Norm arrived timely and reviewed all areas for repair. Small hold up to estimate as crawlspace area door was double not single. Required half payment down to start work. First person of crew arrived on time day of repair, and introduced himself. Rest of crew arrived later and worked all day. Crawlspace door replacement was great except for paint job. I supplied paint but didn't realized the top had a hard layer on that got mixed into paint which was applied leaving bits all over door. I would have run out for more or strained it if I had been told there was a problem. Wood repair was adequate all around but very noticeable especially on the front door frame! Norm had initially said all 4 areas of my door frame needed repair but crew members said only 2 which is what was done with no reduction in cost to me. Dent was made in door trim which I had to point out for repair before they left. Some paint spaters on driveway.
Description of Work: Replaced Crawlspace double doors, frame, and sill and painted. Repaired wood rot at base of front door frame and replaced rotted wood trim around and above 2nd story window. Repaired multiple areas of carpenter bee damage to wood trim around house.

I contacted Norm Reilly and requested someone to clean my gutters, re-set/repair the gutter guards, repair any water damage and fix any vinyl siding issues. Mr Reilly responded that they "do not clean gutters, and normally do much larger jobs." Later, he called me and gave me some good recommendations for folks that do this type of work. He was very professional, friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: Does not do small jobs. Requested estimate for cleaning gutters and repairing wood and vinyl siding.

Could not have gone any better. The handymen were on time, performed their work professionally, were agreeable and very pleasant to work with and often went several steps further than one would expect, took the time to explain what they were doing and why and work spaces were as clean after they left as they were before they started. We have used this firm previously and when it comes to handymen, we would not consider any other firm.
Description of Work: Multitude of tasks to include repairing nail pop outs, interior and exterior painting, repairing toilets and faucets, removing old and installing new window treatment rods in kitchen, study and master bath, repairing smoke alarms, replacing grout in bathroom and cleaning out and removing crawl space full of an accumulation of twelve years of "stuff".

I was very happy with the service. Due to leaks caused by poor installation of my roof from ten years ago by someone else i had some rotten wood. They replaced the wood and the shingles. The roofing person that Reilly had also saw that the shingles were not properly installed on both dormers. He fixed the problem and i have not had any more leaks since.
Description of Work: He replaced all of the boards around 2 dormer winders and a few boards on a bay window. He also replaced all of the flashing and many of the shingles.

I called Norm, we set a time to meet. He arrived a few minutes late but he called and said he was on his way. I appreciated the call and certainly understand getting held up in traffic for a few minutes.
Description of Work: Norm's crew painted the entire inside of our house, over 3500 sq ft., which included trim, doors, tray ceilings. We had 1 misunderstanding and he and his crew repainted IMMEDIATELY and to our satisfaction. His crew was friendly, professional, tidy and prepared. He was a bit hard to reach but now that I know how he works and he will call within a day or 2 prior to starting, I won't worry. He does call and he did follow up after the job was completed. We will use his services again.

Work was very professional, job completed by estimated finish date and on budget.
Description of Work: Called Mr. Reily to estimate, and ultimately to repair some outside siding a fascia on our house. During the repair, additional rotten wood was found, they worked with us and gave us a very fair price on the additional repairs. They also repainted the entire exterior of our house.

We had a leak coming in behind the siding and into the bottom floor of our house. We called Norm based on the reviews here and he came out the next business day to give us an estimate. He was able to have someone come out and fix the leak the next day. The workers that came out to fix the siding were courteous and you could not even tell they had been there after they left. The leak seems to be fixed and we are very pleased with our experience.
Description of Work: Reflashed and caulked behind the vinyl siding to fix a leak that was allowing water to come into the house.
First off, may I say that Norm Reilly is the most patient and polite person around! He was prompt in coming by to look at what I wanted done and to provide an estimate. A storm had blown off some siding so he scheduled that repair immediately. The other jobs were done over time (sometimes he had openings when weather shut down other outdoor jobs). All workmanship was top quality (and I'm admittedly picky). He responded promptly to any of my questions or concerns and made suggestions when I was unsure what I wanted/needed. All this took place when I was virtually unavailable due to job training constraints...thank goodness for texting! Norm was available after hours as well. No remodelling project goes without bumps and several bumps were definitely of my doing, but Norm calmly addressed and fixed. I thought his estimate was fair for quality work. I am thrilled with the final results and highly recomend Norm Reilly and his crew.

We had a stuck front door. Since the door was metal and the frame was out of line, it required someone with some experience with this sort of thing. When I called, I was first told that since it was a small job, it might take several weeks to get it done because they normally do this sort of thing between bigger jobs. Although I was somewhat disappointed with this, I realize it is a fair response since they would not be making much on it and wasn't an emergency fix. Luckily, they were actually able to come out the next day due to a scheduling change. I was glad they at least have good records and didn't forget. The handyman (the owner's son) was professional, arrived on time and knew what he was doing. We are happy with quality of the work and the price was very reasonable. He also took a look at some other issues were having and gave us some good advice on how to approach the problem, without assuming more knowledge than he had or trying to sell anything. In the future we will definitely call them again and are considering them for some bigger jobs.
Description of Work: Fixed stuck front door and installed deadbolt.

i gave the number to my gf because this place had the best reviews that i could find.
Description of Work: my gf's house had a leak from the second floor bathroom.
Our 24 year old home needed a serious facelift and after receiving quotes from three highly rated contractors on Angie's list we hired Reilly's Handyman Services. We were planning on exterior painting, and interior painting including removing popcorn from the ceilings; also there were several necessary plumbing repairs, including a shower that had been leaking and unusable for many years. We also wanted to install three skylights to brighten our cavernous, two story tall front room. This was a big and complicated job, further complicated by the fact that we already had a kitchen renovation underway with a different company, and coordinating the two projects was not trivial. Norm Reilly was extremely professional throughout the entire process, from evaluating and planning the needed work, to scheduling his crews, to following up to address any remaining issues. He was also very accommodating with regards to coordinating with the kitchen renovation, and on several occasions rescheduled his own workers when the kitchen work was delayed. As often happens, additional work was found to be necessary, most significantly, it was discovered that after nearly 25 years of Carolina sunshine, the shingles had become too brittle to work with for the skylight installation, and even without the skylights, the roof was very near the end of it's life, and would need replacing soon. Within a matter of days, Norm came over with shingle samples, provided a very reasonable quote for the additional work, and the actual shingle replacement was completed in one day. During the exterior painting, it was found that the siding around the chimney was rotten. We had already decided to board the fireplace over (the new kitchen sink was going into that location), but it now appeared that maintaining the now useless chimney would just be recurring expense, so with Norm we drew up a plan to just remove the entire chimney (it was not masonry, it was a pipe surrounded by siding), and cover the area with siding; clearly not part of the original plan, however, two days later I came home to find the entire chimney lying in the yard, very shortly to be loaded into a truck and taken away. The painting proceeded on schedule. Although the chimney removal was dramatic, we were most impressed by the work in our front room. This was a two-story tall space typical of the transitional style; in addition to the installation of the skylights, we wanted to remove the popcorn from the ceiling, which was at least 20 ft high at the peak, and also paint the entire room. This involved scaffolds, and we were apprehensive about the logistics of the high work, however, Norm's painters knew exactly what they were doing and were very efficient, and even removed and rehung several very large and heavy original paintings. All of Norm's workers were friendly and polite, and respectful of our home. They cleaned up each day and always left an orderly and safe worksite. Overall a very positive experience. We would not hesitate to recommend this company for any type of general home maintenance and repair.
Description of Work: Interior and exterior painting, new shingles, installation of skylights, removal of fireplace chimney, repair of leaking shower, including replacement of pan and retile of shower stall, other repairs including faucets.
Everything was great. Norm was great at communication. People were there when promised. Job came in a little less than the estimate. Workers were polite and professional.
Description of Work: Repaired dormers, rotted board, replaced some shingles, installed a new kitchen faucet, repaired door to access bath tub, replaced kitchen cabinet door.
Norm came highly recommended from Angie's list. He came promptly to discuss the job, wrote an estimate on the spot and kept to that estimate exactly. He was always very responsive and finished the job on time and to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Norm's guys removed wallpaper, mudded some bad spots, drywalled over some popcorn ceilings, replaced a bathroom vanity, did some rewiring, and painted a kitchen (including cabinets), two hallways, two bathrooms and a foyer. When they found there was no floor under the old vanity (just subfloor) we came to a swift agreement on price to install a floor and tile. Norm came in on budget, he was always on time and his crew did an excellent job. We would definitely hire Norm Reilly again.

The process was fabulous from start to finish. Norm came to may home to provide an estimate. He was generous with his time, and did a very thorough inspection. He advised me on what parts of the siding/wood should be replaced.....he was also thoughtful to tell me what parts would be okay for a few more years. I appreciated this as he could have just given a blanket statement that everything needed to be replaced. The construction team showed up on time to begin the repairs. Jeff and Randy were wonderful to work with and were meticulous about every detail. The paint crew was also great.. and.were also focused quality and attention to details. I would absolutely recommend Reilly's Handyman Service!
Description of Work: Reilly's Handyman service replaced siding and other portions of the exterior infrastructure of my home, power washed and the painted the exterior of my home
They started at 8am removing old shingles and preparing to install new shingles by noon. There were eight workers working on different areas and handling many tasks. Clean-up was handled as new shingles were being installed. Very good. The new roof was completed by 6pm. Also the barn roof was removed and covered with tar paper on first day. The barn roof was finished on the second day. They had to return a week later to replace the lower roof 2x6x12 boards on the barn that showed some rotten places. Great job!
Description of Work: Replaced roof shingles w/25 year warranty on house & small storage barn. House work cost - $7250 and barn work cost $400. Replaced vent boots. Installed ridge vent. Replaced skylight. Replaced flashing around chimney. Replace 2x6x12 on each side of barn roof at lower part of roof.
Overall a very positive experience. The work was completed quickly and was well done.Everyone working on my home seemed to be genuinely interested in doing the job right. Norm Reilly is customer focused and communicates effectively. There were a couple of small things that needed to be addressed by the painters (paint drips and the like). Once called to there attention, they got right on it and corrected these small defects. Very responsive . Norm clearly has a group of quality craftsmen working with him.
Description of Work: Power washed home exterior and deck. Painted home exterior. Replaced rotten siding and other miscellaneous wood rot. Repaired deck railing. Replaced entire front door unit, with transom window and side lights.Repaired/replaced damaged drywall and painted, Trimmed two doors to operate properly.
Telephoned Norm Reilly on 9/4 Norm came to house and gave esitimate of work we wanted done. We accepted Norm's proposal on same day. All work (noted above) completed in one day one week later (9/11). All work was performed in a professional and excellent manner. Crew was friendly and accessible. Went the extra mile. Would particularly cite Ryan Reilly who managed the work and the crew Crew cleaned up various sites in and around house before leaving. Would never consider anyone else to perform handyman work on our house.
Description of Work: Removed HVAC through the wall unit. Repaired and painted both inside and outside walls (one would never know that there ever was a through the wall unit). Dispose of unit. Repaired toilet Repaired tub Repaired grout in kitchen Re-did tile backsplash in laundry room Replaced rotting wood pieces on house Replaced front door threshold Replaced brick mold on service door Replaced weather stripping for door leading to garage
I've already recommended Norm to friends. In a word, excellent. The project was a lot less stressful than I anticipated. Norm made a concerted effort to understand what we wanted and was flexible as we made slight changes after the start of the project. There were several skill sets required for the project. Norm orchestrated them skillfully. Workers showed up when scheduled & completed the work timely with good craftsmanship. We were really pleased with his communication. He would talk with us at least every evening (including weekends) to review the next day's schedule & to keep us on track for the owner-provided items (ceiling fan, paint colors, door, etc). He always asked for feedback on the quality of the work and visited the work site to monitor progress personally. As for the end result, you can't tell where the first floor ceiling was repaired, the bathroom looks like the ones you see in a magazine, the new room - we now wonder why we didn't finish it 10 years ago.
Description of Work: Norm was hired for three projects; identify & repair a second floor leak that was staining the first floor ceiling, completely retile the second floor master bath, and finish out a 300 sq ft unfinished room. The first step was to cut a hole in the first floor ceiling to identify the leak source. While I was sure the leak was from the master shower, Norm's crew insisted on checking the attic & the roof to rule out these other possible sources. Turned out to be the shower pan - no silicone sealant use in one screw hole when the shower glass was installed. Leaked into the subflooring over a 10 year period and rotted a small corner of the sub flooring which subsequently leaked onto the first floor ceiling. We replaced the pan, all the tile in the shower & tub, and replaced the shower enclosure. The unfinished room was framed, drywalled, wired for outlets/ceiling fan, and painted. A new glass panel entry door replaced the interior entry door. We also had a couple of house settling drywall areas also repaired.
Norm's men began the work within 48 hours of signing the contract. The job was complete in five weeks. Additional work was found during the removal of the old siding, which included wet studs and boards behind the chimney, a rotten board that connected the deck to the house, causing the deck to be completely detatched from the house and a new board installed, and roof shingles that did not extend over the house properly. We were worried that all of this extra work would blow our budget, but Norm was more concerned about making sure the house was fixed properly than he was with making a huge profit. The extra work was done at an amount far less than if we had hired it out separately. Norm was very mindful of our budget when helping us to choose different finishes for our home. The crew was very respectful when dealing us, and when above and beyond with an special requests or touch ups that we asked for. Overall, we were completely thrilled with how our home turned out. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone wishing to improve the quality and curb appeal of their home.we will be calling him in the future for some interior repairs!
Description of Work: We hired Norm Reilly to completely replace our bad Masonite siding with new Nichiboard cement board siding, replace the fascia boards, corner boards, front door, and hand rails on the front steps. His price was very good compared to other contractors, and the end price, even with many added repairs, exceeded his original bid by only $500. Even with this great price, he did not compromise the quality of the work.
I had some pretty bad rotting siding in the back of the house. I contacted them and Norm's son came out to give me an estimate. He was very helpful in reviewing what needed to be done. He also pointed out other problems with wood rot that needed attention as well as missing roof caps which would have been a pretty serious leak problem. There were also several windows in the front that needed caulking too. Basically we walked around the house and talked about the areas that needed fixing. I especially appreciated his honesty in that I asked him to replace an attic fan and when he got up there to replace it he found that the fan was fine and just needed the thermostat adjusted. Now I wasn't up there with him so I didn't see anything and he could have just went ahead and replaced charge me for it, but he didn't. Not only did he tell me that the fan was fine, he didn't charge me for it and he adjusted the thermostat anyway. I met the father, Norm, when the work was completed as he and his son inspected the work done by their crew. I cloud see that they were pretty thorough and I appreciated that. My house will need painting soon and I'll need a new roof so I'll be contacting them for sure.
Description of Work: Replaced siding in the back of the house. Replaced rotting window sill wood. Removed satellite dish bracket and patched hole. Replaced fascia boards. Caulked and sealed windows in the front of the house.
