilly's services for home remodeling and the price is reasonable; the workmanship is flawless. Highly recommended!

It was great! Working with Norm and all his crews was a pleasure. They were courteous, efficient, skilled and deliberately performed their job. I've got a Tutor style home so a lot of trim work was necessary. They encountered some unexpected issues but handled them efficiently and with minimal extra cost. I received about 4 estimates and Norm's was the most patient and knowledgeable of what needed to be done. I will hire them again.

Estimate left a great impression. Norm was knowledgable about what options we had for dealing with a rotten door frame and took the time to explain pros and cons of each option. He gave a fair price for the entire scope of work and stuck to it all the way through, which is very nice because he assumes the risk and stays out of nickling and diming. Scope changes were done well. As we went through the project new things come up (carpet, adding scope to the paint job). Norm added additional scope at the same fair price as the initial estimate and took the time to provide all necessary information required to make the right decision. He worked well with timely texting and emailing. A no stress experience - really nice! Timing and length of project needed some flexibility. Replacing the door frame turned out to be more difficult than anticipated (wrong size/type of door frame was delivered twice in a row, which forced the crew to stop working and resume at a later point in time). His crews worked well with our time constraints so everything worked out well in the end even if the project took longer than expected. Quality of work/professionalism: A few times I had to supervise quality myself: A text message came that work was completed but when I arrived or checked then additional touch up (stain job and siding/doorframe paint) or additional prep work for the ceiling drywall was needed because a difficult area of the ceiling did not hold up well after painting was completed. All of my requests for better quality were completed to my entire satisfaction (A rating) and very timely (A rating). There was no discussion that what I had observed and wanted to be fixed wasn't the right thing to do, which I appreciated (A rating). However that fact that I had to point out the issues myself resulted in a downgrade to (B) on professionalism. I would have loved to come home and find everything just finished without the need to get back to Norm even if doing so was a no hassle experience. Summary: I can recommend Reilly's Handyman Services if you have the ability invest some time into checking the work. I don't mind doing that and hence I'm very happy with what I got for my money.
Description of Work: 1) paint screened in porch and front porch rails, columns, and fascia boards/gutter as needed. Prep and paint ceilings on screened in porch and front porch. 2) replace carpet in screened in porch. 3) power wash and stain deck and front porch floor boards, rim joists, posts, stairs, and lattices. 4) replace door frame of service door; use existing fiberglass door and paint where needed.

Norm and his crew are very professional and have done a great job with the variety of jobs I have needed them for. They have done many projects for me and each time I was very pleased. Norm responds quickly to requests, has always provided a fair quote, and gets the work done in a timely manner. After the job is completed, Norm checks in at completion to make sure it was done correctly and make sure I a happy with the results. Norm and his crew have done all kind of jobs for me including replacing siding, painting,. roof repair and deck building. When replacing an existing deck, Norm was quick to point out joists that were in good shape and could be re-used, in order to save me some money. That is typical of him and I really appreciated it. He is fair and does not want customer to waste money on unnecessary things. I trust him to not take advantage of the situation. All jobs were done well by competent and professional employees. I will be requesting him for jobs in the future.

Mr Reilly was friendly and professional and has a good eye for providing fair estimates for all work to be performed. His staff was prompt and showed up on time and performed high quality work. The crew that repaired the outside completed their work within one day. All of the repaired areas were done accurately with materials created to fit the exact size of the defects and put in place securely. The crew repairing the roof completed the job in one day and informed me along the way of what they were doing. They not only performed work that had a nice functional result, but also cosmetically it looked very nice when completed. The subsequent internal work to replace the ceiling was also done on a separate day very professionally and also taped, sanded, and painted very professionally. Additional questions that I had were answered promptly, and additional needs for estimates on other work were done promptly and priced fairly, allowing me to properly prioritize the intended work. Overall it was a pleasant experience that provided high value for me, and I plan to have more work performed by Mr Reilly and his crews.
Description of Work: Provided a free estimate and fair pricing for all of the repairs needed at my home. Subsequently repaired external areas where raccoons and squirrels were able to enter the attic. Also repaired roof and replaced flashing around a large chimney, and replaced ceiling beneath the leaking roof that was water damaged, removed and replaced crown molding, and repainted ceiling.

Long story short, they brought a criminal into my house that attempted to steal my belongings, and lied to his supervisor about it even after being caught red-handed. On top of that, the end result was very lousy on closer inspection! Long story long, I was pleased with their responsiveness to my inquiry on getting the work done. The owner was timely when arriving for my estimate, and seemed very professional. I felt like we came to a good understanding and a fair price for the work to be done. I put a $350 deposit down that day. I was informed that I would receive a call in about 2 weeks with a proposed work date. All of that happened as expected, and the "crew" arrived at the stated time. The crew consisted of a supervisor and a worker. From literally the moment I opened my door, I was put off by the worker. As I answered the door, he took a last drag from his cigarette and threw it down onto my front porch. I briefly considered closing the door at that point, but decided to overlook the first impression of littering at my doorstep. The crew got work quickly enough, but the worker unfortunately needed his pants to be riding a lot higher. There was an excessive amount of moon in my living room if you know what I mean. I continued to work at my desk while they worked in the other room. The men moved between my carport, through my garage and kitchen, to the work area, and back all day. That afternoon, the supervisor pulls me aside and mentions all of the tools that I have in my garage. I tell him a bit about the work I have done to my house, thinking he is just making conversation. The supervisor asks me about some pneumatic nailers that I have in my garage. I notice that the larger brad nailer is missing from its spot on the shelf. The supervisor says that he noticed it among the worker's tools, and that it stood out to him because it looked much newer than the rest of his tools. I described what mine looked like, and he confirmed that was it. The supervisor had seen him by my shelves, and when he asked why the worker claimed that the homeowner - me - had told him there were nails there to use (which I had not). Upon further questioning after consulting me, the worker claimed that he had mistaken the nailer for his own which he claims is just like it but he left it at home. Despite this, the worker had already written his initials on my tool in permanent marker! After this confrontation, the supervisor sent the worker away, and reassured me that he would be fired. My concern at this point is what else may have been taken, and that now a criminal knows where I live, how to get in my house, and what stuff I have inside. The supervisor does a bit more work, but admittedly appeared at a loss of how to resolve the situation. I am not a confrontational person, so I really just wanted him to finish and leave, not really having the gravity of the situation sunk in yet. In his defense, he asked me to look at the work and give it my approval. Mostly just wanting this company out of my house, I said it looked fine and he left apologetically. In his defense, if he had not noticed the theft the criminal would have been successful. Today I planned to do the painting, and found that on closer inspection the work is terrible. Trim pieces can be wiggled and moved by hand. There were multiple nails that had not been set. There were massive gaps or uneven surfaces all over. They had damaged and poorly repaired dry wall around the windows. The had not really done any finish work at all. No caulk, no sanding, nothing. I expected to only have to come in and put a coat of paint on everything, maybe caulk a seam or two, but instead I am doing far more in attempt to cover up or repair the shoddy workmanship as best as possible. Perhaps a lot of this was due to the worker's focus on what he could take from my house instead of what he was working on. At the end of the day, I could probably make the work look okay with a bit of effort on my part. Perhaps I was not clear with my expectations during the estimate. Ultimately, my concern lies with the fact that this company brought a dirt bag criminal into my home where my 2 year old son and my wife sleep at night. That criminal knows what we have, and knows where I live, and there is nothing that can be done about that now. I had expected a call from the owner before now to offer a formal apology of some kind, but that has not happened. At this point, I have to be comfortable knowing that my Springfield is loaded and my dog is alert at night; and that I do not have to deal with this company again. My advice is to ask what kind of background checks or screening are done by companies that bring people into your home. I certainly will in the future.
Description of Work: Our dogs had chewed up some wood trim and window casings inside the house as puppies. I called this company to repair them. During the estimate, I asked to leave the painting to me in order to save a bit of money.

Response from Reilly's Handyman Services
I understand the home owner is upset and rightly so. However, in my defence: We hired and fired that person this week. When we hired him there was no indication that he was a thief. My son watched him as he does all new employees and noticed he took something from the owners garage. My son asked the employee who insisted he didn't take anything, SO MY SON asked the owner what he had in that location and checked the employees car. He returned the tool and told the employee to leave. It was our diligence of watching new employees that informed the owner he was missing something. The owner would not have known something was missing, IF we didn't watch our new employee! Most of my employees have been with us for over 10 years with no other incidents ever! AS far as the quality of work, the owner didn't understand that it is the painters job to caulk and paint. We normally get straight A's for quality, but I believe this home owner was more critical because he was upset.
